Game 28: Girardi's 1,000th
Yankees fall 10-5 to Rays in 14 ridiculous innings

OF Ramon Flores earned a spot in the “In The Team Photo” section of this week’s Prospect Hot Sheet. Matt Eddy also put together a cool piece looking at the area scouts who have produced the most big leaguers since 2010. Victor Mata, who is the Yankees’ crosschecker in the Dominican Republic, is tied for the fifth most with six. The team has three other area scouts who produced at least three big leaguers during that time, which is above average compared to the rest of the league.

Triple-A Scranton (10-0 loss to Norfolk)

  • CF Ramon Flores: 0-3, 1 BB, 1 K
  • 3B Scott Sizemore: 1-4, 3 K — 36 strikeouts in 78 total plate appearances this year (46.2%)
  • SS Dean Anna: 1-4, 1 3B, 2 K
  • LF Ronnie Mustelier: 2-3
  • C Austin Romine: 0-2, 1 BB — having just a brutal, brutal season
  • RHP Brian Gordon: 5.2 IP, 8 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 2 BB, 6 K, 4/4 GB/FB — 67 of 102 pitches were strikes (66%)

Double-A Trenton (8-1 win over Richmond)

  • CF Mason Williams: 0-3, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K
  • SS Brendan Ryan: 2-4, 2 R
  • 3B Rob Segedin: 1-3, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB
  • DH Gary Sanchez: 1-3, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB — second homer in his last six games
  • 1B Kyle Roller: 2-3, 3 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K — fifth homer in his last nine games
  • 2B Rob Refsnyder: 0-4, 1 E (fielding)
  • RHP Graham Stoneburner: 5.2 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 1 HB, 5/7 GB/FB — 53 of 78 pitches were strikes (68%)
  • SwP Pat Venditte: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 1/0 GB/FB — 23 of 35 pitches were strikes (65%) … 20/5 K/BB in 13 innings

High-A Tampa‘s doubleheader was rained out. I’m not sure when they will make these two games up.

Low-A Charleston (4-3 loss to Delmarva)

  • SS Abi Avelino: 0-3, 1 RBI
  • DH Tyler Wade: 1-4, 1 RBI — 13-for-42 (.310) in his last ten games
  • RF Aaron Judge: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 K
  • 3B Miguel Andujar: 1-4, 1 2B, 2 K
  • 2B Gosuke Katoh: 3-4, 2 R, 1 2B, 1 K, 1 SB — 10-for-26 (.385) in his last seven games, so he’s starting to heat up
  • RHP Luis Severino: 6 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 7 K, 5/2 GB/FB — 58 of 88 pitches were strikes (66%), though one of those walks was intentional … 29/8 K/BB in 25 innings
