Laird draws some walks in Surprise losses

By Mike Axisa

The Yanks pulled Austin Romine from the Arizona Fall League after he sustained a minor injury. They opted not to send someone to replace him, so the Rangers sent Taylor Teagarden.

AzFL Surprise (2-1 loss to Peoria Javelinas on Monday) three runs total in an AzFL game? wtf?
Colin Curtis: 3 for 5, 1 K – OPS’ing over 1.200
Brandon Laird: 1 for 2, 1 BB, 1 HBP
Grant Duff: 1 IP, zeroes, 1 K, 1-1 GB/FB – 6 of 11 pitches were strikes (54.5%)

AzFL Surprise (7-6 loss to Phoenix on Tuesday)
Brandon Laird: 0 for 3, 2 BB, 1 K

Accent Shallow says:

Is the AzFL pitch f/x data available anywhere easily? I checked Brooks Baseball, but that tool isn’t working.

Is it normal to pull players like that?

The Braves pulled their top prospect Heyward due to injury.

Stanton is out too.

When I first read these I always forget the name of the team and think that the loss or the win was surprising.

Riddering says:

Bwah, I had the same reaction.

It wasn’t until my second time looking at this post that I remembered the team name.

Not replacing Romine? Awful. DoTF just got less interesting.

I’m really looking forward to him at AA next year.

Accent Shallow says:

Also, Mike, how much fun are you having coming up with “Surprise”-related puns?

Tom Swift says:

Hey, this isn’t the Post.

Christos says:

I was gonna meet Austin on the 11-13 of next month too. Damn.
