DotF: Warren continues rehab assignment in Trenton’s win

Game 52: End of the Homestand
Yanks 5, Astros 3: Severino dominates for another series win

Remember when I mentioned RHP Garrett Whitlock was placed on the High-A Tampa disabled list yesterday? I just remembered he was hit by a comebacker in his last start, reportedly in the shin. The DL stint is probably related to that. Chances are they waited a few days to see whether it felt any better, and when it didn’t, they put him on the DL. It was probably (hopefully) something like that.

Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (3-1 win over Louisville)

  • SS Tyler Wade: 1-5, 1 2K
  • 3B Ronald Torreyes: 1-4 — 3-for-9 in two games since being sent down
  • LF Clint Frazier: 0-3, 1 BB, 1 K
  • DH Mike Ford: 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI — back-to-back games with a homer and six homers in his last 16 games
  • C Kyle Higashioka: 0-4, 1 K
  • RF Billy McKinney: 3-4, 2 R, 1 3B, 1 HR, 1 RBI — back-to-back games with a dinger
  • RHP David Hale: 6.1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 9/4 GB/FB — 48 of 79 pitches were strikes (61%), plus he picked a runner off first … pitching today means he lines up perfectly to make the spot start during Monday’s doubleheader in Detroit

Double-A Trenton Thunder (3-1 loss to Reading)

  • RF Jeff Hendrix: 0-4, 2 K
  • CF Trey Amburgey: 0-4, 1 K
  • SS Abi Avelino: 0-3, 1 BB, 1 K
  • RHP Adam Warren: 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, 5/1 GB/FB — 27 of 41 pitches were strikes (66%) … much better outing than last time … Warren told Kyle Franko he’s going to rejoin the Yankees in Baltimore this weekend, so there’s that … after throwing three innings tonight, I imagine it’ll be at least two days before Warren is activated … no sense in activating him before he’s available
  • RHP Brian Keller: 6 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 8 K, 2 HR, 5/1 GB/FB — 66 of 91 pitches were strikes (73%)

High-A Tampa Tarpons (3-2 loss to Lakeland)

  • SS Diego Castillo: 1-4, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 E (fielding)
  • RF Alex Palma: 0-4, 1 K
  • DH Isiah Gilliam: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 K — 7-for-23 (.304) during his little six-game hitting streak
  • LF Dom Thompson Williams: 1-3, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K — that’s nine homers in his last 13 games
  • RHP Will Carter: 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 1 WP, 8/3 GB/FB — 56 of 97 pitches were strikes (58%)

Low-A Charleston RiverDogs (2-1 loss to Columbia)

  • 2B Wilkerman Garcia: 0-4, 1 BB, 1 K
  • SS Oswaldo Cabrera: 1-4, 1 K
  • 1B Dermis Garcia: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI — four doubles, one homer, and three singles so far this year
  • RF Steven Sensley: 0-3, 1 BB, 1 K
  • LF Pablo Olivares: 2-4, 1 K — up to.327/.400/.422 with an 8.5 BB% and a 17.0 K% in 45 games for the 20-year-old
  • CF Leonardo Molina: 0-4, 1 K
  • LHP JP Sears: 5.1 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 5/4 GB/FB — 61 of 85 pitches were strikes (72%)
