I’m confused. I was under the impression that the game was over when the Yankees trailed 1-0 in the second. I guess the rumors were right, and they do actually play 9 innings.
I thought I read an article with a scout saying his bat speed is gone, and another one how his fly balls, liners, and fliners are travelling less distance this year?
Yeah, but the announcer is supposed to be excited when the home team does well. I mean, he’s broadcasting to the team’s fans. They don’t want to hear that monotonous shit.
Whenever the camera turned to Torre during the games, he always came off as being very calm. The guy would be drinking tea for half the game. Whenever the camera turns to Girardi, you can actually watch him age right before your eyes. He is wound up so tight. I’m not saying which one is better, or if one strategy is better than the other, I am just saying it is a noticeable difference.
Also, I expected his stuff to be a lot nastier, given some of the lines he’s held hitters to. For example, his 2007: RHB had a .329 OPS against him. That’s right, OPS. Maybe it’s the deceptive delivery.
The weird thing is that he was just a garden variety middle reliever in Japan, nothing special at all. Older guy whose career was coming to and end, and wanted to give US ball a try.
Yes, you can. You’re paying $36M for his decline years. He won’t be this good when he’s 39, and he’s no good on the basepath or the field. No one said the deal would be bad for this year, but it will get ugly starting next year.
Yeah, but do you remember people saying the Yanks would regret the last two years of the Damon deal? Yeah, Ibanez is older, but it’s still the same idea.
For real though, he was the best considering there wasn’t much buzz about him and he has had himself a great year so far. Everyone questioned the signing and it has payed off big time. Better than Tex though? I dunno
I wouldn’t doubt it. A hospital in England has been doing a trial with contact lenses soaked in a culture of stem cells and it has cured blind people and restored vision in people who were nearsighted. That’s fucking CRAZY!
In all seriousness stem cells or RNAi technology allows almost anything to be possible at this point, since there’s so much promise and a lot of unknown.
Yes, I am unitelligent. Your ACE is approaching 120 pitches in the rain, with zero outs in the 8th, missing the zone, so yes I am unintelligent. And now he has runners at 1st and 2nd, no outs, luckily did not pull a hamstring on a wet field.
Jesus fucking christ you fucking people do nothing but sit and attack every mother fucking comment. Get a fucking grip. There is NOTHING unintelligent about my post.
Ummm this is why the closer mentality is retarded. You should be bring Mo in this situation and then have Aceves face the bottom of the lineup. Unbeleiveable
No, this is a situation where using Mariano would be the best option because the opponent’s best hitters are up with the tying run on second and the go ahead run on first.
To reiterate what everyone else said, I’d much rather see Mo here, and someone else for the 9th. Unfortunately, no one’s gonna use a closer like that . . . once he’s in, he’s staying in.
as manager, im happy with 1 ER in 7 innings from my ace… 9,1,2 coming up… why not your set up man… doesnt make sense, i can see if CC had 90 pitches, but 100+…
Man. I don’t know what to say. We can’t catch a break. What do we have to do to get just one win against this team? So frustrating. Can something go in our favor just for once? Like holding a lead for more than an inning?
Not gonna knock CC. He pitched a great game and ran out of gas. Just another tough break.
Joe should have pulled CC, and let Aceves start the inning, at least he should have pulled CC after allowing a baserunner, not wait until a run gets knocked in with no outs.
This if fucking BULLSHIT. Joe Girardi is a FUckIng dumbass!! Leave your ace out there in the rain after over 120 pitches when he’s clearly out of gas. Fucking unacceptable, i’m tired of this shit. We’ve got a bullpen for a reason, put in D-Rob or Alfie to right when CC shows signs of tiring, not when the game is about to be blown. JOE GIRARDI, YOuR A MOTHERFUCKER.
No, i wouldn’t be. You can’t expect someone to be going strong after well over 100 pitches. If Joe wanted CC starting the inning, fine, but if it wasn’t fucking clear that he didn’t have it after nick green got on, it should have been crystal fucking clear after the walk.
Incorrect. Every GM on this blog said burning CC like it was the last game of the year was the way to go. Instead, he was gassed and left the tying and go ahead runs on base.
Minus one outing for Veras last year and his ERA was under 3.00, Edwar was acceptable last year, and Bruney is hurt this year, Marte is hurt as well. Juan Cruz was the only guy out there and he has a ERA over 5 in KC.
I’ve defended Girardi many times, but this is on him. Mo should have been out there. I’m not saying hes not the right manager for this team, but this was clearly the wrong call.
Agreed. Please don’t second guess Girardi there. CC was dealing and he’s shown he can work out of trouble time and time again. Aceves couldn’t get the job done. Now we just gotta stop the bleeding and score in the 9th.
after the 7th was over, coke or aceves should’ve been in… once u got to the 4th hitter in the inning, u dont bring one of them in than… thats when u bring in Mo. Girardi fucked everything up, sorry… but where’s Sweet Lou?
So what? 3-4-5 was due up with the tying run on second and the go ahead run on third. Fuck the goddamn save and have Rivera pitch to the them and let Aceves get the ninth inning.
TEHH WORLD ISS KRUMBLIN”’1!!1!1!!!. Nah I agree with you. It’s totally frustrating. But at the end of the day, realize you have no outcome on these games. Your bad days don’t stop their lives, don’t let their’s stop yours.
It’s pretty funny that we, as in us bloggers, can grasp the whole bring in your best releiver in the most important time of that game no matter what late inning it is, but the people who are paid, aka the managers, are seemingly oblivious to it.
Look nobody here is upset with leaving CC to start the 8th because of the current bullpen. BUT the problem is Girardi has so little faith in the bullpen, justifiably so, that he tried to force extra pitches out of CC and this isnt the first time it has happened this season.
If the Yankees had a better bullpen CC wouldnt have had to start the 8th. I like Aceves, but a situation like tonight is not what he is best suited for. Granted Bruney coming back should help some, but he isnt the mosr durable pitcher in the world.
im upset sorry, the bullpen has been halfway decent recently and you just cant put CC out with that many pitches… not only for this game but for the rest of the season as he has pitched way above his career average pitches per game this year and he will be with the team (hopefully) for 7 years, you just cant risk him and you have to rely on the pen
Frustrating. I think what is the worst part is CC gave the team exactly what they needed through 7 and poor bullpen management is going to make a blow opportunity the story. Barring a comeback.
PEople who keep complaining about everyone being mad at Girardi there are the ones who should shut the fuck up. HE is just an awful manager, with a terrible feel for the game.
Girardi couldn’t win there. Bring in Mo for the 8th, take him out in the 9th, someone blows the save, people will flip. Joe went to his non-Mo reliable arm out there he blew it. He sticks with CC, CC blows it, people will flip that CC should’ve been pulled. At some point, Joe’s men need to do their jobs. If they can’t get it done, bring in people that can.
1st and 2nd, up 1, no outs? Who else can you trust, other than Mo? Every any other reliever in the game is on thin ice there. It doesn’t matter who’s in the pen.
Same thing with A.J.Burnett.He once pitched 7 strong innings giving up 3 runs. Then because of the pen went out in the 8th and gave up a hit and a walk and the bullpen came in and gave up the two runs.
So a strong performance of 7 innings became a bad start because of the pen.If pitching the 8th innings is so easy I wonder why none of these pitchers can do it.
Is Papelbon going to being doing that weird face shit his whole career?? When he turns, like 35, is going to be like, “Hmmmm, this whole intense face thing is a little juvenile”…
Say what you want about him man. The dude is a beast. There are only three guys I would trust to close a game for me. Mo, Papsmear and K-Rod. That’s it. The rest aren’t even in the same universe.
Thank you sir may I have another?
I am freaking happy the Yanks do not have to see this team until August 6th.
The Yankees have no answers for this team right now.None.
They are the Yankees DADDY !!
Now the Yanks can lick their wounds agaisnt the Mets and Nats.
PATHETIC !!!!!!!!
Well going 0-2 with RISP the first game, 2-15 in the second, and 1-11 in the third sure doesn’t help any.
I can’t even blame the umpires for this. We suck. We saw it all this series. Starting pitching blow ups, base running gaffes, errors, defensive misplays that should have been errors, lack of hitting with RISP, and last but not least a bullpen blow up.
Whatever dude. Look at how dejected the team is. No amount of slobbering is going to change the fact that they are owned by the Sox and are in a funk. Plus, their pitching is struggling and they seem to have fallen into that “can’t hit with RISP” again.
This weekend should be interesting. A battle of 2 teams coming off tough series losses against the teams in their division who owns them like little bitches.
Why this lost sucks ass. This is the first series with a completely healthy team. Oh wait our BP still is without it’s best 2 arms. I do blame girardi. You need to take c.c out after the midget. He was all over the place and was gassed.
FUCK GIARDI, FUCK ACEVES, FUCK CASHMAN, FUCK JETER, FUCK, DAMON, FUCK SWISHER, FUCK THEM ALL! I AM NOT WATCHING A SINGLE FUCKING GAME THIS WEEKEND, THEY CAN SUCK MY ASS!
Sorry. This loss pisses me off. Not nearly as much as everyone else. Sort of funny watching all these people line up to jump off the Brooklyn Bridge. Tons of baseball left folks.
You know how this will end right? Tim McCarver talking about this series in October when he points out how baseball is crazy when the Yankees start the 9th, 8 runs up and 3 outs away from sweeping the Sox in the ALCS.
We will be back from this, this happens (even if it shouldn’t)
Its never happened in our history bro. We don’t lose 8 straight to this team. The optimism is good, but we’ve all played some level of organized sports. When one team beats up on you over and over, it gets in your head at a certain point. Tonight would have been a confidence builder to take into August when we see these bastards again. But it didn’t happen.
Well, look at it this way — think of how much of a confidence bulider it’ll be when we DO beat them. Better to get this ugliness out of the way now.
I’m pretty sure we’ll take at least 7-8 from these boobs by September.
You people who are trying to make this 0-8 start vs the Red Sox seem like its no big deal, I cant imagine what your reaction would be if the Yankees were 8-0 vs the Red Sox this season.
Except the Yankees were practically a different team during the first five games, which everyone seems to be forgetting. This was the first time CC Sabathia has faced the Red Sox this season, and this series was the first time the Red Sox saw A-Rod.
This is almost as bad as the ALCS in 2004. No words to describe the pain as a fan and lack of pride on this team. How can you let a team take you 8 straight without a win?
The ALCS isn’t played in June, if it was then the season might be over, somehow the rest of the summer might count. The 2004 ALCS comparison is nonsense. That’s like comparting a scooter crash to 9/11,
Yanks lost 5 in a row in early May and then won 9 in a row in May. Prior to this series they won 5 out of 7, now 5 out of 10. Because it’s Boston people are ill, its the same as being swept by the Royals. Baseball is about streaks.
It isn’t just because it is Boston. They are the only team that could give us a run for the division title. That is an 8 game swing in their favor. That is HUGE.
No it is not the same. Boston is in our freaking division, it is an 8 game swing in the standings. Losing 5 in a row to other teams may not be as bad because Boston could be doing the same or only winning 1 or 2 in that same stretch which wouldnt hurt as bad.
The Red Sox have gained 8 fucking games on the Yankees in the standings by beating them head-to-head so far this season. Plus in the end of the season you do realize if both teams are in the playoffs the head-to-head is a tie-breaker for the division.
It’s the same. You hate the Red Sox and so do I. Each loss only counts for one game. The tie breaker is meaningless and sometimes the Wildcard team has a better match up. making the playoffs is all that matters and the it’s all about who gets hot, not the home field.
I’m so sick of hearing people say its just another game and its just another team in baseball. This is sports. Do you think the Giants say that about the Cowboys or Eagles? Think the Knicks said that about the Bulls and Heat in the 90s? Nah man. They hated those teams and they never thought of them as “just another team”. They got up for those games. They played with an extra fire that you didn’t see against the “other” teams.
The Giants and Dallas don’t play 18 times a year. The edge of the series is not the same as it used to be. Later in the year it will mean more. Relax. If the Yanks fall more than 5 or 6 games out, then be concerned.
Dude, be honest. If in August we are still within a couple games in the division (up 2 or down 2) and haven’t won one against them yet, you wouldn’t care right? You just seem like the type of guy who doesn’t care how much a team owns you in the regular season. And that’s cool and your entitled to your opinion. But some of us just hate the Sox more than anything else.
I’m gonna do my best to understand your side and hope that we come back stronger in August and kick some ass.
Well obviously I think the Yankees are a lock to win the WC at worst so I am not one who is panicking and thinking this team sucks, the season is over blah blah blah.
Problem is to me the Yankees and Red Sox clearly are the best teams in the AL so I look at them as naturally the main competition to make it to the WS. People dont remember even in 2003 and 2004 the season series, at it has been basically this decade, is usually really close with the season series being either split or one team barely winning the season series over the other.
Being 0-8 against the Red Sox is definitely alarming, considering the Red Sox are nowhere near being a finished product just as the Yankees arent either. We all know Theo will make some moves and this Red Sox team will be only tougher come October. Obviously hopefully so will the Yankees but I just dont have real faith in this team, with this manager, in a big series vs the Red Sox.
I was thinking along those same lines. In 2003, the Sox had nearly caught up to the Yanks, but not quite, just short. The Yanks had that extra bit that would win them 51 games out of 100 over the Sox, and that one extra would be when it counted. Neither team is perfect, they’ve both got some glaring holes, but these two teams are the best in baseball. All of these games could have gone one way or the other. Closely matched, with a tiny edge to the Sox this year. I honestly think that it comes down to the front office putting the right guys on the field. The Sox have a team, the Yanks have a bunch of mercenary ringers. This will be close, and as a Sox fan, I’m not looking forward to September/October when we’re neck and neck. I’m rooting for my team, but I predict a nasty postseason series. May the best team win.
Dude, what the hell are you talking about? The Red Sox are the team that you will fight for the AL title with. There is a mental edge in sports. Do you think the Cavs said “Its just the Bulls” when Jordan would beat them time and time again in the late 80s?
The Rays are still hanging around. It’s June crybaby. Too much baseball left, it’s not the NBA or the NFL. The difference in playing Boston .500 would be that we would be ahead by two games, would that give the Yanks a playoff spot in June?
I can not believe this. The Yankees were cruising all season, but suck against the Red Sox. WTF
Also Michael Kay just made me feel worse with his commentary after the game, but he is just saying what we are thinking. Thanks for pushing that knife deeper in my heart Kay.
We just need to get more clutch. So many wasted opportunities while the Red Sox used all of their opportunities.
The bullpen will get Marte and Bruney so I am not that worried.
The lack of clutch hitting is astounding though. We can hit no problem until someone goes to second base.
If they can hang in and return to form, the only thing these losses will have an impact on is a potential division tie. If it comes down to that, we’re screwed. But with 100 games to go, I’ll take my chances that we can do it without beating the Sawx.
Cashman must fix this bullpen immediately!!!….No bjobber foolishness either. We’re probably going to have to raid our farm system to fix this disaster thru trades.
That was less than pleasant. I like our chances of getting back in first this weekend. Phillies are hot and the Mets are beat up. As for tonight I’ll just watch the basketball game and hope for cool facials or something to get over this loss, blegh
This feels like coming to school, thinking the bully isn’t there every day, and every single day right when you think you’re home free, he shakes you for your lunch money.
Because there’s still the majority of the season and many more game against the Sox this year. No one is saying it doesn’t count but this is way out of proportion.
Which thinking about it is okay since we’re 0-8 against them but still. It’s actually not as bad as today then yesterday.
They absolutely do matter, no doubt. I want to throw a shoe through my television. But I think what we have to take away is that even though we’ve lost 8 TIMES to the Sox in 8 GAMES we are only two out. What that means is that even though we suck against our rivals, we must be doing something right…and that’s beating the shit out of virtually every other team we play. The Sox have NOT done that. Just keep your fingers crossed that the trend continues. If it does, we’ll be alright.
Exactly how does it hurt the team mentally? Wang either straightens himself out, or Hughes is back in. AJ is a 2nd half pitcher. CC pitched a heck of a game, and the team couldn’t crush a crappy pitcher when they had him on the ropes. The 6 shutout innings from Penny killed.
It hurts FANS mentally – b/c we all know pinheads in Red Suck National who’ll rub it in. This team seems pretty resilient. This Sox team isn’t scary, and this has been flukey IMO. The trolls just make it seem much worse than it is.
Wait for Bruney and Marte (and Melancon hopefully). If this crap happens in September, I’ll be more worried.
In baseball, things even out. Yankees will lose as many close games as win them. Yankees will win a bunch of games against Boston now that they have lost a bunch of games. Those wins are like money in the bank.
Swisher needs a crash-course in running bases and catching fly balls. It sucks that guys make complete mental lapses that could cost the team a run or two or ten. Swisher looks ridiculous with that mohawk, he also looks ridiculous out on the diamond and in the field.
Injuries will also matter in the long run, no telling who could go out, on either team and under what circumstance. Tampa could get hot and blow both away and the WC could go to another division. Both Bostan and NY could miss the playoffs and all this crying would be for nothing.
CC deserved a better fate tonight. This is all so doscouraging. But we play again tomorrow. Let’s start a new win streak and root for the Phils against the BoSox. Even though 0-8 has been painful, I am really enjoying the Yanks, BoSox, Mets, Phillies all playing against each other at the same time.
keeping C.C. to start the 8th was fine, i would have done the same.
now, after he gave the first 2 hits and he came to the mound, u shouldnt go back and keep him in, but even then its SLIGHTLY understandable
so he takes him out after the drew single. fine
BUT FOR ALFREDO FUCKING PASTA? ARE YOU JOKING ME? THE GUY LIVES AND DIES BY PITCHING TO CONTACT. HE GIVES UP HITS, HE PITCHES TO CONTACT, HES NOT A FUCKING 8TH INNING GUY. ESPECIALLY WITH 2 MEN ON BASE IN A 1 RUN BALLGAME U SHITFACE.
UN FUCKING REAL, AND THEN YOU WONDER WHY YOUR BULLPEN SUCKS ASS, MAYBE ITS BECAUSE YOU DON’T KNOW HOW TO FUCKING MANAGE IT, U DONT KNOW HOW TO SET ROLES YOU SACK OF SHIT.
I think CC should have come out sooner ( maybe after the first baserunner in the 8th) and gone to Mo. But I really don’t get a lot of the screaming about Aceves “pitching to contact” and “not striking anyone out.”
Coming into this game:
Aceves: 24.1 innings, 24 so, 20 hits
I didn’t know a K per inning and allowing less than a hit per inning was pitching to contact and not striking people out.
Mo ( who I would go with regardless ): 25.1 in, 30 k, 26 h
We need to get Huston street and his 1.08 whip to the Bronx. Can’t rely on Bruney or Marte remaining healthy. Aceves’s lack of power resulted in this mini-blow up. The kids simply haven’t logged sufficient innings or confidence. Street is the answer.
doesn’t read like you’re totally against the idea. I think Street can do a terrific job in stabilizing this ‘pen. Is he a 1.08 whip pitcher in the AL east ?? Probably not. But his career whip is 1.07. So….
Street is definitely available right now. The Rox are willing to part with him, but it’ll cost us 1 good prospect for sure.
And I don’t think a good prospect is worth giving up for him. Someone of the Kontos variety is about as high as I’d go. I would not be willing to part with a guy like MacAllister for 2/3 of a season of Huston Street.
I would give up Zach McAllister. Cashman kept Hughes exactly for this scenario … to utilize young rising talent like McAllister in trades that could bring the Yanks over the top.
So the Yankees enetered Tuesday with the best record in the AL and a one-game lead in the division. After three losses they are ‘pathetic losers’ and the manager should be fired. Yankees fans are teh awesome!1!!1!!
This is the reason they are awesome because we are hurt by the loses and celebrate the victories. Yankee fans (who are not posers) live and die with the team. We probably take the loses harder than the team actually does.
Some ideas for Girardi-
1. Get rid of Berroa- DFA his ass. Get Shelley up here with his power bat up here ASAP.
2. Get rid of Veras. Call up anyone, but get him away!!!!!!!!!
3. Put Hughes back in the rotation- I know Wang is a FORMER 19 game winner, but we want to win NOW.
4. Teach your teams the basics like running and defense.
A side note to Cashmen
1. Get a reliever- trade McAllister or some other prospects.
Having K’s and being a shutdown late inning pitcher aren’t the same thing. Aceves is a good swingman. He’s not a pure set up man with great swing n miss stuff.
coke is not the problem at all. he’s not our best lefty reliever either, he’s our ONLY one. Veras should have been gone well over a month ago, get Melancon up here. Other than that, just start to trust david robertson and coke more, they’re the most reliable at this point.
I think Girardi read all those articles comparing Aceves to Ramiro Mendoza and had a flashback to the 1999 ALCS, where Mendoza shut down the Red Sox. Aceves is a decent long man, but he is NOT Ramiro Mendoza
Why? Honestly, what good is that going to do? It’s not the front office’s fault that Girardi botched two situations in the last two games (last night’s sac bunt and today’s non-use of Mo).
658 posts to this thread. I think Ben, Joe and Mike were so disgusted, they all tossed their computers and can’t open a new thread. I’m leaving. This is too painfully slow.
This was a fucking atrocious game. I’m still sick to my stomach over it. Terrible managing by Girardi, no clutch hitting outside of A-rod’s double, bad bullpen pitching as usual. I think Girardi is definitely the most to blame here because of the following: It’s the eighth inning, you’re up by 2. Your ace signed to a 7 year contract has thrown over 100 pitches. It’s cold and it’s pouring rain. He allows the first guy to reach, failing to put Nick Green away, the 1st indicator that he is getting tired. Then comes a walk where he was no where near the zone. 2nd indicator. So, you take him out, right? No, you leave him in, he allows an easy RBI single, and THEN you go to the bullpen. I’m not second guessing, either. I Would NOT have complained had Girardi gone to the pen to start the eighth. Bad, bad game. Bad, bad series. Nick Swisher better be benched tommorow for obvious reasons, and we better beat the shit out of the mets and nationals.
The Jesus was 2-3 w/a Walk, Z-Mac had a decent game 6 innings, 5 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned run, 2 walks, and one strikeout. Mike Dunn had 3 Ks in 2 innings, Sanit blew the save, though. 0.1 innings, 3 H, 4 R, 4 ER.
FUCK, JETER IS SO FUCKING COOL. We’re all about to jump off a bridge and when asked if he had any questions about the mental makeup of his club he answered “Nope” wit a smile.
I accidentally posted this some where else on the page

it isn’t hard to fix what’s wrong. You got 2 useless roster spots being taken by Berroa and Veras. Bring up a bat for the bench like Duncan who is raking in AAA and give Melancon another shot and keep him in low pressure innings at first. Get Wang fixed in long relief. Put Hughes back in the rotation. And trade for an 8th inning set up man to pair with a hopefully healthy Bruney and Marte.
This is REAL BAD. If Girardi still starts Wang on Wednesday…I’ll be front-line-and-center when he packs his bags and gets escorted out.
The ONLY good thing out of tonight was ironically the great pitching of Brad Penny (horrible offense of the Yankees) because they have Clay Buchholz and John Smoltz waiting to come up and they can’t really get rid of such good pitching.
Girardi is ruining the Yankees…the Yankees are again underachieving…and it’s back to pure embarrassment.
Hate me all you want…it’s not going to change the embarrassment. Remember that.
first
kill yourself
Fucking A-Rod. Now we can’t have the show unread comments feature for the rest of the night.
He broke it?! Just like all Yankees fans Hearts.
def broke it b/c of the roids
I thought the site got bogged down – couldn’t refresh
Longoria crushed that homer. looks like he might be back close to full strength
Absolutely perfect timing for Arod to get a hit.
Arod got his.
Come on Cc quick inning right here.
I’m confused. I was under the impression that the game was over when the Yankees trailed 1-0 in the second. I guess the rumors were right, and they do actually play 9 innings.
The new rule said that when the Red Sox score they win…but they haven’t upheld it. I r confused too.
Red Sox are protesting.
are we basically seeing Cervelli become CC’s personal catcher?
http://riveraveblues.com/2009/.....ent-417401
apparently not, I’m just an idiot
180 million reasons why
That’s a double with Bobby Abreu out there.
K-BALL!! let’s go, fuck this Shrek fag.
Really?
Come on man, no gay bashing.
CC is still the player the game.
This David Oritz person seems to cause a lot of problems for us.
0-2 hits = hair pullers.
But then again, CC has very little hair…
Of course Papi hits rockets against the Yankees and cant hit a beach ball against every other team in the MLB.
Seriously, what the hell?
I thought I read an article with a scout saying his bat speed is gone, and another one how his fly balls, liners, and fliners are travelling less distance this year?
double play Cc.
Michael Kay wasnt so excited when A-Rod had the hit… shouldn’t one of us be the broadcaster?
Michael Kay is a secret Yankee hater!
Actually, I think the problem is that he’s a huge Yankee fans, and overcompensates when he attempts to sound unbiased.
Yeah, but the announcer is supposed to be excited when the home team does well. I mean, he’s broadcasting to the team’s fans. They don’t want to hear that monotonous shit.
Agreed!!!
Yeah, he gre up in the Bronx around the corner from the stadium. Says he’s not a fan anymore, but I don’t know about that.
+1
Whenever the camera turned to Torre during the games, he always came off as being very calm. The guy would be drinking tea for half the game. Whenever the camera turns to Girardi, you can actually watch him age right before your eyes. He is wound up so tight. I’m not saying which one is better, or if one strategy is better than the other, I am just saying it is a noticeable difference.
Girardi always standing up with his arms crossed too looking pissed as fuck.
Baldelli looks stupid!
Umpire is calling more strikes – he must want to get out of the rain.
fuck yeah CC
Peace, Rocco.
Looks like Cervelli hangs out with Joba.
I have always wondered why Joba can’t move his target to Veritak once in a while from Youkilis…he is so over due for one on numbers..
What?????
Some one needs to drill Veritak once in a while..
Dorian – in your response to your last post last thread. Yes I FAILED, I’ll take that all day everyday baby.
I would have as well lol
BEAST!!!!
I think hes going for the complete game tonight even if it takes 130 pitches like halladay the other day.
CC is so fucking awesome, even though he doesn’t want to be in NY.
Untrue. The Angels made a good offer for him so we had to apy more. Plus he moved his family in the area.
Sarcasm.
Varitek is unproductive, no luck in him, youkilis, full of luck, hit youkilis.
CC has pitched awesome but a few more runs won’t hurt at all.
C.C has been worth every single penny.
good luck getting cc out of this game, joe
Molina can take his time in Tampa … i get the feeling that CC wants Cerv around.
http://riveraveblues.com/2009/.....ent-417401
No way!!! It can’t be that way b/c Posada is god!
not saying Posada’s not, but sometimes pitchers do prefer pitching to a certain catcher
You have really put that link to use tonight.
just twice and just for you
put a 10 spot on this bullpen, watch how they’re not #1 anymore.
That number looks so weird on Saito.
Damn, it’s coming down.
Damn, it’s
cominggoing down.MEET ME AT THE MALL
Watching on YES bonuscam–watching Girardi shake from side to side is priceless.
Cervelli handles pitchers better than Posada
Ibanez with a 2-out, 3-run HR in the 10th inning. Amazing.
Guess he’s pissed about everyone talking about how bad his contract was.
or the steroid accusations
Eckersley is a pretty good announcer. NESN does a decent job…at least on days when Jerry Remy is off.
I enjoy Eckersley, he’s like what the hell just throw it
Remy is off recovering from surgery for lung cancer.
Saito looks huge, but he’s only 6’1″.
Also, I expected his stuff to be a lot nastier, given some of the lines he’s held hitters to. For example, his 2007: RHB had a .329 OPS against him. That’s right, OPS. Maybe it’s the deceptive delivery.
About 5’5″ of that is his legs.
The weird thing is that he was just a garden variety middle reliever in Japan, nothing special at all. Older guy whose career was coming to and end, and wanted to give US ball a try.
How can you be garden-variety with hi-90s FB with a deadly split and impeccable control/command?
http://www.thebaseballcube.com.....itoh.shtml
Look at the man’s stats. I don’t know what changed between then and his time as a Dodger, but something had to, right?
This is a different Saito then 2007, he has a torn elbow ligament and had the same procedure Nady is having right now.
Darling said that Ibanez the best free agent signing in all of baseball including Teixera.
Well for the money spent you cant argue with his assumption.
But Damon can run and has range, and his bat, even at that time, would play passably at a corner. Ibanez has no ability outside of his hitting tools.
Yes, 11% of the way into his contract, it is time to definitively declare that.
Andy, did you get that much-needed nose job yet?
Do you play defense too in baseball?
BUT HE DOES PED’s!
For real though, he was the best considering there wasn’t much buzz about him and he has had himself a great year so far. Everyone questioned the signing and it has payed off big time. Better than Tex though? I dunno
Yesterday I stated that all I wanted was for C.C to stand on the mound at the end of the 9th inning pump his fist and shout obscenities.
they have to stop this game, don’t they?
No, because then they have to take CC out.
Man, Matsui has missed some pitches this game he should’ve had….
Well at least he got a single.
hey, we hit the big green thing out there…
I love hearing a pin drop in that dump here’s hoping Melk Man cashes in.
2008 Melky swings at that pitch.
Matsui is done.
Nice catch by Roc.
Baldelli hasnt run out of luck…
man good catch by Baldelli. horrible route to get to it
eh nice rescue catch I thought that was getting by
I did not think he would catch that.
Damn it.
Damn. Sick play. That hit was slicing fast
Fuuuuck. Melky has been robbed a couple times this series.
shouldve hit it to one-nut lowell.
wow there is no way i thought baldelli makes that play..since he cant kill us with his bat anymore, he robs us in the field pffft
Why isnt gardner running for matsui?
Because Matsui is FAST!!!
he’s probably going to CF for defense with Melky moving to RF
hey i was right
Genius!!!
i tell myself that everyday
You can’t be right. No one but Axl can be right. Everyone knows that.
Baldelli will miss a week of games.
“they’ll play through this unless it starts to pour”, what does Kay call this?
Do you think some sort of byproduct of stem cell research could help Baldelli’s condition?
I wouldn’t doubt it. A hospital in England has been doing a trial with contact lenses soaked in a culture of stem cells and it has cured blind people and restored vision in people who were nearsighted. That’s fucking CRAZY!
thats crazy
In all seriousness stem cells or RNAi technology allows almost anything to be possible at this point, since there’s so much promise and a lot of unknown.
Ew
OK, my five minute tape delay over–Baldelli got a bad jump on that ball. Spectacular catch on a slightly difficult play.
If they call the game, the Yanks win? It doesn’t get suspended and finished later does it? Like in the World Series?
It can’t be called if the visiting team is leading and home team hasn’t batted.
It can only be called at the end of an inning?
Don’t they go back to the last complete inning as long as it is 5 innings or more?
Nope…It happened couple years ago in Baltimore..they played remaining innings few months later..
It’d be a Yanks W at this point.
That’s what I thought
They won’t call it. It’s against the rules in Boston.
Over/Under 1K for Sabathia this inning.
over
with that pitch, I believe so.
DOH!
push
Mexican Gangster up
wow that was a horrible swing
hey, lets sign nick green, he’s lucky…
Y couldnt he hit when he was with us.
This is CC’s game. No messing around with Al freaking Aceves.
CC straight to Mo. no other way
I trust Al, but I think CC can handle it.
that 2nd pitch to PEDroia wasnt a strike?
His grittiness made it a ball
high
This is just stupid leaving CC in this game.
why?
no my friend. you are unintelligent.
There is NOTHING unintelligent about my post.
i couldn’t agree more.
Joe this is CC’s Game leave him in there.
double play time?
im praying for one
CC not going to be in there for much longer
he’s at 120
Dustin Pedroia is NOT the toughest hitter to strike out. Ever heard of Albert Pujols?
wtf is with this midget…get him out cc on next pitch
Kay, can you announce for the red sox… fuckin christ.
He is so boring he should announce for the Wall Street Journal company softball team.
Great move Joe.
Tough spot for Aceves to be coming in here
leave him in for drew, hopefully we can get a GIDP
shize. midgets and their tiny strike zones.
You really should bring Mo in for this inning.
I hate Pedroia but that was a great AB.
good ab by pedroia
A double play CC.
atta boy, let him pitch
Wow, absolutely shocked CC is staying in here.
no one else is
shyt.
figures… luck > skill.
ugh this is not good
We are fucked.
Some optimism, anyone, please?
damn it man…
I hate the red sox so much.
horale
Straight to Mo?
Well that one backfired on them
pc69 was correct again
Aceves? Well, here’s a test . .
ugh not what i want to see. i trust aceves but against youk and bay…
CC lost the bite on his fastball toward the end.
Thats what happens when you throw over 120 pitches in a stressful ass game.
fuck. now the gangster to face youkilis. im shitting bricks.
From the Mexican League to 2 on no out bottom of the 8th inning in Fenway Alfredo Aceves this is your life.
Now I understand that you don’t want to use Rivera for 6 outs…but doesn’t this count as the at-bat of the game here?
I’m with you. This is the game right here. Bring Mo in now.
Yep, atta boy let him pitch. 1 run in already zero outs and tying run at second.
Why not go to Mo here?
I’m sorry, you have to go to your best reliever here. This is the save situation.
+1
http://riveraveblues.com/2009/.....ent-427414
Ummm this is why the closer mentality is retarded. You should be bring Mo in this situation and then have Aceves face the bottom of the lineup. Unbeleiveable
+4291
What do they do? Aceves for 6 outs or Mo for the 9th?
It’s the 8th.
you know CC is a beast, but after the first hit, you pretty much made sabathia throw BP…
If Girardi were coaching the Red Sox, he’d bunt right here
im not feeling so hot about this, 1st & 2nd none out, aceves vs youk in a 1 run game..please work your magic mexican gangster
I can’t handle this!!!!!!!!!!
This is a situation where wang could be useful in the pen. Try to get the DP.
No, this is a situation where using Mariano would be the best option because the opponent’s best hitters are up with the tying run on second and the go ahead run on first.
Wang in the pen in this situation??
Do you want them to hit a 3 run homer?
C’mon Aceves!!!!!! Please!!!!
I have faith in the Mexican Gangster. He doesn’t mess around. Come out throwing strikes and shut the Sox down. Viva la Mexico!
Don’t second guess the move now people. There was nobody I wanted on the mound but C.C
I don’t think anyone’s mad about keeping CC in. I’d rather Mo be in instead of Aceves.
To reiterate what everyone else said, I’d much rather see Mo here, and someone else for the 9th. Unfortunately, no one’s gonna use a closer like that . . . once he’s in, he’s staying in.
For the love of Mo, Can’t we have two innings of Mo?!?!
Girardi is gonna live or die with this decision I’m hoping the Gangster gets after these fools
No way you go to Rivera here. Shit happens in Fenway Park, and this 8th inning has the same amt. of pressure that the 9th has.
as manager, im happy with 1 ER in 7 innings from my ace… 9,1,2 coming up… why not your set up man… doesnt make sense, i can see if CC had 90 pitches, but 100+…
CC has always been pitching +100 pitch games.
Man. I don’t know what to say. We can’t catch a break. What do we have to do to get just one win against this team? So frustrating. Can something go in our favor just for once? Like holding a lead for more than an inning?
Not gonna knock CC. He pitched a great game and ran out of gas. Just another tough break.
God if Aceves blows this, ESPN and Francessa will be horrible to listen to and you know why….
1st and 2nd no out and a run already in is a damn difficult situation.
We need a triple play
Seriously, what the hell are you doing Girardi!?!?!?! Phil Coke up???
CC is great at pitching 100+ but 2 longer than usual innings, rain, and 9,1,2, shoulda went fresh with set up.
Cut some heads off Aceves!!! I know its in your blood!
Joe should have pulled CC, and let Aceves start the inning, at least he should have pulled CC after allowing a baserunner, not wait until a run gets knocked in with no outs.
you’re so good at second guessing
but if CC had gone 1-2-3 you would have said girardi was a genius for keeping him in through a high pitch count.
Cmon Ace…show them our pen is better!
Girardi looks like he’s gonna mix and match his way through this 8th
WTF WAS THAT
C’mon! we cant load the bases with no outs!
That was not a strike.
The way this ump has been calling yes it was
hmm… got most of the plate… perfect height… we’ll call it a ball.
anyone on Gameday? that was def. a strike
Last pitch was strike 3
I hate these umpires. Hate them. Hate them. Hate them.
alfie drop s nasty hook for a change ive seen you do it many times baby.
haha for a strike, too late though.
fuck man. damn this closer in the 9th shit.
This sucks, at least they didn’t score.
Pedroia wouldve been gunned at the plate
The difference between Cabrera’s arm and Swisher’s arm is the difference in the game right now.
Can we get a damn groundball?
Bring in MO
I’m going to cry if he hits a granny smith
doesn’t matter a single puts the game out of reach.
All this while the best closer in history of baseball is sitting in the bullpen
ohh damn
damn
Horsecrap.
dammitttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt
Fuck come on…
ugh this is horrible
Fuck you, Aceves.
Aceves needs to get 5 strikes per AB. Fuck you, umpire.
How can this team f stuff up this quickly?
This is bad luck nightmare.
I would have rather have been shutout than taken the lead and blown the game like this. The Red Sox are the Yankees daddy.
this is fucking unbelievable
WE GOT FUCKIN ROBBED AGAIN.
are we really going to go 0-8
does anyone else want to punch some of these fans in the face or is it just me?
Youk struck out, this should be bases loaded with 1 out… not tie game, ump fines? please…
ouch.
Not a save situation anymore.
motherFUCK.
eff!!!!!!
FUCK!!!!!!!!
OH FUCK….
Ace now needs to throw his curve.
Left CC in too long.
And not having any type of bullpen catches up to us.
I’m sorry, Al has been awesome, so don’t start. Go back to not commenting.
Yea, he was great tonight.
New spill over thread. STAT.
Now put that…down and away.
Aceves is a solid innings eater out of the pen. He doesnt have the stuff to get out of jams like this.
fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
wow what kind of throw was that?
youve got to be fucking kidding me
Fuck this.
i blame this on Nick fukin Green for that leadoff single
I COULD MAKE A MOTHERFUCKING BETTER THROW THAN THAT!!!!!!!!
Very odd, Yanks seems to be a totally different team v Boston
RAG ARM GARDNER
This is ridiculous
And Gardner lawn darts it. Argh.
Clearly not Aceves’ night.
I could have kicked the ball harder than that Gardner.
Damn. Grit Gardner.
JOE GIRARDI, YOuR A MOTHERFUCKER.
where were your posts earlier this inning?
my computer was messed up.
how convient
what the fuck are you talking about?
i said its convient your computer was down when the debate happened, but popped back up when it was time for the second guessing
shut the fuck up, i’m not second guessing. I wanted CC pulled before the start of the 8th inning to begin with.
Oh stop it. If he pulled CC and put Ace in to start the inning and he coughed it up, you would be bitching that he pulled CC.
very true.
No, i wouldn’t be. You can’t expect someone to be going strong after well over 100 pitches. If Joe wanted CC starting the inning, fine, but if it wasn’t fucking clear that he didn’t have it after nick green got on, it should have been crystal fucking clear after the walk.
What in the fuck was that, Gardner?
I blame A-Rod.
Jesus Mary and Joseph.
i hate doing this but im throwing some blame on Girardi. you cant leave Mo out there sitting in the pen in that spot.
Incorrect. Every GM on this blog said burning CC like it was the last game of the year was the way to go. Instead, he was gassed and left the tying and go ahead runs on base.
Does Drew tag-up if Melky was making that catch in CF????
does Pedroia score two plays before with Swisher in RF?
Wow we really do deserve to lose this game
this is unbelievable
wow gardy, your arm is bad, not that bad.
Game over
There is your game. Should have gone directly to the pen to start the inning.
That throw almost caught the infield dirt and he wasn’t that far away
The Mike Bloomberg ads are making this moment worse.
I just threw my entire office supply organizer off my desk im so fucking mad! Why was Mo not brought in!?!?!?!?!?!?!
I’ve got to find something to punch, and fast. I’m convinced that Girardi and the yanks wanted to lose this fucking game.
Unbelievable
The crappy part is that Boston isnt that great a team.
lol@gardners arm
and even more lol@bringing in a guy who pitches to contact in this situation.
we need guys who strike people OUT
Aceves: 24.2 IP
24Ks
So shitty. I wish Gardner could have at least made it a play at the plate.
why the fuck do we have mo? do get pressure outs. there were no greater pressure outs than the ones that were just given to alfredo aceves.
fucking goddamn it.
Not much to say here besides FUCK!!!
This is why the save rule has ruined managing. Rivera should’ve been in, not Aceves.
I blame Tony LaRussa. Worst dude.
JOBA TO TEH 8TH!@#@!#!@#!@#!@!!!
No seriously, just give us Mo for 2 innings!@!!
We need to destroy Papelbon.
Where are you batting in the order? I’m 7th.
I’m on the bench. Hope you win it for us!
WE could do it.
we won’t get a hit, our souls have been crushed
George Steinbrenner: better bullpen by now.
Cashman: we’ll come around by the 180th game.
how the fuck do you get a better bullpen? oh lets trade for krod
Having faith in rag tags like Edwar and Veras is good front office skills?
Minus one outing for Veras last year and his ERA was under 3.00, Edwar was acceptable last year, and Bruney is hurt this year, Marte is hurt as well. Juan Cruz was the only guy out there and he has a ERA over 5 in KC.
PITCH MO THAT’S HOW!
Sad part is CC’s line is 4 runs in 7 innings and most likely the Loss.
aceves killed it
I’ve defended Girardi many times, but this is on him. Mo should have been out there. I’m not saying hes not the right manager for this team, but this was clearly the wrong call.
Do we really need Girardi, seems to make some horrible errors in judgment
NO HE’S THE STUPIDEST MOTHERFUCKING MANAGER I’VE EVER SEEN. I WOULD LITERALLY FIRE HIS ASS.
by the way i was serious, not sarcastic here
oh come on , ortiz swung there
more importantly we need to stop the sox rally here
FUCK JOE GIRARDI. HE SHOULD BE FUCKING FIRED RIGHT NOW!! NO ONE TO BLAME FOR THIS LOSS BUT HIM. GODFUCKINGDAMMI.
this one hurts real bad
Wander if Wang wasnt so horrible last night and Hughes didnt pitch if he wouldve been brought in tonight.
When has Girardi ever brought Mo into a game in the 8th in a non save situation?
Get over that. We don’t have any type of pen. Aceves is a swingman. Not a shutdown 8th inning set up man.
Lanny! Again another post that is more constructive than others I have seen.
He’s done both actually and done it well.
dammit throw fucking strikes coke.
Coke was clearly not prepared for this, mentally.
At least Aceves threw strikes.
Damn. People pitch when CC is pulled, bitching when he’s not. SHUT UP!
pitch = bitch
he shouldnt have gone out gotta give the bull pen a chance
keeping C.C. in was fine, until he came out to the mound the first time and left him in.
But bringing aceves in? oh cmon
Teix is due for a hut. Let’s hope he blasts one.
*Sigh* ignore that
Agreed. Please don’t second guess Girardi there. CC was dealing and he’s shown he can work out of trouble time and time again. Aceves couldn’t get the job done. Now we just gotta stop the bleeding and score in the 9th.
Maybe Hughes is the 8th inning guy, also what do we do with Wang and his 22 ERA
Hahah niiice.
I hope Bruney gets healthy super fast. Aceves has been solid for us, but Bruney has more of an eighth inning makeup IMHO.
Why am i not surprised Coke is sucking?
COKE IS TERRIBLE
ACEVES PITCHES TO CONTACT, HE GIVES UP HITS TOO, GENIUS MOVE
Ok, stop fucking around. Bring in Mo.
u walk him on 4 pitches hes not gonna swing at the 3-0 count.
after the 7th was over, coke or aceves should’ve been in… once u got to the 4th hitter in the inning, u dont bring one of them in than… thats when u bring in Mo. Girardi fucked everything up, sorry… but where’s Sweet Lou?
these games are taking years off my life
Veras sucks
We need to trade for Huston Street. ASAP.
Why is that your reaction to this game when the root of the problem in this here was leaving the starter in too long?
CC doesn’t take the mound in the 8th if Huston Street is pitching the 8th.
VERAS!!!!! WHAT THE FUCK
would’ve liked Phil in that spot for a nice strike out, to bad Wang is terrible and needed to waste him yesterday.
This game I think I can legitimately blame Girardi. You don’t know if Mo woulda gotten out of it but I would have given you a hell of a better chance.
I can’t wait to hear his excuse for not going to Mo.
Uh, probably because it was the 8th inning with no outs.
They shouldn’t need 6 outs from Mo in a June game. They shouldn’t need 6 outs from him in Game 7. Get some pen help.
Oh, look, Lanny. The Yankees must be losing.
So what? 3-4-5 was due up with the tying run on second and the go ahead run on third. Fuck the goddamn save and have Rivera pitch to the them and let Aceves get the ninth inning.
don’t you think he would have just stayed in though.
Um. Is that how managers do it? I generally agree with that logic too, the people that manage MLB teams though, do not.
And, IMO, it’s fucking stupid.
it could have been Hughes, and most likely would have been, had not Wang only gone 2+ yesterday.
Don’t worry everyone, Veras is warming.
Hey there we go!
Lmao I was thinking the same thing.
If Coke holds them we’ll bring the winning run to the plate next inning.
Is crying an option… or shud i just not watch this team… i cant stop supporting them and yearning for a win
Jose Veras is warming up. Hopefully, he doesn’t ever take the mound in this game.
i can’t remember the last time he took the mound.
lets keep it that way
or any other game……..
No one walks people quite like Coke. Makes one long for Marte to get healthy.
If he gets extra bases. I might go to bed.
VARITEK!
Thank God
Hey, a second out. Hopefully they can get to the 9th only down one run. Argh.
Really these games suck, but the lead would only be two games for Boston with the rest of June, July, August and September left.
Of course it’s not the end of the world, but it’s damn depressing.
Ridiculous, way too early in the season to get that up, or down.
Disgrace a total disgrace.. there batters in the 8th totally battle.. CC hung a pitch to NICK GREEN..nick green is a career scrub…
the yanks try to hit homeruns with brain dead cano and great baserunning for nick the moron swisher..
nice series way to be embarrased.
nice 4 pitch walk coke to big papi, why the hell did the ybring you in???
friggin total disgrace……
You are correct sir.
TEHH WORLD ISS KRUMBLIN”’1!!1!1!!!. Nah I agree with you. It’s totally frustrating. But at the end of the day, realize you have no outcome on these games. Your bad days don’t stop their lives, don’t let their’s stop yours.
I loved that. Eighth inning; Yanks up 2 runs; and…the closer they get to blowing it, the closer Mo gets to his seat back in the BP.
So much wrong in this kind of situation, and one that could be so easily remedied.
Veras warming up in this situation just shows how depleted the pen is
You just feel bad for CC here… it’ll make him look bad on paper
all the whiners are forgetting that Leche is due up. It’ll be OK
eek! nevermind what am I talking about
Came in 1 game up, going home head between their legs and 2 games out. Poor defense, poor hitting, poor fundamentals.
Hope it is out of their system.
giving up already…good.
Poor base running..
So much baseball left this year. Impossible to know if these games will mean anything.
0-8 vs the team you are competing with and your biggest rival means something.
Look at who shows up? Where were you when they were winning?
0-8 against the fucking RED SOX means something, if not in the standings, then certainly in the yankees’ heads.
Girardi makes some bonehead moves but can you really blame him for sticking with CC with the disasters he has in that pen?
I don’t mind him sticking with CC up to the Drew single. I have a problem with him not using Rivera in the most important situation of the game.
nope, leaving C.C. was fine until he gave up the first 2 hits, no outs.
okay even keeping him in then was slightly understandable.
But bringing in aceves, a guy who gives up base hits, pitches to contact?
CMON.
not when he can bring in mariano!
that fucking walk to the midget killed the whole thing..
It’s pretty funny that we, as in us bloggers, can grasp the whole bring in your best releiver in the most important time of that game no matter what late inning it is, but the people who are paid, aka the managers, are seemingly oblivious to it.
PHIL COKE FUCKIN SUCKS FUCK THIS SHIT
excpt he did well.
I knoww, I was mocking the outrage expressed by all the dbags here
I should have know…the over sarcastic CAPS and you’re not lanny/bo/axl/etc.
we got this. we got it.
I’m with you
Look nobody here is upset with leaving CC to start the 8th because of the current bullpen.
Granted Bruney coming back should help some, but he isnt the mosr durable pitcher in the world.
im upset sorry, the bullpen has been halfway decent recently and you just cant put CC out with that many pitches… not only for this game but for the rest of the season as he has pitched way above his career average pitches per game this year and he will be with the team (hopefully) for 7 years, you just cant risk him and you have to rely on the pen
another round of magic required. please.
top of the lineup and nothing would be sweeter than getting some funs off his ass!
Top of the order we need this game yanks.
Its only one run. C’mon DJ, Damon, and Tex!!!!!! Save Girardi’s arse!
*runs
Know who would have been a great option? Phil Hughes
He pitched yesterday. They won’t bring him in.
and you called me unintelligent.
Sweeps happen, Yanks can gain two cames back in the next two days. Too soon to start freaking. This is not the NFL.
Frustrating. I think what is the worst part is CC gave the team exactly what they needed through 7 and poor bullpen management is going to make a blow opportunity the story. Barring a comeback.
Nolan Ryan a Free Agent?
TJ with the usual babble. long season blah blah blah.
that is true what about swishers 2 moroninc baserunning mistakes the last 2 games… no big deal?
How about there lack of clutch hitting? Minor blip..
How about 0 and 8 against 1 team??? Means nothing…
How about Cano never getting a big hit??? Minor issue……..
BULLsh-t………
Oh shut up. You want this team to be bad? Go to the Red Sox bandwagon. I’m sick of this.
how does he not have every right to complain about those things?
you just posted the same exact thing like 10 comments up , we all saw it the first time.
i didn’t know that part.
Yeah they’re a .500 team and 10 games behind 1st
I wish we had some bp pitchers that we could trust. There aren’t ANY!!
Except for Mo…
Are we Joba to teh 8th!!?!?@!@!##! yet????
we’re winning this game
come on captain!
No, we’re fucking not
Nice confidence for your team.
go away…please…just leave. you’re not a fan.
Both teams will probably make the playoffs, this will be decided in October.
PEople who keep complaining about everyone being mad at Girardi there are the ones who should shut the fuck up. HE is just an awful manager, with a terrible feel for the game.
*golf clap*
That is something I disagree with but he has made two boneheaded calls in the last two games.
its not his fault his Bpen cant perform, CC was coming out one way or another.
no, you’re wrong
we have the top of the order up, FIND A WAY TO grind out AT LEAST 1 damn run in this inning
There is another case that supports Bill James’ closer argument.
Come on Yanks if the mets could come back against ya we could to.
Good AB’s. That’s all i ask for.
the captain needs to show why he’s the captain right here.
The NFL mentality her is bit histrionic. Some here might be Raider fans.
I PH Posada for Damon
That’s crazy talk.
Obviously Joe didn’t want him for 6 outs, nor 5.
Last night I said I would give my left hand for a win against Papelbon. Tonight I offer both of my hands.
can u fit luck in your pocket?
1 Bad AB
what the HELL was that jeter? ANOTHER WEAK HACK GROUNDER?! WHAT THE FUCK
BigBlueAL:
Same thing with A.J.Burnett.He once pitched 7 strong innings giving up 3 runs. Then because of the pen went out in the 8th and gave up a hit and a walk and the bullpen came in and gave up the two runs.
So a strong performance of 7 innings became a bad start because of the pen.If pitching the 8th innings is so easy I wonder why none of these pitchers can do it.
I never knew Green was actually a white version of Ozzie Smith
A full white version of Jeter
Sheffield’d
what did i say we wont even get a fucking hit!
1-0 pitch, swings away and hits a pussy chopper up the middle. Nice AB.
Nick Green > Jeter………..In this series anyway.lol.
wow we cant get a fuckin break..nick green is getting big hits & making big plays
Never thought I would see a Yankee team be Boston’s bitch. Stunning.
Tomorrow Fatcessa will demand the Yankees trade for Bronson Arroyo and move Joba to the bullpen. Will not be listening to WFAN tomorrow.
ugh
That’s it folks. 2 games back.
FUCK THIS TEAM!
and fuck you too. go root for the redsox you badwagon fuck.
It’ll be ok, his shoulder’s due to explode soon.
I trust Teix.
Comes down to Teixeira. . .
Tex one of ur biggest at bat of the season please take him deep.
Save us Teix.
I have never felt like this. I feel like sobbing.
dude its baseball in june
Please tell me you’ve watched a season of baseball before.
This is worse than 2004? I highly doubt it.
Odd, but that’s baseball. I’m not thrilled with a sweep, but they can’t win every series, baseball is a game of streaks both hot and cold.
WHAT THE FUCK? That pitch was so ridiculously framed, and it’s called a strike.
just get on base here Teix.
Work it Teixeira … keep this inning alive.
JESUS CHRIST KAY WE KNOW
Thank you sir may I have another?
I am freaking happy the Yanks do not have to see this team until August 6th.
The Yankees have no answers for this team right now.None.
They are the Yankees DADDY !!
Now the Yanks can lick their wounds agaisnt the Mets and Nats.
PATHETIC !!!!!!!!
You’re a pathetic Yankee fan whos going to be jumping up and down in october, i told you they’d win! i told you they’d win!
This is the kind of game that could convert you to B-Jobberism. So painful
If Joba pitched the 8th Yanks win. Bottom line. Well that is what Francesa will say tomorrow.
Joba couldn’t hold a one run lead in a pivotal playoff game, clearly he doesn’t have the stomach to be a big-time relief pitcher!
(I kid, but I’m surprised that that’s not the meme from the media, rather than “Joba must be in the pen!”)
Wowsers, that one killed.
Well, Tex did his job. DFA everyone else, please.
un fucking real.
Get out of here
fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
I hate these umpires. Pure and simple, it’s tough to win games when your opponents get an extra foot on the strike zone than you do.
the zone early on was working for Penny but CC got some wide calls too
Sorry this is not on the umpires. Yankees got out played, out pitched and out coached.
“We suck”
They sucked this 3 game series.
Yankees have a better rotation ERA, better line up, and scored how many runs off their unhittable bullpen?
just out of control. this is ridiculous.
This team is going to lose 2 of 3 to the Mets. This will effect them.
I’ll bet you a cheapo baseball reference sponsorship that that will not be the case. Deal?
what is cheapo baseball? Then I may agree.
http://www.baseball-reference......hips.shtml
I love it when “true fans” predict the yankees losing.
Whatever dude. Look at how dejected the team is. No amount of slobbering is going to change the fact that they are owned by the Sox and are in a funk. Plus, their pitching is struggling and they seem to have fallen into that “can’t hit with RISP” again.
‘Ol well.
Fuck.
Well…2 games out with 101 to play. I’ll take it.
i think that is a reasonable comment, i agree.
In, Fucking, Credible.
Kill yourself, yanks are a whopping 2 games behind!!!
This weekend should be interesting. A battle of 2 teams coming off tough series losses against the teams in their division who owns them like little bitches.
i think the Mets were 4-1 against the Phils this year up to this series. not in the same bitch situation the Yankees are in
Why this lost sucks ass. This is the first series with a completely healthy team. Oh wait our BP still is without it’s best 2 arms. I do blame girardi. You need to take c.c out after the midget. He was all over the place and was gassed.
I think once green got the single CC needed to come out. No reason to put a tired pitcher or a relief pitcher in a 2 on no out situation
FUCK GIARDI, FUCK ACEVES, FUCK CASHMAN, FUCK JETER, FUCK, DAMON, FUCK SWISHER, FUCK THEM ALL! I AM NOT WATCHING A SINGLE FUCKING GAME THIS WEEKEND, THEY CAN SUCK MY ASS!
there’s a true fan right there
!!!!!1!!1111!! I demand a divorce!!1!1!!
i guess the only thing left to say is go get’em tomorrow
LOL, you kids are cute… Yankees losing to the Red Sox in June is SOOOOO important. Go out and get drunk and laid… Freakin’ pansies.
+1000000
Exactly, shoot yourselves do us a favor for christ’s sake.
Tough to watch. Tough to listen to sox fans tomorrow at work, but we got a lot of season to go.
I am now considering becoming a B-Jobber
Sorry. This loss pisses me off. Not nearly as much as everyone else. Sort of funny watching all these people line up to jump off the Brooklyn Bridge. Tons of baseball left folks.
im going to sleep this one really hurts.
On the bright side…remember 2004.
Bright side? I’d say this might be worse.
How in the world could this be worse?
Well, it would be great to re-live that from the Red Sox’ standpoint.
Jesus, ESPN already has the Red Sox win posted…it just gets worse by the day.
I can imagine it…”Hey! We have a 6 game lead in the division!”
I’m not even angry. Or sick. Just sad.
At least I got a cool new Palm Pre.
dude! Best comment of the night. do you like it?
Sick as hell so far bro. Only had it for a few hours though.
Should we think about putting Joba in the bullpen? DAMMIT I’m out of sorts. But should we?
Then sign Roger Clemens to a 1 year $500M deal.
ha ha
I agree we NEED a better bullpen. Either put Joba there or make a trade BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!
No. This series looks drastically different if Joba pitches a game; no doubt he would have pitched better than either Wang or Burnett.
I can not believe this. The Yankees were cruising all season, but suck against the Red Sox. WTF
Also Michael Kay just made me feel worse with his commentary after the game, but he is just saying what we are thinking. Thanks for pushing that knife deeper in my heart Kay.
0-8.
The offense needs a lift. We should’ve knocked Penny out the game. The ‘pen needs an eight inning man. Confidence level definitely took a hit.
We just need to get more clutch. So many wasted opportunities while the Red Sox used all of their opportunities.
The bullpen will get Marte and Bruney so I am not that worried.
The lack of clutch hitting is astounding though. We can hit no problem until someone goes to second base.
Thank God MARTE coming back. He will definitely be the rock of the bullpen. He will be (and has been) as inconsistent as the rest of them.
Look at his career #s. he has been. he’s been injured.
Both this year and last year?
Remember he gave up a game winning jack at Fenway too.
His shoulder issue dates back to the WBC and he gave up 4 of his 11 runs in one appearance last year
I may be a little bias because I was at that game. He just just throwing BP
If they can hang in and return to form, the only thing these losses will have an impact on is a potential division tie. If it comes down to that, we’re screwed. But with 100 games to go, I’ll take my chances that we can do it without beating the Sawx.
ehh it is june, but it still sucks
Cashman must fix this bullpen immediately!!!….No bjobber foolishness either. We’re probably going to have to raid our farm system to fix this disaster thru trades.
Or we can call up Melancon in August and wait soon for the return of Bruney and Marte.
But hey I agree no BS B-jobber shit.
agreed
Bruney will be a great addition….Melancon is getting hit some and seems to be having periods of wildness SWB …..Marte can’t be sure of what we get!!
If the BP gets fixed we have the best team in baseball!!!Even without a better BP we still make the playoffs.
Not the end of the world but it’s definately going to hurt the team mentally. I can’t see how people can act like these losses don’t matter…
I blame it on the Curse of Big Papi’s jersey.
Well, “Red Sox are our Daddys”
they started winning after Pedro said that famous quote. I’m gonna say that everyday from now on until the Yankees turn it around.
Yes. That will do it, I have no doubt.
I know throwing strength isn’t as important as range in the outfield, but seriously we have some awful arms out there. (except Melky)
yankees versus mets. somehow, the red sox will sweep that series as well
I chuckled.
Joba Tomorrow. That is all.
The Red Sox are a flat-out better team than the Yankees in every facet of the game.
Not really, we just are playing like Low-A Charleston
I could argue the opposite but I’m too depressed right now to right an informative comment.
we pitched poorly, sloppy defense & baserunning & poor hitting with RISP…the red sox are a VERY GOOD team but we sure gave them a hand in beating us.
lol, keep dreaming
That made me LOL.
Thanks.
In baseball, things even out. Yankees will lose as many close games as win them. Yankees will win a bunch of games against Boston now that they have lost a bunch of games. Those wins are like money in the bank.
Poignant GM commercial.
Yanks too need to get down to business.
Edwar+Albaladejo today, 5.2 innings, 0 ER, 7k’s
bring them back up huh?
Swisher needs a crash-course in running bases and catching fly balls. It sucks that guys make complete mental lapses that could cost the team a run or two or ten. Swisher looks ridiculous with that mohawk, he also looks ridiculous out on the diamond and in the field.
if not for the 2 bad starts from Burnett and Wang, the bullpen may have been better. Hughes, Robertson…. one thing always leads to another.
Injuries will also matter in the long run, no telling who could go out, on either team and under what circumstance. Tampa could get hot and blow both away and the WC could go to another division. Both Bostan and NY could miss the playoffs and all this crying would be for nothing.
That Ass hole Swisher.
Ill take the Losses now as along as the Ws come in october.
Well, i’m going to vent here.
keeping C.C. to start the 8th was fine, i would have done the same.
now, after he gave the first 2 hits and he came to the mound, u shouldnt go back and keep him in, but even then its SLIGHTLY understandable
so he takes him out after the drew single.
Actually he as 24 STRIKE OUTS IN 24 INNINGS. SO HE IS A STRIKE OUT PITCHER OUT OF THE PEN. AHHH LOUD NOISES!!!
lol dude, stats lie. You and i BOTH know he’s a strikeout pitcher
not* lol
yes we do know he is a strike out pitcher.
Alf has 24k in 24.1 IP.
Two problems with this:
1) It’s a little early for the Rockies to be selling
2) Street is good, but he’s not that good.
3. He’s pitched in OAK/COL, not exactly NYY
4. As always, what are you prepared to give up?
doesn’t read like you’re totally against the idea.
Agreed
If they want Kontos, sure. If they want Z-Mac, hell no.
And that’s where we differ Matt.
I would give up Zach McAllister. Cashman kept Hughes exactly for this scenario … to utilize young rising talent like McAllister in trades that could bring the Yanks over the top.
I don’t think 2/3 a season of Huston Street is worth 6+ controlled seasons of a potential #2.
But, I will say this, Reggie, I wouldn’t be devastated if the trade was made. I’d be a little annoyed, but I could live with it.
Who ever called Z McAllister a #2? The same people who said IPK was?
Can we start up a “how good do i feel about the future of this organization” poll right now? lol
Pretty sad that we play three important games against our biggest rival and we don’t even get Mariano in for a single at bat! UGH!
So the Yankees enetered Tuesday with the best record in the AL and a one-game lead in the division. After three losses they are ‘pathetic losers’ and the manager should be fired. Yankees fans are teh awesome!1!!1!!
No no no, I don’t want Girardi fired, I want everyone whose last names aren’t “Teixeira” or “Rivera” DFAed.
Dude I’m a big believer in the regular season being a long journey but this is different. This hurts.
Only an untrue Yankee fan would write something like that, Jamal.
Opps I didn’t want to post there- my b
+?
That was supposed to be a + infinity.
yankee brothers just relax i would prefer lose all 18 games to the red sox as long as we win the world series.I REALLY MEAN IT.
Unfortunately the Al title will probably run through Boston.
Why didn’t we fkng sign Daniel Bard ? Its Openheimer’s fault, we don’t have anyone decent in the bullpen.
we need to end this fucking soft tosser experiment and get hard throwers back up here.
Melancon?
Robertson should DEFINITELY be considered for a higher role.
Who else do we have that can strike people out?
Robertson should DEFINITELY be considered for a higher role.
+594
Aceves and his nearly 9 K/9 rate coming into today’s game. Oh, but he doesn’t throw 95 so that doesn’t count, right?
Good point!
yeah, stats lie. Veras had a good era last year.
Look at his minor league track record. and last year he had 30 IP 16 K’s
That has nothing to do with anything. Fact of the matter is Aceves has more K’s than you think.
Having K’s and being a shutdown late inning pitcher aren’t the same thing. Aceves is a good swingman. He’s not a pure set up man with great swing n miss stuff.
The yankees will win number 27 this year and you can take it to the bank the red sox wont even make the playoff and you can take it to the bank.
Who will then win the wild card. ALCS preview Yanks vs. Boston- Battle Royale
Time to evaluate the bull pen veras must go as well as coke
why should coke go? he’s our best lefty…
cash needs to figure something out soon.
coke is not the problem at all. he’s not our best lefty reliever either, he’s our ONLY one.
Aceves is a decent long man, but he is NOT Ramiro Mendoza
agreed.
Is this a record for most posts on 1 single thread?
Definitely- it is taking my computer forever to load
I have a 15 second delay when typing!
No – Now it’s a record.
I need Hal Steinbrenner to issue an ultimatum
Why? Honestly, what good is that going to do? It’s not the front office’s fault that Girardi botched two situations in the last two games (last night’s sac bunt and today’s non-use of Mo).
It’s not for any specific reason, it would just make me feel better. It would make me laugh.
And guess what? We will all watch tomorrow.
658 posts to this thread. I think Ben, Joe and Mike were so disgusted, they all tossed their computers and can’t open a new thread. I’m leaving. This is too painfully slow.
Would be awesome to hear something from George right about now. Miss that guy.
Dunn now has 49 strikeouts in 36 innings.
I rather put AAA Scranton out there than this team.- at least they have a bullpen
FUCK, JETER IS SO FUCKING COOL. We’re all about to jump off a bridge and when asked if he had any questions about the mental makeup of his club he answered “Nope” wit a smile.
I accidentally posted this some where else on the page
Some ideas for Girardi-
1. Get rid of Berroa- DFA his ass. Get Shelley up here with his power bat up here ASAP.
2. Get rid of Veras. Call up anyone, but get him away!!!!!!!!!
3. Put Hughes back in the rotation- I know Wang is a FORMER 19 game winner, but we want to win NOW.
4. Teach your teams the basics like running and defense.
A side note to Cashmen
1. Get a reliever- trade McAllister or some other prospects.
Girardi can’t do those first 2, that’s Cash’s job. But no, don’t trade McAllister. Everything else i agree
man, whoever’s been posting on the RAB twitter needs to take a chill pill.
Never in my wildest dreams could I imagine the Yanks not being able to score vs Brad Penny
it isn’t hard to fix what’s wrong.
LOL. Yeah, that’s why we’re 0-8 against Boston. Because Angel Berrora is occupying the all-important 25th man slot.
NOW YOU SEE THE REASON WHITE SOX GOT RID OF SWISHER
I can’t imagine what Ozzie Guillen was thinking when he wud make those ridiculous blunders.
BRING UP JACKSON ORDUNCAN BENCH SWISHER FOR A while .
lanny good suggestions time for cshman to shake things up.
we should go after halliday next year
This is REAL BAD.
You really just need to find a bridge to jump off already.
but i vowed never to do that until you had a daughter and i slept with her on her 16th birthday…
i want to kill myself after that game
