rbizzler says:

Mike says:

Wow, this is too good to be true right now. a Six running lead heading into the sixth

Spaceman.Spiff says:

THE ANTICIPATION. IT IS PALPABLE.

cheddar says:
Chef says:

why do you keep saying “mint”?

PsiFighter37 says:

I’m getting my WS Champs cap + t-shirt after work tomorrow.

Hell to the fuckin’ YEAH. My 2000 Subway Series shirt is ridiculously faded and has tons of holes…time to get a new shirt!

dalelama says:

Cano really sucks !!!!

ShuutoHeat says:

You know, we will always remember Matsui especially for this 6+ RBI game he has going on tonight.

Doug says:

if this is his last game as a Yankee, there couldn’t be a better storybook ending.

ShuutoHeat says:

It definitely is, no better way to end his tenure than to pound in 6+ runs to tie the WS record and to go home with a ring. He deserves every single bit of it and he is just amazing.

Holy shit I’m bouncing on my couch like a little kid. I’m still hanging on every fucking pitch.

slappy white says:

Throw strikes Andy….You got this

cjc says:

man Robbie is praying this season ends tonight

JackC says:

joining hands with Cole Hamels after every game a la an NFL contest

Riddering says:

Matsui is a pimp-ass pimp.

Doug says:

Reminds me of the Korean playa hater from the Player Hater’s Ball.

“You bitches better recognize!”

Justin R. says:

GODZILLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Andy is a Legend.

TJ says:

Let’s fuckin’ do this

ansky says:

on a side note…Joe and TMAC sound so depressed! I love it. I didnt just want to beat the Phillies I wanted to beat those 2 d-bags too!!!

Incidentally, not that it’s the time, but I’m going to be very disappointed if Matsui isn’t back next season.

Bobtaco says:

He’s one year younger than Damon, and has a better bat. He should be brought back. I would take Damon for a year too. But if you have to have one, I think Matsui is it.

Guest says:

This is not the moment to make this decision because clearly our opinions will be deeply effected by what is going tonight. Yes, Matsui is the better bat. Yes, he is a year younger. But he will not play another game for us in the outfield. Damon gives us another year of defense at least. (Mediocre, but at least he can be adequate enough out there). If we don’t sign someone to play left, then I think we stick with Damon. If we sign someone to play left, then I think we go with Matsui.

Alex S says:

can anyone find the picture from 03 or 04 when hideki slid into home and jumped in the air with a massive fist pump?

NYQ says:

GG says:

You HAVE to bring this guy back….both of em, andy and matsui

Money drop #1 by Buck.

Stadium Garlic Fries says:

Here comes the payroll reference

swisher's fauxhawk says:

There goes Joe Buck on his halfhearted money rant.

Bobtaco says:

Wait until Pujols leaves the Cardinals…

cjc says:

listening to the pod cast of Karros’s interview with Francessa today he just said that Pedro had the upper hand tonight against Andy. How did that work out Eric?

Salty Buggah says:

My mouth’s watering. It’s right there. So close

Marcus says:

Argh, extended Joe Buck payroll discussion….

CanoFTW says:

Is it really necessary to be talking about salaries in the middle of Game 6 when we’re on the brink of clinching?

Just enjoy it. If the other teams had 26 championships and played in the greatest city in the world they’d spend more money than everyone else too.

Andy should have his name legally changed to

Andy ‘on 3 days rest’ Pettitte

ShuutoHeat says:

So wait Joe, is that your remaining defense? Talking about the salary?

cjc says:

oh look a passive jab at the payroll stay classy Joe

Mike Pop says:

Hard to take in.

This is just awesome.

rbizzler says:

I still hate Joe Buck.

Did McCarver just say that Thompson was the ONLY MVP winner of the losing team in that World Series? How the hell did Pittsburgh even win the WS if another Yankee could have even been considered?

Walk off homer in Game 7 by Bill Mazeroski of the Pirates. The Yankees pounded the Pirates in that WS. All the games the Yanks won were blowouts. However, the Pirates won 4 close games, including Game 7.

Yeah, very famous series. That’s one any good Yankee fan should be familiar with.

Arman Tamzarian says:

Keep going Joe, the games not over yet, but it’s close

Bob Stone says:

I read that Andy pitched in the clinching game for the AL East title, the ALDS clincher, the ALCS clincher and now this. When the Yanks win, that means he started and won (I think) EVERY clinching game this year. Does that count toward WS MVP votes?

CanoFTW says:

No – and his Game 3 start was kind of a clunker (even though he won). So I’d say he has no chance to win the MVP.

I think Matsui may have locked it up after that last double.

Jose says:

No, but it will forever be burned into my memory.

Love the chant for Andy.

Hugh Jassman says:

If Godzilla lathered up his head with a bottle of gel he would have hit 3 home runs today.

DontChaKnow says:

Is it Kosher to take a 5 minute shower as soon as the top of the 6th is over and maybe miss a batter or 2 when the yanks are up?

Alex S says:

sick chants, that should give him a reason not to retire

Arman Tamzarian says:

Time for a free pass to Utley

dkidd says:

can’t let utley beat reggie’s record

Jay says:

If Andy gets past the 6th, Joe should let him start the 7th so he can walk off in the middle of an inning instead of after it.

Stadium Garlic Fries says:

I’m surprised they haven’t talked about Beckett yet..it is already 6th inning..

Roll another one, Andy!

Dela G says:

holy shit

wow he crushed that

aa says:

swisher's fauxhawk says:

Meh. Might as well bring out the pen.

ShuutoHeat says:

Howard got lucky.

Too little, too late, Ryan.

Ivan says:

Matsui just did an his personal Bukakke scene on the Phillies tonight.

Brent says:

Rey22 says:

Too little too late Howard.

Salty Buggah says:

Damnit. It’s OK though.

CT Yankee says:

Stadium Garlic Fries says:

He is tired..get him out of there Joe

Reggie C. says:

Dammit.

Start warming up Joba.

Reggie C. says:

Dammit.

Start warming up Joba.

Alex S says:

wow howard actually did something, i didn’t like his stupid walk after it though.

Marcus says:

Alright fuck that, let’s shut them down NOW.

Doug says:

BANDBOX

Well done, Ryan Howard, you don’t look like a complete chump anymore.

Jake H says:

That ball just carried.

MARIANO TO TEH 7TH!!!

9 OUT SAVE!!!!@

If it were Game 7, I’d do it.

If Mo gets into trouble, then what?

Brazilian Yankee says:

Comon Andy, don’t let them get any closer…

Riddering says:

That sucked.

Ah, well. We’ll just have to get those back next inning.

Ivan says:

Howard: On time FAIL!!!!

PsiFighter37 says:

Fuckitall. I guess you can’t keep Howard down forever. Hairston looked completely lost out in left.

Dela G says:

aight, we get out of this

we got this shit

Alright, Andy. Bear down. Keep it where it is. You’ve got this.

aa says:

why would you throw howard a fastball? he can’t hit fastballs.

aa says:

agh i mean breaking balls form lefties.

Riddering says:

6.2 innings, 3ERs.

Beautiful.

Riddering says:

Agh, reply fail strikes again!

BronxBomber44 says:

Nice power the other way by Howard.

Joker, The says:

Brazilian Yankee says:

Gotta believe Ibanez is Andy’s last batter.

Riddering says:

Very nice comeback for Andy!

89 pitches, I’d pull Andy soon.

IIRC, I think he hasn’t fully rested between starts, but I’m not sure about that.

Vinny the Bull says:

Ryan Howard has joined the World Series, about 5.5 games too late.

Jay says:

Kee-rhist…..Howard walked like he hit the ball out of the stadium. What at an ass.

Salty Buggah says:

That was a stat-padding HR BTW

Chef says:

so what should howard do there to try and mount a come back with 4 innings left?

Yanks 4 Life says:

Andy with the bounce back.
I’m luvin it!!

Ivan says:

If Pettitte goes 6 IP of 3 run ball, gotta sign up for that considering the circumstances.

Chef says:

i thought “smart” veteran pitchers don’t walk guys… i can live with solo homers. big deal.

if utely and howard hit solo homers back to back. fine.

but walking a guy in front of howard? dumb.

Bobtaco says:

aa says:

Salty Buggah says:

Cmon Joba. One more.

Brazilian Yankee says:

Great job Andy! A lot more than what we could have hoped for.

cjc says:

great job on short rest Andy

*applause*

See you next year, Andy.

We love you, Andy. No matter what, we love you.

dkidd says:

seems like a million years ago andy beat smoltz 1-0

he’s a warrior

Jake H says:

Good pitch, just the batter beating him.

Doug says:

NYTraveller says:

Great job Andy! Time for Joba to erase that last memory vs. Feliz.

Girardi out to the mound says:

Joe West finally has his impact on the game by handing that walk to Utley.

It is unbelievable what Andy did tonight on 3 days rest with an absolutely minuscule strike zone.

AJ says:

Great start by Andy tonight. You couldn’t have asked for anything more.

Now the bullpen has to shut it down. 1 1/3 innings until Mo comes in.

Plus the offense is still hitting, so my confidence level is +100

Ivan says:

Oh well to bad Andy couldn’t make it out of the 6th, lets go Chamberlain.

ansky says:

Thanks for the Great start Andy.

Remember when Charlie Manuel said Andy was just like any other aging pitcher?…yeah, those were good times.
