One way or the other, Aaron Boone was going to be back into baseball this year. Boone told Bob Nightengale he was set to leave ESPN and take a front office job with an unknown team before the Yankees came calling about their managerial gig. “I was really planning to make the transition into the game, whether that role led to coaching, managing, or a significant front office role,” he said. This is the open thread for the evening. The Olympics start tonight, so that’s cool. The Knicks, Islanders, and Devils are all playing as well, and there are some college basketball games on too.
