Tigers looking to acquire Farnsworth

Why they would want to do this I don’t know. It comes from our pal George King, though, so take it as you will.

I want to dish Farns as much as the next guy, but I wouldn’t advocate doing it to Detroit unless we get some serious bounty. And why would Detroit give up anything significant for an overpaid, underperforming reliever?

This is the move that has the chance to bite you in the ass as early as this year. Unless we’re talking Ian Kennedy and Kyle Farnsworth for Andrew Miller (and Dave Dombrowski isn’t that dumb), stay away from this one.

If by “serious bounty” you mean an 8 by 10 autographed photo of Jim Leyland signed “Fondly, Jim Leyland” then I heartily agree (it would look GREAT in Cash’s office – “see Mom, I really AM a General Manager!”).

I’d even let the Tigers trade Humberto Sanchez back to us in the deal -so what if we already have him ;-)

Seriously, I think there will be another suitor for the Farns over the next few days and Cash will be able to move him elsewhere (I think Cash is doing a good job, I just like poking some fun at him).

As much as we dump on Farnsworth, he’s worth something. He’s a tall righty with the ability to throw 99 or 100 with a good slider. He’s also a headcase, but teams think they can take on a project like him and succeed. During his last, brief stint in Detroit, Farsnworth was quite successful. Giving him away, brxbmrs, shouldn’t really be on the table.

Why not? Picture this in your mind.

Game seven of the ALCS. Yankees versus Tigers. The Tigers have a one run lead in the 8th inning. And in from the Tigers bullpen trots Krazy Kyle Farnsworthless…..

Its pure genius. Cashman is trying to sabotage one of the best teams in baseball.

I dunno I want at least one B prospect in return for Farnsworth. Look at what SD got for Linebrink, Farnsworth is at least as valuable as Linebrink.

I’d be ok with trading Farnsy for some hitting prospects. If it makes the Tigers better, we’ll deal with it in the postseason if we get there. But if it does, and they use their better team to beat the Indians, that makes it easier for us to reach the postseason.

Cash won’t give Farns away, but can you honestly say that should the Yanks get to October, you want Farns in that pen? Especially with Torre pushing the buttons?

We saw Kyle’s act before in 2001 with Witasek and Wohlers – I think letting him go is addition by subtraction.

Its not like we haven’t seen Farns implode in the playoffs before either…

bye bye Farnsy- I’d love for him to go to Siberia(TAMPA)
