CC is great today. Therefore I do not care what his velocity is because his control is good. Joba does not have good control. I never said velocity is nothing but you’re thinking velocity is everything. Control > velocity
So 1 or 2 MPH that is off makes no concern to me. Apparently it is a cause of the end of the world for you.

Probably best to get the data from the (unofficial) PitchFX tool, although I don’t know if this one adjusts for park. Gameday had him at 94-95 all day.
I wouldn’t worry about CC too much unless he looks really off.

i dont understand why some people discredit gardner’s slg because of his speed. isn’t slg a measure of how far you get yourself on base per at bat? speed may inflate those numbers, but that should be justified because speed is gardy’s game. if anything, the increase in SLG because of his speed should be a good measure of how effective gardner’s speed is. should slower players’ slg #s be looked more favorably because some of their singles could be doubles, and some doubles can be triples?
i’d take a runner on 3rd anyday over a runner on 2nd.
Excellent point J. I was about to make a similar point about Gardner’s SLG.
Has anyone gotten on him about that? More XBH = higher SLG. Gardner may not do it with homers, but he’ll do it with doubles and the occasional triple.
SLG is a good approximation as to how hard you hit the ball. Gardner’s speed means that that is not necessarily the case.
So people don’t like it when their stats don’t tell them the whole story?

this post was actually responding to what you wrote. slg may be a good approximation of how hard you hit the ball, but what it actually measures is how far you get yourself on the bases per AB. gardy, inarguably, does a good job of advancing himself on base with his speed.
Since May 1st the Yankees pen has a better ERA, Whip, K/9, K/BB than the Sox bullpen. Pretty crazy, considering one is the worst pen of all time, and the other is the best.

Because he lies. The Yankees will always have the worst bullpen based on their April stats. The Red Sox will always have the best bullpen because they have a 0.00 ERA. If Joba were in the bullpen then maybe our bullpen can go toe to toe.

Again, the big difference between the two pens is SLG against.
Boston has allowed .364, and the Yankees have .414.
The Sox pen has allowed 21 home runs, the Yankees pen, 44.
