We’ve got a free extra to tonight’s game. Seats are in the bleachers. First person who wants the ticket to leave a comment in this thread with a valid e-mail address in the e-mail field (where it will stay private) gets it. Please be in New York and able to go the game tonight. Ready, set, go.
Open Thread: Evaluating RAB
So things are good in Yankee-land tonight. While the Yanks have the evening off, an afternoon win brought the Bombers their seventh victory in a row. With a plethora of open threads lately, we figured now would be a good time for some site evaluations. Thanks to Mike’s tireless draft coverage, we’ve had a huge month traffc-wise, and today, Joe debuted first RAB podcast.
So I want to take this opportunity to ask you, our readers, to evaluate the site with a critical eye. If you think we’re doing a great job and shouldn’t change a thing, thank you, but we’re not fishing for congratulations. We’d rather reserve this thread for comments about what we aren’t doing or aren’t doing well. What would you do to improve the site? What would you like to see added to our coverage? Leave your ideas in the comments, and we’ll sift through ’em over the next few weeks. The feedback would be a massive contribution to the site.
$51,294
That number, according to dnScoop, is how much RAB is worth. The Juiced Sports Blog claims that we’re the 84th most valuable blog on the blogosphere, and that’s pretty freakin’ cool. If anyone’s interested in buying the site, we’re open to negotiations.

And we’re back
Hardware problems with our host knocked us out for the better part of the last nine hours, and we’ve temporarily lost two days’ worth of posts. But we’re back, and hopefully that’s the end of our weekend problems. The Yanks’ offense showed up tonight, and Melky’s and Cano’s batting averages are now seperated by just .033. Getting closer…
Discuss the game here. Tell us how much you missed us. I’d write more but this was an exhausting day dealing with our site problems.
The Big Three K’s Craniosynostosis Update No. 1
At the outset of the season we announced our plan to raise money for The Jorge Posada Foundation with The Big Three K’s Craniosynostosis Pledge Drive, where readers pledge a certain amount of money for each strikeout recorded by Phil Hughes, Joba Chamberlain and Ian Kennedy. The response we received was better than I expected: 24 pledges totaling $4.94 per strikeout.
Even though The Big Three haven’t performed as well as we hoped, they’ve still helped us raise $266.49. We’re on pace to pull in over $980 over the course of the season, and obviously we all hope Phil, Joba & IPK right their respective ships and make that number even bigger.
If you haven’t already pledged, please consider doing so. We’re very flexible about this and can start your pledge today, retroactive to the start of the season, any time really. You set the terms and everyone wins. Whether you think the Yanks should traded for Santana or not, we can all agree that this is for a good cause. Shoot me a line at mike (at) riveraveblues (dot) com, stick Pledge Drive in the subject line, and we’ll get you all set up.
Thursday, May 22 – 2 Tickets
I find myself with two extra tickets to this Thursday’s game between the Yankees and the Orioles. The seats are excellent — Tier Reserve Section 4, Row N — and all I want is to cover what I paid for them. So this pair can be yours for $32 total. E-mail me at the address at right, and it’s first come, first serve.
River Ave. Blues and River Avenue Blues
Site news time: We’ve had something of an ambiguous naming situation going on here since Day 1. The site is called River Ave. Blues and our website’s always been RiverAveBlues.com. To ease the confusion of the Ave./Avenue differences, we’ve acquired the RiverAvenueBlues.com domain name. So you can now reach the site by typing in either address in your web browser. Exciting times.
