handtius says:

Get that Wang in there!

Wang sure got some suntan with all that time off.

JobaWockeeZ says:

*Sigh* Veras.
Maybe Wang for the next inning?

handtius says:
yankees=warriors says:

pc69 says:

Love the Zambrano melt down.

V says:

WHAT THE FUCK?>?

Veras in instead of Wang?

WHAT is Wang even there for? Just put him on waivers and let the Padres have him for his salary if you’re going to let him sit in the bullpen.

V says:

Yes, I’m kidding, as I don’t want to give him away, but this is beyond stupid from the Yankees. PERFECT situation for Wang to make an appearance, and.. we get Veras.

Some call me...tim says:

So we don’t even have the chance of him helping us this year? How much sense would that make?

V says:

Sarcasm filter fail.

Try ending with

/sarcasm

JobaWockeeZ says:

Seriously, we’re not going to 8-0 every game. Pull Wang out if he gives out 4 runs but he needs to pitch eventually.

Tony says:

And of course, Girardi goes to Veras. This means he’ll be the long man tomorrow.

Dave says:

Really? No Wang here? At this point, how bad do you feel for him? hes not even getting a chance to do anything. Its just sad.

yankees=warriors says:

I agree.
Seriously, as big a Yankee fan as I am, this is too much.

If they don’t want Wang, just let him go already. Plenty of teams are waiting to fix him/ give him a chance.
Are they trying to ruin Wang’s career?

Totally not cool…

sweet says:

i hope this is an attempt at sarcasm…

With a 25.00 ERA hasn’t he earned it?

I agree they need to do something about him, but I’m fine with Veras here. Its actually a perfect spot to get him going, and we need him, too.

handtius says:

Are you fucking kidding me? A reliever is more important then a 19 game winning started? Bullshit. Bullshite.

Yes, you’re right. He needs to be starting.

Somewhere else, like Tampa.

Drew says:

I gotta say.
Importance:
Wang >>>>>>>>>>>> Jose Veras

Winning games>>>>>>>>Getting Wang going

Especially with Hughes pitching so well lately. Its not like we don’t have a 5th starter, we do.

Drew says:

But we’re talking about innings in a blow out game. How does pitching Wang automatically lose us the game?

handtius says:

Why couldn’t they put Wang in this game for 3 innings?

Matt-Pitt says:

Really? Why wouldn’t you let Wang get some work in here? This doesn’t make much sense to me.

Dorian says:

It starting to look like they are just trying to phase him out.

Also I don’t want to take it to this level, but anybody else think this would be happening if he were…well you know.

Dorian says:

I know I know it’s ridiculous. But so is not having him in the game right now. I’m just searching for something logical. What possible reason is there to not have him in the game?

Because Veras hasn’t pitched lately, and they’re trying to get him going, too.

Think about this for a minute. If Wang comes back, that means you have to demote Phil Hughes, who’s pitching better and better with every outing. That’s why I don’t get you Wangers. There’s ZERO urgency to bring him back right now, except in your heads.

Doctor J says:

This just in from Anaheim: When Johnny Damon crashed into the left field wall, Bobby Abreu collapsed and had a sympathy panic attack

Jack P says:

Hahahahahaahhahahhahahahah; seriously thanks for that i really needed a laugh.

Drew says:

Wang. Should. Be. In. This. Game. Right. Now.

Drew says:

Twins with the bases juiced!

Drew says:

JobaWockeeZ says:

Masterson hit a better with the bases juiced and scored in Denard Span. Woot!

My Name Ain't Kelvin says:

handtius says:

This is really pissing me off. Not only are they snubbing their 2 time 19 game winner, but they’re fucking with his career. These long stretches without pitching could really fuck him up, both physically and mentally.

Charlie says:

Holy fucking shit, I’m sorry, but Joe Girardi really is a dumbass. Chien Ming Wang’s corpse is rotting out there, you’re up by 8 runs, and you put in Jose Veras. Not that Veras should be used in any situations other than a blowout, but Wang will never get better if he doesn’t pitch. Get a fucking brain, Girardi!!

Accent Shallow says:

Even with an 8 run lead, I only trust Wang for the 9th. Not joking.

Charlie says:

he needs more than one inning of work, if he starts gettin rocked they could always get him out of there. I don’t trust Wang either, but this is fucking retarded

alan says:

Hate to say I told you so!!!!

Ed says:

This was a perfect situation to bring in Wang. Couldn’t have asked for a better one and he blew it. I wonder what he is thinking.

Justin R says:

I am hoping he goes the 8th and 9th. We shall see.

V says:

Not if he’s not warming up already.

Ed says:

If Veras doesn’t give up 3-4 runs first.

e mills says:

Accent Shallow says:

So . . . I’m actually more worried about Matsui after those home runs. He looks horrendous running the bases, so much so that I can’t believe he’s 100%.

Hopefully he can keep hitting jacks against pitchers who aren’t making their second career start (Holland) or aren’t complete horseshit (Jennings)

(Definitely encouraging to see him hit against Holland, who had been sawing off lefties to that point)

He’s typically hit lefties well, when healthy.

Accent Shallow says:

He definitely has, just with a bit less power. I just hope his knees aren’t acting up.

Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

Mike A, are the Nationals going to end up with the next great battery next year. Will they get Bryce to catch Stephen?

V says:

Bryce ain’t draft eligible til 2011.

Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

Well nevermind, smarty pants.

What if he graduates early? Gotcha, Five.

Chris says:

The Natinals will still suck in 2010 and will probably earn the top pick again…

Yeah, he’s not draft eligible until ‘11, but obviously the Nats are still the favorites for his services.

JobaWockeeZ says:

I’m jumping on the “WTF R U DOIN GIRARDI” bandwagon tonight.

Justin R says:

8-0 Yankees but Sutcliffe was more impressed with Holland than AJ. Sounds about right.

Justin R says:

Oh God, shut up Sutcliffe…here we go with Joba to the pen.

Doctor J says:

What a shocker–the 1st guy Veras faces gets on base (although he really did strike him out–ump squeezed him on that 2-2 pitch)

Dave says:

Great. Now veras will give up 3-4 runs and they will feel uncomfortable going with anyone else other than coke.

MattG says:

I know what Girardi will say. He had Veras warming up last inning, so he felt like he had to use him.

mistake #1: 6-0 is a good enough lead. He should’ve had Wang warming up in the 7th.

mistake #2: how is he going to explain not using Wang in the ninth inning? Its only one inning, so why bother?

MattG says:

Hmmm, I am ahead an inning. Well, this is not so absolutely horrible, then.

Yet.

Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

I loved Ron Washington on 21 Jump Street.

Matt-Pitt says:

Wang better be throwing the 8th and 9th… It wouldn’t really surprise me if Girardi were to throw Tomko out there. That just seems like the kind of decision he would make right now.

Tom Zig says:

True or False…Jose Veras = Kyle Farnsworth

Drew says:

Charlie says:

That’s tough, but I’ll say true. I hate both of them to the point that seeing them warm up makes me sick. I think Farnsfuck threw more strikes tho.

Jamal G. says:

Although I agree Wang would being in the game would make sense, Jose Veras hasn’t worked since Sunday and there is an off-day tomorrow. So while you guys may have wanted Wang in, putting in Jose Veras makes plenty of sense as well.

Ed says:

It’s not that I have a problem with Veras in there. It’s just that this would have been perf…8-2..ect opportunity to use Wang.

MattG says:

Getting Wang work is much more important than getting Veras work.

I’m getting the impression that some people will be saying “WHERE THE FUCK IS WANG?!?!” at some point during every game for the rest of the season.

Drew says:

Every game? Exaggerate much?

Chip says:

And those questions would stop as soon as they start using him

Nady Nation says:

If a perennial 19 game winner was wasting away in the pen during every game for the rest of the season with seemingly no plans to work him back into action, all b/c of 3 bad starts, I’d hope people would question why that was happening

Dave says:

Kyle Farnsworth>Jose Veras. I actually liked Farns last year.

e mills says:

Accent Shallow says:

Wang could have done that, Veras.

yankees=warriors says:

Well, Wang could have done that…

Jose’s just pitching to the score.

Axl aka Tom Selleck says:

What’s the point of Jose Veras? I mean really…

Axl aka Tom Selleck says:

Burnett didn’t pitch that bad (too many walks per usual) and they send in Veras to make it interesting…and make AJ uneasy on the bench

Bryan says:

God I hate Veras, WHY IS WANG NOT IN THE GAME!!! Jesus Christ its not logical!

Greg G. says:

Well, at least Veras hasn’t walked anyone yet.

yankees=warriors says:

JobaWockeeZ says:

Wang could have done that too abut this time it won’t hurt as much and he can get back to the Wang we know and love.

Tony says:

At least w don’t have to hear people saying that we all second guessed Girardi because we are teh lohudderzzzz

As I type this, LOLCOKE

MyNameIsNed says:

You know what they say about Veras…..

“Thats just Jose being Veras”

Who’s dick do you have to suck to get him DFA’ed? I dont swing that way, but I have some gay friends who are willing to take one for the team.

Axl aka Tom Selleck says:

But Jose Veras has “STUFF”!!! LOL I love when people say that…as if it means anything if it’s ineffective. That’s like saying “My friend Bill is the most intelligent person I know…but he’s in prison for life…” So what good are his smarts??? You’re only as good as your numbers at the end of your career…and I’d be willing to bet Veras’s numbers aren’t anywhere close to being worth keeping when it’s all said and done.

Accent Shallow says:

Because if Veras can harness his stuff, he can put up excellent numbers. Much like if your buddy Bill can harness his intelligence, he can break out of prison.

Jamal G. says:
Axl aka Tom Selleck says:

Change your diaper…it’s getting old.

handtius says:

Dave says:

wait, who was warming in the pen?

Charlie says:

Is it wang cause im not watchin right now

JobaWockeeZ says:

And a walk…the cycle is complete. Put Wang in.

Charlie says:

FUCK YOU JOE GIRARDI!!!!!!!!!!!!!111 AND FUCK YOU JOSE VERAS!!!!! Good thing we have a big lead cause Veras preys on leads.

pc69 says:

ok this makes zero sense

Dave says:

Oh christ. Hamilton.

V says:

Wow. My respect for Girardi tanked tonight.

Totally inexcusable.

JobaWockeeZ says:

I agree. I usually don’t bash Girardi but ugh. I mean I know Wang will give a couple runs but at least we hope he’ll get better with time. Veras ain’t going no where and he’s

handtius says:

Yeah…now we CAN”T bring in Wang…after Veras gives up a few more runs.

Matt-Pitt says:

Did Cash call a curveball on 3-2… Veras… You have a freakin’ 6 run lead (you had an 8, but you blew some of that) and you are walking betters? Really? THROW STRIKES.

dre says:

why is veras still pitching????

Bryan says:

Better question- Why is veras still on this team?!?!

Charlie says:

him and joe girardi must be really gay for each other

e mills says:

Leyland wouldn’t have gave him the tap on the hiney

Tom Zig says:

Well at least Girardi didn’t wait till it was 10-8 to take out Veras

Well that was a fruitful decision.

Drew says:

Smooth Move Joey G!!

Infamous says:

And this wasn’t a perfect situation to use Wang because…..

dre says:

finally joe makes a good decesion…

Dave says:

What does Joe say to Veras every time he comes in to take the ball? I’d imagine muttering “Well, you have failed me yet again” gets boring after a while.

Matt-Pitt says:
Dorian says:

That just brought tears to my eyes lmao. IETC

Tony says:

Girardi’s plan this year was to get back to the winning ways of the Torre years. Step one in this plan is to give turn Coke into his personal Scott Proctor. He figured he’d be one-upping the old man since Coke is a converted starter AND lefty. Bonus genius creditz.

Axl aka Tom Selleck says:

Hey cmon…don’t single out Proctor. There were plenty of Paul Quantrill’s and Tanyon Sturtzes before there was Scott “Doc Proc” Proctor…

Axl aka Tom Selleck says:

Well Girardi doesn’t really have much to work with in the bullpen…I wouldn’t be surprised if he closed his eyes and pressed his finger down on the availability sheet randomly and goes with it…

Charlie says:

Nothing against Dave robertson, but WHERE THE FUCK IS WANG???

My Name Ain't Kelvin says:

I get it now. Girardi wants to show one more time to us all why Veras should not be in the bullpen, and say something like, “Veras is not helping right now, Better call up that Melancon kid”. That Girardi and his sneaky plans.

yankees=warriors says:

This is seriously a slap in Wang’s face.
More than 3 years of hard work for this team, and he has even less value than Veras?
Just because he’s quiet and doesn’t voice complaints doesn’t mean he doesn’t have feelings!

JobaWockeeZ says:

I doubt Girardi is aware of Wang’s existence.
At least D-Rob is in and he can get some work done too.
But EFFING VERAS? Why in the name of Mo is he in?

yankees=warriors says:

Yes, Robertson totally had to come out once Veras gave up those runs, I was just complaining about Veras being selected over Wang for the inning.

Accent Shallow says:

Girardi has kids, I’m sure he’s aware of . . .

Oh, nevermind.

Axl aka Tom Selleck says:

I agree with Sterling on this one…

“If you can’t bring in Veras with an 8 run lead…when CAN you bring him in??”

Dave says:
Justin R says:

In Washington for the Natinals.

Accent Shallow says:

Definitely a lot more anger than you’d expect with a 8 6 run lead.

Greg G. says:

I was thinking the same thing. This thread got ugly fast.

e mills says:

bringing Veras in should go as an Error and bring the streak to an end

Charlie says:

Mike Jones says:

Anibodi els ecsited four da Natinal Speling Bea? I am!!!!!

Moshe Mandel says:

Girardi needed to use these innings to get relievers who have not pitched in a while some innings, especially with an off day coming up. Mariano and Veras (as much as we hate him, they are counting on him, for now) needed work. I dont blame Joe for not using Wang here. I blame Cashman for the stupid decision that put them in this position. That should be Tomko or Fossum or someone as the mop up guy, and no one would be complaining.

Charlie says:

Well i agree that cashman is largely to blame, but its still ridiculous to not use Wang here.

Pasqua says:

Yup. The decision to activate Wang was the point of no return. I don’t see it so much as a slap in the face to CMW, I just don’t think Girardi has any idea of how or when to use him.

MattG says:

No, I disagree. Cashman put Wang on the roster because he thinks he is a better pitcher, and it makes the roster better. Girardi cannot banish him to a doghouse after 3 bad innings. You have to use the players your GM gives you.

For one thing, he can fire you.

Pasqua says:

I really don’t think they activated Wang with the intent of making the bullpen better. (He’s a starter and currently has no idea how to pitch…how does that make the team better?) I think they activated him out of panic over Joba’s knee. Everything we’re seeing is pointing to a shortsighted decision.

MattG says:

Again, I don’t agree. They activated him to make the pitching staff better. I don’t see it as panic. I do worry that Girardi is not on board, which will make the decision an awful one.

But maybe that’s just circumstances. Maybe Girardi has every intention of using him, but for whatever reason it hasn’t happened yet.

2 up, 2 down. So far so good.

Ed says:

Excellent point. The only thing is that Eiland was complaining today about not being able to find Wang innings in real games. Today was a great opportunity. It’s Cashman’s mistake, but Girardi needs to deal with it.

V says:

Exactly. They’re trying to find him innings, they say. Then they don’t put him into a game with an 8 run lead.

Either they’re lying, or stupid. Pick one.

Chris says:

Every time we complain about how a pitcher is used, it turns out there are extenuating circumstances. Remember when people were complaining about Girardi not using Mo in a couple games – turned out he had a dead/sore arm.

Right now, I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that there is something else up with Wang.

MattG says:

He’s already explained about not using Wang last night, though. And the explanation was lacking.

dre says:

thats how you pitch!!!!

alan says:

FUCK Girardi #$%^&&*!!!

Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

Why do you use symbols when the first word is “fuck”?

Fuck *&% Andy In $&#^@ Daytona!

Accent Shallow says:

Robertson rings up Hamilton without

a) breaking 90
b) throwing the curve

I like it.

Also, he’s actually throwing strikes. Love it.

JobaWockeeZ says:

Strikes? I do not comprehend this word.

Sheesh, it’s the first run Veras has allowed since May 7th. You’d think he just ran up in everyone’s house, kicked their dog, and ran out with a box full of ball points.

Axl aka Tom Selleck says:

Drew says:

lol true…
I think most of us just wanted to see our former “ace” in there.

Axl aka Tom Selleck says:

I’d be more happy hearing that Veras was DFA’d than I would be if they told me Wang was going to enter the game in the 7th…

JobaWockeeZ says:

I’m not pissed at Veras, but I’m pissed that he’s in the game. Reflecting on it, it was IAN KINSLER so ehh what can you do?

handtius says:

I’m upset because I want Wang in this game to get some work in. He needs it. Veras has been better, but that was a bad 1/3 of an inning for him.

John says:

Great let’s waste D-rob in a blowout

alan says:

Accent Shallow says:

You know, how all his ass-kicking in the minors, he’s yet to show that he can consistently do the same in the majors. Sure, he’s got a gaudy K-rate, but don’t you think he should get some more outs before we decide he’s reliable?

Accent Shallow says:

Whoops. Should read “. . . despite all his ass-kicking in the minors,”

Charlie says:

nope, i trust him more right now than veras or tomko

Tom Zig says:

Welcome to the Girardi circle of trust, Mr. Robertson

MattG says:

A teensy bit of my confidence in Girardi is restored. Yes, it should’ve simply been Wang, but at least he replaces Veras with Robertson. Torre undoubtedly would’ve gotten Phil Coke here.

Accent Shallow says:

Yikes, at least that was right at Damon. L7 and P7 are the same in the box.

Tony says:

Tomorrow Francesa is going to say Burnett is still stealing money and if Joba had been in the bullpen they would have shut this team out. Oh, you think that’s stupid since they were up 8-0 and there’s no way Joba would have been pitching in this situation? Didn’t stop him from essentially saying Joba would have pitched the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th innings last night.

V says:

I still don’t get why people bitch about Francessa.

STOP LISTENING TO HIM.

Nice job by D-Rob.

Dave says:

8 90 mph fastballs, two outs. Talk about making it look easy.

yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

I like robertson i dont noe y veras is still here they should dfa’d berroa and veras and bring up linden or rodriguez and melanconto replace veras hes a way bettter option than veras.

V says:

English is your second language, I presume?

Kevin says:

Any one else rooting for Veras to implode horribly every time he takes the mound, just so he can be demoted?

Charlie says:

yup, but i dont think they ever get rid of him

Charlie says:

**but only in blowouts/ non important spots

JobaWockeeZ says:

I want Veras to get some damn control so he can be effective. Our bullpen would be so much better if he could throw more strikes.

Drew says:

Uh, he can’t be demoted. So if he sucks, it’s a lose lose.

Charlie says:

he can be DFAd though

Drew says:

He’d be picked up. So it won’t be a demotion.

He can’t be demoted. You’d have to DFA him.

And to answer your question, no.

Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

They should have used all of the dollar bills that were on the ground, and bought him some braces for his summer teeth.

Charlie says:

The following people should leave the yanks right this second: Jose Veras, Joe Girardi, Brett Tomko, and Angel Berroa

handtius says:

Accent Shallow says:

All this rage and fury has me too intimidated to make a “WONG TO TEH 8TH!!@” joke.

It is very LoHud-ian. Firing managers with every bullpen move.

JobaWockeeZ says:

Score 20 runs and maybe we’ll see Wang?

Charlie says:

yankees=warriors says:

Good day for Cap.
More runs please!

Greg G. says:

Eddie Guardado! I didn’t know he was still playing baseball. Seriously.

yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

Damm i though he had dat one.

Rough night for Johnny.

Dave says:

Hope that shoulder isn’t banged up

Dorian says:

There are some real gems being tossed around in this thread lmao. I have laughed hard (like stomach hurting hard) at multiple posts. Keep em comin

Charlie says:

amazingly johnny d is da only yank without a hit

Axl aka Tom Selleck says:

Sterling is talking about a “courtesy rule” after leading by the 6 runs we have. Can’t swing 3-0…can’t steal a base…can’t take an extra base…etc. Even after Tampa blew an 8 run lead in the 9th. Ridiculous. When do you draw the line??

Axl aka Tom Selleck says:

Not a bad topic to talk about on a slow day on this blog…

Kevin says:

Sterling also says “Back to back, and-a belly to belly”… “the Melkman always knocks twice”… and “the Bamtino!”

Axl aka Tom Selleck says:

Didn’t you think Bobby Abreu really was “as sweet as candy” though?

V says:

Sterling is an idiot.

kunaldo says:

it’s a BS unwritten rule…until the other team stops trying, there’s not reason you shouldn’t pile it on…like you said, the tampa game is a prime example…anything can happen

it’s bush league for the other team to expect you to show mercy on them…bitches

He talks about that every time the Yanks have a big lead, and he thinks it ridiculous.

Since Sparky Anderson retired, I can’t think of many managers who believe in that anymore, especially with the offensive age we just lived through.

Dorian says:

Drew says:

Wang!!! Mo has answered my prayers!

yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

Wang in the bullpen omg.

Greg G. says:

Wang in the pen. Can everyone calm down please?

Drew says:
Greg G. says:

handtius says:

JobaWockeeZ says:

And my faith in Girardi has been nearly restored.

yankees=warriors says:

Wow, is that the “dogman” I saw there?

JackC says:

…and Wang is warming up in the bullpen

yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

2 innings for wang 2day.

Greg G. says:

Yanks have made a lot of “loud” outs tonight.

Tom Zig says:

Come on Twins, do us a favor and close out the sawx

Tony says:

If Wang can pitch in the 8th, why couldn’t he pitch in the 7th? Is he on a 15 pitch count? Doesn’t it make more sense to have the short relievers ready if something goes wrong? Confidence restored my ass.

Drew says:

Why ask why? At least he’s gettin some work now…

Tony says:

Because I’m not related to Joe Girardi

dre says:

took the words right out of my mouth…

dre says:

i was agreeing with Tony not Drew..

because it proves girardi doesn’t know what hes doing and needs to be replaced..

handtius says:

Wang is the new 7-8th inning reliever. The Yankees will now win the world series in a sweep. With Wang getting the MVP, while pitching to a 0.00 ERA and hitting 2 jacks.

handtius says:

Moshe Mandel says:

Because Veras had not pitched since Sunday, and there is an off day tomorrow. He would have gone 5 days without pitching. We dont like him, but the Yankees are using him and need to keep him sharp. Girardi is not at fault here, Cashman is.

Chris says:

Perhaps Girardi didn’t want Wang to work against the heart of the Texas lineup?

Of course, it’s easier to just assume Girardi is an idiot than to try to understand his reasoning…

Accent Shallow says:

So apparently A-Rod’s BABIP isn’t mean to normalize this quickly; that’s two absolute ropes hit right at outfielders.

Well, the 5-5 game probably helped a lot.

Chip says:

Well, Girardi must have been checking RAB and didn’t want to piss us off any longer

Pasqua says:

JobaWockeeZ says:

I think the entire Yankees are reading RAB!

Pasqua says:

Does Girardi read RAB during the game?

Joe — if you’re reading this — can I borrow some money?

Greg G. says:

Dave says:

Heh now that everyone was clamoring for Wang to come in (including me), how nervous are you he comes in and looks like April 8th Wang.

JobaWockeeZ says:

If he lets up 3-4 runs I’d take him out.

Ed says:

At least we would know.

handtius says:

I’m not nervous. I’m excited. It’s like watching a prospect called up…and striking out the first batter.

Some call me...tim says:

SSS alert!

One pitched looked like he lost it.

Loved the inning tho.
Let’s see another!!!

alan says:

Girardi better have a plan if Wang starts giving up runs.
An. Inning. Late.

Jamal G. says:

Hey, there’s Wang, can we stop the bitching now?

Greg G. says:

Tom Zig says:

***fingers crossed***

pc69 says:

So Wang is kept in the bullpen. Veras is still a reliever. Berrora still takes up a roster spot.

None of that makes sense. Cash and Girardi are losing their minds.

Oh and someone talked about Porcello earlier. If the Yankees had drafted him he would still be in AA on the “this is how we baby pitchers plan”.

Ed says:

He would be pitching the 8th.

Charlie says:

I know, it almost gets tough to love a team with such bad management

Dorian says:

Regarding your last point, I wouldn’t clown the way the yankees handle their pitchers quite yet. Ask Jon Lester how him getting his innings doubled is working for him this year.

Accent Shallow says:

Wait, you’re complaining about how if the Yankees had a 20 year old pitcher, he’d be in AA? Porcello’s been great, but the Tigers rushed him. We have no idea what effect that will have on his long-term development, if any. However, I doubt him being in the minors at this point would be a negative.

Dorian says:

GREAT job Girardi. Way to waste a bullpen arm then bring in our 2 time 19 game winner in for 2 innings.

Now that Wang’s on the mound, I’m nervous.

Greg G. says:

That’s okay, if he’s shaky, we can always being in Veras…oh wait…you asshole, Girardi!!!!

Charlie says:

the 25.00 ERA looks a lot nicer than the 34.50

JobaWockeeZ says:

Got away with a pitch on that strikeout.

65hughes says:

he still doesnt look right to me

Chip says:

Yeah, wtf is he doing not striking out the side!!

Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

Yeah he did. Dave Eiland looked at Girardi like he was disappointed.

yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

Wang new set up man lol.

These people screaming for Wang to pitch out of the bullpen need a nickname.

B-Wangers?

W-Jobbers?

Chin-Strappers?

e mills says:

In hindsight, perhaps he didn’t want Wang facing Hamilton and the middle of the order

Tony says:

In hindsight, it’s idiotic to dick around and burn two relievers when you just got screwed for doing the same thing YESTERDAY.

dre says:

you are a wise man tony

Jake says:

off day tomorrow chief

Dave says:

V says:

His pitches are sinking, but location and velocity are still mediocre.

Drew says:

I feel so bad for Wanger…

Dave says:

Christ, the Rangers are looking HR every swing.

V says:

Ok, his pitches in this AB have been pretty good. Velocity at 91-92.

JobaWockeeZ says:

Ehh that’s the YES gun. I’d prefer checking the gameday gun for accuracy.
But all in all a good outing for Wang.

Ed says:

last three 91 92 91

Nick L says:

the gamecast gun has him at 91 and 92

Accent Shallow says:

Topped out at 92 per Gameday. If he were healthy, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him 95-97 in relief.

Chip says:

Hitting his spots is more important than velocity right now. He’s doing everything he can to stay up. As long as he’s locating and getting outs this guy is happy

Accent Shallow says:

Oh, agreed completely. I’m just worried that he won’t fully regain his effectiveness until he’s able to run, which means we might not see Good Wang until 2010.

Nick L says:

VO says:

Wang says screw you RAB! And that’s when he’s pitching the important innings!

V says:

yankees=warriors says:

Nice inning, Wanger.
Baby steps~

pc69 says:

Certainly much better than Veras.

Will (the other one) says:

Sheddin’ points like they’re goin’ outta style.

Dave says:

Of course, hell get through 2 innings in like 15 pitches and not have gotten any real work.

V says:

I’ll take that over 2 bad innings.

Pasqua says:

But we will have a win in that case, and we can worry about the work in the morning.

JobaWockeeZ says:

I’ll take it. Maybe they’ll see that he’s good to go and give him more relief appearances. Gradually working his way to the rotation.

Andy Stankiewicz says:

To honor CMW I will now pull my Wang !
Nice job. Hopefully he will get his shit together and keep it together. I should try to do the same.

ngnyy62 says:

May I join the fun? lol

Glad to see him doing well!!!

Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

eeww. I hope you’re a chick.

Accent Shallow says:

Well, the first two batters were extremely encouraging.

Wang’s ERA is now 22.50.

(It’s to the point he could have started for Texas in their thrashing of the Orioles, pitched a complete game, and the Rangers still would have won)

Justin R says:

Wang to the 8th~!!!!

JobaWockeeZ says:

Uh-oh. I think I’m going to hear some ESPN BS about that int he morning.

yankees=warriors says:

Dave says:

That means CC gets less starts.

Kevin says:

The sinker still looks a long way off.

Chip says:

How so? His sinker looked phenomenal to me. The only one he left up was the strikeout pitch

“phenomenal” is overdoing it.

When he’s right, he should sit at 93-95 with the 2 seamer, and gets loads of weak ground balls. He doesn’t strike out many guys, so the SO tell me he’s still off a bit. His sinker doesn’t have a ton of movement when he’s right, some of those pitches moved so much they looked like sliders. He should be throwing hard with late movement.

Drew says:

22.5 era! lol that shit is dropping quick.

Dave says:

You know what we’ve missed with Wang out? Unrelenting opportunity for sexual innuendo every 5 days.

J says:

cmw might be getting away by throwing to a free swinging team. he threw a couple of good sinkers, but he still looks eh

alan says:

The question now becomes, do you give Wang another inning, or let Rivera get some work too?

JobaWockeeZ says:

Save Rivera. Our next opponents are the Indians, Rays, Red Sox and Mets. I’m sure we’ll see him a few times in that span.

alan says:

Accent Shallow says:

Love Good Robbie.

Drew says:

MattG says:

A few good pitches mixed in with some hittable crap. But that’s a huge improvement!

Greg G. says:

Good Lord, that was a rope.

Axl aka Tom Selleck says:

Robbie Cano! Doncha Know!

Nick L says:

Robbie looking good

JobaWockeeZ says:

THE NYS IS A BANDBOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh wait…

alan says:

Didn’t you hear? They built the whole stadium with steroids!!!

J says:

robbie really stayed inside that pitch nice hitting for that solo shot

Drew says:

I bet somewhere in a home or hotel, Melky is jumping up and down!

Tom Zig says:

Who is hotter:

Mrs. Burnett, Anna Benson, or Alyssa Milano

Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

I like em a little dirty. Anna.

Nick L says:

anna benson, easily

Andy Stankiewicz says:

I met Anna and Kris at a XMas party and I must say she is well put together.

yankees=warriors says:

No Mrs. Tex?
She looks like Reese Weatherspoon (excuse my spelling).

Andy Stankiewicz says:

When is it ok to start dogging Swisher? He is a great dude from what I see but he better start hitting soon. I hope it starts now.

Chip says:

Once Nady comes back healthy and they can actually rest him a bit. I don’t think he’s missed a game this year has he?

Andy Stankiewicz says:

Yeah that is true. I bet he could use a day off. I like the guy and I really hopes he snaps out of it.

Kevin says:

I guess the dream starting rotation of Johnson, Wang, and Cox will forever be a pipe dream.

VO says:

Damon and AROD are the only players without a hit, and a run.

Dorian says:

Why shouldn’t they try a 6-man rotation you could save a lot of innings for guys who usually have enormous workloads. Or why wouldn’t they try to spot start him seeing as they are trying to limit Joba’s innings. All possibilities that I think are more than viable. That is if they are actually trying to straighten Wanger out.

JobaWockeeZ says:

I’m sure Hughes will go to AAA if Wang returns to form. He’ll take Pettite’s spot next year so we’re not wasting him. Plus he’ll be around when Joba reaches his innings cap.

Chip says:

As much as I’d like to straighten Wang out, a 6-man rotation wastes the immense talent of CC. Plus, you want Joba to just get his innings in and then worry about it. We need him ready to go 170+ next season

Tony says:

Genius Joe should concoct a schedule that…

Has Sabathia, Burnett and Wang on 5 days
Pettitte, Joba, Hughes on 6 days

And while he works on that, Tony Pena can manage. I see this taking a few months, hopefully.

Nick L says:

Mike Francesa agrees with you

Because a six man rotation takes starts away from CC. Not good.

V says:

Quick look at pitch f/x, his release point still ain’t right.

Tom Zig says:

I have a nickname for you people.

The B-Wangers.

JobaWockeeZ says:

Damn Berrora. I need Damon to get a hit for fantasy…

JobaWockeeZ says:

Oh sorry, reply fail.

AlexNYC says:

Greg G. says:

In what universe was that pitch a strike?

Charlie says:

swish is a k machine. He should get to know Chris davis. They’d make an awesome 1-2 punchout

there is the minor difference of about .100 points in their OBP though

Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

The way Sutcliffe raves about the Rangers you would think that they were killing the Yankees.

Pasqua says:

“George Clooney! You seen ‘im? Africa?”

Drew says:

IN what world is 231 respectable lol

Moshe Mandel says:

It’s funny. As fans, most will walk away from this thread shaking their head about Girardi. But we only see things from our perspective- we do not like Veras, we want Wang to get work, and therefore Girardi is an idiot. But he did a good job spreading around innings last year, and has done a similar job this year (although injuries have contributed there). He obviously felt that letting Veras sit for 5 days was not in the best interest of the team, and needed to give him an inning. That’s a perfectly valid managing decision. But all that people will remember about the thread is that people were pissed at Joe, and it will reinforce this idea that he is doing a bad job, even if the facts dont match the perception.

Chip says:

I think most people are satisfied now that Wang got into the 8th inning and will presumably pitch the 9th

MattG says:

His challenge, should he accept it, is to get Wang straightened out. I don’t care if that means Veras must sit for 55 games.

Straighten out Wang, and the Yankees play deep into October.

So you want Hughes sent to AAA?

MattG says:

I want Hughes to get 140-150 innings before September, then I want him in the bullpen in September (if everyone is healthy), then I want him striking out Manny in the 8th inning on Nov. 1.

Here or in Scranton?

Because the minute Wang is back in the rotation, Hughes gets on the bus to Scranton.

alan says:

Yes, and what’s the point in giving Veras work anyways?
He always comes out many days in a row!
Plus, he’s always throwing “balls”, what does rust mean to him?

Greg G. says:

Tony says:

So your position is that everything Girardi does is correct because he made what he believed to be the correct decision.

Circular reasoning, ftw

Moshe Mandel says:

Huh? My position is that this decision was a perfectly reasonable decision.

Strawman, ftw.

dre says:

Moshe are you related to Girardi? because he is not doing a good job, he did not do a good job last year and hes still sucking it up this year, even when we win i can pinpoint stupid decisions that he makes and no i’m not nitpicking, he just has no sense of logic

Moshe Mandel says:

Most of the things people have complained about are bullpen issues, which all look bad due to poor performance by everybody. I can count on one hand decision where I really could not find a valid reason for what he did. Just because he does something differently than you want does not make him wrong.

JobaWockeeZ says:

Yes but Veras can pitch at anytime. Girardi still uses him in like 3-4 run leads and we can get those easily. We aren’t going to get 8-0 leads often and we should have used it to get Wang back to form which is more valuable.
