• Drew

We’re screwed. We’ve never scored 6 runs in three innings. Turn the game off. Go get some lunch, the game is ova. You heard it here 5th.

    • Marcus

      IETC

  • Andy

This terrible job by ace can end Hughes rotation speculation

    • Chip

You really think one appearance by Ace is gonna change their plans with Hughes? I’d say Hughes to the rotation depends on if they can get somebody like Scott Downs anyway

    • Riddering

I hope Girardi and Cashman don’t make all their decisions based on 1/3 of an inning.

      • handtius

they do. they really do. They are just as short-sighted as some of the fans. that’s why any yankee fan could run the franchise.

        • Riddering

I disagree. I’ve read the comments on LoHud and LJ.

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

      It was one appearance. Relax.

      • Andy

All it means is they won’t put Hughes in rotation. They weren’t regardless of ace but today didn’t help

  • http://www.pinstripesplus.com ansky

cant win every game post all star, had to happen sometime. Chin up kids

  • Dorian

The next time in that situation Scott Downs will be coming in hopefully. :-)

    • cookie monster

      I hope so.

    • Drew

I’m perfectly happy with Ace coming in next time.

    • handtius

wow. shut up. like Ace hasn’t been dominate for us this year so far.

      • Dorian

I love Ace but don’t act like Scott Downs isn’t better than him.

    • Chip

Scott Downs pitches the 8th, he can’t hold a lead in the 7th!!!

  • Dorian

9 outs to get 5 runs? I like our chances.

  • Salty Buggah

Dang, Andy start went from very good to meh/kinda bad

But it’s OK, we were gonna lose one day. I just hope we dont fall off the cliff like last year after the 8 game winning streak.

  • Johan Iz My Brohan

Can somebody give 4 of those 6 runs to the A’s for the game yesterday, and the other 2 for some other game?

  • Riddering

Of course people are going to be dogging Ace.

Wasn’t it just two weeks ago that Andy and Joba were done for in the rotation?

  • Dela G

    nice job david

its only one game, you can’t win them all people

even the 2001 mariners lost 48 games

  • cookie monster

    pitch melancon please.

  • LiveFromNewYork

The minute the Yankees have a bad inning or even game or series, people are jumping off the roof. I FREAKING HATE THAT. It so reminds me of pre-2004 Red Sox fans.

    • cookie monster

      wow, you’re cool.

    • Jose

People always do that. People probably complained about the Yankees team back in 1927. Were you a fan of the Yankees during the 89-92 seasons? Those were some tough years.

      • LiveFromNewYork

Yes I was and yes it was.

  • James

Should bring in a strikeout pitcher when we need a strikeout…

    • cookie monster

Aceves came within one out of getting out of it. But yeah he’s mainly a contact pitcher and that caught up with him.

    • Drew

Should bring in a pop out pitcher when we need a pop out.

      • Salty Buggah

        Heh IETC

  • Salty Buggah

We all knew Ace was going to have a clunker one day. Why are all of these people bashing him now? I cannot believe he got booed. That is just simply horrible and that’s why Yanks fans get a bad reputation. They boo for every little thing.

    • LiveFromNewYork

They never used to. I find that to be atrocious behavior. Jerks.

    • cookie monster

I doubt Aceves cares about getting booed.

      • Andy

U boo bad performance. It’s part of the deal

        • cookie monster

I don’t disagree. Fans pay for their seats, they can do whatever they want.

          • Salty Buggah

So If I pay my taxes, I can do whatever I want in the US like stealing and speeding?

            • cookie monster

              Yeah, go ahead.

        • Salty Buggah

Ummm no you don’t boo anyone on the team you’re rooting for.

          • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

I’m fine with booing your own team in certain spots. But booing a guy who’s been lights out all year when the team has won 21 of their last 26 games is not one of those spots.

It just makes you sound spoiled. No wonder everyone hates the Yankees and their fans.

            • Salty Buggah

Yea, I mean if you’ve allowed like 6+ ER in 5 straight starts, go ahead. Or if you blow the game everytime, go ahead. I don’t think it is right but it is definitely understandable. But Ace has saved us from many losses this year. People forget that he had a 4-inning save and got us out bases loaded less than 2 outs jams many times before this year.

            • LiveFromNewYork

I would never do it but it’s occasionally, very occasionally (2004 occasionally) okay. But to do it to Ace who has been great or to do it to Arod when he’s in a slump is just rotten fan behavior. Very not okay. Sometimes fans get upset when players don’t take a curtain call or ignore them before/after the game. If people were only loving me when I was great even though I turned in good, sometimes great, performances, I would ignore them too.

  • Dela G

    HAHAHA MICHAEL KAY FAN CLUB

    • Riddering

I totally forgot we were losing when I saw that.

      Instant hilarity.

      • Dela G

that really made me laugh out loud

  • Dorian

I sincerely hope that this isn’t going to become the Hughes, Coke, and Mo show.

  • Andy

Making g Gonzalez look like Roy halladay

  • Riddering

Alright, Clutch-Rod. We need one of those five-run homers.

  • Dela G

    melkman gets on base

  • Drew

    PH for Ransom?

    • Drew

      Gratzie

    • Dela G

my mom could hit better than ransom

  • Dela G

this guy has the best strike out pitch in baseball

    its been recorded as such

    • Dela G

and al helps me out with that stat

  • Salty Buggah

damn, that could have been a walk.

How awesome would it be if we somehow come back to win this?

    • Riddering

More awesome than a ninja fighting a shark.

  • Dela G

well now i can go do some grocery shoppin

    • Dorian

I have learned the hard way that the Yankees are never out of the game. Melky’s second walkoff against Joe Nathan, I was in the liquor store.

  • Dorian

Chop it down to 6-4 and I like our chances in the 9th

    • Dorian

      6-4 game in the 8th

  • Salty Buggah

Hopefully, Melancon gets some work today if we dont get any runs. That would be nice. I want to see a 1-2-3 inning from him

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

I hope to see him too, but he hasn’t pitched in 15 days. There has to be some rust.

      • Salty Buggah

oh yea I know but it would be nice that despite the rust, he pitches a 1-2-3 inning. D-rob was rusty last night, but is good so far today, low-leverage situation or not.

    • Drew

I’m good with either Mel or Bruney

  • Riddering

Gardner’s my player of the game. I love those legs.

  • Dorian

    Anddddddddddddddd now we’re cooking.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

The Yankees are unimpressed by Michael Wuertz’s unhittable slider.

    • Steve O.

Somewhere, one tear is rolling dowm TSJC’s face. Pansy.

      /Ironhorse’d

    • Jose

Jeter and Tex both homered on fastballs. The slider to Swisher just happened to dunk in. Only Posada got good contact on one of his sliders.

      • Andy

        Wuertz is not good

        • Steve O.

No, Wuertz is actually really good. Just got hit a little hard that inning.

        • Jose

Wuertz has a 1.6 WAR this season. Alfredo Aceves, Phil Hughes and Phil Coke combined come in at a 1.6 WAR.

  • Drew

    Swisha house or swisha pass

  • Drew

    Yankee Gods say hello

    • Drew

      *Ghosts lol

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

    Tying run to the plate.

    • Brazilian Yankee

Too bad it’s Cano with a runner in scoring position.

Let’s hope he can come through, he’s so due.

  • Salty Buggah

nice Swisher…cmon Robbie, a big HR here and all of your failures with RISP will be forgiven

  • Steve O.

    Don’t ya know!!!

  • Drew

Why are those little girls shadow boxing

  • Riddering

Cano, just get a hit. Any hit.

    A universe depends on you!

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Fuck you for getting me excited Michael Kay.

  • GG

    aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • Salty Buggah

    Robbie with RISP still horrendous…

  • Drew

Almost a game tying hr? Didn’t make the warning track, ass.

  • DGeezy

im still so baffled at how cano can keep making outs just about every time up with RISP

  • Riddering

I look away and Michael Kay makes me piss my pants for nothing.

Kay, you owe me a new pair of pants.

  • GG

    Shutout inning by Mariano
    Melky gets on
    Hinskenator ties it up

    • Steve O.

No way the Yanks bring in Mo when they’re down.

    • GG

Except the firt part will be Bruney

  • Andy

Cano is the pitts with runners on

    • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

It’s “pits”, unless there is a clever Pirates reference in there that I am missing.

  • Drew

    brune time

  • Brazilian Yankee

I guess we’ll have to score 3 more in the next inning..

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Why not Melancon? Give me a good reason.

    • Drew

      really? This is Bruney’s spot.

    • Salty Buggah

Idk but I think Girardi doesnt want to use Mo and he thinks we can come back and apparently bruney is more reliable so he gives us a better chance to hold the score right there.

    • handtius

I think Bruney gives us a better chance at a come back, considering Melancon hasn’t pitched since before the wheel was invented.

  • Salty Buggah

    OK, I dont mind Bruney

  • Dorian

Melky, Damon, and Posada in the 9th

  • Andy

Send melancon back if ur not going to use him

    • Brazilian Yankee

They are probably going to, when they bring back Marte.

  • Salty Buggah

well, Bruney got 2 K’s like last time. Let’s see what he does now. He is kinda throwing high.

    • ShuutoHeat

      here we go……

    • Salty Buggah

Alright I’ll take it but he was throwing everything high in the zone

    • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

He struck out the second batter with a high fastball and got a swinging strike with the same pitch on the first batter. I think Powell and the last guy weren’t biting on it.

  • Drew

    Me likes me some Bruney.

  • yankeefan91 Arod fan

    come on yanks.

  • Dorian

    WHO WANT’S PIE!!!!!!

    • handtius

      Hair Pie!!!

  • Drew

  • yankeefan91 Arod fan

This is what happens when guys used to being 1 inning closers have to finish the 8th.

  • Salty Buggah

    • Esteban

      woops

    • Steve O.

Way to jinx it, Salty. If that’s your real name.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Jays blew a nine run lead to Tampa.

    • Jose

Scott Downs with another 2 runs.

    • Zach

gave up 8 runs in the final 3 innings

    • Bob Stone

Eight run lead – It was 9-1 after the bottom of the sixth. But who’s counting. Nice comeback by the Rays. Wish it were us instead though.

  • Salty Buggah

Holy Fuck! Rays came back to tie it at 9! Weren’t they down like 8 runs or something

    • Salty Buggah

      *9

      • Bob Stone

        *8

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

    Buzzkill.

  • V

It still boggles my mind how it’s even possible to be as slow as Posada.

  • Salty Buggah

wow bad DP Jorge! just horrible

  • Andy

    Dp. Sucks

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

    Damn.

    dammit :(

  • http://www.facebook.com/dougchu Doug

    Oh well.

  • Drew

    oh shat.

  • Salty Buggah

DAMN! Oh well, so close! we showed a lot of fight at least

  • Drew

If only AP could’ve finished the 7th..

  • Andy

    Blame ace for this

    • Drew

uh, sometimes you lose. You don’t have to “blame” anyone.

    • Salty Buggah

NO, you blame everyone. The offense had a chance in the 8th and the 9th. Andy didn’t have to implode.

      • Johan Iz My Brohan

I blame the front office, players, scouts and medical staff for this lose!

        -mets’d

        • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

This front office is an embarrassment.

        • Esteban

          Someone must be held accountable!!!!1

        • Salty Buggah

          hehe yea

But seriously, you win together and lose together.

  • Riddering

    It’s gotta happen sometime.

So this just means we’ll save our next sweep for Tampa.

  • Salty Buggah

    Ace’s 2 extra runs kinda hurt now…

    Cmon Jays, win it.

  • Dela G

    great comeback

    lets get em tomorrow

  • Dorian

    Phil Hughes available=Yankees Dub

    • Dela G

he wasn’t available per mike kay

  • Tom Zig

8 wins in a row is a good streak. we probably sent out one of our worst line ups and still scored 4 and brought the winning run to the plate in the 9th.

Back at it tomorrow. We have guaranteed ourselves at least an 8-2 homestand, which is awesome.

    • Salty Buggah

      yea, and 8-2 is awesome

      • Zach

yeah, still this game is still a bummer though. i had to leave in the 4th inning and Andy seemed pretty much in control, I come back in the 8th and its 6-1 and wtf, then i have to listen to sterling’s “win or lose, this team always batttles back, they might come up short but they battle back” nonsense in the 8th inning. then 2 guys on with 0 outs and DP (Cervelli wouldnt have hit a DP there- kidding)

not blaming anyone, but it was a let down after the 8th and start of the 9th.

        • Salty Buggah

I’m actually not feeling all that bad. Our bats were mostly quiet all day and then we needed a rally, we got hot and showed a lot of fight. That was very encouraging. We got a few bad breaks like Ace’s unusual clunker and the DP but we never gave up. It is dissapointing that we lost after Andy was lights outs. But once he and Ace combined to implode, many people gave up hope. Yet, we almost did the amazing again and that put me in a good mood.

  • LiveFromNewYork

This is a good team and we didn’t even field our A team and came very close. I am perturbed over booing Ace. Yes, it’s nice to win when you’re at the park, esp when the team has been hot but I’ve stayed there clapping in the 9th during blowouts (when we were on the losing end). Support the team.

Live by the team, die by the team mfers. Doncha know.
