top of the order time to pour it on.

  2. JobaWockeeZ says:

I can’t wait for Molina so we hopefully don’t see Cash in the majors anymore.

  3. Drew says:

Who do we have in the pen tonight? Coke for an inning, Veras, D-rob for an inning maybe two, Mo. Am I forgetting anyone besides Wanger?

  4. Tack on a couple and whip out a rested Wang!

  5. JobaWockeeZ says:

Jays lost. Rayts winning and Red Sox losing. I think we could be tied for first if the Sox lose and if we win today.

  6. Mattingly's Love Child says:

So when Jorge comes back do they keep Cervelli or Cash up?

Logic tells me Cash, but I much more enjoy Cervelli.

    • Drew says:

I could go either way, I’d prefer to just DFA Cash though.

      • Mattingly's Love Child says:

Cash doesn’t impress me with the bat or behind the plate. Cervelli looks good back there, even though if it feels like he is overmatched even when he gets hits.

        • The Artist says:

I love Cervelli on this team. He has the rare quality of speed, so you could pinch run him for Posada late in games and put him in for defensive purposes. Usually, that would require burning 2 bench players, but he does it all himself.

That means having another bat on the bench to match up with in late/extra innings. Could win us a game or two over the course of the season.

    • The Artist says:

I think they’ll keep 3 catchers for a little while, just until they make sure Posada’s healthy. After that, I hope its Cash that gets sent down.

      • Accent Shallow says:

I would rather they didn’t bother with three catchers, since Cervelli can just be recalled in the event of an injury, and Cash is fungible.

        • The Artist says:

But if you have 2 Catchers and you DH Posada one night, you could get caught with your pants down. If the other Catcher gets hurt, you’d have to move Posada to Catcher and then bat the pitcher in his place. You can’t do that in the AL and expect to win games.

          • Drew says:

But you can say that about any team that occasionally DH’s their catcher.

            • The Artist says:

Yes, so you should carry a 3rd Catcher of some sort. It would be nice if he was a multiple position bench player, but even if he’s not given Posada’s age and health of late, I think it’s OK to do.

          • Accent Shallow says:

And how often does the other catcher actually get hurt?

Doesn’t make too much sense to treat it as an inevitability, and burn a roster spot.

  7. SouthernYankeeFan says:

    the captain is on fire.

  8. Drew says:

    Friggin lefties killin us tonight

  9. pat says:

Daaamn, winfield was drafted in mlb, nba and nfl.

  10. yankees=warriors says:

    Wow, Tex is scary.
It seems like yesterday that he sported a 2.19 AVG!

  11. Drew says:

Damn, great swing on that one.

  12. That’s a fucking shot in the summer.

  13. Drew says:

    Al, jack this foo.

  14. pat says:

alright lets go robbie hows about you muscle a little bloop over the 2b bag.

  15. Mattingly's Love Child says:

I love that no one from ESPN noticed that ARod didnt run cus he thought it was going to go foul.

  16. Accent Shallow says:

I have an intense, irrational dislike for Michael Young.

Robbie’s hit lefties well, be nice to do so here. Or take a walk!

  17. Accent Shallow says:

Probably shoulda let that one go by.

  18. Accent Shallow says:

Gotta be impressed with this kid pounding the zone; he’s thrown 79 pitches, 50 for strikes. (Ok, that’s only 63%, but he’s been around the plate)

    • pat says:

Still good for a young kid, 2nd career start against the Yankees. Also good considering he gave up a 1st inning jack to tex.

  19. Accent Shallow says:

So Texas, howzabout you trade Holland to the Pirates so the Yankees don’t have to worry about him when he gets good? Or just make him a LOOGY.

  20. Mattingly's Love Child says:

Only Burnett could be pitching a 2-hit shutout and me feel like he’s pitching like crap.

  21. Drew says:

Kenny knows all about Elvis’s mother.

    • Some call me...tim says:

WTF did Cash do past the mound?

So, we ready to keep Godzilla yet?

      DFA Matsui!!!

  22. yankees=warriors says:

    Damn…

  23. Dave says:

    That tightened the ol’ sphincter

  24. yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

I pray to god burnett is ok.

  25. Ian Kinsler has the ears of a hobbit.

  26. But…he sucks….

  27. pat says:

We need to talk more shit aboit kevin cash

  28. JobaWockeeZ says:

    LOL Where’s the Cash haters?

    • Mattingly's Love Child says:

Right here. That was a nice throw, with a gift call. He’s a great 4th catcher, don’t get me wrong. It’s just painful most days watching a 4th catcher play.

      • Accent Shallow says:

I wonder how many teams in the Yankees’ situation (first and second string C hurt) would have someone as the fourth string who doesn’t look like crap? Am legitimately curious, how many out of 29? I’ll have to look at that some other time.

  29. Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

Anyone else watching the 2009 Major League Lacrosse Draft?

    Me neither.

Jim Brown was the greatest lacrosee player ever!

    /Old Ranger’d

    • Accent Shallow says:

They changed the rules because he was so good. At least so the story goes . . .

  30. Jamal G. says:

Joe, you have any more words of wisdom about Kevin Cash? ;)

  31. Drew says:

Kevin Cash is teh best!!1! I knew he should’ve started!

  32. pc69 says:

    Nice luck!

  33. yankees=warriors says:

    Cash finally gets someone out!

  34. yankees=warriors says:

I gotta ask again, did AJ walk this many people last year?

  35. Chris says:

If Cervelli was catching it would be 10-0 with Burnett throwing a no hitter.

  36. pc69 says:

Jesus Christ, is there a fucking moratorium on positive comments about the Yankees from these damn vagina’s at ESPN?

    • Mattingly's Love Child says:

I want something terrible to happen to Rick Sutcliffe, like him get busted for being drunk on-air.

      Oh wait…

    • yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

lmao espn only has love for the sox for sum reason and wat a rocket for matsui.

  37. Drew says:

We need a quick bottom of the 6th if we want AJ to go any further than that. He’s at 93 pitches.

  38. Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

Where the hell is DOTF? The last game has been over for 5 minutes now.

  39. Dirt says:

Anybody see that look of hatred that Burnett just shot Cash? I’m on MLB.tv, so it may not have shown up on YES. I also could be insane.

    • Rich M says:

That look was priceless. I think he was waiting for cash to say something to him, and he didnt. He just walked out to the mound and walked back.

  40. SouthernYankeeFan says:

    GODZILLA!!

  41. e mills says:

    Hit-deki!!

  42. Drew says:

    a thrilla by Godzilla!!!!

  43. Accent Shallow says:

Holland’s future as a LOOGY in doubt as Matsui walks around the bases. Is he showing Holland up, or does he need another knee procedure?

  44. pat says:

    BUT MATSUI SUCKS TOO!!!!

  45. arlok789 says:

Every time I am ready to give up on Matsui he whacks one.

  46. Jake says:

OMG TEH GODZILLA IS TEH WASHED UP!!!1!1@!

  47. JobaWockeeZ says:

    Way to be Hit-Deki!

  48. I can has back to back?

  49. Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

Hideki kind of Cadillac’d it around the bases. Good for him.

  50. Jamal G. says:

This whole Swisher-not-looking-dead-at-the-plate thing is kinda cool.

  56. pc69 says:

I wish we had one more burner like Gardner… just love his speed.

  57. arlok789 says:

    bunt double = sweet

  58. JobaWockeeZ says:

    Brett Gritner!

  59. Must. Kill. Australian. Emphysema. Patient.

I am so sick of that fucking ad.

  60. Jamal G. says:

Tampa has showcased some Devil Rays-esque pitching this series in Cleveland.

  61. Dave says:

Kevin Cash becomes a true yankee here?

  62. arlok789 says:

Cash’s OBP is less than his batting average. fun.

  63. Accent Shallow says:

So if Holland were a Yankee prospect, how hard would the blogosphere be shitting their pants?

“OMG, he can’t get RHH out! To the pen!”
“Gave up a jack to the ghost of Hideki Matsui! To Low A!”

  64. Some call me...tim says:

    Hot streaks…he’s doing it right…

  65. The Artist says:

Damn, Dice-K’s been hideous since coming back. And he’s having another crappy outing tonight.

    http://espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=290527109

  66. yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

    I didnt even notice that.

  67. The Artist says:

    CASH IS MONEY!!!!!

  68. Drew says:

    Start teh Cash tomorrow!!!1!!!1

  69. arlok789 says:

    color me impressed

  70. Kevin Cash…win?

  71. pc69 says:

Burnet at 93 pitches. would love a 7 pitch inning and for him to come out for the 8th.

  72. e mills says:

anyone else see Wang coming in their future?

  73. Jamal G. says:

This night by Kevin Cash was just perfect.

  74. yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

Wow Cash is actually hittin in this series.

  75. handtius says:

    Cash? money?

  76. pat says:

    happy 9.00 ERA rookiebeeyotch

  77. Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

“Derrick Holland(daise) Sauce” hahahahaha. I don’t know where Berman comes up with those gems.

  78. Mattingly's Love Child says:

Who wants on the Cash bangwagon?!

  79. carl says:

Cash is the man!!!! All you Cash haters, he says hi!

  80. Justin says:

This season is so much fun. I love having a legit pitching staff and great offense with a mix of everything: gap hitters, power hitters, speed, OBP and GRIT!

  81. yankees=warriors says:

2 more runs and it just might be safe to get Wang in once AJ’s done!

  82. Dave says:

So what lead is “wang proof”? 8?

    • Accent Shallow says:

Considering the man’s ERA is 25.00, I’d trust him to pitch the ninth, assuming the Yankees are up at least 8.

      Not joking.

  83. Why do they play the NFL on Fox music? I don’t get that….

  84. yankees=warriors says:

    Not Damon’s day~

  85. Mike Axisa says:

    With the barehand.

  86. Justin R says:

Nice play by Davis. I way reached for him in my fantasy draft after all the hype, so I have a soft spot for the big lug.

Let’s see Tex drill a double in the gap.

  87. Greg G. says:

Shoulda dropped it and had a triple play.

  88. Big time analysis fail there, John.

  89. Drew says:

Texy no like down and in offspeed pitches,

  90. Jamal G. says:

First-pitch swinging against DiceK should be a felony/

  91. Drew says:

    4 WP for Dice-BB today.

  92. Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

Has anyone ever seen Miller High Life in a VIP section of a club?

  93. Drew says:

Madrigal’s gameday photo is funny looking. He looks like a 350lb Bobby Abreu.

  94. Dave says:

So, Andrus definitely tippin here right?

  95. pat says:

    That bat sounded hollow.

  96. Dave says:

Hah how bad is Toronto? 9 straight losses now. I love how ESPN was drooling all over them

  97. handtius says:

tying for 1st today would be nice.

  98. Jamie says:

Recent exchange between my brother and I after Hughes’ start the other day:

Me: You see Hughes? He was awesome the other night. Great to see him challenging hitters the entire game. What do you think they do with Wang now to fix him?

Bro: Ya he was. All they need to do to fix Wang is deprive him of food and waterboard torture him…that is the only way “they” become motivated.

Is this worse than Joba going to the bullpen? Discuss.

–10 bucks I get banned for this.

  99. Drew says:

    I hate Kevin Youkilis’s face.

  100. yankees=warriors says:

    Nice catch!

  101. yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

    wow

  102. pat says:

Holy Fucksticks we broke our damon again.

  103. Accent Shallow says:

    Oh crap.

  104. The Artist says:

    Damon, please dont hurt yourself.

  105. Drew says:

Fuck.. I see an offday coming for him tomorrow.

  106. Mike Axisa says:

    What a fucking catch.

  107. Greg G. says:

Apparently, the walls in Texas eat our outfielders for breakfast.

  108. Ed says:

He spilled that lady’s drink. Awesome.

  109. Christ alfuckingmighty, Johnny.

  110. The Artist says:

    Andruw’s picked up his game.

  111. Dave says:

So, looks like we might get a peak at what kind of outfielder Ramiro pena tonight

  112. So all you get for naming a team is season tickets and a basketball? That doesn’t seem like enough, IMO.

  113. Accent Shallow says:

Who thought Andruw Jones would be remotely useful to anyone this year?

  114. pat says:

yeah it’s pretty sweet when they swing and miss and their helmet almost falls off.

  115. Mike Axisa says:

Heh, Fernando Martinez was booed for not running out a ground ball.

  116. Drew says:

So does AJ go 120 tonight? he’s at 104 right now.

    • yankees=warriors says:

Ugh, not if he’s going to keep on walking people…
      That didn’t get him!

  117. Nice play, ball girl.

  118. VO says:

YES says 107 pitches gameday says 109.

  119. The Artist says:

    Fucking Jason Bay.

  120. Mattingly's Love Child says:

    F’in A!

  121. pat says:

No fucking attempt to move, eff that.

  122. Accent Shallow says:

    Still hate David Murphy.

  123. Finish the outing nicely here, A.J. Let’s go!

  124. The Artist says:

Hey Mike A, if Melky misses any serious time, you see them calling up A-Jax? If not, who else we have in AAA?

    • Drew says:

I’m no Mike A, but I’d say J-Rod, Linden or Shelley way before Ajax.

    • V says:

      1) No.
      2) No.
      3) No.
      4) No.
      5) No.

      6) Linden or J-Rod would be fine, after a Berroa DFA.

    • Mike Axisa says:

I don’t think so. I honestly don’t know who they should call up, all four AAA outfielders are worthy, really. Linden makes the most sense since he’s a switch hitter and can play all three OF spots. Only problem is that he’s out of options, so once Melky’s ready they can’t just send him back down.

  125. pat says:

    That was a filty. pitch

  126. handtius says:

    Bernett’s earning his $ tonight.

    • handtius says:

      actually, he’s earning his $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

  127. yankees=warriors says:

All in all, nice rebound for AJ.

  128. Tom Zig says:

Apparently Matsuzaka is up to his old tricks again.

  129. A.D. says:

    Wang for the save!

  130. MattG says:

I am really upset that Wang is apparently not going to be trusted with a six run lead.

  131. Doctor J says:

Did AJ Burnett play Chuck Cunningham, the older brother of Richie on Happy Days who mysteriously disappeared??

  132. Drew says:

Who has Jose Veras in the 7th inning?

  133. V says:

Think Cano’s happy that Holland’s out?

  134. A.D. says:

Robbie Cano says thanks for taking the lefty out

  135. yankees=warriors says:

    This pitcher…looks like a toad!

  136. Tom Zig says:

    Madrigal looks like Chris Britton

  137. A.D. says:

    BOOM

  138. V says:

    BOOM!

    GODZILLA REBORN!

  139. yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

goneeeeeeeeeee second jack of the night.

  140. JobaWockeeZ says:

    MATSUI! Bring in Wang.

  141. The Artist says:

    Damn!

    GODZILLA IS BACK!!!!

  142. Mike Axisa says:

    Check out this Matsui guy.

  143. handtius says:

    SUI sucks HORRIBLY!!!!!

  144. Drew says:

    A Thrilla! By Godzilla!

  145. Tom Zig says:

Of course the day i drop matsui from my fantasy team, he hits 2 HRs

  146. Jake says:

    somebody’s heating up

  147. Ed says:

Matsui runs the bases like Mantle circa 1968.

  148. Jamal G. says:

    Godzilla, bitches.

  149. pat says:

    when godzilla walked he crustaceans.

  150. pc69 says:

Matsui to pc69 “Suck on that you negative fuck”.

guess he has made me the fool

  151. Doctor J says:

Will someone buy poor Hideki a Rascal so he can scooter around the bases?? He looks pathetic!

  152. Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

Has Gardner ever broken a bat?

  153. Jake K says:

Yankee Stadium is such a bandbox. Three more HRs tonight! Oh wait…

  154. yankees=warriors says:

    That’s good news.

  155. handtius says:

I like it. Asians helping Asians. Matsui said “there ya go Wang, come on down”
