The five-game losing streak came to an end last night. Tonight the Yankees have a chance to begin a new winning streak. They’ve been hard to come by lately. The Yankees have been toeing the .500 line for a few weeks now and haven’t won as many as four straight games since mid-June. Would be cool to do that again.
Anyway, CC Sabathia is on the mound tonight looking to rebound from his grueling three-inning, 77-pitching outing against the Red Sox last week. The White Sox positively stink, but they do have some right-handed batters who can punish lefties, so tonight’s start won’t necessarily be a walk in the park. Hopefully the offense make life easy for Sabathia tonight like they did for Lance Lynn last night. Here are the starting lineups:
New York Yankees
1. CF Aaron Hicks
2. RF Giancarlo Stanton
3. SS Didi Gregorius
4. 2B Gleyber Torres
5. 1B Greg Bird
6. DH Miguel Andujar
7. 3B Neil Walker
8. C Kyle Higashioka
9. LF Shane Robinson
LHP CC Sabathia
Chicago White Sox
1. SS Tim Anderson
2. RF Avisail Garcia
3. 1B Jose Abreu
4. DH Matt Davidson
5. 2B Yoan Moncada
6. LF Ryan LaMarre
7. 3B Yolmer Sanchez
8. CF Adam Engel
9. C Omar Narvaez
RHP Reynaldo Lopez
It rained briefly this afternoon but the showers have cleared out and we’ll have baseball tonight. First pitch is scheduled for 8:10pm ET and YES will have the broadcast. Enjoy the game.
Injury Update: Aaron Judge (wrist) still has not started swinging a bat. He’s doing everything (agility drills, throwing, etc.) except swing a bat. That should happen soon … Austin Romine is fine. He caught five straight games recently and Aaron Boone is just giving him back-to-back days off … In case you missed it earlier, Jacoby Ellsbury underwent season-ending surgery yesterday to repair a torn labrum in his hip. He is expected to complete his rehab in time for Spring Training.
