Categories : Game Threads, Playoffs

  1. Hall and Nokes says:

Good job, Andy. I’ll be up all night.

  2. Did Andy make a statement there? Joe?

  3. Alex S says:

that 1 inning took a half hour

  4. Riddering says:

Very nice K there from Andy.

Now I’d like to see the Yanks make the top half innings a bit longer.

    • Brazilian Yankee says:

They need to do a better job, but so does the ump. If the strikezone remains from batters box to batters box, they’ll have no chance.

  5. Esteban says:

Has Ryan Howard EVER hit an offspeed pitch from a lefty?

  6. Girardi out to the mound says:

Cue the AL pitchers try to pitch AROD inside talk

  7. slappy white says:

Our hitters need to quit getting themselves behind in counts and we’ll hit this prick….predicting a big game outta swish

  8. Souter Fell says:

let’s hope Kate’s period ended over the travel day

  9. Jake H says:

Ryan Howard should see no FB this whole series.

  10. Eirias says:

Time for Hamels to break out the Spike Changeup.

  11. Brazilian Yankee says:

Cole Dick. Let’s make him pay.

  12. Doug says:

That is certainly a way to get on base.

  13. Esteban says:

Classy Phillies fans, cheering an HBP

  14. Stadium Garlic Fries says:

Thanks Cole for hitting him..now u will pay for it..

  15. Souter Fell says:

i guess you take what you can get

  16. slappy white says:

    thanks Cole…keep pounding the hitters

  17. Alex S says:

    F U Hammels
good to see Arod on base tho

  18. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

Idiot phillies fans applaud a clear mistake.

  19. southernyankeefan says:

    Nice lets go Jorge.

  20. ShuutoHeat says:

Yuk yuk yuk, that is so funny…. fucking McCarver is stupid.

  21. Riddering says:

A-Rod only took one pitch there. Way to rack up Hamels pitch count.

  22. Alex S says:

  23. Sam says:

Elston Howard was such a great Yankee great. McCarver is a great announcer great.

  24. Alex S says:

so lucky feliz juggled it there

  25. “Elston Howard… The great Yankee great.”

    Tim McCarver. Wordsmith.

(shoots self in head with finger-gun)

  26. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

haha arods like anybody? anybody else see that?

  27. Brazilian Yankee says:

    Awful AB Posada.

  28. Esteban says:

    The excellent umpiring continues

  29. Girardi out to the mound says:

    “The great Yankee great”

glad these guys get paid for this

Also, did the Philly fans just cheer Arod getting hit? Intelligent.

  30. Souter Fell says:

c’mon boys, let’s not let this guy have a pitch count in the teens by the end of this inning

  31. Jake H says:

Jorge no work count, Jorge swing!

  32. HolyGhostClaw says:

    Dad: “Come on Cole!”
    Cole: “Who err ewe?”

Cole Hamels’ voice makes me want to punch my own face.

  33. Souter Fell says:

cano, do me a favor and hit one bery bery far

  34. Quikksand says:

    Let’s go yankees

  35. Alex S says:

    come on robbie!

  36. Doug says:

Wave those towels, you mindless drones!

  37. Brazilian Yankee says:

It’s like this team is not allowed to have good ABs.

  38. Pasqua says:

Well, see, that doesn’t help matters, Robbie.

  39. Mike Nitabach says:

I hope it’s just the location of the microphones, because otherwise it is embarrassing how much louder the Phillies fans are than the Yankees fans were games one and two. Do you think Yankee Stadium was just filled with corporate dudes and not real fans?

  40. JFH says:

    good grief robbie

  41. Jay says:

Good one Robbie. You let a grooved fastball down the middle go by and then you whiff on a piece of shit pitch.

  42. EB says:

Robbie takes two fb’s down the middle then swings at one at his ankles… bizarre world

  43. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

really not liking cano taking pitches. lets some hittable ones go by and then swings at garbage

  44. Stadium Garlic Fries says:

I will be pissed if Yankees don’t hit Hammels hard..

  45. Souter Fell says:

    geez, come on boys

  46. slappy white says:

Cano watches 2 right down the middle and swings at strike 3 a foot inside….WTF?

  47. southernyankeefan says:

    Hey swisher popped up…again.

  48. baka nakamura says:

swish pops out. there’s a surprise.

  49. Jay says:

Whoa. I’m shocked. Swisher popped out.

  50. Quikksand says:

looks like we got ourselves another pitching showdown

  51. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

add another inning to the count of how many our offense has slept through

  52. whozat says:

So…wait, this guy is getting slapped around the ballpark by every other team he faces, and NOW no one can see more than 3 pitches in an AB?

  53. Doug says:

    Sherlock Holmes: Watson YOUR wallet?

  54. Alex S says:

fuck fuck fuck mother motherfuck motherfuck fuck fuck!

  55. Brazilian Yankee says:

Swisher with yet another great AB and a popout. At least he keeps the clubhouse loose.

  56. slappy white says:

damn, the offense needs to WAKE UP

  57. C says:

The offense needs to step the fuck up and put together some quality ABs

  58. Count Crapulent says boo to you sir says:

If we ever toweled up at Yankee Stadium I would never go there again.

  59. DreDog says:

Not worried. Hamels 2nd and 3rd time through the line-up will not be pretty.

  60. hal says:

he was really really good in BP

  61. Pasqua says:

I don’t say this with the belief that the Yanks won’t hit Hamels, but if the trend does continue, at what point do you stop slobbering over the pitchers and decide that the Yanks are just pressing?

    • Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

Ive already decided that after the pedro game. He knows how to pitch but there were plenty of hittable balls. We’re just missing them.

    • claybeez says:

My question is if it is pressing, how do you counteract it? I’ve been looking for that answer and the Yankee coach/mgr who knows it for a number of years now.

      • Pasqua says:

Well, to borrow from the tired cliche…I guess you counteract it when one guy puts a swing on one and “opens the floodgates.”

  62. Moshe Mandel says:

We go through this every day. If the opposing pitcher is throwing strikes, it becomes very difficult to have good at bats (meaning take pitches). In fact, Cano’s at bat was a perfect example of the futility of taking pitches just for the sake of it. It puts you in a hole. He should not have swung at that pitch, but you see that with 2 strikes- bad swings.

  63. Tank the Frank says:

Honestly, the Yankees don’t have a prayer in this series if the offense keeps up these awful at bats. I don’t think I’m out of line saying that. This is not the same offense I watched this season.

  64. Alex S says:

    wtf andy come on

    • whozat says:

Well, when you throw the same pitches as the other guy, but they get called balls for you, it’s tough.

  65. slappy white says:

Is that Steve Phillips standing behind home plate ?

  66. southernyankeefan says:

  67. baka nakamura says:

  68. Mike Axisa says:

Wow, Werth went down and got that one.

  69. Alex S says:

    FML werth went golfing

  70. Brazilian Yankee says:

So that’s what a real offense looks like. Awesome.

  71. JFH says:

saw that coming a mile away

  72. Quikksand says:

Just like that, Phillies strike 1st

  73. JSquared says:

    players with girl hair >

  74. swisher's fauxhawk says:

Why is their home run horn a whale song?

  75. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

wow. looked like he barely hit that well at first.

  76. Esteban says:

    Werth is pretty good.

  77. Wow. Not exactly a mighty stroke by Werth there. That’s a powerful guy, I guess.

  78. Quikksand says:

I hope the Yankees offense gets it going.

  79. slappy white says:

bottom line is we better start hitting the fucking ball cause theyre gonna score runs

    • JFH says:

agreed. pettitte throwing a lot of pitches and missing spots. gives up a double while i type this. we need to score runs cause pettitte does not have A game right now.

  80. Stadium Garlic Fries says:

what is up with all the hitters making Vladi proud this postseason..

  81. Drew says:

What’s that girl doing in the dugout!!!??

    /Keith Hernandez’d

  82. Jersey says:

Remember the last time they scored first, and then we won?

  83. Esteban says:

  84. southernyankeefan says:

Well this is not looking good.

  85. Alex S says:

    get your shit together andy

  86. baka nakamura says:

pete happy. this isn’t shaping up well.

  87. Doug says:

You can’t let Feliz and his noodle bat hit it that far.

  88. ShuutoHeat says:

that was dead center, give the man credit for not getting a HR

  89. whozat says:

wow, that was a horrendous pitch

  90. Esteban says:

    Terrible location

  91. Brazilian Yankee says:

    88mph down the middle.

  92. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

We have got to score runs in this ballpark. makes YS3 look like citi field. jesus.

  93. Brazilian Yankee says:

    Andy has no command

  94. Quikksand says:

    I already can’t watch!

  95. Drew says:

Lucky that one stayed in. No more cookies Andy.

  96. slappy white says:

at this rate Andy pitches 4 weak

  97. whozat says:

    Gunshy, or shitty?

  98. Mike Axisa says:

I’m pretty sure this is old unintentional intentional walk to get to the pitcher.

  99. Pasqua says:

Whenever mainstream media says that the Yanks will eat the opposing pitcher for lunch and our pitcher will lock it down, be very afraid.

  100. Doug says:

    Let’s go. Free out!

  101. whozat says:

    Hamels has gotten that call

  102. Alex S says:

COME ON! now we have to watch a spot on Werth????

  103. Jake H says:

Andy has looked terrible so far. Also I wouldn’t call Jayson W a star. A career year yep. I guess you only have to have 1 great year to be a star.

  104. Mike Axisa says:

    Are you kidding me?

  105. baka nakamura says:

    you. have. to. be. kidding.

  106. Alex S says:

a motherfucking bunt hit, get your damn shit together

  107. whozat says:

Wow. They give you an out, and you can’t even get it. Inexcusable.

  108. Brazilian Yankee says:

    Fuck you Posada.

  109. Pasqua says:

YAAAAAAYYYYY, bunt! Cole Hamels, you’re so dreamy!

  110. Esteban says:

Not looking good at this moment

  111. E-ROC says:

    That works.

  112. Jake H says:

Andy has no idea what is going on. What a moron.

  113. Hall and Nokes says:

Andy is going to have to be crafty and uber-intelligent tonight, like Pedro.

  114. Alex S says:

DP pleeeeeease last thing i want to see is rollins with a hit or walk

  115. Pasqua says:

Pettitte’s just hoping the ball goes where he wants it to.

  116. Quikksand says:

    I’m in panic mode

  117. JackC says:

    Sheesh. Feeling uneasy

  118. JFH says:

    no command

  119. Alex S says:

    40 pitches already

  120. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

We knew the phillies had a very good lineup. Great lineup, hittable pitching. If we want to win this series, we are going to have to wake up and really show our offensive potential. Otherwise, we are in some serious trouble. We can’t expect the starters to keep blanking people, especially not in this bandbox.

  121. E-ROC says:

    Pettitte has nothing right now.

  122. Alex S says:

    how about a strike andy?

  123. Brazilian Yankee says:

Horrible. The team really showed up tonight.

  124. Pasqua says:

Well, the Phils fans are right about one thing…we are definitely sucking.

  125. BigBlueAL says:

Dont see Pettitte on 3 days rest with the way this game is going.

  126. Jake H says:

Andy has no command at all tonight.

  127. baka nakamura says:

    this is killing me.

  128. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

jesus christ. at this rate i’m worried about the bullpens. we could have to send gaudin out there against all these lefties.

  129. Alex S says:

lets hope hammels implodes next inning

  130. Pasqua says:

    Holy shit.

  131. Henry Triana says:

  132. bobtaco says:

    May Day, May Day…

  133. BigBlueAL says:

The Knicks are looking better tonight than the Yankees.

  134. Jay says:

Oh I just love giving up walks to guys with an OBP of .297

  135. Alex S says:

how the fuck do you walk motherfucking rollins

  136. NYFan50 says:

Better a walk than a bases clearing double. With the command he’s got right now…

  137. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

    Panic. Panic. Panic. Panic. Panic.

  138. DreDog says:

Rollins is looking like a good batter? WTF?!?!?!?!

  139. Brazilian Yankee says:

    Big game Andy, right?

  140. Girardi out to the mound says:

Jimmy Rollins. The guy with a .296 OBP now has 4 walks this series.

How the hell does that happen?

  141. Jake H says:

Hey Joe, why not send Eiland out there?

  142. Tank the Frank says:

I’ve never seen Andy look so shell shocked.

  143. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

Is Mccarver seriously blaming our defense for the bunt?

    • whozat says:

I would. No one took charge and fielded it. They handed us an out, and we soiled it. This game is probably still 1-0 if we do our fucking job.

      • Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

It would have taken a very very good throw and tough play from somebody to make that play. Sometimes it’s just in a perfect spot, you just have to put it in your pocket.

  144. slappy white says:

Suzyn Waldman on the radio acting suprised that theyre moving around in the bullpen

  145. whozat says:

    Wow, Victorino…why swing?

  146. southernyankeefan says:

That is fucking unacceptable. WTF Andy act like you fucking know.

  147. Moshe Mandel says:

I hated the intentional walk to Ruiz there with one out. Hated it. Attack the 8 hitter and face the pitcher with 2 outs. So stupid.

  148. Riddering says:

    Christ on a pogo stick.

  149. JMK aka The Overshare says:

I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen Pettitte look this clueless.

  150. Dave G says:

    This is working out great.

  151. Alex S says:

3-0 on a girly throw from damon, we better pray that our lineup starts hitting

  152. Pasqua says:

You can pile on for this comment if you want, but for a team that’s pressing at the plate already, I am hating being down (at least) 3 early

  153. Jake H says:

That is just the stupidest pitch ever. Guy has looked terrible so what does Andy do. He throws one that is an easy pop up. Throw a pitch in the dirt.

  154. Brazilian Yankee says:

0-2 pitch right down the pipe. 3-0 with Utley due up and the way this shitty offense is playing, this one is close to being over.

    • NYTraveller says:

Did you serve in the French army or something? Surrender is a little premature in the 2nd inning. Keep the faith.

  155. NYTraveller says:

Just get Utley. Gving away 2 here sucks but the offense has to step up sooner or later. Tonight would be good.

  156. Alex S says:

Am i hearing mixed lets go Yankees/ Phillies chants?

  157. Alex S says:

    these fans are relentless…….

  158. Esteban says:

Andy’s not get help with these calls.

  159. Rob H. says:

You could have had the best arm in the world out there on that sac fly, you weren’t throwing the guy out at the plate. The ball was hit too far.

  160. DreDog says:

You know what? We are going to see a classic Ace win tonight. Mark my words.

  161. Brazilian Yankee says:

10 pitches per out so far for big game Andy.

  162. baka nakamura says:

how long’s he been out there? seems like an hour.

  163. Randy A. says:

Dont get too down. It’s the 2nd inning.

  164. Esteban says:

    Could have been worse

  165. Pasqua says:

  166. Moshe Mandel says:

He’s owning the lefties, but cant deal with the righties.

  167. JMK aka The Overshare says:

I’m about to take up smoking again.

  168. Riddering says:

    Yay, the inning is over!

  169. Quikksand says:

    what a nightmare inning

  170. Alex S says:

50 pitches through 2 innings. inexcusable. someone wake this lineup the fuck up

  171. Pasqua says:

At least one back NOW. Let’s do it.

  172. ansky says:

Hey guys I just got back from trick-or-treating with my daughter…wtf is going on?? why dont we have a hit off Hamels?

  173. Kevin in CT says:

I want to take a shit on Victorino’s face

  174. JFH says:

ok. andy needs to regroup. keep it at three. if he can keep it there, we can come back.

  175. theriverdog says:

goddamn it I hate gimmick towels.

  176. DGeezy says:

alright whats done is done, lets go out there and put up some runs

  177. Jake H says:

I’m curious about something. Doesn’t it seem that when Andy pitches on a rain delay he isn’t sharp at all? I seem to recall games like this in the past.

  178. JackC says:

I have a tough time remembering what it’s like to feel confident in the Yankees answering a 3 run inning with three or 4 of their own

  179. The Three Amigos says:

we have a pathetic offense. I love how they all slump at the same time! And this umps strike zone is pathetic as well.

  180. Souter Fell says:

we can get these back, hamels is all over

  181. Alex S says:

    come on melk

  182. Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

    Inside on 2-0.

  183. Alex S says:

  184. nyyank_1 says:

Is it just me or does Philly stadium sound 10x louder on TV than Yankee Stadium? Don’t know if it is the stadium (I didn’t make it out there this year) or the rowdiness of the fans.

Our offense better wake up or we’re in for a very long night.

    • whozat says:

It’s you. This is pretty much how the games sounded at YS during this postseason. Except game 1 of the WS, when it was clear that Cliff Lee could do whatever he wanted and still dominate the Yanks.

  185. Henry Triana says:

He’s sucking ass with regular rest, I can imagine with 3 days rest.

  186. baka nakamura says:

    there goes this inning.

  187. dygg says:

Why has everyone tried to pull everything for the last three games?

  188. dalelama says:

Where are the guys who always defend Posada ? He confused Pettite on the bunt and didn’t field the ball. Andy thought Jorge was going to field it so he didn’t. Just another small example of Jorge’s low IQ costing us.

  189. Salty Buggah says:

OK guys, I’m back. Let’s get some fuckin runs. I hate rain delayed games. Our offense seems to go cold.

  190. ansky says:

Ok Cliff Lee I can understand, Pedro maybe…but Cole Hamels? The way he’s been pitching this postseason? WTF!!

    • Ghost of Scott Brosius says:

It leads one to the conclusion that this has nothing to do with the pitcher and everything to do with our lineup pressing.

    • Esteban says:

You can’t understand how Cole Hamels is pitching well? He has the same FIP as last year.

  191. EB says:

    hamels gettin a big zone

  192. slappy white says:

Now we go 1-2-3 in 2 minutes ? Come on Jeter get a hit

  193. Jersey says:

2nd time through the order. Let’s roll.

  194. charlespoet says:

From the comments and the 5 mins listening to Morgan and Miller, we are fucked. Hope it is really not that bad but the post don’t give me confidence that the Yanks are going to win the game, let alone the series. No pitching tonight and still gross ineptness at the plate. Tell me I am wrong, can’t watch the game right now

  195. Girardi out to the mound says:

Jimmy Rollins has a .545 OBP so far this series

  196. MAMO says:

Hamels doesn’t look all that great. I hope they get to him soon.

  197. slappy white says:

    this is getting reeeediculous

  198. swisher's fauxhawk says:

Of course the ball hangs up there.

  199. Jay says:

Great. Way to put some pressure on Hamels. I’m not one of the ledge jumpers and even I’m getting antsy. Hamels doesn’t even have very good stuff contrary to what the EFFING MORON Joe Buck says. They just look clueless. Waiting waiting waiting for that perfect pitch instead of being aggressive.

  200. Tank Foster says:

If they don’t score a run next inning, they are in big trouble. They aren’t making Hamels break a sweat.
