Hughes progresses, Pavano not so much
BySteven White has been released, and Jeff Marquez takes his spot on Trenton’s roster. White’s fall from grace was rather precipitous. He’ll land on his feet though.
Six SI Yanks made the NY-Penn League All-Star Game: Addison Maruszack, Mike Lyon, Brian Baisley, David Phelps, Andy Shive and Pat Venditte. All well deserved, congrats guys.

You think they would give Jesus a shot at High A for a couple weeks?
Nah, they’ll keep him right where he is. One year at a time, no need to rush it.
austin jackson has been uninspiring as of late.
thats the exact reverse jynx we need
yup, just doing my part. now if only mike would stop dissing all the good players and inducing slumps….
You know I expected that from the rest of them, but not you
Mr. Burgundygiselle. It appears that Austin Jackson is your prototypical streaky hitter.
Not the best of signs, but not the worst of signs.
I’m actually a bit disappointed at Hughes’s outing today. I hoped last week would prove to be the start of a trend with the groundballs. It still could happen, but he had a pretty dismal ratio tonight.
One of the defining traits of pre-hammy-injury-Hughes was his great GB rate versus his terrible GB rate afterward.
outs are outs though
yea i know what you mean. he only gave up 3 hits but there were at least a couple of line drives that were hit right at the outfielders.
he worked his way out of a lead off double without giving up the run in one inning, and he looked good overall.
the stadium gun showed him come out with a 94mph fastball and then follow that with a 70mph breaking ball. hughes was good tonight, but he didn’t think so cause he looked upset as he was walking back to the dugout after he got pulled.
Montero is really mashing. He may be the best bat we have in the system.
may be?
id say most definitely is
I didn’t want to offend the A-Jax fans, but as a pure hitter Montero looks unreal.
hahaha dude I think thats a great thing to have an argument about because no matter whos right yankee fans win
Those doubles hopefully turn into homers next season. I hope he’s one of those fast risers through the system. I see the RS be aggressive with their high schoolers. We should mirror that aggressiveness. Reward these kids. Lars Anderson is already at Double-A. I say move Montero to double-A midseason if he’s replicating this season’s success at high-A. Top hitting prospects can handle the jump!!
But they want him to develop as a catcher if at all possible. Just because the Red Sox do something with one kid doesn’t mean that’s the right thing to do for everyone.
Also, I defended my PhD
That’s true too. The org. is going to have to come to a decision as to where he fits in best. Would be nice to have him as a catcher, but at this point the farm is starving for good bats, regardless of position.
If he can mash in the big leagues, I don’t care if he plays 1st or comes up as a catcher.
the best thing for montero would be for austin romine to improve his hitting enough that jesus can concentrate on being a dh or 1b
best thing for the yankees is for Jesus to stick at Catcher!
Are you Dr. whozat now?
whats the deal with pavano? he sucked tonight. i hope he’s not guaranteed a spot in the rotation when he’s done w/ his rehab starts.
That guy’s just riding the gravy train on biscuit wheels.
mmm gravy
It threw me for a loop to see Shelley Duncan listed in the box score for both the GCL Yanks and the SWB Yanks…
It’s amazing, do you think cashman would rethink that the trade with twins. Kennedy, Cabrera, Austin Jackson and Alan Horne for Johan Santana ? And another question, why didn’t we go after Torii Hunter ? We are ok with a above average fielder barely hitting above the mendoza line , but we could pay torii hunter to hit 280 with 25 homers and knock in close to 100 rbis ? One more thing , can’t Nady play first base ? So the next time Girardi wants to have have a good lineup or even maybe he wants to play justin christian against a lefty because he quote unquote hits good against lefties, play nady at first and let damon play left and giambi dh or let nady dh. this bs of sexson getting 4 abs let alone one in a game has to stop.
thanks for the new, thought provoking questions, nick.
what would rethinking a trade with the twins for santana accomplish? the one you proposed definately would not have gotten the job done
1. Grammar and punctuation marks are your friends.
2. I feel compelled to say it each and every time. One deal was Phil Hughes, Melky Cabrera, and two other prospects. The other deal was Chien-Ming Wang, Ian Kennedy, Melky Cabrera, and another prospect. That’s it. This is straight from Brian Cashman’s mouth.
Where do you guys see Kelvin De Leon and Eduardo Sosa playing next year? Short Season in the Gulf Coast League? Both continue to absolutely rake and De Leon hit his 8th HR.
Bring over Melvin Croussett. Other than Wilfi Bravo, he’s got the coolest name in the Yankees farm system.
Actual qoute from Melvin: “If you don’t know me by now, you will never ever, ever know me.”
the first time I have watched sportscenter in about a week.
What the fuck is up with the guy going over the Sox game. Hes having an orgasm from every homerun they hit. Holy shit is ESPN really that bad?

Rulon got shafted, he should be in the All-Star Game. 2 runs in 33 2/3 innings? Unreal.
DRINK LOTS OF WATER!
Hey RAB, why don’t you guys learn to write original sentences — rather than stealing lines from other blogs. The “fall from grace” line was first used by Chad Jennings. Come up with your own material.
and i’m sure that was the first time in history the phrase “fall from grace” was ever used.
http://www.google.com/search?q.....=firefox-a
Fuck off.
It’s a biblical phrase, numb-nuts:
“Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.”
Galatians 5:4
Battle K’ed
I that was a given?
I thought that was a given, I mean.
It’s a default setting on the RAB DoTF template.
What do you guys know of Mitch Delaney (21st rd). Is he someone that could develop into a productive prospect?
When was the last David Adams didn’t have a multi hit game? What’s this kid’s ceiling?
