How do you make playoff baseball better? Tack on some extra innings of course!

Hughes not as good as we believed?
How's that working out for ya, Boston?

Make sure you check out Ben’s post on the team’s ridiculous attendance numbers. Ben’s post on record-setting attendance will go live in a few hours. Check it out then.

Triple-A Scranton (6-4 win over Richmond in 10 innings) best-of-five series is now tied 1-1
Brett Gardner: 0 for 4, 1 R, 1 BB
Jose Cruz Jr. & Angel Chavez: both 2 for 5, 1 K – Cruz Jr. doubled, scored a run & committed a fielding error…Chavez swiped a bag
Bronson Sardinha & Eric Duncan: both 1 for 5, 1 RBI – Sardinha scored a run & K’ed…three times!
Mike Kinkade: 1 for 4, 1 R, 1 3B, 1 BB, 2 K
Juan Francia: 1 for 3, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 SB
The Ghost of Kei Igawa: 5 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 1 WP – 57 of 83 pitches were strikes (68.7%)…you know what, he’s pitched pretty damn good for Scranton
Ross Ohlendorf: 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, 1 E (throwing) – 20 of 28 pitches were strikes (71.4%)
Ben Kozlowski: 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
TJ Beam: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K – no Brower, no Britton, no Edwar, no Veras…say hello to your postseason closer

Double-A Trenton (3-2 loss to Portland in 13 innings) best-of-five series is tied 1-1…Trenton has a huge pitching advantage tomorrow as Danny McCutchen takes on a guy who was DFA’ed earlier in the year…David Robertson & Eric Wordekemper are fresh and ready to back McCutchen up out of the ‘pen
Reegie Corona: 1 for 3, 1 R, 2 BB, 2 SB
Austin Jackson: 2 for 6, 1 RBI, 1 CS – I dunno man, when you’re on first with 1 out in the bottom of the 12th with your #3 & 4 hitters coming up, you have to be 100% sure you can make it before attempting to steal a base…he also threw a runner out at home
Colin Curtis & Cody Ehlers: both 1 for 6 – Curtis K’ed once & gunned a runner down at the plate…Ehlers K’ed thrice
Matt Carson: 1 for 5, 1 K
Noah Hall, PJ Pilittere & Marcos Vechionacci: combined 0 for 14, 2 BB, 1 K – Hall & PJ walked once each…Vech K’ed
Gabe Lopez: 1 for 4, 1 R, 1 2B, 2 K
Alan Horne: 7 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 6 K – took a no-no into the 6th…glad to see he didn’t get scared by the playoff atmosphere
Steven Jackson: 2.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 1 K, 1 WP
Justin Pope: 1.1 IP, 1 H, zeroes – stranded 2 inherited runners in extras
Kevin Whelan: 2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 1 WP – he was cruising, but it all kinda came apart with 2 outs in his second inning of work

Update: Portland is starting Mike Bowden tomorrow, not Haigwood. Not much of an upgrade stats-wise, but an upgrade none the less.

Short Season Staten Island (4-3 win over Tri-City)
Justin Snyder: 0 for 4, 1 RBI, 1 K – drove in the winning run
Taylor Holiday: 2 for 3, 2 R, 1 BB, 1 E (fielding) – 12 hits in his last 9 games
Damon Sublett: 2 for 2, 1 2B – glad to see he’s back
Braedyn Pruitt: 2 for 4, 1 R, 1 HR, 3 RBI
Matt Morris: 2 for 3, 1 R, 1 3B, 1 SB
Ryan Pope: 1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 1 K – not sure, but I’m guessing they’re just limiting his innings
Chris Farley: 4 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K – you know, you can get a good look at a T-bone by sticking your head up the butcher’s ass, but wouldn’t you rather take the bull’s word for it…no wait, that’s not right
Jason Kiley: 2.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K
Jonathan Ortiz: 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 1 K – even with his recent struggles, he’s still allowed only 26 baserunners against 53 K in 32.2 IP this year
