Interview at New York State of Sports

By

Just a heads up, I did a short interview with New York State of Sports, a relatively new site dedicated to all things New York sports. We discussed the outfield situation, Jorge Posada‘s problem with throwing out baserunners, Jesus Montero, and Derek Jeter‘s next contract, among other things. Make sure you check it out, it’s a quick read.

  1. You’re an “exclusive” and a “privilege”, Mike. Straight big-timin’, yo. You’re a celebutante.

Don’t worry, we’ll always take you for granted and brutally insult and disrespect you to keep you in line.

  2. NYSOS: So far, base runners have been successful in stolen base attempts against Jorge Posada. Is this something to worry about moving forward?

Mike: Yes and no. If Posada wasn’t hitting and the pitchers were doing poorly, then yeah it would be a big problem. But Jorge’s hitting and the starters have been unbelievable so far, so it’s not much of a concern. Would it be nice if he threw out 30-40% of baserunners? Sure. But I’m not going to lose sleep over it when the Yankees have a 1.000+ OPS catcher and a staff full of strikeout pitchers.

Translation: The Yankees obviously don’t care about defense.

Three years, $65 mil for Jeter and I’ll be happy.
