Newman says:

Haha, I was totally refreshing the page thinking my internet was down

dan says:

Who do you think you are, Ramon Castro?

A.D. says:

Why is Abreu trying to stretch that

E-ROC says:

Well, I live in Mountain Home, ID so I’ll be here.

Newman says:

The Giambino is becoming master at fisting balls through the shift

A.D. says:

Giambi the other way????

E-ROC says:

Wow, the Yanks are scoring first.

E-ROC says:

Is Betemit batting left or right?

E-ROC says:

bostonsucks@life says:

Love watching giambi go the opo

Joey says:

I’ll be in and out all night watching the game/RAB and studying for financial accounting test tomorrow… sounds fun, I know

E-ROC says:

What is Shelley Duncan good for if he’s not in the lineup against a left hander?

Brandon says:

nothing right now, I mean you just heard Ken say Betemit is hitting .357 vs LHP

Wally Pipp says:

I can’t believe I bought the “Duncan Dun It” T-Shirt outside the stadium.

Joey says:

first pitch HBP– that takes talent

Jamal G. says:

Who would’ve thought that coming into the games on June 10th that Johnny Damon would have a better OBP, SLG, OPS (duh), as many HRs and just five less RBIs than Miguel Cabrera? Amazing.

E-ROC says:

The first two pitches to Jack Cust weren’t strikes?

Jamal G. says:

Clean inning after the odd start but you can’t like the three air-outs.

Newman says:

Couldn’t agree more, Wang didn’t look great despite getting three quick outs

Joey says:

those last 2 flyballs- were they sinkers Wang was throwing? If so thats not good, lots of air under those

Joey says:

I think Stuart Scott’s googly eye is staring at me… or maybe the guys sitting next to him. I can never tell

Joe says:

Why you fucking with a guy whose clearly got a medical issue, physical deformity, etc.?

Joey says:

because he works for ESPN… and I’m obviously kidding, calm down

E-ROC says:

What? Cabrera is taking pitches? I wonder if somebody gave him the “riot act” after the last game.

pete says:

i think you may be overreacting about the flyballs – ppl know to swing under the sinker, and sometimes they’re successful. what will be much more telling will be whether or not he has control issues like last time and/or is leaving too many pitches up
wow great inning offense. always good to give your opposing pitcher a nice confidence boost like that

BigBlueAL says:

I actually think sometimes Wang, and all of us, get too obsessed with his sinker. He can throw in the mid-90’s, when his sinker isnt working stop forcefeeding that damn pitch and throw 4 seamers and sliders, along with splits vs LH.

Joey says:

probably. I know he has some other good stuff, but how do they rate in scouting terms? Average, plus, etc…

A.D. says:

Nice work around the 2B

pete says:

wow travis buck belongs on a beach somewhere
playing acoustic guitar for like 6 girls
douchebag

Newman says:

very nice bounceback after the leadoff double

Tripp says:

Wang is so boring when he’s not on. It’s just sinker after sinker.

Alan says:

You know, its so much more peaceful watching the game without Michael Kay blabbering about Robinson Cano’s poor hitting or Papa John’s Pizza.

A.D. says:

I gotta say the pizza in the press box, nice advertising touch

Wally Pipp says:

I love playing the A’s…gives me a chance to reminisce about the multiple times in which I find two Bob Geren baseball cards in the same pack.

P.S.
Betterman to play 2nd, give Robbie a wakeup call?

Alan says:

Whos Betterman? Heh.

Jamal G. says:

I think Derek Jeter just sent a message to Ed Montague.

A.D. says:

I mean Jeter obvi swung there, but why not let the 1B umpire make the call?

Joey says:

I’m not sure if it’s safe for umpires to work Yankees games anymore, they always seem to get injured

A.D. says:

Karma for some of those calls of late…

Joey says:

lol, I’d love to believe, just wish it was on some of the shitty umps not ones that haven’t done anything (yet anyway)

Wally Pipp says:

I didn’t know Bobby Savoy from the New York Knights was an A’s fan…

- bad baseball movie joke.

BigBlueAL says:

Any pre-game news words by Girardi talkin about if Mo is available tonight????

Alan says:

Hopefully we won’t need him tonight, he could use a night of rest.

bostonsucks@life says:

I keep zoning out cause the kat williams comedy special is on hbo comedy and that is some funny shit…

Jamal G. says:

HBO on Demand FTW!

bostonsucks@life says:

And for the nba finals enough of the boston songs.

Wally Pipp says:

Dive, lay out…one time. Betterman to 2nd, Gardener to CF, give it a shot.

Joey says:

Must see movies coming out this summer:
Dark Knight
Hulk (only because Ed Norton)

Any others I need to add to my list?

dan says:

The Happening looks pretty damn cool

Alan says:

Ugh, the only thing he ever did that was decent was the Sixth Sense. Now everyone is onto him and his twist endings.

Joey says:

I’m guessing thats the M Night one?

E-ROC says:
Alan says:

Hahaha. I’m going to see this one out of pure curiosity.

Wally Pipp says:

the lame NBA commercials only make me loathe both Will Smith post-Jim West and the NBA even more…if possible.

Joey says:

What about that “Wanted” movie. I think Angelina Jolie is in it which is enough reason right there to go, but it seems (from the commercials) to have a pretty good story line

bostonsucks@life says:

the happening, I’m just a big m night fan
And agreeing cano really shows no heart

Joey says:

on defense he looks fine, but on offense even when he grounds it right to short you’d still like him to hustle and he just jogs to the bag which is what bothers me

Wally Pipp says:

Step Brothers, featuring Cal Norton and Ricky Bobby together again.

A.D. says:

So far looking more like the Wang we know & love

Alan says:

Looks like the Titanic to me…sink sink sink.

E-ROC says:

Joey says:

did anyone just hear the A’s announcer compare Jack Cust to Babe Ruth? “They got Babe Ruth we got Babe Cust (laughter)”

Wally Pipp says:

The Babe Ruth of Immaculata HS.

A.D. says:
Joey says:

that was scored a hit:

A.D. says:

Maybe in HS ball it should be a hit, naturally comes back to bite

Newman says:

Wait to get your body AWAY from the ball Wil Bet…how is that a base hit?!

Jamal G. says:

Wilson betemit played that like he was scared of the ball.

God Damn do the Mets suck.

bostonsucks@life says:

Why do grown men paint their face ? I would never let a buddy live that down. It aint cool to paint your face if your older than 10. Man Law

Joe says:

See if your gonna get together with like 20 guys then maybe, but yeah, theres no real reason for it

Wally Pipp says:

war paint>face paint.

Jamal G. says:

BTW, when I said the Mets suck, they really, really suck.

Newman says:

I love watching the Mets lose, don’t get me wrong, but the Yanks aren’t exactly mowing everyone down themselves

A.D. says:

Doesn’t look like Willy is making it out of this season after all

Alan says:

I don’t understand how Willie Randolph and, more importantly, Omar Minaya still have jobs. The Mets have an old team (their 40 man roster is the oldest, or one of the oldest, in the majors) and they’re extremely fragile. That sound you hear, Mets fans, is your window closing. Enjoy Santana though.

pete says:

Hit list:
1. Jose Guillen
2. Mark Ellis

Wally Pipp says:

Hell of a throw by Gardener’s eventual backup.

pete says:

what the hell is that honking noise? it should be illegal it makes me want to incinerate villages in central america

Jamal G. says:

Hey! I’m from Central America. :P

Joe says:

He’s talking about the county below us, not the middle of the country

Joe says:

But you shouldn’t incinerate that either!

pete says:

Wally Pipp says:

Mo and JoPo, both Central Americans…choose a village preferably in Europe, soccer sucks, all of this Euro coverage makes me sick.

Joey says:
Joe says:

Do people really think that soceer will catch on? Is there really room for another sport?

Wally Pipp says:

No, and whoever used “Take Me Out to the Ballgame,” in that last add campaign, should be shot by firing sqaud, hung, or sent to the guilltoine.

BigBlueAL says:

Being that i live in Miami and have MANY South American friends, ive grown to like soccer a bit. Problem is, i can only watch the higher levels of soccer, like the European championships and the EPL or La Liga. But trust me, its tuff to watch an entire game if u dont understand the game. Ive learned alot about soccer and strategy and stuff, so i understand the game more and appreciate it more. But it is certainly an acquired taste thats for sure.

Wally Pipp says:

Similar to the NHL, increase the offense and maybe I’ll watch. I’d rather watch Soccer Hooligans fight after the game (match).

(Comments wont nest below this level)
BigBlueAL says:

Trust me, i felt the same way as u did. It helped that i have friends whom soccer is their religion, and ive learned to like soccer. But trust me, it aint nothing to me compared to MLB, NBA, and the NFL. Also it doesnt hurt, for videogame players, that FIFA is one of the best sports games you can play!!!!

Joe says:

That’s sort of my point, It’s by no means a bad game, but I can only follow so many teams and games

(Comments wont nest below this level)

Joey says:

One of my friends is a huge soccer fanatic and I tried watching it, its just so damn boring. Huge field, 800 players on it, gigantic net but not much scoring. Never got the attraction to it and I tried, I really did. But then again I’m a hockey/football guy playing wise, and of course my Yankees are always #1 in my heart :-)

When I was a kid I played one season on T-Ball and the freakin coach put me in the outfield and nobody could hit it past the pitching mound, so I never really got into baseball. My love of the Yanks was always there, but my dad still reminds me how I used to sit in the outfield and come back to the dugout with pocket fulls of rocks because I was so bored out there I would just sit there are pick rocks.

(Comments wont nest below this level)

Kyle D. says:

Jeter GIDP? Color me shocked.

Joey says:
Wally Pipp says:

3-1 pitch, a hit and run would have kept them out of the DP. 2-2 in last two hit and runs.

BigBlueAL says:

I think Jeter might have a bonus clause in his contract if he leads the league in DP’s.

Joey says:

he’s gonna get paid then

Joey says:

Who the hell this guy think he is, Matsuzaka? Walks 5 and is pretty much getting away with it

BigBlueAL says:

Thats the great Yankees lineup this season. Typical game so far, score a couple early, threaten but not score more, and watch the lead slowly evaporate.

BigBlueAL says:

smart move ARod forcing a balk!!

Newman says:

Keep gettin those GBs Wanger

Jersey says:

I would love love LOVE to see this Daily lineup:

Damon
Matsui
Abreu
ARod
Giambi
Posada
Jeter
Cano
Melky

Not that it would ever happen. But in a meritocracy, El Capitan should be El Hitter Numero Siete until he got his ish together.

Newman says:

Wow, are you serious? You’re right actually, take the best number 2 hitter in the game over the last decade plus and stick him in the 7 hole b/c of 2 average months. Very rational

Jersey says:

Sure I would. Dude needs to remember how to take a pitch. Dropping him down might wake him up. If dropping Jetes results in an extra run here or there, I would do in a heartbeat. Ten years of awesomeness doesn’t make him any less mediocre now.

Newman says:

Thankfully you’re not the manager

Jersey says:

Joey says:

I love the “outside the box” attempt, but dropping our Captain would not be motivation to him, it would be insulting. He is a proven veteran that will get himself out of his “slump” if you want to call it that

pete says:

i would do it simply b/c i don’t believe in (cloggin the basepaths), and if you have your best onbase guys first, you have more chance to score runs
not that its necesssary, but it might work

BigBlueAL says:

Say what u will about his offense this season, which has been pathetic, but u cant complain about Cano’s defense this year. He turns the DP exceptional for a 2nd baseman.

Jamal G. says:

LoL, Jeremy Giambi still looks like he’s on steroids.

Thinking about it now, why is Jose Canseco still on steroids?

BigBlueAL says:

Giambino with heads up baserunning!!!

Wally Pipp says:

If I get one more voicemail from an automated John Sterling I will stubhub the celebrity softball tickets…and the Giamburner takes second…come on Betterman.

Jersey says:

Giambi flashing the wheels!

Joey says:

did Giambi just tag from first? Wait, did the sky fall earlier today?

BigBlueAL says:

Am i the only one who just cant stand watching this offense anymore???

BigBlueAL says:

10 baserunners thru 6 innings, 2 stinking runs. 6 bb, 4 hits against a pitcher who hadnt pitched past the 5th inning in each of his last 2 starts.

Joey says:

If he ends up winning it has Matsuzaka written all over it… and shows how pathetic our offense has been most of the season

Wally Pipp says:

the almost helment toss…finally some sign of emotion.

Alan says:

Almost took out Tony Pena too with it.

Wally Pipp says:

Cust showing us that North Jersey HS baseball is overrated…
DeJesus (Jersey Shore) > CUST

Jamal G. says:

Lakers look like they’re about to make the series 2-1. I dislike both teams but my hatred for anything Boston causes me to root for the Lakers.

BigBlueAL says:

Wally Pipp says:

true for all sports, even MLS, LAX, WNBA, College, and the LLWS, in fact I rooted for the British at Lexington and Concord.

Joey says:

lol, awesome man, awesome

Newman says:

YES, i actually posted that in another thread to see if anyone else was intentionally rooting for the Lakers solely for pure hatred of Boston – nice to see you’re on the same page as me

Joey says:

I replied in the other, and “hell yes” I am :-D

BigBlueAL says:

Wang has thrown 60 pitches thru 6 innings. Lets score a couple of more damn runs and let Wanger pitch a complete game hopefully!!

Wally Pipp says:

Phil Jackson ruined my childhood, but Boston ruined my Seinor year of HS…Go Lakers.

Newman says:

So true, Phil was a Knick during our only title years though – so he’s gotta get some love for that

BigBlueAL says:

The man has amazing press conferences. Michael Jordan ruined my childhood, cant really blame Phil Jackson too much.

Wally Pipp says:

I hate Jordan the Bull, loved him as a Birmingham Baron.

BigBlueAL says:

wasnt Terry Francona his manager at Birmingham!!!

Wally Pipp says:

correction then, i HATE all things Jordan, except maybe that gambling habit that was the real reason he went and played baseball for a season.

Ben K. says:

If he doesn’t stop fucking sliding into first base…

Wally Pipp says:

Sliding into first IS not faster, i.e. Ripken in 96.

Newman says:

Wow Melky will never learn, where are the coaches?

BigBlueAL says:

The Yankees have coaches?????

Wally Pipp says:

BG beats out the bunt.

Jamal G. says:

You could tell Tony Pena was pissed at Melky sliding into first base…again.

Joey says:

yea, the little palm facing up and the look on his face said “stop that shit already”

A.D. says:

With a little “didn’t we just go over this yesterday”

A.D. says:

WHY does Melky slide head first

Brandon says:

Para tirando te bruto !

Chucky Smooth says:

someone needs to smack melky with a bat….why does he slide?!?!?!

A.D. says:

Ugh, how does Jeter swing through that

Ben K. says:

Derek’s really not handling the bat too well this year. It happens.

Joey says:

He’ll pick it up, you know he will. And as I type that he strikes out…

Wally Pipp says:

I don’t mind the aggresiveness, Damon should have broken his wrist.

BigBlueAL says:

I LOVE Jeter more than any other athlete ive ever rooted for, but its getting to a point where anytime he comes up, i just hope he walks or gets hit by a pitch because if he makes contact its a DP. Hell even thisn past at-bat, he didnt put the ball in play and still 2 outs were made during his at-bat!!

Jamal G. says:

LoL, that last sentence was clutch.

Jamal G. says:

LoL, you know the YES people have an agenda against the Mets. The Red Sox lose a divisional game and yet YES shows the highlights of the Mets’ loss.

Wally Pipp says:

Poor Willie, as much as I hate the Mets, Willie is still a Yankee and can never wish harm on him, but as for Pedro, screw ‘em.

A.D. says:

Well at least they didn’t show where the Mets bullpen folded like a deck of cards

Wally Pipp says:

Get Joba up to pitch the 8th…oh wait…fuck.

BigBlueAL says:

Mark Ellis is 3 for 3. Im telling you, the best remedy for a slump is to face the Yankees (ask Jose Guillen).

A.D. says:

Living dangerously with the leadoff baserunners

Joey says:

has every one for the A’s been on?

BigBlueAL says:

the 6th inning was 1-2-3 i know that much.

A.D. says:

In the telecast they said the leadoff hitter has been on every inning

BigBlueAL says:

oh thats right, i think there was a dp in the 6th.

E-ROC says:

I wonder if Jeter lost some strength this off-season as he tried to be more agile. His swing just looks weak. I don’t know.

Batty says:

I was thinking the same thing.

Chucky Smooth says:

can he pull another d.p. out of his ass?

Chucky Smooth says:

now he really needs one….

Chucky Smooth says:

haha do you beieve it…gotta love when that sinker sinks

A.D. says:

really needs the DP now

Joey says:

Edwar warming, not Krazy Kyle. Love it.

Jamal G. says:

That’s how you fucking do it!

Joey says:

Wally Pipp says:

BigBlueAL says:

I didnt know Jeter is hitting for both teams!!!! lol

Joey says:

Jamal G. says:

Ha, you’re on a roll.

BigBlueAL says:

ill be here all night…..

Chucky Smooth says:

Jamal G. says:

Lighting Round: CURE Auto Insurance or AVIS Car Rentals, who has the better commercial? The cursing blue thing-y or the Bostonian in the New York workplace?

My vote goes to CURE.

Joey says:

you have a Youtube of the AVIS one? Don’t think I’ve seen it, but the cursing blue CURE thing the other night you posted was pretty awesome

Jamal G. says:
Joey says:

lol, both great, but have to go with cursing blue ball thing, its just different, who the hell would think to do that? The Avis one on the other hand is funny, but its not THAT creative

Chucky Smooth says:

alright lets give wanger some support

A.D. says:

NOW if we can only get some insurance, especially with Mos availability in question

Chucky Smooth says:

i like the avis one…simply cause i went to school with so many annoying boston bastards

Yankees=warriors says:

Wowow!!! What a miracle!!!
Hope Girardi won’t push it and let Wang come out the next inning…

Chucky Smooth says:

gotta love bobby…contract year for him?

A.D. says:

Gaudin rocks similar facial hair as Dwight’s brother on the office

Wally Pipp says:

Chucky Smooth says:

haha alan embry you fuck…

Jamal G. says:

When was Alex Rodriguez ever an amateur free agent? I thought to be an AFA you have to be in the pool that gets signed out of the International Free Agent signing period or go un-drafted.

BigBlueAL says:

WTF. He was the overall #1 pick in the draft to the Mariners.

A.D. says:

Yeah I doubt he ever was I think they just meant the best amateur prostpect

Chucky Smooth says:

is bobby in his contract year? does anyone know?

Jamal G. says:

Yes he is. No options, no nothing after this season.

A.D. says:

Abreu Yes, Crosby No

iYankees says:

is jorge okay? he seemed to be favoring that left collarbone.

BigBlueAL says:

Thats Clutch Yankees baseball.

A.D. says:

Wang coming back out…should be interesting

And we’re seeing why sitting Cano down for Betemit may not really pan out

Wally Pipp says:

Posing it as a means to light a fire under the ass of Melky’s melancholy buddy.

Wally Pipp says:

Trade his ass….bring up Eric Duncan…j/k…but seriously..haha

BigBlueAL says:

WHY take out Wang now?????

Jamal G. says:

“I LOVE WANG”

Depending on how many girls were holding up that sign, that has to be the best sign ever.

A.D. says:

So was it because he gave up a decent fly ball? or what exactly was the point of bringing Wang out for 1 batter?

Jamal G. says:

How was Bobby Crosby doing against CMW? I can’t remember specifically if he had some good ABs against him.

Ben K. says:

That “I heart Wang” sign is pure comedic gold.

A.D. says:

Vintage Wang line

Veras…just step in the bag

BigBlueAL says:

I dont care if the Yanks still win this game, i just dont understand Girardi and his handling of the pitching staff.

A.D. says:

do we see Ohlendorf in the 9th?

Joey says:

As long as it isn’t Krazy Kyle I’ll be happy

A.D. says:

Jamal G. says:

Please throw a breaking ball 3-1 here.

Jamal G. says:

Eh, whatever. As long as the heater was off the plate.

Wally Pipp says:

A lefty out of the Pen would fit just right in this situation, this could be Otiz in a few months if stead of Jersey Jack

BigBlueAL says:

Again, after 83 pitches and getting the 1st out in the 8th, WHY take out Wang????? Especially with Mo having pitched 3 straight days and i assume he isnt/shouldnt be available.

iYankees says:

Why not? Wang had a strong outing after a string of terrible starts. I thought it was a good move to get him out after he went deep into the ballgame. Leave him feeling good about himself and his mechanics. If Girardi left him in there and if he gave up a few runs, everyone would be pissed.

Jamal G. says:

Mark Ellis is on-deck, ugh.

Newman says:

Good thing Veras pitched around him to get to Ellis

BigBlueAL says:

I cant believe Mo is warming up.

BigBlueAL says:

And you guys complain that Torre used to blow out the bullpen….

Joey says:

could this be the start of “Mo Rules”?

Joey says:

With Girardi I’m really not shocked at all

Jamal G. says:

In defense of Girardi, Mariano only threw 10, 7 and 13 pitches total in his three straight appearances.

Joey says:

I’m not worried about Mo, its Farnsworthless if he throws at all I worry about

Jamal G. says:

Looks like Jeckyl has made a comeback.

BigBlueAL says:

Brett Gardner couldnt hit a HR like that in Oakland!!!!

Nefarious jackson says:

E-ROC says:

I guess Cabrera was hearing Gardner’s footsteps as he just hit a homer.

pete says:

he has to – its uuman nature

devin says:

anyone think melky reads RAB? lol

Chucky Smooth says:

its amazing how despite his hot streak, whenever johnny strikes out, he looks TERRIBLY confused at the plate

BigBlueAL says:

At least Jeter cant hit into a dp this at-bat.

Chip says:

That’s so my line!

Chip says:

Question, why does Melky even bother batting right handed? He looks more comfortable lefty

iYankees says:

And his numbers definitely demonstrate that. Before tonight Melky’s line:

VS. LHP AS RH……….206 BA // .609 OPS
VS. RHP AS LH………..299 BA // .755 OPS

Chucky Smooth says:

good god jeter looks like a little leaguer

Chucky Smooth says:

so who thinks we will end up resigning bobby for WAY more than we should, and then regretting it for 3 years

Link says:

I don’t think he’d get 3 years. But he obviously is far from finished so I don’t think re-upping him for 1-2 years would be a disaster.

Joey says:

If 2 years is fine with Bobby I’m sure the Yanks would do it, but he’d probably want more and the Yanks probably won’t be willing to do that (hopefully)

Chip says:

Pick me!!! I really hope A-Jax puts up a huge season this year so he can start next year in right

Wally Pipp says:

As a proponent of the BG for Melky lineup switch, I am hoping Melky reads RAB and knows we expect more from him. Clutch homer Melk Man

Chucky Smooth says:

how nice is it to not have to listen to Kay!!!

Ben K. says:

I’m glad Rivera’s pitching. He hasn’t gotten enough work the last three days.

….This is why he shouldn’t have been pitching from the get-go on Sunday afternoon. No need to run him out there four days in a row.

Jamal G. says:

A total of 30 pitches in the three innings (10, 7 and 13). Is it really that much of an issue?

BigBlueAL says:

Yes when u r dealing with a 38 yo pitcher.

Chip says:

I think that gives them more reason to pitch him like they do. It’s not like he hasn’t done this sort of thing before. The guy will pitch until his arm falls off and it’s not like you’re banking on him for the next 10 years (and he’s been properly prepared for this sort of thing by pitching his entire career) so I think this usage is fine. K_Rod did something similar last week and nobody said boo

Ben K. says:

And warming up four times in four days.

Chip says:

I”m a big fan of Rivera pitching 4 or 5 games in a row. There are a few times during the season that he’s getting used so little that they have to put him in a blowout just to get work in, I’d rather have this. Besides, it means we’re either tied or ahead which makes my day!

Jamal G. says:

For all those outside pitches Daric Barton sure was quick on that inside Cutter.

Well, he still got owned.

BigBlueAL says:

I still say Wang shouldve been given the chance for a complete game given his pitch count when he was removed.

Wally Pipp says:

Anyone else think he may have had a blister?

devin says:

i just think that joe saw wang tiring and not gettin on top of his sinker that paired with him wanting to get a look at veras in the eigth inning was wat caused joe to make the move.

BigBlueAL says:

Shit, Oakland brodacast had that 2-1 pitch to Suzuki at 97 mph!!!!!!

Joey says:

with Mo I don’t think thats good, it means he’s overthrowing. His pitches lose movement if they go faster

Link says:

Yankees win..thee Yankees wiin! lol

Chucky Smooth says:
