A trade! The Yankees have traded RHP Matt Wotherspoon to the Orioles for an undisclosed sum of international bonus pool money, the team announced. Wotherspoon is a bit of a long shot sleeper. The 25-year-old has a 1.85 ERA (2.42 FIP) with 29.4% strikeouts and 6.5% walks in 39 innings between Double-A and Triple-A this year. The 2017-18 international signing period opened today and the Yankees signed a bunch of players. Here’s a quick recap. I’ll have more on this year’s international class in a few days, once the dust settles.
Triple-A Scranton (14-7 win over Pawtucket)
- CF Jake Cave: 2-5, 2 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB
- 1B Ji-Man Choi: 2-5, 2 R, 2 HR, 5 RBI — second two-homer game in his last four games, and sixth homer in his last ten games … he hit two homers in his first 45 games of the season
- 3B Miguel Andujar: 2-6, 1 2B, 1 K — now 11-for-32 (.344) with two doubles and two homers in nine Triple-A games
- RF Billy McKinney: 2-5, 2 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 2 K — 22-for-58 (.379) with six doubles, two triples, and two homers in his last 16 games
- LF Mark Payton: 2-5, 2 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI

- RHP J.P. Feyereisen: 3 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 0 K, 3/5 GB/FB — 27 of 42 pitches were strikes (64%)
Double-A Trenton Game One (14-3 win over New Hampshire in seven innings)
- 2B Jorge Mateo: 2-5, 2 R, 1 3B, 1 HR, 5 RBI, 1 K, 1 E (throwing) — now 10-for-19 (.526) with five walks in five games with Trenton
- LF Tito Polo: 2-5, 2 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K, 1 SB — threw a runner out at the plate

- RHP Domingo Acevedo: 5 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 1 ER 2 BB, 7 K, 2 HB, 4/3 GB/FB — 72 of 103 pitches were strikes (70%) … 107/23 K/BB in 99 innings
Double-A Trenton Game Two (6-3 win over New Hampshire in seven innings) makeup of Friday’s rainout
- 2B Jorge Mateo: 2-4, 2 R, 1 3B, 1 K, 1 HBP, CS — man oh man how awesome would it be if the promotion lit a fire under Mateo’s butt? it’s still only six games though … small sample size, grain of salt, etc. etc.
- CF Tito Polo: 4-5, 2 R, 2 2B, 2 RBI, 2 SB — 8-for-12 (.667) with two doubles, one triple, one homer, and three steals in three games since the promotion … he could really help himself with a strong half-season at this level … he’ll be Rule 5 Draft eligible after the season and the Yankees probably won’t be able to fit him on the 40-man roster … I definitely think Polo could help as a fourth outfielder and stick on an MLB roster next season
- SS Thairo Estrada: 1-4, 1 R, 1 BB
- RHP Anyelo Gomez: 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, 3/1 GB/FB, 2 E (both pickoff) — 17 of 34 pitches were strikes (50%) in the spot start

- RHP Dillon Tate: 7 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 11 K, 1 WP, 5/2 GB/FB — 68 of 87 pitches were strikes (78%) … 21/3 K/BB in 18.1 innings since coming back from the shoulder issue
Low-A Charleston (11-0 loss to Augusta)
- SS Diego Castillo: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 E (fielding) — has hit safely in 16 of his last 18 games, going 21-for-76 (.276) in those 18 games
- CF Blake Rutherford & RF Isiah Gilliam: both 0-3 — Gilliam struck out
- RHP Nick Green: 4 IP, 11 H, 8 R, 8 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 Balk, 10/0 GB/FB — 55 of 87 pitches were strikes (63%) … allowed nine runs total in his previous six starts
