Good news for the Yanks
ByIt turns out that there’s no underlying injury in Schilling’s shoulder. That means he really does just suck this bad!
(9.1 IP, 19 H, 12 R, 11 ER, 3 BB, 5 K in his last 2 starts)
Update by Joe: Schilling has been placed on the 15-day DL. He thinks he has a “touch of tendinitis.”
Anyway, another starter is not needed until Tuesday which, as Nick Cafardo notes, would be Jon Lester’s turn to pitch.

Looking forward to Schilling being a dead weight for the Sox the rest of the way— ineffective starts, burning out the pen, sulking in the clubhouse are all in their future
Only Schilling and the Sawx would be surprised that an out-of-shape 40 year old can only throw 88-89 mph.
Baseball America has a new Prospect Pulse on the Yanks’ pitching.
The picture they have of JOBA at the top of the article pitching for trenton- it looks like he’s in much better shape than some of the pictures I’ve seen from his Cornhusker days…
I don’t subscribe to BA… is there anyway someone who does could post a summery about what they think of the Yanks minor league Arms?
isnt the fact that schilling is healthy a bad thing (in a mean sadistic kind of way)? if he’s hurt then he goes on the dl where he has zero chance of being effective. since he’s healthy, those last 2 starts may have just been flukes.
The way I figure it, dan, Curt Schilling now is the same or worse than Jon Lester. So if the Sox keep Schilling around at the expense of Lester, I’m all for it.
Yeah, that was my take too.
