Game 113: ZOMG A LEFTY!!11!11!
ByWhy is Jason Giambi sitting tonight? Why? Why why why why why? Texas starter Matt Harrison is a lefty, that’s why. Never freaking mind that Giambi has .919 OPS against LHP in a not insignificant sampling of 112 plate appearances this year (.895 OPS vs RHP), or that he went 3 for 4 with a homer yesterday, or that big league lefties are hitting (this is too good) .500-.563-.923 against Harrison in his young career. Erg.
David Robertson, get ready, you’re the next contestant on “Let’s See If You Can Magically Pitch Out Of Self-Induced Trouble Despite Being Left In The Game For Far Too Long.” The previous two participants – Edwar Ramirez & Damaso Marte – had to settle for consolation prizes: a four-slot toaster, and a parrot that can’t talk. Good luck!
1. Damon, LF
2. Jeter, SS
3. Abreu, RF
4. A-Rod, 3B
5. X(BH) Nady, DH
6. Cano, 2B
7. Dick Lock Sexy Sexson, 1B – you gotta earn that nickname
8. Molina, C
9. Christian, CF – two straight starts huh? interesting…
And on the mound, Andy “sure, you can” Pettitte.
Notes: Joba’s MRI is heading to Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion, which sounds really bad, but anyone with half a brain understands that something like this gets second, third, and fourth opinions, plus the last pitch he threw yesterday registered 96, something you can’t do with a major shoulder issue … this is a few days old, but the guys at Baseball America broke down the trade deadline action podcast style, don’t miss it, really really good stuff … despite all the doom & gloom lately, the Yanks are only 2.5 GB of a playoff spot, they’re just a good weekend away from leading the Wildcard …
Explain the (BH) next to nadys name for me plzz…
(X)tra (B)ase-(H)its
Now I am a little bit nervous about Joba. At first I was like being pretty optimistic and how the feedback was positive news
But he goes to visit Dr. James Andrews. I understand this takes 3 or 4 maybe 5 opinions but visiting James Andrews is usually not good news.
Hopefully it’s the yanks being really, really cautious and meeting the best of the best which is usually Dr. James Andrews.
Have one question, did James Andrews perform the first TJS?
Wiki says it was Dr. Frank Jobe, whoever the hell that is.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_John_surgery
Is it safe to say that Joba might not comeback this season?
No, he might not. But what do we know? A whole lotta nothing. The Yanks will do whatever is in the best interests of Joba.
Technically they will do what is in the best interest of the Yankees. In this case, that probably overlaps, but as we saw with the Boston/Schilling situation that’s not always the case.
there really is no basis for the speculation, but in my personal opinion, i think you are close enough to the end of the season where if he’s going to miss two or three weeks, do you really expect to see him rehab and make two starts the last 2 weeks of the season?
Frank Jobe is partners with another famed TJS surgeon, Dr. Lewis Yocum.
That heckler in Tampa is really getting on Kelly Shoppach.
that guy shouldnt be allowed to get in.
Wow, Jose Vidro was finally DFA’ed.
Was it Vidro they were trying to pawn off on the Yankees (or what was rumored)?
Yeah, I believe so.
Heh.
http://yankees.lhblogs.com/200.....ent-478707
wow everybody knows you hate melky.
You know how you know when a blog’s readers really suck? When you laugh at one comment then in the ensuing two comments your head hurts from reading sheer stupidity.
has melky lost his starting job?
fine with me…
i dont think so.
to me, Christian is a great bench player. he’s not a starter, either.
its amazing… $200 million, and we’re stuck juggling 3 different 4th OFers to patrol CF in the Bronx.
i dunno, red sox spend a lot of money … and they’ve got 2 crap CF’s as well.
not $200 million.
Yo what the fuck has gotten into Brandon Laird?
Our prospects tend to go on a little tear whenever Mike says something even remotely negative about them (see: De La Rosa, Wilkins; Jackson, Austin).
Keep calling A-Jax uninspiring. I’m happy with the results.
You know who sucks? Phil Hughes. And that Ian Kennedy fellow won’t be any more than a 5th starter … on a AA team.
Schnikees. I told you the dude can rake.
http://riveraveblues.com/2007/.....aird-1817/
Was I the only one a bit surprised that in a game where the River Dogs get sixteen knocks, Jesus Montero gets only one?
Well what can I say, when Montero doesn’t hit, it takes 8 guys to pick up the slack.
Yea but it was a two run double.
Anybody think with a couple more weeks of sucky Richie Sexson and Juan Miranda raking, that we will see a Miranda appearance in the Bronx?
Maybe what can bring Miranda up are the continued struggles of Melky Cabrera. Then you can move both Johnny Damon and Xavier Nady into the outfield with Jason Giambi and Juan Miranda as the 1B/DH tandem.
maybe as a part of Sept callups… idk, something tells me the Yankees arent taking Miranda seriously. at least not yet. maybe they prove me wrong, though…
Miranda’s already on the 40 man, might as well call him up. Sexson’s been beyond useless.
Isn’t Miranda’s defense at 1B even worse that Giambi’s? As in he has little to no range, but can’t even pick it? At least thats what I’ve heard. The nice thing is that Sexson can double as a late inning defensive replacement (except hes not hitting lefties like they picked him up to do, so thats about all he is right now).
I hope the Yankees just come to their senses and bat Giambi against lefties so this isn’t an issue.
Though it’s a small sample size, Sexson is actually doing worse with the Yankees, than the Mariners
and does this really surprise anyone??
Juan Miranda is batting .220 against lefties this year. When exactly would we be using him?
Against RHP? Like I said, bench Melky, put Damon or Nady in CF (other goes in LF), put Giambi at 1B, and Miranda at DH.
Ah, the bench Melky approach. That changes everything (for the better).
People didn’t like this idea when I proposed it on dotf yesterday
I am for it
Outside of Jason Heyward and Michael Stanton, is there a better overall positional prospect than Jesus Montero in the Sally?
No, and Montero > Stanton. Nick Noonan is a stud, he’d be the 4th member of that group. Villalona and Kalish deserve a mention.
Freddie Freeman has produce very well. He has been terrific.
Overall, it’s not crazy to say but with the Bat, Montero might have the best upside. Although I take Heyward over him.
Yeah, makes that whole Jordan Schaffer ordeal quite meaningless, no?
mike you missed “one” in the game thread title. it should be:
Game 113: ZOMG A LEFTY!!11!11!one!1!!
Or
Game 113: ZOMG A LEFTY!!11!11!eleven!1!!
LOL.
Mike, are you as miffed on the Rob Scahill non-offer as NoMass’ draft guru, Lane Meyer?
http://www.nomaas.org/draft/?p=109
Definitely not. Low-90’s two-seamer, low-80’s slider, developing change, no command? Yawn me. Great value at the 48th pick, but guys like that literally grow on trees, right along the 5 in La Jolla.
I had no idea Harrison threw this hard.
Cervilli seems to have found his way to AA
wow, looked like that Abreu drive was held up from the wind, no?
Wasn’t that guy supposed to throw in the 88-91mph range?
Yo andy Pettitte ERA is pretty solid for a guy who has two games where he gave up 10 Earn Runs.
Thought Pettitte got squeezed there.
Fuck this hick state.
ha!
doctor andy is the best in the business. you can take this news one of two ways. 1, they know hes okay and just want to MAKE SURE HES FINEEE. and 2, he is pretty bad or something minor and want to see to a further extent if hes that bad or not. with me im going with the second one. and thats too god damn bad. we are looking at “27/09″
Id take it as a double check, nothing major, just want to make sure cause they want to be careful, probably was going to andrews no matter what, even if nothing came up with the MRI, I think they did the same thing with Jorge
well doublechecking … how? positive or negative sense?
Yo was that a legit HR or was that help with the Hot air and that Jet Stream?
Was that Mark Feinsand to the right of Joe Girardi?
Looked like him.
hmpf. not quite the start i was hoping for.
This sucks.
ok two things, andy pettite sucks. umps love to squeeze him. and why the FUCK is giambi sitting after that night last night? dont give me some heat excuse
How old are you and how many times have you seen Andy Pettite pitch?
plenty of times within the last 7 days to know he is struggling and not living up to his reputation of a second half pitcher.
Yeah, what a sample size. Take the 7 days over the 15 years.
ok thats nice. hes a different pitcher now and since hes been back than before he left.
So what about his previous 5 starts? He’s had a TON of good 7 day spans this year as well as this bad one.
dont argue… just ignore until he ends up at LoHud.
yes, yes … don’t feed teh joey
i take things for face value. pettite can be as good as he wants in july. now is august. we need him to step up. and hes not doing it thus far. my take, his slow start and now slump is a direct result of his lack of time to train during the offseason
ok so, what yo uare telling me. is a defined stopper. in andy pettite. can throw 5 good starts, and when we just had a huge blow to our rotation will go out there, and get bombed? c’monnnn mannn. thinkkk thinkkkk.
You’re such a goddam fool. Please go away
look at that, a power lefty homers against a lefty pitcher. i hope girardi is taking notes.
By the way all those Richie Sexson defensive replacement people, his ZR is worse than Giambi & Betemit…so no value there
Just shows how good our manager is. Richie Sexson over Giambi when there’s no defensive gain and certainly no coming close in terms of offense.
Does anybody else want Igawa to get rocked continually at AAA so theres NO way he slots into the rotation? He’s already got 4BB in 4IP.
you just had to mention his name didnt you.
See, if Isiah Thomas were still around we could probably trade Richie Sexson to him for a future first round draft pick and cash. Then take some other 6-8 guy and teach him HOW TO HIT THE GODDAMNED BASEBALL, ARGH.
I want him to get rocked in AAA, go to AA and get rocked there, then A, then Rookie ball. Then I hope they send him back to college, then high school and see him get rocked at every level. I have never seen a guy look so sad, un-confident, pathetic, weak, etc, etc, etc on the mound.
im sure if you are his age they would want you to speak english in college.
Yeah, usually for the athletes they’d overlook that, but only the good ones.
ugh i can’t take this rangers broadcasts … they just interviewed three clowns in the stands.
i’m not joking
i’m sorry if anyones parents are clowns, but why anyone would go down that career path i will never know.
Josh Beckett is failing again.
Looking a lot like 2006 for Beckett this year, without the run support. And without Manny, it’s not coming anytime soon.
hes back to 06 form. ive been saying this all season. especially when that back acted up.
Getting into scoring position in the first inning is so meaningless.
Stupid hicks.
i can be way wrong but does it look like sexon uses a tee ball bat? or is it just how tall he is. if so i suggest he trys to see if any of alfonso’s bats are still laying around after all these years. and wow hes a real cocksucker . as i type this he hit into that DP
Posted in wrong thread:
See, if Isiah Thomas were still around we could probably trade Richie Sexson to him for a future first round draft pick and cash. Then take some other 6-8 guy and teach him HOW TO HIT THE GODDAMNED BASEBALL, ARGH.
how about we resurect the storied baseball career of MJ michael jordan? maybe he can bring some of his rings, we can use a few of those too
Come on Pettitte.
Why do yankee pitchers do that. Because you don’t get calls on the corners doesn’t mean you need to throw it down the middle. This is the best offense in the league. You make your own breaks and I still stand by my words when I declaired this season over.
bit dramatic that the season is over, I get the pessimism, but we still have 6 games against the Sox & Rays, so we can even take care of our own business.
They might make the Playoff but they are not a world series caliber team. There are wayyyyyy better teams than them.
Certainly, but there were way better teams than the 2006 Cards, or the 2002 Halos, or the 1996 Yankees. Just get in, then figure it out from there.
I never said they couldn’t win it. They just aren’t at the same level as the Angels, Sox(both) and Cubs are.
Hey in a short series anything can happen, plus, it’s not the Red Sox are great.
Better than the first two teams but not the 96 Yanks.
charleston already up 7-0 damn
You know things are going well when Angelini jacks one.
That team is very talented. 3 run HR from LAird and Angelini.
Ugh GIDP Jeter at it again.
What a terrible job Pettitte has done for this team when they’ve need him the most.
Gotta make that play Cano.
bad hop off the lip of the grass. Happens.
Iight, Yanks can certainly comeback.
against someone with a 7.something era? Doubt it.
especially not an U.R.P.
They certainly can, but then you remember the first 112 games of the season and how bad the offense has been, especially when they are down early, and things don’t look very promising.
if it’s one thing this team has proven is that it has balls. The series’ splits against Boston and the Halos proved that much, especially the Sunday game.
Balls of steel.
How about that Danny Haren contract? Talk about team friendly. Now they just have to hope he stays healthy.
Cervelli has quite the average at AA right now
It was a shame what happened to him at the beginning of the season
Seem the national league has figured out Volquez a little bit.
or Dusty Baker has destroyed him in record time. i’d bet on the latter.
haha. Dusty Baker. Baseball’s version of the homewrecker.
talk about hitting them where they are so far tonoght
Not great omen when Molina and Sexson suck and hit bullets but nothing to show for it.
They Mets are getting one hit by my boy Chris Young.
that makes me smile.
ok, seriously, is Tatis being tested under the same steroid policy as every other MLB player?
Man, J Christ has balls.
Double steal?
Fo shizzle, especially with the RHB at the plate.
4-6-3 Jeter at the plate.
AKA 5-3 Jeter now.
Double steal, please.
Jeter doing what he does best.
Jeter is soooo bad guys
Is anyone surprised? Seriously.
well, i didnt see that DP coming
The Yankees are a joke.
But no ones laughing.
Dude a week ago the yankees could do no wrong, but lose one game, and go down early in the next, and suddenly we are a joke. Learn to be a fan or leave
Good teams beat good teams AND bad teams.
Dude the red sox just lost to the royals, and are a terrible road team.
but they will still find a way to get home field advantage. And the Sox are managed properly.
really?
Yeah, calling them a joke is pointless. If you’d have told me in April that Darrell Rasner, Dan Giese, and Sidney Ponson had made several starts each, Wang would be done for the year, Kennedy and Hughes were winless between them, Posada would be done for the year, A-Rod would miss time, Cano would suck for 1/2 year and they are STILL in contention for both the WC and Division, I would be THRILLED with this team. I mean, what am I missing?
Kei Igawa made a few starts
Exactly. I knew there was more to pile on.
Seriously. I’m with you on this one.
A clutch DP by Jeter.
Check out the list of guys who have grounded into the most double plays
1. Cal Ripken+ 350 R
2. Hank Aaron+ 328 R
3. Carl Yastrzemski+* 323 L
4. Dave Winfield+ 319 R
5. Eddie Murray+# 316 B
Good group Jeter will be joining
How the fuck is Fernando Tatis doing this?
hmm, smoke and mirrors?
perhaps he’s Barry Bonds, but wearing a Fernando Tatis mask?
I’m sick of this fair weather shit, getting on a player during a slump is one thing, but don’t turn on the team after one loss.
i agree it does get ridic……i think we are in alot of trouble but we might be able to pull something off and be right there in the end of september..we got alot of time left
Agreed, I’ll bust on Jeter’s dp’s, Abreus defense and baserunning in good fun, but come on, this team as it sits now, is performing better than you could ask. With the riff-raff they have put on the mound this year, they shouldn’t be battling for the playoffs, and they are. Give Girardi a ton of credit for it too. And cash with the recent moves.
Nice outing for Betances so far.
hows he doing ???
And for Ivan Nova too.
nice to see joey joe joe doing his best to enable jeter to set new personal bests in killing rallies by grounding into double plays …
nice of jeter to make adjustments and stop drilling low pitches into the ground with runners on …
gah.
yea i mean we might as well just bench him! he is so not an everyday player anymore, what is joe thinking?
fucking idiot
Just DFA him and bring in Vidro, he’d play a better short than Jeter too, and he’s a switch hitter.
kidding, clearly
ummm, you wanna clarify that?
that was for chucky’s comment, not steve’s.
Seriously, who didn’t own a pair of superman Pajamas.
Gotta be Pudge, right? Juan Gone wasn’t there long enough.
Question, please.
Most hits in Ranger’s history.
Who holds the record for most hits in a rangers uniform.
I’d say Michael Young, but I’m usually wayyy wrong.
Watch, it’ll be Rusty Greer.
Good call. As I remember, he was a free swinger, and before the injuries took their toll had some 200 hit seasons. Though Young has a bunch in a row, I think you’ve got a good shot with Greer
Man tomorrow’s game might start the football season folks.
seriously, 2.5 games back and you think we are out of it? im done with this for tonight you people are making me sick! i have never seen such a shitty group of fans, might be time to find a new game blog cause this is pathetic
I heard the Giants had a bad scrimmage today, must be Basketball season tomorrow.
And the Knicks are the Knicks, so should we start the countdown to next spring training?
You don’t get it.
See what I mean’t was that with Ponson and some crappy ranger pitching, it could be 14-13. A football score and the football season is beginning.
The last Angels game was one of the best games I’ve ever seen and even if they had a bunch of unearned runs,it ws fun. If Joba had been Joba and carried us into the 7th last night, it would be different. We can’t afford another pitcher to go down…but esp not the future ace. I think we’re all just cranky right now. I know I was cranky for quite a few days after CMW went down.
Matt Harrison is just asking to get lit up.
And we’re saying, no thanks, stay inflammable
mike young
How many Yankee fans you think said “Fucking A-Rod” or “Typical A-Rod”, but stayed quite as hell when Jeter did it?
Unfortunately it seems that the Jeter haters have come out in full force as well
A-rod doing his best Jeter impersanation.
Damn,double plays to kill rallies..Pathetic.
Really random comment but Sexson playing tonight is fucking terrible.
Does anybody see the harm in flipping Damon and Jeter..I’m sure it’s already been brought up in here, but I don’t always get a chance to follow the threads
If my math is right, Pudge has 1540, so young is out of the question
yeah its wrong, skipped a season.
given the pitching has been a little iffy lately (and if Joba misses time more so) they should consider bringing up miranda and going offensive in CF
Betances so far: 5.2ip,3h,0r,0er,1bb,5ks. Man,if he keeps holding those walks down, watch out.
And Ivan Nova:6ip,5h,1r,1er,0bb,5ks. Gave up a solo shot.
Ugh, stop it with bringing the IF in.
we can hit this guy and this bullpen…. its bound to happen just needs to happen soon enough
no we cant… double wammy– lefty pitcher, and a rookie most of our hitters have never faced before.
this game is bugging me.
This season is bugging me
The Tuesday and Friday games from last week aggravated me to a degree. This game not so much, this fucking ballpark in July and August makes you leave all expectation at the door.
wow a hitter doing worst than Melky.
You don’t see that every day. Quick! Make a wish!
Anyone think there’s a chance that Joba’s injury really took the sails out of this team for the moment? Is such a residual effect possible? Or is it more just the overall inconsistent play we’ve seen all year?
It’s this piece o’ shit state.
You really hate texas dont you.
name me one good reason not to… besides the gals over at U of T/Austin.
I have family down there so I can’t hate it that much, but when I visited when I was younger I just remember the unbearable heat. The word scorching was invented for Texas heat.
As a whole, I think injuries have derailed this team the most. They go on a tear and then someone goes down (see: Wang and now Joba).
Well look on the bright side, at we don’t have Michael Kay wine and bitch about the Yanks struggles.
Not as nice as Alexi Ramirez, but it will do.
I was JUST going to say that lol.
Nice little play
Pettitte certainly picks great instances to suck.
so does this offense.
He doesn’t actually pick them, as a religious man, the Lord works through him, so blame God.
id love to see him point up to the sky after his next walk.
so … you’re blaming Mo???
them might be fightin’ words, sir!
Not blaming Mo, he’s a different kind of Diety
Are you fucking serious man? What the hell is wrong with everyone? Have you watched Andy Pettitte at all during his Yankee career? This comment is assanine
What do you mean, he sucks in the playoffs too, he’s got 7 playoff losses. (IGNORE THE 18 WINS)
Fausto Carmona threw more balls than strikes tonight. Yikes.
If Andy Marte can show he has a pulse in that wood bat the Tribe can take the lead.
Not surprising, considering his BB rate is dreadful.
Ponson was 50/50 against the Angels. Talk about a fluke. He’s gonna get crushed in Texas (but the O will pick him up, they owe him that) But actually, if everyone else struggles in the Texas heat, will Ponson even be able to climb the dugout steps?
a Sidney Ponson ‘fat’ joke? never heard that before. good stuff.
Sorry, it wasn’t meant to be a fat joke. We all know he’s just “big boned”
but if all the good players suck, then maybe the sucky players get good. Perhaps Ponson will be great. And maybe Melky should have started.
leave it to the yankees to make the rangers pitching look good
Somebody forgot to tell our players we are facing a 7+ ERA pitcher.
B.J. Upton can really, really cover some ground. He just glides out there.
The yankees are making him look like Santana.
Joe G def needs to put Jeter in the leadoff spot. Or 9th.
Check out David Cone droppin’ George Kontos’ and Phil Coke’s names.
must not take the Joe Morgan philosphy on reading about prospects
Mike, you calling the ol’ tying run will come to the plate deal tonight?
Just seen “The Ruins” today, wow. Can’t top “Hostile” in that genre but it is a damn good number two.
Why is A-Rod getting a Yankeeography already? He’s a great player, and probably will deserve one, and yes he’s won 2 MVP awards, but c’mon, he’s been with the team for 5 years and the Yankees haven’t advanced past the ALCS with him. I’m not saying it’s his fault, but shouldn’t a player achieve some sort of glory before he gets a Yankeeography?
“…sort of glory…”? Like winning two MVP awards in his first four years as a Yankee? Like having one of the best offensive seasons in the history of professional baseball?
I see what you mean about the October stuff, but come on, the man has had his glory in quite the short time as a Bronx Bomber.
Did I mention the MVPs? Yea I did. Did I blame him for the Yankees postseason failures? No I did not. He is probably my 2nd favorite Yankee after JOBA (because he is so good, I like good players, period). I just think it’s a tad bit premature to give a Yankeeography midway through his 5th season, while he’s still on the team.
He’s gonna be here for the next 10 years.
Yeah, he’s put up with a bunch of bullshit people not appreciating him for a long time
Gotta sell DVDs
man wish we had already signed Bliech already, some of these 2008 draft picks have already been promoted, would be fun to follow
A Catcher sliding into first base, ha!
Top 6 inning we have the top order coming up, third time through the order, lets see if the yanks pimp slap this dude.
Laird just stole Melky’s move.
When did we trade Melky to Texas?
That ball was hit too hard to come off Melky’s bat.
Lets Go.
Let’s get a rally goin here
Didn’t we used to own the Rangers?
Yeah, strangely when they were good too.
Fuck, let’s get this thing going.
Nice triple by Johnny
watch Jeter hit a line drive to the 3B, who steps on the bag to double up Damon…
That’s what the fuck Im talking about.
if Jeter finds a way to gidp, i’ll give him props
Jeter, there’s no way you can GIDP. Please, just get your ass on-base.
P-fucking-thetic. This guy had an ERA of 237.5 entering the game. Naturally he shuts us down. An 0-2 start on a make or break trip would be tought. The bats need to wake up and Andy needs to pull his head from his arse.
I believe Andy has settled in nicely. He’s good for one more inning I’d say.
Yeah, maybe the Yanks should have something like a ‘rally mustache’.
A rally killing sac fly by the Cap’n. Way to keep it movin’.
word but hey we got a run.
I thought jeter hit that ball better.
Alright, it’s a start
The Tribe has runners on the corners, nobody out, down by one in the seventh. We really need Tampa to lose, if a comeback is not in the cards for us, dropping seven back in the loss column would not be ideal to say the least.
Hope they get a bunch, their pen is pretty bad these days.
Balfour is good.
Sorry, I mean cleveland’s pen is bad, so I hope they give their own pen a big lead.
Good.
In response to your earlier comment (I’m just arriving), read the Ruins. It is SO much scarier than the movie. Creepiest book I’ve ever read.
really? are we still looking at the division?
im focused on the WC.
2.5 is a lot easier to reach than 5.5.
hope the saux lose, not the rays. lets get real here.
Keep all avenues open.
Unless they are playing each other, why don’t we hope they both lose?
Don’t worry about either. One game at the time. All they can do right now is win today.
win 2 out of 3, or 66% of their remaining games, and they end up with 93 wins.
anything less, and you really have to wonder if they’ve got a serious chance.
These Rangers announcers are something special.
Aaron Heilman comes in for the 9th with a 4 run lead, and he promptly walks the first hitter on 4 pitches…
vintage Heilman
How in the world is this Matt Harrison guy doing this to the Yanks?
chipping away
Wow, Ken Singleton played baseball in Texas during the 1960’s? That must have sucked beyond belief.
Rays are about to get out of their jam unscathed
Seriously, who is Byrd? I haven’t heard of him ever.
You’ve never heard of Marlon Byrd?
Can’t say I have.
Big time prospect once upon a time. Never developed as hope though.
Traded straight up for Endy Chavez at one point.
Fuck Cleveland.
Seriously.
Umm… more like Fuck Us… if we can’t even beat a crappy rookie pitcher, we shouldn’t expect anyone else to help us out.
what do you guys think we have to play like 700 ball the rest of the way to make the playoffs ???
If the Yanks lose this game and play .700 ball the rest of the season, they’ll finish the year 95-67. That should definitely get them in the playoffs.
That, or maybe something more realistic like rubbing a lot of lamps and hoping they find a magic one.
34-17 to win 95-games.
Sorry, 33-17 to win 94-games.
I’ve seen absolutely nothing over the first 112 games that tells me this team can play .700 ball. I can’t even see .600 ball considering the home/road splits.
That Cutter literally cut a sliver off his bat off.
*sigh* 8 in a row then drop 7 of 10 to negate the gains…
pretty much
This game is really ticking me the fuck off.
Oh my God, the Mets’ bullpen is fucking atrocious.
omg the yankees are atrocious.
Mets play in a bitch ass league. The Phillies and Marlins are not better than the Sox or Rays.
Oh my goodness do the Mets suck.
Barely squeaked out that win.
They do suck, but right now, so do our Yankees….
Where the fuck are those pitches.
You know, intentionally walking Chris Davis does not help my fantasy team.
ditto, if only obp was a category
it appears that intentionally walking chris davis did much of anything for your real team, either …
That intentional walk looks great now…DAMN IT
The Yanks have played like they are itching to get blown out tonight, but the Rangers have kept them relatively alive.
The Yankees are playing like a team that got a punch to the stomach last night and havent recovered yet.
The Yankees will call up Ian Kennedy to start Saturday in place of Joba Chamberlain, sources told Suzyn Waldman of WCBS.
Kennedy would likely have a chance of sticking in the rotation once Chamberlain returns, but he’ll have to perform well. AL-only leaguers won’t want him active right away.
Rotoworld
i’ll take it, prefer that than going back to Rasner
Can you smell a grand slam?
I swear this team looks either great or terrrible
well at least the dp is back in order
This team is definately a joke, just a bad one.
This is just great.
Love all you youngsters who are becoming to realize the reality that the Yankees will most likely not make the playoffs this season. Believe it or not there was a time when this did happen, I aint that old but do remember them sucking until I reached high-school, and while I am as frustrated as all you guys (just go back and read some of my comments) this latest injury to Joba has pretty much cemented that this is a bad-luck season where it most likely isnt meant to be….
quitter.
We are making the playoffs. And that’s that.
its not quitting, its facing reality and not going crazy over the fact that god-forbid the Yankees miss the playoffs this season with almost half their freakin roster injured….
this sucks right now
Fuck the mets.
we could still make playoffs big blue al
Yes we can, but not making it isnt the end of the world for the simple fact that injuries have killed this team. Now not having Joba and Wang, forget it no team can lose their best 2 pitchers plus their starting catcher and DH plus lose their best player (ARod) for over 20 games earlier in the season…
Evan Longoria hit three Home Runs in one AB. Two foul, one for real.
I like a pitcher that isn’t afraid to challenge hitters. Shows some balls.
Robertson has balls of steel.
Ok, so maybe D-Rob can be trusted in a spot like last night. I’m sure Joe G. has taken notice.
Another bright spot in what apparently is the worst team/season in Yankee history judging by some of these posts.
Good job D Rob!
we need a roy halladay
David Robertson just show me something man.
UUUUUUUUUGE strikeouts by D-Rob.
Robertson getting out of it, maybe that will ignite something offensively
Why are they playing the FOX sports jingle in the stadium?
I said that yesterday.
I love this guy.
Yo this pitcher is getting mad lucky. that’s like our third hit ball that struck hard.
Get some fuckin runs.
Holy Shit 2 walks for Cano tonight!!!
All the reports on Robertson that I remember were that he had a very strong curveball and an average fastball. I see the complete opposite. A very strong FB spotted well and an ordinary CB.
Wow. I take back the comment about his “ordinary CB.” Wow!
Just PH sexson.
Why is Sexson hitting here? I’m sorry I don’t give a shit about his nonsense small sample size stats against lefties, he’s HORRENDOUS. Let Giambi play
I can’t agree more
bullshit ass call.
Should have taken one for the team
Sexson, you doofy mother fucker, that pitch was a foot outside.
Take the walk sexson.
It’s about time Sexson did something. Big opportunity now.
I cannot believe my eyes, Sexson with a XBH!
And we’ll all shut up now
Two rockets and a walk in this inning, time for the bullpen.
Lets be honest we all thought sexson would strikeout.
No way, I told you he’d double – just check my post a few comments above
Don’t sell yourself short. You even called that it would be a laser high off the center field wall, or something like that.
damn man jus a lil harder
At least he got to 2nd, didn’t stare at it. Stayed out of the DP, and we can score 2 on a single. Manny would have been thrown out on that, at 1st.
I assume I-Rod would come to PH.
guess not.
