Game 153 Spillover Thread II

Heh, AJ did not want to give that ball up to Girardi…

Categories : Game Threads

  1. Tom Zig says:

Hughes isn’t availiable today, is he?

  2. Riddering says:

I didn’t want him to give up the ball.

  3. BigBlueAL says:

How the fuck is this bullpen going to get 7 outs to get the ball to Mo w/o Ace or Hughes????

  4. handtius says:

Pat, it was yesterday in the first game thread, I believe.

  5. handtius says:

    Burnett didn’t get that call.

  6. JMK says:

That second pitch was definitely not a strike. Maybe that makes up a bit for the last BS walk.

  7. Mike Axisa says:

    Where was that pitch??!?

  8. V says:

    Wow. Where was that pitch??!

  9. handtius says:

    this ump is waterboy.

  10. Tom Zig says:

    That was strike 3

  11. Yankee1010 says:

Where did that damn pitch miss?

  12. chriskeo says:

That was scarier than it should have been, i miss swisher’s defense

  13. BigBlueAL says:

So Marte for Aybar and Abreu then dare I say it Bruney???? I cant imagine Hughes pitching today.

  14. Drew says:

Girardi pushes the right button again. heh, some people would make you think he’s never made a good move out of the pen.

I didn’t want AJ facing Chone, dude was on fire and AJ hasn’t had an answer for him today.

    • Goldmember says:

If I wasn’t so lazy, I would look into other manager’s bullpen moves. I mean besides TLR, of course. I think every fan is unfairly harsh on their manager’s bullpen choices, most of the time.

      • Sweet Dick Willie says:

        That’s an understatement.

Go on some Sux sites. Team hadn’t won shit in 86 years, Tito wins 2 WS in his 1st 4 years, and some of those Massholes want to bury the guy.

  15. Riddering says:

Three innings for the B-grade bullpen…

I would like more runs now!

  16. handtius says:

Does anyone think the umping is really bad this year, like worse then usual? I can’t remember it being this bad.

    • Tank the Frank says:

I was just thinking the same thing. The strikezone shifts from day to day and the umps have had some itchy trigger fingers when it comes to ejections. Add that to the fact that we’ve seen some egregious calls go against the Yankees this year.

      • pat says:

Yeah but we get our fair share of missed calls too. Gardy was actually out at 2b last night. It all evens out in the wash.

        • handtius says:

I wasn’t saying against us, I was just saying in general. Umps have been off this year. Lazy, old, what ever color or nationality umps are.

          • Tank the Frank says:

I agree it’s been the whole league. But I’m just pointing out that we’ve had our share of bad calls too.

          • Ed says:

Eh, I don’t think the umps are off any more than they normally are. It’s just that we have Pitch F/X now, which makes it a lot easier to get people on the internet to listen to you when you feel like complaining about the call on a specific pitch. Pitch F/X also provides a way for people who didn’t watch the game to have an opinion on the issue.

        • Tank the Frank says:

Maybe, but that only strengthens the argument that the umpiring has been consistently bad.

Plus that was a close, close call on Gardy. You could barely notice he came off the bag for a split second on slow-mo. The ump really didn’t have a good angle there.

  17. Tom Zig says:

Does anyone know how accurate Gameday is with the pitch movement and locations?

  18. JMK says:

Why is Molina playing over Cervelli? They’re both sub-par offensive players with good D, good arms. At least Cervelli has a bit more speed. Any chance we see Molina next year?

  19. Tom Zig says:

    Jose Molina:

    5 pitches

  20. Riddering says:

Have Bulger and Fister ever played on the same team?

  21. JMK says:

TSJC said this earlier, but I’d like to visit it: Who wants to see IPK pitch? I sure as hell do.

  22. JGS says:

    what’s going on?

  23. JMK says:

A-Rod sighting? My money is on Pena.

  24. Dax J. says:

I’m seeing an injury delay in Gameday. What’s up?

  25. Drew says:

damn looked like J-Hair said he felt something pop.

  26. stew says:

    hairston hurt? pena PHing

  27. JGS says:

why is Pena pinch hitting? (not what happened to hairston, but why Pena?)

  28. Drew says:

It’s not a big deal but why not let Al ph then send Pena out to third?

  29. Peña pinch hitting?

Who does Juan Miranda have to blow to get a PH opportunity?

  30. stew says:

prob because he can play 3rd? Sounds like they want to give A-rod full day off.

  31. stew says:

    and peña strikes out…

  32. pat says:

I wanna see IPk as much as the next guy but I don’t know if his best re-indoctrination to MLB hitters should be protecting a 1 run lead late innings in Anaheim.

  33. JMK says:

I feel like I’m reading War & Peace. Hurry the fuck up, Bulger!

  34. handtius says:

zombieland looks like an enjoyable ride.

  35. Riddering says:

    That was disappointing.

  36. Brazilian Yankee says:

Are we counting on Marte to get through the 7th? That might not be a good idea.

  37. Nels says:

I don’t have much confidence in the Yanks bullpen w/o Hughes, Aceves, Coke and Robertson available. I’m prepared for an adventure.

  38. Drew says:

Thank Mo Gardy didn’t pull that dive shit.

  39. yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

    marte ge a dp

  40. Riddering says:

We’re gonna need a bigger run differential.

  41. Mike Axisa says:

    Straight cash homey. Got MArte.

  42. JGS says:

    phew–that was awesome

  43. Riddering says:

    That was nice.

    Thank you again, Bobby!

  44. Drew says:

    Oh boy.

    me scared

  45. handtius says:

who pitches the 8th? I’m completely at a loss if it’s not Hughes.

  46. That’s some hot DP action right there.

    (3… 2… 1…)

  47. Mike Axisa says:

    Nice chuck by Shelley.

  48. yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

    wow phil coke coming in.

  49. Tank the Frank says:

I heard Suzyn Waldmen say Coke lost eight pounds from that instestinal virus. Those are tough to come back from. Hopefully he can make some good pitches here. I don’t expect his velocity will be the same.

  50. Riddering says:

Good thing there’s a day off tomorrow.

    And D-Rob is coming home.

  51. JMK says:

Shelley is a horrible fielder. Anyone who complains of Swisher’s lack of grace out in Right, please observe.

  52. Mike Axisa says:

WTF, why not have Albie walk Morales??

  53. Goldmember says:

Kendry Morales looks like something/someone, but I can’t put my finger on it. Anyone else have an idea?

    Being serious here.

  54. Lanny says:

Couldnt Marte have given up a double to Hunter?

  55. handtius says:

This has shite storm written all over it. I’m hoping the weather forecast is wrong as usual.

  56. Mattingly's Love Child says:

So about Molina being a lazy-shit behind the plate this year and stabbing at balls….

  57. BigBlueAL says:

    TSJC might get his wish!!!!

  58. yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

    Ian Kennedy in the pen.

  59. yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

    good job coke.

  60. pat says:

    OOO cokie, u sneaky bastard.

  61. Lanny says:

Why not give Kennedy a shot? he cant be worse than bruney, edwar, alby, melancon, etc.

  62. acb says:

idk why it took 3 pitchers to get out of the 7th inning. girardi does some odd things in 1 run games.

    • pat says:

well our top non-mo bullpen guys are unavailable. That is a problem.

    • Drew says:

Well, he planned on using two pitchers, then Albe gave up a double. I blame Joe!111!

    • Zack says:

      Player 1:
      vs RHP .288/.358/.489
      vs LHP .353/.417/.627

      Player 2:
      vs RHP .308/.362/.584 27 HRs
      vs LHP .292/.307/.492 4 HRs

Without your elite arms available, would you want a LHP or RHP pitching to player 1?

      Same question for player 2?

  63. Riddering says:

Seeing that it’s the 8th, how many runs do the Yanks put on the board?

  64. Kendry Morales looks like a fat, bloated Billy Zane.

  65. Riddering says:

    Now they send Hinske?

  66. yankeefan91 Arod fan says:

    finally Eric Hinske in there.

  67. Mike bk says:

busy day for hinskie. hope he isnt too exhausted. haha

  68. Riddering says:

    Guzman to the third!

  69. Tank the Frank says:

I love this whole “speed” thing off the bench.

  70. Accent Shallow says:

Napoli is such an amateur. Gorgeous.

  71. Lanny says:

Guzman would be some heck of a player if he could get on base at a .350 level. Gardner too.

  72. Drew says:

    Unlucky for the melkman.

  73. acb says:

god damn this commercial is so annoying. STFU no one cares.

  74. Tank the Frank says:

Such crap luck! That’s happened a lot lately…singles ticketed to CF knocked down by the pitcher.

  75. chriskeo says:

    So can Guzman field well?

  76. Teix is the Man says:

    IPK IPK!

  77. Mike bk says:

here we go IPK. the new 8th inning guy. just wait for francessa.

  78. Accent Shallow says:

    Oh shit, it’s Ian Kennedy!

  79. Drew says:

    someone tell yes it’s 3-2, not 4-2

  80. Um… IPK. This is awesome. Heads are exploding all over the NY-metro area right now.

  81. chriskeo says:

    nice grab!

  82. IAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  83. Rey22 says:

What better way to say welcome back to the bigs, Ian than to throw you into the 8th inning (most important evar11) of a 3-2 game going for the first series win there since forever.

  84. Lanny says:

Would make for some story if Kennedy could be a vital member of this bullpen. Especially teaming with Hughes.

  85. Mouch "Half Man Half Couch" says:

Sorry if I missed it but is Mo available today?

  86. Dela G says:

hey look at that it’s ian kennedy!

  87. Drew says:

    Kennedy throwing 93.

  88. Dela G says:

cmon ian, you got this my man

    you’ve got this

  89. handtius says:

    TAKE HIM OUT!!!11!!1111!22@$%UY568698789%^84#!!!

  90. JMK says:

It almost looked like he leaned into the pitch.

  91. Kendrick dropped his arm into that pitch as he started to swing.

  92. chriskeo says:

  93. Jay says:

Kennedy throwing 93 and plunking guys…

  94. pat says:

    Guys, John Sterling is flabbergasted.

    Just thought you should know.

  95. Accent Shallow says:

Gameday has Kennedy at 92-93, but the fastball loses a bit more speed on the way to the plate than it does for some other guys.

First day in prison: Kick some random guys ass just to show everyone you’re not going to take anyone’s shit.

  97. Nels says:

Is Mo warming for the 4 outer?

  98. Ivan says:

    Come IPK.

  99. Mattingly's Love Child says:

Anyone watching on just have it switch to commercial?

  100. Goldmember says:

John Kruk and Steve Phillips just jizzed in their pants. Ian in the 8th is too much for their tiny brains to comprehend.

  101. Dela G says:

    get that command :)

  102. Mike Axisa says:

He doesn’t do the little Mike Mussina bow anymore.

  103. Dela G says:

man he got squeezed on that pitch called ball 3

  104. mustang says:

I’m surprise RAB is still up and hasn’t explode from the excitement of having IPK on the mound.

  105. Mike bk says:

    that 2-1 was a strike.

  106. Mouch "Half Man Half Couch" says:

Ok, welcome back Ian now we have a division to win. Lets go !!!

  107. handtius says:

he’s got the Marky M decease.

  108. Brazilian Yankee says:

Poor Kennedy. This is too much for him.

  109. Dela G says:

    effing A

kennedy just does not have the command at the moment

  110. Mike bk says:

i assume we have a bunt coming that u take napoli out for this dude?

  111. JGS says:

why can’t you believe that Bruney isn’t in, Jawn? you’ve said like 30 times that you are flabbergasted

Bruney sucks. so does Mitre. who would you throw, Towers?

  112. Let’s go, Ian. Get out of this.

  113. J.R. says:

WTF did everyone else lose the game on

  114. JMK says:

I’m confident he’ll get out of this. I don’t know why, I just am.

  115. Russell NY says:

Yea we’re screwed. They’ll walk and single this guy to death.

  116. Macier Izturis reminds me of Wilmer Valderrama.

  117. Mike bk says:

    there u go Ian.

  118. Goldmember says:

Can somebody call the ASPCA or PETA about the monkey?

  119. Dela G says:

  120. JMK says:

Talk about a swing and a miss.

  121. chriskeo says:

holy crap, the bat went further than the ball!!!!

  122. Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

    Save the Big 3!!!

  123. Haha, that was so awesome.

  124. Ivan says:

  125. Mike Axisa says:

What could Scioscia possibly be thinking here?

“Should I let Vlad Guerrerro, one of two players in history with 1,000 hits for one AL team and one NL team, pinch hit here? Nah, Maicer Izturis will do just fine.”

  126. Drew says:

    Ian killin kids!!!

  127. Mouch "Half Man Half Couch" says:

Hold on to your bat you F’n jerkoff.

  128. JGS says:

    you have an off-day tomorrow

good job Ian, give the ball to Mo now

  129. Accent Shallow says:

Can Kennedy get Figgins? Figgins seems like he’d eat Kennedy for breakfast.

(I’m still so jazzed just to see IPK.)

  131. handtius says:

    would you walk figgins here?

  132. chriskeo says:

Is anyone else having trouble loading the page?
    Time for a spillover thread?

  133. Charlie says:

this is bullshit. mark melancon is sitting there like, “what the fuck did i do to girardi”. i can’t understand how you use kennedy over melancon or even bruney here.

  134. Brazilian Yankee says:

Mo should be in this game…

  135. Dela G says:

  136. Mattingly's Love Child says:

    Unintentional intentional walk?

  137. Lanny says:

Well nice effort Kennedy. 2 walks and a HBP aint gonna cut it.

  138. Riddering says:

Oh sweet Mo, just one more non-contact strike.

  139. Drew says:

    get it young fella

  140. Russell NY says:

    Miracle if he escapes this

  141. Mike bk says:

    damn he had him.

  142. Mattingly's Love Child says:

    Lovin me some Molina….

  143. Gregg says:

    Oh man IPK!!!

  144. chriskeo says:

    does he throw that again?

  145. JGS says:

wow, Jawn is really angry about this–I don’t think I’ve ever heard him this animated about anything

  146. Mister Delaware says:

I am going to throw this low and inside. You are going to swing. Repeat.

  147. Dela G says:

  148. chriskeo says:

    So Guzman can field!

  149. Accent Shallow says:

Why we saved The Big Three:

Because all three can pitch teh eight!

  150. Russell NY says:

    Holy cow he did it!!!

  151. Riddering says:

  152. Mike bk says:

there u go IPK. last year he gets shelled there. way to hang in.

  153. Mouch "Half Man Half Couch" says:

    Welcome back IPK.

  154. JGS says:

  155. Andy In Sunny Daytona says:

Ian Patrick Kennedy. My man from the Southland.
