I don’t say this with the belief that the Yanks won’t hit Hamels, but if the trend does continue, at what point do you stop slobbering over the pitchers and decide that the Yanks are just pressing?
Ive already decided that after the pedro game. He knows how to pitch but there were plenty of hittable balls. We’re just missing them.
My question is if it is pressing, how do you counteract it? I’ve been looking for that answer and the Yankee coach/mgr who knows it for a number of years now.
Well, to borrow from the tired cliche…I guess you counteract it when one guy puts a swing on one and “opens the floodgates.”
We go through this every day. If the opposing pitcher is throwing strikes, it becomes very difficult to have good at bats (meaning take pitches). In fact, Cano’s at bat was a perfect example of the futility of taking pitches just for the sake of it. It puts you in a hole. He should not have swung at that pitch, but you see that with 2 strikes- bad swings.

Honestly, the Yankees don’t have a prayer in this series if the offense keeps up these awful at bats. I don’t think I’m out of line saying that. This is not the same offense I watched this season.
