They only need a fifth starter 3 times. If we’re lucky that will mean 20 innings.
I betcha they give him this one start, then throw Moose back in there. Course that could all change depending how he pitches.
i can’t believe all three of them have debuted this year. i remember cashman saying ideally they want hughes in AAA all year. he comes up, then joba, now kennedy. i love it. the three headed monster is alive !

I can’t imagine they’ll start him more than once or twice. He’s already at the 30-inning jump (136 this year, 104 last year), and while the Yanks are close enough right now to push that some, having him throw 160 innings would be a little too risky.

Agreed Dan, that draft last year is almost too good to be true. If the Yanks were a crappy, small market team, they’d be calling it a franchise changing draft.
IPK & Joba in the bigs, McAllister looking like a stud, Curtis in AA, Fortenberry on the cusp of 20-20, Hilligoss racking up hits like no body’s business…oh, and then there’s Betances & Melancon. Insane in the membrane.

considering I was accused about 10 days ago on this site(not by the fellas who run it but by someone else) of being “fucking stupid” for suggesting the Yanks could, should, and would bring up IPK to pitch in September this is particularly sweet…

Limp? I think he can walk okay. His arm surgery however will prevent that.
Sanchez has begun a throwing program though. He’s expected back mid-summer 2008.

This has officially made my day. Beating the Red Sox helps too.
I do believe I also predicted Cashman would throw Moose under the bus if he had another bad start. There’s too much playoff revenue at stake for that fiasco to continue. I think it’s now clear that the FO is completely in command and JT is a lame duck manager.
But even I really never thought they would actually call up IPK! I’m thrilled and worried for the kid at the same time. But no matter what happens, at least there’s a CHANCE that the guy who starts on Saturday won’t give up half a dozen before the Yanks bat three times. That’s all we can ask for.
They can place Andrew Brackman on the 60-day-DL to make room for IPK.
I love coming into the office on mornings like this, knowing everyone will be miserable because the Yankees won last night. Even better is knowing that Cashman is fully in control of this ballclub. And even better than that was watching Chamberlain making the Sox look foolish.
