Is it bad that the guy on the Stop Smoking commercial reminds me of snuffaluffagus?

    • http://anewfrontier.wordpress.com Pablo Zevallos

      IETC

  • Moshe Mandel

That’s a positive outing for Andy. Looked pretty good.

      I think http://twitter.com/bkabak disagrees.

      • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

There’s all sorts of interesting things in that Kabak twitterfeed, eh?

Yeah, nobody puts me to shame!!! lol

      • Moshe Mandel

Not sure why. 7 baserunners in 6 innings, 4 of those in the 1st.

  • JGS

    Bruney?

    • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

All I can think of with that 99 is Turk Wendell.

      • JGS

        oh Turk the Jerk

        not Manny?

        • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

Eh, Manny’s still #24 in my mind. It’s burned into my brain that way; a year in LA isn’t enough to undo that.

    • Keanu Reeves

Um…has he always sported good ‘ol #99? I seem to remember him w/ a number in the 50’s…

      • JGS

        I thought he was 38

        • Keanu Reeves

You probably know better than I.

          • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside
            • JGS

              nice link

              yup, 38

              which is now Ian Kennedy’s

Representative of how close we’re getting to the postseason. Before this night is over, that picture will be so close to Yogi’s back we’ll be able to smell his sweat.

  • aj

Ur Yankees you date models! He’s Jersey he skiis in his jeans…its Saunders JOE saunders!

  • Dela G

    aight cmon bruney

    please?

  • Accent Shallow

At least Saunders isn’t getting a CGSHO.

That would drive me to drink. Nice of Andy to do the bare minimum quality start that crotchety writers are always railing against.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

I don’t think anyone’s buying a Brian Bruney jersey, Mike.

    • Moshe Mandel

I love how Kenny chuckled when he said that.

  • Dela G

Kay no one on earth has a bruney jersey

not even his family members… haha

    • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

They all went out and bought #33 jerseys. They tell him it’s because it’s the number he wore when he first came up, but they tell everyone else it’s a Nick Swisher jersey.

  • aj

How many people got screwed with Kobe Bryant changing to number 24..

    • Dela G

      i was one of them

  • Dela G

    damn what an awesome play

  • aj

    lol holy crap

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

That was so fucking awesome. The Yankees’ luck is most definitely changing.

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

      Nevermind.

    • Moshe Mandel

      Or not.

  • Accent Shallow

    Kick save and a beaut.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Aceves hasn’t pitched in seven days and I’d like to know why.

    • Dela G

      he’ll prolly piggy back gaudin

      • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Josh Towers can do that. So can Ian Kennedy, Edwar Ramirez, Jon Albaladejo, Mark Melancon…

        • Zack

its not like Ace has been very good post ASB. maybe they’re giving his shoulder/back extended rest

    • Lanny

Hes probably got a sore shoulder. Its the Yankees. dont listen to what they say. listen to how they act.

  • aj

The argentina national soccer team could use a decent player, Bruney?

    • http://anewfrontier.wordpress.com Pablo Zevallos

Well-done. Maradona as HC = FAIL

Argentina is on the bubble behind…ECuador!

  • handtius

Nice play by brune. Hope he’s got that, later era wild thing going.

  • Dela G

    wow he murdered that ball

    fucking a

  • aj

    Get a new number douchebag.

  • Accent Shallow

    Well, that sucked.

  • JGS

    fuck

  • Salty Buggah

    damn you Tex’s replacement

  • Tank the Frank

Nice outing for Andy. Didn’t seem to be in a groove in the 1st but that’s to be expected. Velocity was more or less where it should be. Made a bad pitch to Aybar with Alex in at 3rd.

  • http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v21/riddering/Baseball/reachforthestaaaaars.jpg Riddering

Bruney gives and then Bruney kicks you in the kidneys until you pee blood for a week.

  • Reggie C.

    BRUNEY’S BACK !!!llll

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

I’m not the only one who thinks setting off fireworks after every home run is eternally lame, right?

    • JGS

      no, you are not

    • aj

      No you’re not it’s ridiculous.

    • http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v21/riddering/Baseball/reachforthestaaaaars.jpg Riddering

      Especially in the American League.

    • handtius

      very.

    • Zack

      its horrible.

    • aj

not as bad at Shea Stadium having bring your dog to the game day. That worked well. Dogs fighting, crap and urine everywhere, ppl getting sick from the fur.

      • MikeD

…and those represented some of the “better” things at Shea Stadium.

    • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

It’s Anaheim. They have Disney there. ‘Splains everything.

    • http://image.guardian.co.uk/sys-images/Arts/Arts_/Pictures/2008/07/23/rose460.jpg makavelli

Would you rather the fireworks or the apple popping out every time?

      • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

        Neither.

  • handtius

    damn.

  • Accent Shallow

And I don’t know what’s wrong with Bruney, but I hate it.

I also hate that it looks like they’re gonna lose a game where they held Kendrick hitless.

  • cjc

and thats what you get for using him in a 2 run game

  • http://image.guardian.co.uk/sys-images/Arts/Arts_/Pictures/2008/07/23/rose460.jpg makavelli

Kendry Morales was certainly a nice later draft pick on my part on a lighter note lol

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

It’s okay, Aceves needs his rest.

  • Keanu Reeves

I vote Bruney does’t make the postseason roster.

    • aj

Who do you want instead? Skin and Bones ? (Edwar Ramirez)

      • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

        11 man staff:

CC, AJ, Andy, Mo, Hughes, Aceves, DRob, Marte, Coke, Gaudin, Joba

        [end of list]

        • Keanu Reeves

          What he said.

      • Keanu Reeves

I’m not sure…let’s see. You’ve got CC, Burnett, Pettitte, Mo, Phil, Al, Coke, probably Joba, Robertson…how about Gaudin and/or Kennedy?

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

At this point, he’s not even the first guy to be adding between rounds if there’s an injury.

    • Keanu Reeves

Although they should carry him to throw BP.

    • Tank the Frank

      There is no spoon.

      • Keanu Reeves

        I like your style.

    • thurdonpaul

i vote with you on that

  • Jon G

Hopefully this is the last couple of weeks we have to deal with the maddening inconsistency of Bruney. I can’t see him on the post-season roster or on the team next year.

How long does it take for the Yankees to realize what they get — and don’t — with this guy??

This is season three of flashes of greatness, surrounded by long stints of sucking.

    • http://conservationvaluenotes.com Jon G

At this point, it’s not even inconsistency anymore.

Bruney consistently doesn’t get the job done.

What Girardi was thinking by bringing him in, I have no idea. Woops.

      • Accent Shallow

I tend to agree with you. There’s two weeks left, and unless he can show something, he does not belong.

        • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

He was probably already on the outside looking in before that homer.

          He’s DOA now.

          • Lanny

Well the other guys got 2 weeks here to make a case. Gaudin can certainly make a case tomorrow and in his starts. Even IPK can.

            • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

True, everyone can make a case, but some guys have to prove it and some guys can only lose it.

As of now, Gaudin’s in and Bruney’s out. It would take something big on both sides to change either of those.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Chone Figgins has played 33 games at a position other than 3B from 2007-2009. He does not play all over anymore.

  • Brazilian Yankee

Not even Joe G. can justify having Bruney on the postseason roster nowadays.

    • Tank the Frank

He’s made worse decisions. I wouldn’t put it past him…

      • Lanny

Robertson really needs to come back and make sure it isnt a decision.

  • http://image.guardian.co.uk/sys-images/Arts/Arts_/Pictures/2008/07/23/rose460.jpg makavelli

I’ve hated Brian Bruney since the beginning. Only person I hated more was probably Edwar Ramirez…between the two of them you’d think we could at least get a cheese sandwich or something…

    • Zack

      since the beginning of what?

      • Zack

if you say 2006 you’re just lying

    • Tank the Frank

Not hard to believe. It’s tough to be in love with a reliever with the kind of BB/9 numbers Bruney had when the Yankees got him. He seemed to have found something there for a while last year and early this year, but that’s long gone.

      • Lanny

Hes like any normal reliever. They go thru spots where they are good. And more of ones where they are bad. Especially with those BB numbers. Its great that he throws 95. But when its straight it aint good.

  • Accent Shallow

    Baseball-related fantasies I have:

Someone from the Yankees’ staff (don’t care who) no hits the Angels in 2010.

  • mustang

    “On playing the Angels”

I don’t thinking the Angels read Ben’s thread today they still think these are the same old Yankees.

  • Dela G

thank you jesus for the pop up

now can we have a consistent reliever in please?

brian bruney can take a hike to hell for all i care

  • handtius

bruney needs a good, long off-season of eating. He was better with some weight. No, I’m not serious.

  • aj

haha and Gaudin pitches tomorrow to save the day. Yes this is the NY yankees.

    • Salty Buggah

      wow, just jump now

      • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Well, to be fair, in his last two starts, Gaudin’s given up an .848 OPS. That’s not good.

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

3.20 ERA as a starter for the Yanks.

  • aj

    I miss Colter Bean.

  • bonestock94

If nothing of note happens this inning I’m going to bed. Enough raging for one day.

  • Dela G

can we please start to tag this schmuck?

  • Tom Zig

    Well at least Boston lost.

  • Accent Shallow

Melky is making me wish Gardner is playing, and I have next to no faith in Gardner.

  • Dela G

hell put in cervelli instead of molina?

  • aj

Yes it has nothing to do with the fact that Matsui is a better hitter than Molina.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Now he pinch hits for Jose?

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

You’re a genius, Joe. I’m sorry for doubting you.

      • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

Let that be a lesson to you.

    GODZILLAAA

  • handtius

guess joe pushed the right button.

    • http://conservationvaluenotes.com Jon G

Yeah, if he hadn’t gonged on the Bruney button (and received a mild electrical shock from the ghost of Pavlov), it would be a 1-run game…

  • Accent Shallow

Who was saying earlier that Saunders looks like Matsui’s type of pitcher?

see yaaaa that y u had to start him joe.

  • Brazilian Yankee

Just imagine if we had Matsui for the whole game…

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Good thing Matsui didn’t get the start against a lefty he couldn’t hit…

    • handtius

      who’s spot does he take?

    • http://martelli.mlblogs.com/melky%20c.jpg Drew

I don’t understand why people are so pissed JoPo got a DH day.

      • Lanny

        Over managing.

        • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

          Yeah… it’s not, though.

      • Brazilian Yankee

Because that’s not the excuse Joe G. gave. He said he wanted to stack the lineup with righties to face the lefty.

        • http://martelli.mlblogs.com/melky%20c.jpg Drew

Do you really think Joe went with Molina because he’s a righty?

He wanted JoPo to DH, not a big deal. Dude has 2 hits today.

    • Moshe Mandel

C’mon Mike. Giving Matsui a day off is not a big deal.

      • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

He’s already a DH and they have a day off per week for the rest of the season, though.

I’m more annoyed that Girardi’s a slave to matchups, ignoring the fact that Matsui murders LHP.

        • Moshe Mandel

He started 7 straight days. Posada sat for 3 days, so they want to get him some AB’s.

Its a good thing Matsui didnt start tonight.

  • bonestock94

C’mon lets blow this shit up!!

  • Dela G

is this his first PH homerun

i swore he had a pinch hit game winning home run this year, right?

    • Jersey

Well, on the bright side, the Sox will still be five back tomorrow, facing Greinke.

      • Jersey

        Reply fail.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Maybe Edwar can pitch the 8th. We wouldn’t want the Yankees to get too close…

    • Keanu Reeves

And then maybe Kei Igawa can get there in time to pitch the 9th.

      • aj

Hell if ur gna go that far we can bring back Tanyon Sturtze.

        • Keanu Reeves

          TANGORMO!

    • aj

Or maybe Melancon can hit someone to get a brawl to wake the offense up. He’s good at that.

  • Tom Zig

Hopefully they put Brian Fuentes in soon.

    • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

Maybe we can win in the 9th on a questionable strike 3 call.

      • Tom Zig

It will be a walk off HR for us, just because that’s what we do.

        • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

We just don’t come out for the bottom half of the inning, and record the shit as a walk-off win for us.

          Deal with it, schmucks.

      • handtius

        made me chuckle.

      • http://image.guardian.co.uk/sys-images/Arts/Arts_/Pictures/2008/07/23/rose460.jpg makavelli

The umpires are intimidated by the LA fans…

  • aj

I always felt that Matsui was isolated on the bench. Especially when there’s a walk off. Poor guy.

  • Tank the Frank

I love how Jeter checks his swing, his hands go all the way around but the bat stays on his shoulder. Crazy.

  • Accent Shallow

Another run or two, guys? Please?

  • Lanny

Great call by Girardi putting Bruney in a 3-1 game.

It’s almost like he doesnt care sometimes. We get it. You have confidence in him. God knows why. Let him earn it back in lower leverage spots like normal pitchers.

    • Accent Shallow

Serious reply: who would you rather see? Hughes? Albaladejo? Melancon?

  • Lanny

Good thing Manager Joe also learned his lesson about pinch hitting for Molina.

    • Tom Zig

      Hey Sal

      • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

        Please, call him Robert.

  • aj

    disgusting.

  • Dela G

well that was a good inning for the offense

now put in phil hughes you idiot

  • Accent Shallow

Tex, A-Rod, Swisher in the 9th.

I can’t fault them too much for pitching Bruney, getting him right is more important than seeing what they have in Dunn, although Albaladejo might be a better option.

    • Keanu Reeves

I don’t think they need Bruney. It would help to have another reliable arm. But I’m fine with Al, DRob, Coke, Hughes and Mo.

  • Zack

Matsui has started 9 straight games, mix in a cross country flight(last time his knee acted up) and maybe that’s why he got a fucking day off with a 5 games lead on Sept 22.

    • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

Also: He’s like 59 years old.

      • Zack

        stop babying him

      • sangreal

still can’t believe he is younger than Ichiro

    • http://martelli.mlblogs.com/melky%20c.jpg Drew

AHHHHH!!!!1!1 but teh joe giradhi is a moroon

  • Tank the Frank

It’s sad how Girardi will be remembered for “pushing the right button” with Matsui’s PH in an otherwise horribly managed game.

  • handtius

Do I really here people complaining about a manager that got us to 95 wins already and in 1st place in all of baseball? Well, he must be horrible then. The mob is never wrong.

    • Tank the Frank

He didn’t manage well tonight. Period. Nothing else to say really.

      • handtius

I guess you’re the authority on that. I can’t even combat that. Wait, yes I can. Don’t see any issues with the way he managed.

        • Tank the Frank

No need to stop being a lady. My issue is with his decisions tonight, not you.

          • handtius

My problem is not with you, but with the fact that you believe you know the right and wrong way. If the play worked out, you would never have mentioned it. If bruney didn’t give up a run, would it still be the wrong move? You can just use goo relievers or you’ll burn them out. You need to spread out the experiences to keep the work load down. Joe knows we are going to the post-season. He is, especially now, not going to burn out his top choices.

            • Tank the Frank

Nah his bullpen management I can’t take too much issue with for the reasons you mentioned. Again, I didn’t like the move with Aybar at the plate. And I do believe that’s the wrong way to play it for reasons I mentioned below…though I’m not sure it’s written anywhere in a book.

Bringing the infield in is a strategy employed with less than two outs. In this case, it was Alex to guard against a bunt. At that point it would be a squeeze play or an otherwise perfect bunt for a basehit. But with 2 outs that’s not the best move. The best move for the Angels was to swing the bat, which they did.

      • Moshe Mandel

In what sense? He shouldn’t have gone to Bruney. Otherwise?

      • http://martelli.mlblogs.com/melky%20c.jpg Drew

Why, because Bruney gave up a dinger, or because his DH is 2-3 and is not named Hideki Matsui?

        • Tank the Frank

I didn’t like bringing the infield in with two outs on the Aybar RBI personally. It was a bad move. Not because it didn’t work out…but because it’s the wrong move to make in that situation.

          • handtius

Are you reading some book that tells you these answers or, as I assume, this is your opinion?

          • http://martelli.mlblogs.com/melky%20c.jpg Drew

He didn’t bring the whole infield in. Al was the only in because Aybar bunts.

            • http://martelli.mlblogs.com/melky%20c.jpg Drew

              only one*

            • Tank the Frank

Yeah, I realize that, that’s what I meant. I don’t like guarding against some crazy suicide squeeze play that the Angels may or may not employ while it makes more sense for them to swing the bat there, which they did. Moves like that are usually reserved for less than two outs.

Is anyone going to make a point that it was the right move or just keep questioning my logic?

    • Lanny

      He got us 95 wins?

Maybe if he actually managed well this team would have had 110 wins.

      Why be content with 95?

  • Dela G

    ALBY???

    WHERE IS PHIL HUGHES?

    • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

      Resting, where he should be.

      • Lanny

Hes being saved for October apparently.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

    No Marte with Abreu up?

    • Zack

      that would be over managing

    • aj

doesnt make sense does it? 0.71 Whip, .150 BAA against lefties for Marte.

  • Lanny

After not pitching for a week it seems like Ace is hurting. Never listen to what teams especially the Yankees say. Its in the actions. If hes not getting into tonights game something is wrong with him.

    • Zack

so when we dont see you for a week while the Yankees are 5-0 what should we conclude?

    • Keanu Reeves

Maybe…but I’m not so sure you can definitively say that. Hughes goes a month between outings…so maybe Al does that now too.

    • sangreal

Mitre pitched yesterday and Gaudin pitches tomorrow. They want him rested incase Gaudin can’t go the distance

      • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

        They have Towers for that.

        • Lanny

Ace isnt the 5th starter caddy. Hes a valuable member of the set up crew.

  • Dela G

    good job alby

  • Dela G

    wow he hits everything

  • Lanny

So Hughes only pitches in close games that we are winning?

Ok just want to make sure.

    • handtius

glad you could clarify that with yourself. anything other questionvyou’d like to answer for yourself?

    • Accent Shallow

      So it would appear.

They have a tough line to walk, making sure he’s rested/ready for the playoffs, but not rusty. I bet we see him tomorrow.

      • Dela G

        today would’ve been better

you play to win the game, not the future

  • Moshe Mandel

Alby auditioning for a playoff roster spot?

    • Keanu Reeves

There’s definitely still hope for him. He could be useful next year.

      • Keanu Reeves

        Can I take that back?

    • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

      Perhaps, but he’s a longshot.

  • http://martelli.mlblogs.com/melky%20c.jpg Drew

Does Saunders come out for the 9th? He’s at 101 pitches.

    Fuentes Puhhhlease!!?

    • Moshe Mandel

You know Fuentes will go 1-2-3 if he gets in, right?

  • Salty Buggah

Non-RAB bloggers like Lombardi and that dude from Sliding Into Home will always complain about Girardi.

  • yankeefan91 Arod fan

I hope Guerrero goes to the national league i cant stand him when he hits against us when i found out last summer that was my uncle cousin i felt like beaten the crap out of him.

  • Accent Shallow

    How was that not out?

    Regardless, game over. Fuck.

    • Salty Buggah

      you disappoint me

  • Salty Buggah

    damn these 2-out RBIs

  • yankeefan91 Arod fan

I swear i fucking hate the Angels.

    • Esteban

they’re almost in Red Sox territory now

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Fuuuuuuckin’ A. This game has been incredibly frustrating.

  • Dela G

    fucking A

thank goodness that stayed in the park

  • Accent Shallow

That’s the first time I can recall seeing Rivera do something positive against the Yankees.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Hopefully Edwar is warming up. Maybe Mike Dunn too, just in case.

    • Tom Zig

Is there someone named Phil Hughes on our team?

      No? That’s what I thought

      • Lanny

Melancons out there. I guess this was the game to make sure everyone played.

  • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

    Three runs… that’s probably Fuentes-proof. Probably.

  • Dela G

I still don’t understand why the hell hughes wasn’t brought in here

He hasn’t been overworked or anything

    jesus christ

    • kunaldo

don’t be ridiculous…8th inning with a lead only

  • Esteban

The Yankees will never beat the Angels in Anaheim. Ever.

Obviously not true, but WTF, this is ridiculous.

    • Keanu Reeves

      Meh…I am a self-proclaimed uber optimist…but:

Andy was rusty to start, it seemed.

In a playoff game, Bruney and Alby only see the mound if Al, Coke, Hughes and Mo are abducted.

      So…I’ll just say whatever.

      • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

In a playoff game, Bruney and Alby only see the mound if Al, Coke, Hughes and Mo are abducted.

        That.

This game was 3-2 Pettitte v. Saunders. The 4th and 5th runs were given up by pitchers who won’t be on the playoff roster.

  • BigBlueAL

There goes Rivera again with his Soriano antics. The Yankees should just carry like 8 or 9 pitchers in the post-season….

  • Keanu Reeves

I hate when players go into, “Did you see me crush that ball? I’m gonna pimp it around the bases now”, and the ball doesn’t go out. Unless you hit a ball that is threatening to put a hole in the ozone layer…run out of the box.

  • Mr. Troll

Angels own the Yanks in Cali. Why are you guys so frustrated? You should of seen this coming and this is only game one of a three game sweep.

    • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

      Your name ruins the surprise.

    • Tom Zig

      I’ll sweep you

  • http://martelli.mlblogs.com/melky%20c.jpg Drew

    9th inning = magic time.

  • Tom Zig

    bloop single, bloop single

    Fuentes comes in

    Swisher Smash

    • Tom Zig

fly out, bloop single, bloop single

      Fuentes comes in

      Posada smash

  • Lanny

So in a close game against the Angels he brings in Bruney and Alby. Why not Edwar for a few batters? Lets let the game get out of hand.

Maybe Hughes is hurting too from all the cobwebs on him.

    • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

Maybe Joe doesn’t give a shit.

  • Dela G

    wow shocked saunders is back

  • Mouch “Half Man Half Couch”

Maybe Gaudin will stop the bleeding in Anaheim tomorrow night. Maybe.

  • Dela G

    damn it tex

you should’ve let him try and throw 3 straight strikes

  • Salty Buggah

damn, I had hoped Tex would get on.

  • mustang

I don’t care about logic or anything else I don’t want to see this team in the playoffs. Hopeful the Red Sox can take care of that..

  • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

    Smoked.

  • Dela G

A-rod loves him some joe saunders

  • Accent Shallow

A-Rod is still good. Joe Saunders still isn’t. Runs against shaky Angels’ pen, please?

  • Brazilian Yankee

Our last chance was Fuentes coming in. This one is ovah now.

    • Brazilian Yankee

OK nevermind, Fuentes coming in. We still have a shot.

  • Salty Buggah

    nice job Alex

  • yankeefan91 Arod fan

Come on yanks we came back against Fuentes we can do it again.

  • Jersey

Waiting until the 9th to chase Saunders is not an optimum strategy here.

    • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

      Was that really a “strategy”?

Joe: Everyone, take a knee. I want you fellows to take good AB’s, but don’t chase Saunders until the 9th inning. Then, we implement Phase Two.

      • handtius

we found a single weakness, buried deep in the plans. It’s called brian.

      • Jersey

        Joe is an innovator.

      • handtius

        phase 2 failed.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

    At least A-Rod showed up.

  • MikeD

Fuentes…he’s on my fantasy team. I hate it when I have to actively root for one of my Roto players to explode.

  • Accent Shallow

    Horsecrap!

  • yankeefan91 Arod fan

    son of a bitch.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

You have got to be fucking kidding me. I’m going to fucking scream.

  • Dela G

    DAMN IT

    I THOUGHT THAT WAS GONE

  • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

    SUMMAMABITCH!!!!

  • handtius

    fuck. my heart just cracked.

  • Moshe Mandel

    One of those games.

  • Keanu Reeves

Oh boy…that rose my heart rate a bit.

  • Brazilian Yankee

Yeah, that describes the game right there. Frustrating.

    • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

      GTFO of my head.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

That Swisher at bat was this game in a nutshell: frustrating.

    • Tank the Frank

      Pretty unlucky.

  • mustang

    Snakebit

  • danny

    boo, i hate losing.

    /spoiled yankee fan.

  • Tank the Frank

I like playing at home better…
Take two 2-run HR right off the board tonight.

But the fallacy of the predetermined outcome!!!!

  • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

Two strikes, two outs: This is where the magic happens.

  • Dela G

wow the A’s are being killed by the rangers

  • Brazilian Yankee

those overpowering sub- 90mph FBs are really giving the yankees troubles…

  • cjc

    oh boy cano

  • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

    Cano smash?

  • Dela G

    Great Eye Posada

    Great Eye

  • Accent Shallow

The Yankees will bring the tying run to the plate in this game.

    What’s that? He’s here?

    Please, Robbie. Please.

  • handtius

tying run. lets do this cano.

  • http://martelli.mlblogs.com/melky%20c.jpg Drew

    LEts get it Robbie.

  • Tom Zig

tying run at the plate…COME ON CANO! I’ll never make fun of you again if you hit a HR here

  • Keanu Reeves

I pray to Mo that Robbie doesn’t see the runners on 1st and 2nd.

    • MikeD

Like a horse, he needs blinders.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

C’mon Robbie. Just see the ball and hit it.

    • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

      He did.

      (tear)

      • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

I’m surprised the AB lasted as many pitches as it did.

        • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

          You were anticipating a zero-pitch pop-out, maybe?

  • Brazilian Yankee

Cano with RISP, can he do it?

    • Brazilian Yankee

Of course he can’t. He hasn’t all season long, why whould he do it now. What a shitty game. Hope we can do better tomorrow.

  • MikeD

Yankee hitters have been off for the past week or so. They don’t slump for long periods, though, so let’s get it out of the way now before October.

  • http://bronxbaseballdaily.com Matt ACTY/BBD

Fuck. This game sucked a lot.

  • Accent Shallow

    Goddammit, Robbie.

  • cjc

fucking cano fuck this road trip seriously

    God damnit Cano…

  • Keanu Reeves

    • Mouch “Half Man Half Couch”

      Yeah ok. LOL>

  • mustang

    Same old same old

    • Salty Buggah

      boooo

      • mustang

I know, but the truth hurts sometime.

        • handtius

it hasn’t been the truth 95 other times this year.

          • mustang

But it seems like the truth when they are playing LAA in Cal.

  • Salty Buggah

OH NO, the seasons ovah! Bostons on fiyah!

    • danny

i would rather lose to the angels then the royals.

  • http://martelli.mlblogs.com/melky%20c.jpg Drew

    ain’t that a bitch

  • Tom Zig

Pettitte kept us in the game. But the bullpen could not

    • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

      Yes.

Silver lining: Pettitte will be pitching in October. This bullpen will not be.

      • Tom Zig

But I thought this was a play off preview

        UCWIDT?

      • Lanny

And why wasnt the real bullpen used tonight?

  • short bus

    fun exhibition game

  • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

We lost, add one back to the magic number. Send it back to 9.

(What’s that you say? It doesn’t work that way? Oh, nevermind then.)

  • Dela G

man the yankees missed a prime oppo to put the final nail in the red sox coffin

JOE GIRARDI, I WANT TO SEE PHIL HUGHES IN EVERY EFFING CLOSE GAME. I AM TIRED OF SEEING BRUNEY PITCH. HE IS GARBAGE, ABSOLUTE GARBAGE. PUT IN HUGHES FOR 2 INNINGS OR GET ACEVES.

And have matsui play both angels games

    Good God.

    [/rant

    • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside

man the yankees missed a prime oppo to put the final nail in the red sox coffin

No, we didn’t. We won’t have a prime oppo to put the final nail in the Red Sox coffin until we’re up 3-0 against them in the ALCS.

You know how these games don’t matter for us? They don’t really matter to the Sox all that much either.

      • Tom Zig

        PPP

      • Dela G

yeah i know, but i just want the division to be over with. I know they are going to make the playoffs, but a 6 game lead with greinke pitching tomorrow would pretty much silence all red sox fans about the division.

I just take this too seriously

        haha

        • Bob Stone

I feel exactly the same way. It’s okay.

      • Keanu Reeves

Correct. Obviously I would like to see them have HF Advantage and to finish on a strong note…but seriously. The only thing that matters is October.

        • Lanny

Why dont these games matter? They are playing the 2 teams they will have to beat in October. They have to at least show they can win in Anaheim dont they?

The people that say these games mean nothing have obviously taken Girardis lead. As you can see tonight with Bruney, Alby etc.

          • Keanu Reeves

Look, every game matters. Perhaps I overstated my intent. But why would you worry about tonight? Obviously, tonight was not a must-win, so I don’t have a problem with resting Al and Hughes.

Additionally, I take very little stock in the innings that Bruney and Alby threw. They will not throw important innings when the playoffs role around.

Maybe you wanted Girardi to pull out all the stops tonight. That’s fine, you have every right and you’re certainly not wrong. But I’m not worried is all I’m saying.

          • Moshe Mandel

Yup. It helped the Angels when they proved they could beat Boston last season.

            • Keanu Reeves

Another good point. See also 2007. Remember how the Yankees dominate the Indians in the regular season? It doesn’t mean so much come October.

            • handtius

It also helped us against the Tiger a few years ago…well, never mind.

  • Tom Zig

Does every game count as a playoff preview?

  • yankeefan91 Arod fan

wasn’t Matt Carson in are organization he just hit his first home run with the A’s.

  • Lanny

Why wasnt Marte brought in to face Abreu? Why even have 2 lefty’s out there? Isnt that why Marte is here?

Girardi has a lot of explaining to do after this disaster. He better understand his decisions will be heavily scrutinized the next 2 weeks and in every single playoff game this team is in.

I dont know how anyone can say they are 100% confident in him right now after the past 2 weeks.

    • handtius

SSS. 5-2 is not a disaster. Pettitte pitched pretty good = not a disaster.
