You’ve probably heard it by now, but Alex Rodriguez has been placed on the 15-day disabled list. No word on the corresponding move. We’ll update you tomorrow.

Update: Just checked. Betemit went on the DL April 14. So he can come off the DL.

Ben K. says:

Who the hell is left at AAA for the Yanks to bring up for the bench anyway? Brett Gardner? Juan Miranda? Eric Duncan? Yikes.

Free Chris Britton!

Mike A. says:

Great. Just great.

Time for some Juan Miranda action.

A.D. says:

Ducan can play both corners….BRING UP AJAX! In all seriousness probably Duncan or Ransom.

yankeemonkey says:

Time for Betemit’s conjunctivitis to magically heal itself.

Ben K. says:

Oh yeah. Him. I forgot about him. Are his 15 days up?

RustyJohn says:

He was placed on the DL on the 14th so he should be eligible tomorrow…funny timing.

RustyJohn says:

I just hope that, along with his eye, his ability to swing the bat got better.

BigBlueAL says:

after watching Ensberg hit this season, im still tryin to figure out how the hell he hit 36 hr’s in a season. i know Minute Maid is great for RH power hitters, but shit. actually do think its time for Betemit to hopefully comeback and have a platoon at 3b til Arod comes back.

RollignWave says:

he send a couple today to a spot that woulda been a HR in that park troday.

stuart says:

how about give Duncan a chance??don’t laugh, he has plate discipline doesn’t he?

Is he a terrible 3b, fielder?

RollignWave says:

considering that he hasn’t played there in 2+ years now? probably

Mike A. says:

He’s pretty bad defensively. I’m guessing they’ll just suck it up and live with Ensberg and Betemit for the time being. Betemit vs tough RHP, Ensberg vs everyone else.

My money is on Betemit b/c of his return from the DL, but Cody Ransom is also a possibility. This really blows for us right now, we have weak back end starting, and an underachieving lineup sans Posada and A-Rod for at least 2 weeks…….

Ben K. says:

Yah. Cano’s really gotta step it up now.

Brian says:

Call me crazy and conspiracy-minded, but I think this is trumped up. I don’t think A-Rod is hurt. I think something is going on with his wife and he needs to be there. Prior to the first injury there was word that Alex was going to get time with his family for the birth of his daughter. Well, he got it. Now Betemit is coming back from the DL…A-Rod rounded the bases fine Monday night before exiting the game with a smile on his face. My guess is Joba got time off and A-Rod wants some, too. Or his wife is demanding it, in which case the Yanks are trying to make it look good. It’s early enough in the season that it works.

Brian says:

One last thing: A-Rod’s immediate commentary that he would definitely miss the next game and maybe a couple more (or something to that effect). Come on. Nobody says that when they are really hurt. It’s a hoax, but I’m not at all upset.

mustang says:

This is the best thing.
He can heal and not talk his way back into the line-up.
It’s marathon not a sprint.

nick blasioli says:

cant wait for betemit to come off of the disabled list…..NOT

A.D. says:

Betemit is going to rehab in AAA, I believe Moller clears waivers today, and then could replace A-Rod without waiting 10 days, and they can send Stewart back down.

Matt G. says:

Brett Gardner seems like an obvious choice, if for nothing other than his defense in close games. Matsui looked out of his element in LF last night, and had he caught that ball that went by his glove for a double, Hughes probably would have lasted longer. Gardner makes that catch. Let Matsui DH.
