Game 104: In which we discuss how much I hate FOX games
ByAs if it wasn’t bad enough that the Yankees have already lost the first two games of the series in a fashion best described as “ugly,” today’s game will be broadcast on FOX! I can hear all the “Ozzie’s team plays the game the right way,” and the “the Yankees offense has been propped up by that little league ballpark,” and the “CC Sabathia has not been as good as expected” references now. It’s always Trash the Yankees Day whenever it’s a nationally televised game, and for whatever reason they always seem to lose.
Bah, mini-rant over. Anyway, here’s the strange lineup for this afternoon. Try to enjoy the game between FOX’s holier than thou rants.

So the guy in the last thread was saying that we don’t have a high AVG as a team so we won’t win the World series. I asked what our AVG should be but I havent gotten a reply yet. I was hoping for an absurd answer like anything between .285 to .300 or something.
I wanted to say the Philles won the WS despite having the 23rd AVG (.255) in the Majors last year. We have the 2nd best (.276). Some people are just funny…and don’t know what they’re talking about.

You know, every time Cody Ransom gets a start, everyone bitches and moans about how awful it is, and yet every time Cody Ransom gets a start he produces well and makes numerous good plays every game.
He’s made appearances in 5 games since the ASB and is batting .429/.556/.857 in the 9 post ASB plate appearances.
I’m just saying.

I don’t mind Ransom. I don’t want to see him play more than once a week…but that’s me. I’m not in love with Ransom AND Hairston in the same game, that I personally believe to be an important one. That’s all. The Yankees have not looked good and I would like to see their A lineup out their to try and get a win to salvage the series and get back on the right track.
I understand the need to rest players. But I don’t think this game is the most expedient time. Matsui has a .913 OPS vs lefties this season. I don’t think it would kill him to be in the lineup today either.
I do rant about small sample sizes.
Which is why I’m not concerned about Ransom and Hairston both starting together, because it’s just one game. Anything can happen in that small sample size.
And, whether it’s good or bad, it’s just still a small sample.
And 70 percent of the time it works…every time.
You know what sucks? Living in California, having the Dodgers on the Fox game instead, and MLB Extra Innings not carrying the Yanks game.
Looks like it’s yard-work for me instead of drinking High Lifes all afternoon long…
