Bad news for an ex-Yankees farmhand: OF Ramon Flores suffered a compound fracture in his ankle and is done for the year, reports Greg Johns. He missed a big chunk of time with ankle problems last year, but not a fracture. Flores had been raking in Triple-A (216 wRC+ in 14 games) since being traded for Dustin Ackley and was in line for a September call-up. Sucks. That’s an opportunity (and a month of big league pay) lost. Get well soon, Ramon.

Also, Brian Cashman told Billy Witz the Yankees recently held RHP Andrew Bailey back from an appearance at Triple-A Scranton in case they needed to call him up. That didn’t happen, but I bet Bailey comes up when rosters expand in September. The team has an open 40-man roster spot after designating Chris Capuano for assignment earlier today. Capuano, by the way, told George King he’ll rejoin the Triple-A rotation if he clears waivers.

Triple-A Scranton (3-2 loss to Rochester)

  • CF Ben Gamel: 1-3, 1 2B, 1 BB, 1 K — 43 extra-base hits on the year, which is a career-high … he had 40 back in 2013
  • 2B Rob Refsnyder & C Gary Sanchez: both 0-4, 1 K
  • 3B Jose Pirela: 1-4
  • RF Aaron Judge: 1-4, 1 R, 3 K
  • LF Slade Heathcott: 2-4, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 RBI — also robbed a homer, which you can see in the video above … came into the game in a 2-for-33 (.061) slump
  • 1B Austin Romine: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 K — guess he’s going to see most of his time at first base the rest of the season
  • RHP Kyle Davies: 6.1 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 4 K, 1 WP, 6/5 GB/FB — 57 of 86 pitches were strikes (66%)
  • RHP Branden Pinder: 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, 1 Balk, 1/1 GB/FB — 14 of 21 pitches were strikes (67%) … 35/10 K/BB in 33.1 innings at Triple-A this year

Double-A Trenton (4-2 loss to Reading)

  • CF Jake Cave & LF Mark Payton: both 0-3, 1 BB, 1 K — Payton scored a run and got caught stealing … Cave stole a base
  • SS Tyler Wade: 0-4, 1 R, 1 K — Double-A has not been kind to Wade, he’s 3-for-36 (.083) in nine games since the promotion
  • RF Tyler Austin: 1-3, 1 2B, 1 BB, 1 CS
  • 2B Tony Renda: 1-4, 1 R, 1 R, 1 RBI — first homer since the trade for the very low power middle infielder
  • RHP Cale Coshow: 6 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 9/5 GB/FB — 54 of 90 pitches were strikes (60%)
  • RHP Mark Montgomery: 1 IP, zeroes, 1 K0/2 GB/FB — nine pitches, six strikes

High-A Tampa was rained out. The game was canceled, not postponed, so it will not be made up.

Low-A Charleston (8-5 loss to Greenville)

  • SS Angel Aguilar: 2-3, 2 R, 1 2B, 2 BB, 1 K — 7-for-20 (.350) in his last five games
  • RF Austin Aune: 0-4, 1 K
  • RHP Jordan Foley: 5 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 10 K, 4/1 GB/FB — 63 of 93 pitches were strikes (68%) … 82/37 K/BB in 79.1 innings

Short Season Staten Island (7-2 win over Vermont)

  • CF Jeff Hendrix: 0-4, 1 BB, 1 K
  • SS Kyle Holder: 1-4, 1 SB — left the game after running the bases in the seventh inning
  • 2B-SS Thairo Estrada: 1-4, 1 RBI
  • RF Trey Amburgey: 2-3, 2 R, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 SB, 1 HBP — just promoted after hitting .336/.407/.433 (154 wRC+) in rookie ball
  • 3B Drew Bridges: 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 2 K
  • RHP Domingo Acevedo: 5.1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 7 K, 3/4 GB/FB — 57 of 87 pitches were strikes (66%), plus he picked a runner off first … 32/10 K/BB in 31.2 innings for the 6-foot-7 righty

Rookie level Pulaski (8-1 win over Greenville)

  • CF Carlos Vidal: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB
  • SS Hyo-Jun Park: 3-5, 2 R, 1 2B, 1 3B — 7-for-19 (.368) during his little five-game hitting streak
  • 2B Gosuke Katoh: 0-2, 1 R, 2 BB — 16.0 BB% and 28.5 K% this year … looks like he’s going to fall short of having half his plate appearances end in a walk or strikeout
  • RHP David Palladino: 7 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 9 K, 6/5 GB/FB — 25/5 K/BB in 25 innings here … 60/39 K/BB in 73.2 innings at all levels this year

Rookie level GCL Yanks1 (7-6 win over GCL Yanks2)

  • SS Yancarlos Baez: 2-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 K, 1 SB, 1 E (pickoff, fielding) — 14-for-36 (.389) during his nine-game hitting streak
  • 2B Yonauris Rodriguez: 0-1, 1 R, 3 BB, 1 K, 1 SB, 1 CS, 1 E (fielding)
  • 3B Dermis Garcia: 1-3, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 E (fielding) — he’s played ten pro games and they’ve been spread out over three weeks because of postponements and stuff
  • LF Isiah Gilliam: 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 K — first pro homer for this year’s 20th rounder, who received a way over slot $550,000 bonus
  • CF Terrance Robertson: 0-5, 3 K — 28 strikeouts and two walks for this year’s 12th rounder
  • 3B Donny Sands: 2-4, 2 R, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 2 SB — “Donny Sands” is a really great baseball name
  • RF Leonardo Molina: 1-4, 1 3B, 1 RBI
  • RHP Dallas Martinez: 3.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 1 WP, 2 HB, 3/6 GB/FB — gotta be awkward when you plunk a pair of “teammates,” right?
  • RHP Luis Rosario: 5 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, 7/2 GB/FB
