Mike Plugh, buy me a lotto ticket

By Mike Axisa

Mike’s projected line for Matsuzaka today:

8 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 11 K, 128 pitches

Dice-K’s actual line:

7 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 10 K, 108 pitches

Let’s see if he comes out for the 8th…

Update: Dice-K’s out of the game, so that’s his final line.

There’s still hope for Mike. Dice just needs a 20 pitch inning with one walk, one k, and no hits or runs.

Uhoh, Dice out, Romero (the Joker) in for the 8th. So close for Plugh.

Just missed. I think I also noted in my prediction that they might not let him go 128 pitches, so you’d have to adjust down to the equivalent 7 inning totals. In retrospect there’s no way they’d let him go more than 110-115 in his season debut.

Not bad, though, huh? I guess I know this player.

According to the recap, his fastball was clocked at 95. I hope Igawa will be just as effective, although not with the same speed of course.
