4-2 game, I hope the Yankees get a little more run support for Andy Pettitte.

    • whozat

Four runs should really be enough. Not that they should stop scoring, but you can’t really say a pitcher’s team left him out to dry when they score him 4 runs in the 2nd inning. He gets to pitch all but one inning with the lead!

  • Frank

NoMaas has a post showing Ransom as a -24.1 UZR/150. And that’s not counting tonight. He’s just been godawful.

    • Axl

Why didn’t they ever persue McPherson again?

      • http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/00mwbIM15ofMv/340x.jpg Mike Pop

How do you know they didn’t? Maybe he preffered a starting gig for more than a month, right? Everything isn’t so cut and dry.

        • Axl

Well maybe they didn’t!! You don’t know the answer to everything…they could have very well wanted Ransom to start and had no intentions of looking elsewhere. Ever think of that???

          • http://www.new.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/profile.php?id=594331910&ref=name Jamal G.

His point is that none of us know either way, thus speculating either point is highly irrational.

            • http://www.new.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/profile.php?id=594331910&ref=name Jamal G.

Sorry, not speculating, but definitively asking “Why didn’t they” or “Why did they”.

          • http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/00mwbIM15ofMv/340x.jpg Mike Pop

Okay Axl. Plus for a month or so, they could live with Ransom even though he has been Mo awful. I would of liked to see Angel but doesn’t look like he will be brought up. Also, Dallas might not of done anything, just like his whole MLB career. Trust me, if there is someone who knows alot about Dallas doing a whole lotta nothing, it is me ;)

            • Axl

I know I was just fucking around afterwards haha. I’m well aware of the possible reasons. Ransom is just miserable right now though. What ever happened to Eric Duncan? Weren’t they trying to convert him to outfield because of Arod?? Couldn’t he had come up instead of Ransom??

        • whozat

He took a minor league deal with the Giants.

We thought about it, and figured the only reason we could come up with was that they didn’t want to cut someone from the 40 man in order to put mcpherson on the roster.

That said, Axl…we don’t know anything either way, really. All we have is rumor. So, your “comeback” is pretty dumb too. Obviously we thought of that, and concluded that not checking in on him at all was stupid. We know the Yanks aren’t stupid, so it stands to reason that they DID put in a call and decided not to go for it for one reason or another.

          • Axl

Dude I wasn’t serious with my “comeback”…I’m well aware of the possibilities.

    • http://www.new.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/profile.php?id=594331910&ref=name Jamal G.

Yeah, and wasn’t Swisher about -70? Early-season UZR numbers are worthless.

      • Frank

Small sample, of course, but no less accurate of how bad Swish has been in the field so far. He’s a better defender than that.

        • Frank

That didn’t come out right at all…

What I meant to say was I think it’s a pretty accurate depiction of how bad RANSOM has been in the field. Though he’s supposed to be a good fielder, or so I’ve heard.

          Tragic fail.

        • http://www.new.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/profile.php?id=594331910&ref=name Jamal G.

Exactly my point, these early-season numbers aren’t indicative of the player’s real defensive abilities per UZR. Both Swisher and Ransom aren’t nearly as bad as these numbers indicate, thus you should just pay them no mind for now.

    • http://www.theyankeeuniverse.com/ Artist formerly known as ‘The’ Steve

Really, could Ramiro Pena be any worse with the bat? We know he’s a better glove.

No reason to get him. I hope we don’t. He’ll want a long term deal and he’ll be 30. If we sign him…we’ll have the oldest team of all time by the time all these contracts are at their end…not to mention the most expensive team to ever finish in last

      • yankeeswisdom

yea. I think we should be done with longterm deals for a couple of years atleast till Jeter wraps his up. Your right, we’l probably have an average age of 35 in a couple more years.

Fun Fact #1: Roy Halladay gave up eight hits and struck-out nine through eight innings in just 104 pitches.

Fun Fact #2: Albert Pujols just recorded a two-run double on a broken bat hit.

    • Will

I’m pretty sure Ransom had a 3 run double on a broken bat.
      Pujols has nothing on Ransom.

      • Steve in MN

        Ransom for Pujols + Rasmus

      • http://www.new.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/profile.php?id=594331910&ref=name Jamal G.

Yeah, but Pujols hit a line-drive double.

        • Zack

Andruw Jones hit a broken bat HR back when he could hit

Fun Fact #3: This is why they are both the best at what they do.

    • yankeeswisdom

Nothing against Teix..hes awesome and im extremely glad we got him..But I always wondered about Pujols. I mean A-Rod then Pujols…damn

  • Drew

    Wtf is this guy doin.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Jeter should have gone to third on that. We all know Giambi couldn’t make that throw.

  • Angry Axl

Why is gameday paused with Damon still standing there with only 1 ball for a count??

    • http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/00mwbIM15ofMv/340x.jpg Mike Pop

Game is delayed due to a fan running on the field right now.

  • pat

Anybody watch Ben? How was he?

    • http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/00mwbIM15ofMv/340x.jpg Mike Pop

He looked like a gentleman and a scholar.

      • Joey

and a socialist (but really I didn’t see it, hopefully someone recorded it and will post it up here)

      • inman

and a fine judge of women and whiskey !!

    enter sandman

  • Drew

I wish I could trust this gun.

  • Angry Axl

What just happened? still shows Damon sitting there with 1 pitch thrown, 1 out, and Jeter on 1st…

    • Joey

you need to refresh your browser, my gamedays working fine with 1 out 1 on in top 9 with Mo pitching

    • A.D.

      Why did you turn angry?

  • A.D.

    Suzuki = Yankee Killer

  • http://actyankee.blogspot.com Matt

    Bye bye.

    Really?

  • http://actyankee.blogspot.com Matt

    Seriously, O-Cab?

  • A.D.

    O-Cab just an illogical bunt.

  • kelviNator

    There’s your K.

  • pat

  • Drew

I thought Wanger was in Tampa.

    • http://actyankee.blogspot.com Matt

      The start’s on Thursday.

      • Drew

True, I just figured he threw his bullpen session down there.

  • Will

I know someone said this the other day, but the best part of Mo pitching is that Jorge never needs to move his glove.

  • tim randle

i know andy went 7, but how did he look? labor hard or smooth and happy?

    • Drew

I missed the first two innnngs, from what I saw he was good, one scratchy inning.

      • tim randle

        (aside from wang)

isnt that a few starts into the 7th now for us?

joba starts making it to seven, we might have something here…if only we could get swisher into the rotation…

        • Drew

I think Pettitte went 7 in all three starts

        • Zack

projected 30 starts for Joba, but around a 150 inning limit.
When is Joba going to actually complete 7 innings?

          • Drew

I think he was just pointing out how solid our horses are. You are right though.

          • A.D.

When Wang gets sorted out there will be more missed starts for Joba.

    • http://actyankee.blogspot.com Matt

Worked in and out of trouble, didn’t quite labor but wasn’t exactly terribly sharp.

  • sean

Watched yanks on MY9. had to be pumping crowd noise in. Sounded like 50k in stadium

  • Drew

    Venditte 1.1 Innings 3 K. IPK pitched okay but 3 BB’s.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Heh, Ankiel’s got the Giambi ‘stache going.

    • http://actyankee.blogspot.com Matt

I can’t watch on MLBTV but I’d imagine that a ‘stache on Ankiel is RIDICULOUSLY creepy.

    • Drew

Oh shit, Perez blew up in the fifth. When I checked the game earlier it was 4-0.

  • http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/00mwbIM15ofMv/340x.jpg Mike Pop

    Damn you, Clayton!

  • MikeD

Not that it matters, but the answer to the YES trivia question was WRONG. They asked who hit the second-most HRs after Jason Giambi after leaving the A’s. They gave the answer as Roger Maris, with 203 HRs to Jason’s 209. Unfortunately they seemed to have forgotten about some guy named Reggie Jackson, who hit 294 HRs after leaving the A’s. How quickly they forget!

    • http://forums.projectcovo.com/images/smilies/e6omir.gif Expired Milk

It was as a Yankee and Reggie only had 144

      • MikeD

Ahh, thanks. Must be that same selective hearing that caused me trouble in school!

  • Jack
    • Drew

I laughed so hard when I got to the last one! Holy shit that was funny.
