Does it matter? As long as he devastates then I really am not one to care about velocity.
Anyways if you’re not comfortable then here. http://www.google.com/
Right I completely forgot. CC = Joba. CC’s start today = Joba’s last start
CC is atrocious today giving up 10 runs. It must be because his velocity is down.
Nice red herring =/
And again way to completely misunderstand what I am talking about. Apparently reading comprehension isn’t a strong point…
CC is great today. Therefore I do not care what his velocity is because his control is good. Joba does not have good control. I never said velocity is nothing but you’re thinking velocity is everything. Control > velocity
So 1 or 2 MPH that is off makes no concern to me. Apparently it is a cause of the end of the world for you.
Probably best to get the data from the (unofficial) PitchFX tool, although I don’t know if this one adjusts for park. Gameday had him at 94-95 all day.
I wouldn’t worry about CC too much unless he looks really off.
i dont understand why some people discredit gardner’s slg because of his speed. isn’t slg a measure of how far you get yourself on base per at bat? speed may inflate those numbers, but that should be justified because speed is gardy’s game. if anything, the increase in SLG because of his speed should be a good measure of how effective gardner’s speed is. should slower players’ slg #s be looked more favorably because some of their singles could be doubles, and some doubles can be triples?
i’d take a runner on 3rd anyday over a runner on 2nd.
this post was actually responding to what you wrote. slg may be a good approximation of how hard you hit the ball, but what it actually measures is how far you get yourself on the bases per AB. gardy, inarguably, does a good job of advancing himself on base with his speed.
Since May 1st the Yankees pen has a better ERA, Whip, K/9, K/BB than the Sox bullpen. Pretty crazy, considering one is the worst pen of all time, and the other is the best.
Because he lies. The Yankees will always have the worst bullpen based on their April stats. The Red Sox will always have the best bullpen because they have a 0.00 ERA. If Joba were in the bullpen then maybe our bullpen can go toe to toe.
I was just reading a comment made by The Artist on the other thread. Did Cone really say “No relation to Vida Guerra” in regard to Deolis Guerra? That’s too good.
Nikhil Ramakrishna. I was actually born right here in NJ. My parents are from India (South India from a state called Karnataka). And yes you did spell Rao correctly.
Olney runs through more suitors: the Red Sox, who have “stubbornly clung to their young pitching,” the Mets and Cubs, who may or may not have the proper package of prospects, Yankees, and the Phillies
MLB.com’s Jordan Bastian has a source that says over a dozen teams have asked about Halladay, with the most serious interest expressed by the Cardinals, Yankees, Mets, Brewers, Dodgers, Angels and Red Sox.
Careful what you ask for about playing the Twinkies every day…
Can we play RA Dickey every day?
Now the statement is corrected.
Yes, because someday we’d have to face Daniel Bard on a regular basis.
Remember what happened when we swept the series against the Indians in 2007 and then got booted by them in the first round. Wasn’t fun.
I don’t know what CC thinks he’s doing by pitching like he is right now. He should start pitching to the score.
He’s certainly no Jack Morris
We can mix in a few games against the Mets as well.
We can mix in a few games against the
MetsAAA + David Wright Mets as well.Fixed.
So all I have to do is ask “Lots of runs, please,” and the Yankees will deliver? Sheesh.
Better make sure to ask tomorrow.
You also said Teixeira would hit one otu…
I know A-rod loves the twins, even though he got robbed of a Slam but he kills them.
No run CC!!! I want our run differential to improve.
It should’ve been 12-1 now!
I’m gettin greedy
Great Cone article from like 10 years ago.
http://nymag.com/nymetro/news/.....ures/2138/
He has a well earned reputation.
You know whats great? Looking up at the score and realizing they would need 2 grand slams and then some to tie it.
Baltimore did it without a grand slam.
Just sayin’
But Boston doesn’t have CC. Or Our bullpen
watching the Twins broadcast…CC really sitting at 93mph all game?
Does it matter? As long as he devastates then I really am not one to care about velocity.
Anyways if you’re not comfortable then here.
http://www.google.com/
being that you’re Joba…I would think you would care, given that since he’s lost his velocity, he’s lost much of his devastation
Right I completely forgot. CC = Joba. CC’s start today = Joba’s last start
CC is atrocious today giving up 10 runs. It must be because his velocity is down.
Nice red herring =/
not to mention that he was pulled w/ an injury 2 starts ago and now he’s down 3-4 mph…yea no biggie I suppose
well, last time he got bombed but had the best fastball of the season
And again way to completely misunderstand what I am talking about. Apparently reading comprehension isn’t a strong point…

And when the hell did I start talking about Joba? Where did that come from? Seriously?
I agree contol>velocity, just mildly concerned that his velocity was seemingly down
=/ You could have told me you were mildly concerned before my ranting. I thought it was a cause of concern but hey I need to learn to read first.
No. He’s been at 94, 95mph consistantly all night, as usual.
that’s good…they threw up a stat where his fastest was 93 on the Twins broadcast

wow, what a Awesome pic of Mauer and Morneau

Excellent point J. I was about to make a similar point about Gardner’s SLG.
Has anyone gotten on him about that? More XBH = higher SLG. Gardner may not do it with homers, but he’ll do it with doubles and the occasional triple.
SLG is a good approximation as to how hard you hit the ball. Gardner’s speed means that that is not necessarily the case.
So people don’t like it when their stats don’t tell them the whole story?
Nerds and their damn precious spreadsheets!

That’s going in my twitter feed.
You’d better H/T the VP of the Nick Swisher Fan Club on that one.
Very puzzling indeed.

I’m sure the stats don’t count. It’s all an illusion. They have the most grit and heart so their pen>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Every other pen combined.
That’s an arbitrary start date, you’re cherry-picking your stats there.
/Jayson Stark’d
Someone told me I was cherry picking my Monstero stats.
I hope you called them the douchebag they are!
Again, the big difference between the two pens is SLG against.
Boston has allowed .364, and the Yankees have .414.
The Sox pen has allowed 21 home runs, the Yankees pen, 44.
why is Girardi such an asswipe?!!!!
Uh, what?
Just logged on and see Aceves is starting Thursday and not Mitre!
Doesn’t he realize that we are going to Anaheim for the weekend and that it is always an adventure when we go out there?
Nice and crazzyoptical illusion

Maybe they should save some of these runs for when a lesser pitcher is on the hill?
I was just reading a comment made by The Artist on the other thread. Did Cone really say “No relation to Vida Guerra” in regard to Deolis Guerra? That’s too good.
Confirmed.
sorry this is random but where from India are you from, if you are from there?
One of my brother’s friends is named Nikhil Rao (sp). SO I’m kind of wondering if it’s the same dude.
You should ask him, though I guess it would be weird for you if he isn’t and weird for him if that is him.
And I believe Rao is spelled correctly.
Nikhil Ramakrishna. I was actually born right here in NJ. My parents are from India (South India from a state called Karnataka). And yes you did spell Rao correctly.
Great stuff from Coney!!!
I’d love to be related to Vida Guerra…can anyone say INCEST?
dude, that’s wrong.
me too but I’d want her to be my wife, not the way you’re thinking lol
god i come back from the rec center and we are up 10-1!
excellente!
pena would’ve turned that into an inside the park hr somehow.
yankees need to dfa ransom… now.
lol
GRIT GUTNER DOES IT AGAIN!
that name is something out of a comic book. awesome.
i love calling him that
wonder what Dickey’s limit is? 90 pitches? So he’s got one inning left?
I’d love to see opponents’ records the first game after a Yankee series…
Brett Gardner is my homeboy
this team is the shit.
but who will pitch the 9th?
Look at Tomko honkin’ up our run differential.
um not sure if this is allowed, but it seems a little slow today.
what package of players would you give up for halladay? not interested at all?
imagine a rotation of cc, halladay, burnett in a 7 game series.
What was Sterling’s call for Hinske’s HR yesterday?
just that he homered and nothin else
damn, I wanted that +9 more for the run differential!
God, the media hates the Yankees so much they’ll even take 4 wins away from us.
This from SI.com: The defending AL champion Rays trail the Red Sox by 5 1/2 games and the Yankees by one in the East standings.
well SI does have us ranked 3rd in the power rankings, so who cares. Eff the media. They can suck out collective sacks

I don’t think the Yanks will get Halladay so I hope the Jays trade him to the NL where we don’t have to face him anymore.
John Kruk is such a POS. That is all.
-Drew out.
yeah win
