ALDS Game Three Spillover Thread

Just another thread to keep the site moving along.

Categories : Game Threads, Playoffs

  1. Kuroda’s been caught napping a couple times, but he’s not the chief culprit in this game right now. It’s this shit-tastic Yankee offense.

    Wake the hell up already.

  2. Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle says:

Hopefully this Spillover can start with some offense?

  3. Electric nunez says:

This is our inning 5 runs coming up

  4. Wil Nieves Number 1 Fan says:

  5. Eddard reboot v.1.0 says:

I think that Machado HR might turn out to be the game loser. They can’t hit Gonzalez and even if they could he only needs to go 2 more to get into O’Day, Matusz, Johnson. You ain’t gonna get to Johnson twice.

  6. TheSaint says:

How many times in one year can we be shut down by a 28 year old rookie?

  7. King George says:

New thread, new offense! Man, I’m so bummed. I know we all are. I mean, this just doesn’t look like that same legit, 95-win team. Come on guys. Offense. Get the bats going.

  8. Mikey Bronx says:

This team is poorly constructed. Thank your two-timing GM for this masterpiece. BYE BYE YANKEES! BYE BYE!

  9. MannyGeee says:

    It’s time. Let’s go

  10. Clone Rivera it's not illegal yet says:

Ok so ground to 1st, k and k.

  11. Clone Rivera it's not illegal yet says:

Ok so ground to 1st, k and k.

  12. Wil Nieves Number 1 Fan says:

LOL these guys are still sitting fastball.

  13. Tom says:

They’ll get that back. I think it will take at least 4 runs to win this game.

The key is to get to Gonzalez, not the “get his pitch count up and get to the bullpen” approach. They should be swinging at first pitch fastballs in the zone and going up the middle like Swisher and Jeter did.

  14. Electric nunez says:

Bunt it down left field line jesys

  15. Dan says:

The team are front runners. They don’t produce as well when there’s pressure and scrutiny.

  16. Awesomo says:

    HUGE POP UP!!!

  17. Clone Rivera it's not illegal yet says:

What the hell kind of poll is that? How can you vote for tie?

    • MannyGeee says:

It’s America, you can vote for ANYTHING! Oops, sorry… Forgot, no politics

      • jjyank says:

Anything? Fuck it, then. I vote for #28, world peace, a new job for myself, price cuts at the liquor store, better umpires, the Buick commercial chick for my next girlfriend, and the second coming of Mickey Mantle.

  18. Joe says:

    Misses another meatball

  19. Mikey Bronx says:

    More overswinging. Another pop out.

    Terrible team. No chance.

  20. MannyGeee says:

Flaherety looked awful unsure on that one

  21. Karl Krawfid says:

    3-1 pop up.

    This game feels over already.

  22. Bartolo's Colon says:

i give him 4 pitches this time

  23. Awesomo says:

    Strike out!

  24. TheSaint says:

Not sure what is more exciting… 5 more years of Arod or 4 more of Tex

  25. SammySosasBleachingCream says:

Oh good. Tex is back to being Mr. Popup.

  26. Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle says:

ugh…this is getting sad to watch. Tex of a few years ago launches that ball into the second deck..now it’s a weak pop up.

    • Knoxvillain says:

Just go drink. I would if I could right now.

      • jjyank says:

Might be the best course of action. One I’ve already taken, but I don’t work until 10, so it’s not so bad. The playoffs are terrible for my liver.

  27. cjc says:

trademark popup this lineup gets real old real old

  28. King George says:

Ugh, Tex. Pop up on a 3-1 count?

  29. Awesomo says:

Then martin will hit a double.

  30. BigBlueAL says:

Yankee offense has done shit this series vs this rotation.

  31. Clone Rivera it's not illegal yet says:

    Wow just wow

  32. Dan says:

Favorite Yankees loss pattern right now would be to give up another run, then score one, then end up losing by one. They’ve done it a ton this year.

  33. Knoxvillain says:

    Granderson didn’t K? He’s getting better.

  34. Dan says:

Yeah but you can’t leave lollipops to their 8 and 9 hitters.

  35. cjc says:

there is just no juice anywhere what home field advantage its dead quite the lineup looks dead its actually bordering on boring

  36. Mikey Bronx says:

Granderson. Top five most overpaid players in baseball. The Yankees own three of the top five. ARod and Tex appreciate your support.

  37. MannyGeee says:

I honestly think O’Day will be the victim tonight

  38. MannyGeee says:

Russell trying to get his paycheck on!

  39. Russell Martin is the only Yankee who can hit this schmuck.

  40. Clone Rivera it's not illegal yet says:

Figures. The guy who hit .200 all year kills it in the playoffs.

  41. Awesomo says:

Why the Hell isn’t martin and Raul hitting further up the lineup? The two guys who actually did something the last month…

  42. Athenian says:

    It’s team!

  43. cjc says:

    now chavez launches one

  44. Bartolo's Colon says:

the martin/chavez/jeter trifecta may be our only hope

  45. Electric nunez says:

Wow nice call smoltz setting up the strike out that wasnt

  46. Tom says:

Smoltz saying Gonzalez command is why the Yankees are missing fastballs right down the middle? Because they are off balance from the times he does hit his spots?

    Really Smoltz?

  47. Mike N says:

You are in trouble when Martin is your best hitter.

  48. King George says:

If you told me a week ago that Martin would be the most reliable hitter in this series, I’d have slapped you.

  49. Gonzalez has thrown 17.2 innings against this Yankee team. He has allowed five whole runs. A 2.55 ERA. Fucking sickening.

  50. Need Pitching & Hitting says:

Ball 4. Help him out some more.

  51. Electric nunez says:

Former alstars reserves… Stewart gardner nix ibanez nunez
    Cal really has no clue

  52. SammySosasBleachingCream says:

  53. Mick taylor says:

Is n’t nice to see arod do crap for the yanks but his protege manny machado who he gives his pearls of wisdom to hits a home run against us and wtf is Tex doing swinging awa twice at ball 4

  54. Eddard reboot v.1.0 says:

Great play of Chavez, Joe. Hell, at least he worked a full count. That’s more than you can say for everyone else except Jeter and Martin. Maybe those two should hit 3-4.

  55. BigBlueAL says:

Tough at-bat by Ibanez. Oh thats right he is on the bench tonight with a RHP starting.

  56. True blue says:

  57. Mikey Bronx says:

Bye, Chavez. One dimensional approach = One and done.

  58. MannyGeee says:

You think Buck over/under manages this one and leaves him in too long?

  59. Pat D says:

I think I’m not going to watch Game 4, either way. This is just starting to fuck with my health.

  60. SammySosasBleachingCream says:

The number of Yankees hitters who can no longer tee off on 90 mph fastballs right down the middle… is scary.

  61. Tom says:

    Ball four. Ugh…

A high changeup should not fool a hitter that badly – I could see swinging at something in the dirt (where the change starts in the zone) if you are sitting fastball, but that pitch should have looked really high out of his hand.

  62. TomH says:

All the “scrubs” and AAAA cracks about the O’s lineup are becoming increasingly laughable. At this point in the series, they’re beginning to look like the better team, younger, quicker, more resilient. The Yankees are looking every bit their collective age.

  63. Awesomo says:

Girardi looks at stats over the entire season too much. Players get hot and cool off. Ride the hot bat when it’s hot. Move Martin up, and play Raul or we’re done.

  64. Chilango says:

Yanks are getting bent over in da Bronx. The best 95 wins a losing team can buy

  65. Eddard reboot v.1.0 says:

It’s all set up for Buck now. Gonzalez for one more, Matusz for Swisher, Teixera, Granderson, O’Day for Alex and Johnson to close. That Machado HR was the game loser, probably the series loser.

  66. asdf says:

In truth, this is a 12-year problem for the Yankees in terms of postseason offensive malaise, with 2009 looking like the exception. I feel like every year the Yanks are bounced out of the playoffs because the team goes cold once the calendar turns to October.

  67. stuart a says:

if i hear tip my cap, he had us off balance crap after the game i will throw up.

this guy is not justin verlander, he got chavez out on a 80 mph ball 4.

so when you get beat by machado and flaherty your team sucks.

arod another great ab…don’t move him down in the order it will affect his pysche and he will really go into a slump.

the guy has about 4 extra base hits in a month…

  68. pistol pete says:

Watching the Yankees of today makes you really appreciate just how good and how professional those teams of the late 90′s were when they just steamrolled teams and continued to advance nearly every year. From 96 to 2001 they won 15 series and lost just 2, incredible.

    • Ethan says:

Makes me wish I were a few years older so I could have appreciated it in its entirety.

    • BigBlueAL says:

Plus 4 of those series were sweeps and 5 of them they only lost 1 game. I admit those teams definitely spoiled me.

  69. Clone Rivera it's not illegal yet says:

That’s what they needed. LETS GO NOW IS THE TIME!

  70. Tom says:

    Nice inning.

Time for the bats to come alive.

  71. King George says:

Can we maybe get a lead off runner on? Is that asking too much?!

  72. MannyGeee says:

Nice inning there. Not gonna say it. Not. Gonna. Do. It……

  73. stuart a says:

nothing like getting your ass kicked by a bunch of misfits in your home ballpark in queit.

what a show they are putting on.

the guy has thrown 75 pitches… 3 starts and they still have no clue against greg maddux…..what a joke…………

tex has the whole left side open so what does he do; load up on the back leg and pops out weakly to short rightfield…DISGRaCE.

    • TomH says:

“Misfits” your ass! They’re the superior team and have been so since the ASG. Their future is looking very bright.

That of the Yankees may be behind them.

  74. Hans Moleman says:

    Nice inning HIRO.

  75. Sabathia: 8 IP, 2 ER
    Pettitte: 7 IP, 3 ER
    Kuroda: 6 IP, 2 ER

That’s 21 innings, and only 7 ER from the starting pitchers. It’s high time the fucking bats did their job.

  76. Monterowasdinero says:

We need a spark from Nunez and Gardy. Speed is the need to wake us from our coma. The long ball will fail us.

  77. jjyank says:

…Charlie Sheen is doing Fiat commercials now? Haha.

  78. pistol pete says:

Quick 6th for Kuroda, we need some offense.

  79. Athenian says:

Man, this team. I can’t wait for the real Yankees to show up. Abysmal.

  80. The Troll says:

I see the offense is, once again, non-existent. How many times is this going to happen in the postseason before something’s actually done about it?

  81. Awesomo says:

    A-rod 3 run homerun.

  82. Monterowasdinero says:

2 rookies, # 8 and 9 hitters hit their first post season HR’s and neither is a HR hitter.

    69 Mets anyone?

  83. Dan says:

Free and easy Yanks, just relax. Even if we lose tonight we’ll have another good chance tomorrow. If we lose three in a row we don’t really deserve to move on.

  84. Let that be the start of something big here.

  85. Mike N says:

    Bring him home!!!!!!

  86. King George says:

    Nice, DJ

  87. Knoxvillain says:

Pinch hit for fucking A-Rod. Please. I would love to see that.

  88. Electric nunez says:

Ichy goes deep i am calling it

  89. MannyGeee says:

    Jeter making it look easy……….

    Get some hits strung together!!!!!

  90. Joe says:

If ichiro gets on bunt arod.

  91. Pete says:

    Offseason plan: Clone Jeter.

  92. Andrew says:

I want a drag bunt from Ichiro right now, thats how little faith I have in the offense

  93. It nearly took only one pitch for this shit to implode completely.

  94. SammySosasBleachingCream says:

    Lucky break.

  95. Joe says:

Hey ichiro that’s arods job u don’t do the dp thing

  96. MannyGeee says:

    Now Alex… Do some shit

  97. Pete says:

    I’m actually rooting for a K just so he doesn’t ground into a DP…

  98. Chilango says:

Run Ichi before ARod hits into the DP

  99. King George says:

    What will Alex do here?

  100. Ivan says:

Ok A-Rod Make something happen…..Let the force be with you!!!

  101. Tom says:

Wow, even at 58 years old Ichiro still gets down the line like few people in baseball.

That looked like a routing DP.

  102. Clone Rivera it's not illegal yet says:

Well here we go. A-Rod can erase everything…..

  103. Awesomo says:

  104. Athenian says:

Joe, great job keeping the line up the same. Working out real well. Please do us a favor and pull a Jim Tracy and resign.

  105. SammySosasBleachingCream says:

ARod needs to stop channeling David Justice in the 2001 series.

  106. Clone Rivera it's not illegal yet says:

    That was the pitch….

  107. Electric nunez says:

Segar no camera time must be pimpin it again with the threads

  108. Monterowasdinero says:

Thank God Ich can run to keep ARod from making the last out of this inning.

  109. Mike N says:

  110. Clone Rivera it's not illegal yet says:

    No way. Of freaking way

  111. Strike out some more, Alex.

  112. MannyGeee says:

O fuck you…. Just the tip went around…. Goddammit.

  113. Knoxvillain says:

I’m not even mad anymore. I just hope A-Rod never plays again. I’d rather have him retire tomorrow than have the Yankees win the World Series for the next ten years.

  114. Ivan says:

Ok this is getting ugly for Alex….he cant be this fucking bad right?!?!

  115. JonS says:

So…who wants to blame the hand?

  116. Chilango says:

When is Girardi going to flat out bench this fuckface?

  117. MannyGeee says:

    Gimme some Cano please

  118. Widget says:

Letting A-Rod still bat 3rd should be a fireable offense. Girardi is a total moron.

  119. Need Pitching & Hitting says:

    Swing at fucking strikes please.

  120. King George says:

  121. MannyGeee says:

  122. yanks says:

this offense is just an embarrassment

  123. Mike N says:

    That was disgusting.

  124. Hans Moleman says:

Not. One. Pitch. In. The. Zone.

  125. Andrew says:

Not one pitch in the zone, not one pitch

  126. Clone Rivera it's not illegal yet says:

Not a single pitch in the zone. They are all pressing.

  127. BigBlueAL says:

Now Cano sucks. Only Jeter and Martin can hit now apparently.

  128. Ivan says:

    Omg Cano!

  129. Need Pitching & Hitting says:

Pathetic AB Robbie. Not a single strike.

Hitting .182 for the series now.

  130. Bartolo's Colon says:

if you are booing arod, you have to boo cano. he is horrible this series, and is rarely even thrown a strike

  131. Awesomo says:

Maybe they should only give out 1-2 year contracts from now on since that seems to be the only people getting hits.

  132. King George says:

Honest question: Given what this team has done tonight with the current lineup, would we see anything WORSE if Joe had shuffled the lineup around?

    • Bartolo's Colon says:

no, arod, swish, grandy, and tex are playing scared at this point. that or miguel gonzalez is now awesome. i can’t see him doing this next year, but good for the o’s.

  133. SammySosasBleachingCream says:

Simply pathetic. There’s no other way to put it. We shouldn’t be surprised. All year long this team has demonstrated the ability to make any scrub pitchers look like vintage Greg Maddux.

  134. Eddard reboot v.1.0 says:

Cano could have stood up there and taken a 4 pitch walk. It’s over, folks. Buck can stay with Gonzalez which I would. Or he can bring in Matusz to strike out Swisher, Teixera and Granderson. Then go to O’Day’s frisbee for the bottom of the order. Then go to Johnson to strike out A-Rod for the last out. Martin blew it when he called that 1st pitch slider to Machado. He lost the game and probably the series.

  135. Chilango says:

It’s not their fault. They just keep facing CY Young candidates

  136. The Troll says:

Is anyone actually surprised by the offensive ineptitude? They do this every postseason of late . . . A few guys hit while the rest of the roster goes cold. To be honest, I’m not even mad anymore and I haven’t been in a while. I just expected it to be this way.

  137. cjc says:

boo Alex all they want if their names not Jeter or Martin they all suck right now every last one of them

  138. stanley a says:

Leadoff man hits a single, 2-3-4 hitters proceed to hit into a fielders choice, K, and K.

Sometimes you just have to tip your cap to the future hall of famer on the mound for the Orioles. He’s been through a lot to get here you know!

  139. Tom says:

Cano did not see a single pitch in the zone.

The Yankee lefties need to stop trying to pull everythingh. He is feeding them pitches off the plate and they are still trying to yank them to the short porch.

    • stuart a says:

they are a all or nothing team that never adjusts… they cannot hit good pitching they beat up on middle relief…..

  140. Athenian says:

Sorry all. This team is done. Baltimore will win tonight and tomorrow, regardless if it is CC or Hughes is pitching.

  141. True blue says:

Everyone except Jeter and Martim need to apologize to the starting staff. This is embarrassing

  142. stuart a says:

    cano swung at 4 balls.

    arod with another bad ab.

jsut imagine 5 more years of this piece of shit.

    he is a joke…..bat him 6th…..this team is a bully team…

they cannot come up big in tight spots…. they fold, they wet the bed..

they are losing to a team of misfits, who is coming into their house and laughing at the team and the fans…………..

this is a opera house, it is that queit….

  143. Pasqua says:

Yankees Postseason Baseball: We Make 2-1 Feel Like 20-1!

  144. Ethan says:

The offense just looks like they don’t care at all. Showing no emotion at all. You play 162 games for this, how about a little heart?

    • Pasqua says:

They obviously care, but I think it’s probably fairer to assume that, as each guy fails, the next guy feels even more responsibility to succeed. This probably leads to pressing, and that leads to more outs. Vicious circle.

  145. Eddard reboot v.1.0 says:

I’d blow up the whole team if they lose. Obviously keep guys who are producing in the postseason like Jeter and Martin. See if the Dodgers will take Alex and Teix. Trade Granderson. Re-sign Ichiro. Let Swisher walk. They need guys in here who can hit in the postseason.

    • Rivera Venue Blues says:

The Dodgers are not a dumpster. Like it or not, we’re pretty much stuck with Alex and Teix for the near future.

    • stuart a says:

you are out of your mind. the dodgers will take tex to play where? you ever hear of a guy named agon?

arod cannot be traded. he is hated and he sucks… that is the hank steinbrenner gift that keeps on giving…

ichiro i 39.. you are out of your mind…..

    • Pasqua says:

I do wonder if a series loss means trouble for Girardi. I’m not one of the Joe haters, but he’s drawn a line in the sand by not moving A-Rod and announcing Hughes as the next starter (regardless of situation). He’s sticking his neck out…wonder if it will come back to haunt him.

    • Need Pitching & Hitting says:

Ichiro is hitting .231 this series.

    • Widget says:

Tex has a no trade clause, so get use to seeing him.

  146. Pat D says:

One more inning and if I’m not happy, I’m pulling a Harry Truman on Election Day 1948.

  147. Miguel Gonzalez has a 2.42 ERA at Yankee Stadium this year, and these assholes can’t touch him tonight for the THIRD FUCKING TIME this season.

  148. Cy Pettitte says:

they look exactly like Texas did in their last game. I’m done with this game.

  149. Widget says:

another 1st round exit and nobody will lose their jobs over it. Instead all you’ll hear is “it’s the playoffs, anything can happen”. So sick of watching them make fools of themselves in the first round, unless they play the Twins of course.

    • Pasqua says:

Hey, I’m not optimistic at this moment either, but presuming the series loss is a wee bit premature at this point.

  150. Dale Mohorcic says:

the yankees will bring the tying run to the plate in this game.

  151. Awesomo says:

Need to sign a team full of 40 year olds next season on 1 year deals that have nothing to lose.

  152. ItWasaThing says:

My desire to see this team win because I’m a Yankee fan has been superseded by my desire to see the Yankees win so everyone saying “dahhh they can’t win, its over” will be wrong. You people being wrong is all I want in the world right now.

  153. Anthony says:

So far just another game where Kuroda gets no run support.

  154. Mike N says:

Please let’s keep this a one run game.

  155. Awesomo says:

    Jeter is limping BAD….

  156. Bartolo's Colon says:

why are fans so fucking dumb, he almost bartman’d that one

  157. Knoxvillain says:

Was Cal serious about getting pissed for hitting 8th in the 2001 ASG? He should go fuck himself.

    • Awesomo says:

Either way he should. He’s terrible announcing. Sounds like a self consumed douche most the time.

    • stuart a says:

batting arod 8th is stupid and insulting.

bat him 6th. no biggie better for the team and he needs to jsut deal with it.

girardi will not he is stubborn beyond belief.

hit some guys based on how they are doing…swisher has bat in like 6 spots thsi year. sometimes 2nd and soemtimes 5th, it should not matter to the player, whatever helps the team.

  158. MannyGeee says:

That dude almost went all Bartman on Chavez. Dick

  159. Angry Scheister of K's says:

Glad to see Hughes (Kuroda) settle down and Cliff Lee (O’s rookie) shut down the bombers. It this goes on to be an L, chances Yanks start CC tomorrow?

    • King George says:

Joe already said CC will absolutely not start. Let’s see if he’s throwing out bullshit…just like his lineup.

  160. Mikey Bronx says:

    • Awesomo says:

You are right. I will leave now :(

      • Mikey Bronx is an old fixture from ESPN, and I mean an old fixture going back to the late ’90s.

Only people who have been at ESPN for any period of time will be familiar with him. I, for one, am actually amazed that he has landed at the RAB grounds.

  161. Obviously, my wish to see this team bomb Gonzalez third time around was way, WAY too optimistic.

  162. Electric nunez says:

    Skoal !!!!

  163. Monterowasdinero says:

    Oakland starting 3rd rookie.

    Great future with miniscule payroll.

    • Tom says:

Meh… let’s give it more than year.

Seattle looked real good a while ago (08?), added Cliff Lee and Chone Figgins and… well that didn’t work out too well for them.

  164. Ethan says:

Empty seats in the stadium in a playoff game. Screw you ownership.

  165. Starting pitching ERA is now 2.86 in this series.

Time for the bats to do their goddamn jobs. Heinous.

  166. Bartolo's Colon says:

absolutely amazing pitching this series, blows me away that the offense is doing everything it can do to waste it

  167. Pasqua says:

On the bright side…if Pettitte and Kuroda re-sign, the rotation will be FANTASTIC next year!

    High-five, guys?

  168. Tom says:

Have faith folks. Kuroda has made a couple of mistakes, but he has pitched a hell of a game.

I still see someone running into a pitch – the only question is will there be someone on when it happens.

  169. BigBlueAL says:

Yankee starting pitching has been great this series (hold breath for Hughes tomorrow).

  170. Clone Rivera it's not illegal yet says:

Is that a new front row over there?

  171. Andrew says:

I was at the Nats game this afternoon and down 8-0 the crowd was louder than the one in new york, this is pitiful

  172. Eddard reboot v.1.0 says:

In 23 innings this great and powerful offense has scored 5 runs. They had one good inning. Andy and Kuroda have held the Os to 5 runs and this great and powerful offense couldn’t do a damn thing against Bruce Chen and Mike Gonzalez. Someone has to go if they lose.

  173. Mike N says:

Can we score some fucking runs now!?

  174. Mick taylor says:

I really feel like watching a tape of the 1998.yanks especially o’neil and straw and bros ious if cano is the best hitter in baseball why is he swinging At 4 straight balls. What would George say if he were around.

  175. Monterowasdinero says:

    pinch hit Ibanez for ARod

  176. youngmanalex says:

swisher looked like he just said, get that camera out of my face…

  177. Pete says:

So let me get this straight, we banged our heads against the wall ALL year long because of the RISP failings, and yet somehow we have fresh anger right now?

To me this is just a continuation of what went on before. I’m not shocked…

  178. Bartolo's Colon says:

no outs no one oin, i like this spot for swish

  179. Awesomo says:

They’ll wait till the 9th inning to work a couple good at bats/walks, and then they will piss it all away striking out leaving guys on base. They do it all the time.

  180. When the hell did Miguel Gonzalez’s changeup become the best in baseball?

  181. Mike N says:

Our cat is staring me down for some reason.

  182. Electric nunez says:

    Right down the middle
    Fuck you swisher

  183. Awesomo says:

swish tex grandy = strike out, pop out, strike out.

  184. Monterowasdinero says:

Splits and changeups shut us down unless it’s ARod in which case only inside fbs are needed.

  185. Chilango says:

Swisher doesn’t suck. Gonzalez is throwing 100. The gun is off.

  186. Miguel Gonzalez has a paltry 5.87 K/9 against rest of MLB. Against the Yankees? 9.0.

  187. BigBlueAL says:

1-2 count and Swisher swings out of his shoes trying to jack a pitch down and in.

  188. Monterowasdinero says:

Gardy and Nunez must play tomorrow.

  189. Mikey Bronx says:

  190. Clone Rivera it's not illegal yet says:

What the hell is Swisher smiling at?

  191. The Real Greg says:

Again, how did this team win 95 games ans score so many runs?

  192. Hans Moleman says:

    Tie it Curtis

  193. Tom says:

Keep swinging for the fences boys… no need to shorten up the swing and maybe take the ball up the middle or the other way.

  194. Brandon Mauk says:

Gonzalez is not good. We’re making him look like Halladay. This is absolutely pathetic

  195. Monterowasdinero says:

    Miguel Gonzalez-Cy Young

  196. cjc says:

oh look ball in the dirt grandy 0-2

  198. Kevin G. says:

    Great at-bats, assholes

  199. Awesomo says:

  200. Need Pitching & Hitting says:

    Awful AB’s.

Maybe try just swinging at strikes.

  201. Cy Pettitte says:

I can’t believe these assholes. this is pathetic.

  202. Mike N says:

    Fuck this damn pitcher.

  203. Pat D says:

    This is just unbefuckinglievable.

  204. Pasqua says:

  205. Joe B says:

Paul O’Neill would strike out in a one-run game and go to the dugout and fume. Swisher sort of laughs awkwardly. And A-Rod shows no emotion. That right there is the difference in attitude between those teams and this one.

    • Pasqua says:

Paul O’Neill was an anger-prone maniac. Nick Swisher is a happy-go-lucky showboat. One has nothing to do with the other. Smiling creates as many runs as throwing a water cooler.

  206. Eddard reboot v.1.0 says:

LOL! Did anyone see Swisher’s face after he struck out? A great big smile. If Paulie were here he’d be throwing bats and yelling at himself. These guys don’t give a shit, folks. Nobody does except Jeter.

  207. Chris says:

For sale. 2 tickets to this nonsense tomorrow night.

  208. xnyles says:

Damn Curtis. Are you swinging with your eyes close?

  209. King George says:

Holy shit, I’ve seen better at bats from Little Leaguers. Good work, Kurtis.

  210. pistol pete says:

Wow, we’re going down like flies.

  211. Bartolo's Colon says:

granderson blows arod away in sucking today. gonzalez could have literally thrown an underhanded lob, and granderson would have missed.

  212. Widget says:

Can’t wait for them to get rid of Granderson. He must be blind, only thing that can explain why he swings at total garbage.

Fire Long please, he has done nothing.

  213. Psy says:

    King Miguel Gonzalez

  214. BigBlueAL says:

The Yankees have looked bad plenty of times in the postseason the past few years but this is by far the most embarrassing they have ever looked.

  215. Awesomo says:

I’m about to hulk out like a 8 year old with frustration here.

  216. DZ says:

So prior to these playoffs I was one of the few people who never really thought that the yankees were not able to hit good pitching, or get clutch hits (basically choking), but now I’m kind of starting to believe it. This team just isn’t going to win titles the way they’re constructed. I think they should trade granderson and resign swish and Ichiro. Move gardner to center and you have a sick defensive outfield who don’t strike out all that much (gardner and ichi).

We finally have the rotation we’ve been asking for for years.

1-5 we’re really solid at least for next season (assuming 1 of andy or kuroda come back next year). We need to get guys who don’t depend on the long ball to do damage. Even if it’s only removing grandy i think it would even out the lineup as a whole.

    • stuart a says:

next season. kuroda is 37, pettitte is 40.. you are dreaming …

      blow the shit up………..

      • DZ says:

All you need is one of the two, not both. Kuroda has been incredibly affected and Pettitte has exceeded all of my expectations as well and I don’t see how one more season would make them either ineffective.

  217. Andrew says:

Slowly becoming really okay with not keeping Granderson after next year

  218. Hummingbird S. says:

if you throw anything that looks like a changeup, you can dominate this shitty team

  219. Dan says:

I really just want to punch most of these hitters in the face right now. Especially Swisher, Grandy, and Arod.

  220. They’ve let Miguel Gonzalez come into this ballpark three separate times this year, and shut them down three times. ERA of 2.30. K/BB of 25/1. K/9 of 9.15.

    High priced group of failures.

    • The Real Greg says:

Then how did they win 95 games? How can be they be failures and have the best record in the American League. Where’s the logic?

      • They had the best record in the AL last year, and look where it got them.

What this offense is doing to their pitching staff is a fucking crime. Sabathia, Pettitte, and Kuroda have all pitched their fucking tails off. Their reward will be a 2-1 series deficit with Home Run Phil going tomorrow against a lineup that hits tons of home runs.

This team has been one-and-done as the AL #1 seed two of the past three times, and will be in danger of making it three of four, and twice in a row. I’m still bitter about 2011, I don’t need to double that going into 2012, ESPECIALLY in regards to a division rival. Last thing Orioles fans need is some kind of trump card after 15 years of total irrelevance.

  221. toad says:

    This is pathetic.

Can somebody get a hit, please, or maybe a walk?

  222. Mick taylor says:

You notice no one refers to Kevin long anymore as some kind of genius . Where is he inthis game . The way granderson just struck out it almost looks like this team was paid off by Vegas bookies to lose it was so bad

  223. Eddard reboot v.1.0 says:

    Tomorrow’s lineup vs Joe Saunders-

  224. The Real Greg says:

How did this team win the WS in 2009 with the exact same strategy? With the same manager, the same pitching coach, and mostly the same players?

  225. stuart a says:

no… this is a train wreck..
i think swisher wet his pants.

grandersons post game bullshit should be extra large after this game…

tex has not hit in the playoffs in 4 years. then again he has not hit in the last 3 regualr seasons… another fuckin bum. overpaid, hack… loading up on his back leg etc….

  226. Monterowasdinero says:

The only card Girardi can play is ARod was hiding an injury. MRI time in a few days will reveal a reaggravated finger that ARod played through with. Thought he could tough it out but it affected his timing yada yada.

    Get ready for it.

  227. Tom says:

You’d think the TBS would at least acknowledge Kuroda when he’s on the mound, but apparently it’s all Gonzalez all the time.

  228. Mike T says:

The Yanks go nowhere until they fire Cashman. He is the architect of this aging, inflexible lineup with long term contracts that will plague us for years. Add in the fact that the minor league system is bereft of any major league ready talent (he traded legitimate young star in Jackson and Montero) and we are stuck with this mess for years.

  229. Pete says:

Oh good, Gonzalez is out of the game. Time to foolishly get our hopes up.

  230. JoeyA says:

Amazing how, all year, many of us have talked about how offense runs dry in the post season & HRs can’t carry you. The fact you need guys who can do more than walk & hit HRs.

Others, including many who run this site, like to claim conventional wisdom regarding postseason offense as false, pointing out throughout the season whenever the NYY would hit a HR off a premier SP & other instances citing how this offense can get it done.

Yet, here we are, with a completely overmatched offense that has 0 HRs, 2 BBs & 3 runs last 2 games so far. But they scored 800+ runs & hit 245 HRs so, ya know, let’s ignore that nobody sans Cano & Jeter can actually hit & Cano, every now and again decides to swing at every pitch like its a HR derby. We are relying on Ichiro as our main offensive weapon.

    This offense needs a makeover.

    • The Real Greg says:

But how did they score 800+ runs facing these teams all year?

    • Andrew says:

But the O’s are okay even though today all their runs are from the homerun

      • JoeyA says:

A no name 2B who ran into a FB, something most our offense can’t do, & a 20yr old w great bat speed who isn’t guessing on almost every pitch.

The O’s haven’t been great offensively this game either.

But my point remains: many of the issues the offense is having right now are issues many here have pointed out throughout the season & I, as well as others I’m sure, didn’t let #allthedamnhomeruns distract us from the fact that come Oct. guys would press & go cold. Am I a fucking psychic because I’d like to use my powers for my 401K? It isn’t rocket science & I don’t claim to know more than the next guy regarding baseball, but we ALL saw this coming.

    • Chris says:

Especially if its home run derby circa 2012

  231. yanks says:

i cant remember ever hating a team as much as i hate this yankees team

  232. CS Yankee says:

Grandy worse than Soriano ’03 at swinging on balls in the dirt…Wish Teix would keep the back shoulder somewhat level and hit the top half of the ball…and Swish is decent in the early counts, bad as the count goes deep.

Need the bottom half of this lineup to come up big and save the day (or season)

  233. Joe says:

So which excuse will Joe use in post game?

  234. dc1874 says:

…and the noose gets tighter and tighter on the Yanks….

  235. ItWasaThing says:

(Current Yankee batting) IS THE WORST CHOKER IN THE LEAGUE! TRADE THEM! SIGN (other player from another team or AAA)!!! EVERY WIN THIS YEAR IS LUCK!!

Ok, I finally got the hang of it.

  236. stuart a says:

the yanks are losing the series and boone logan has not pitched in a game.

the yanks ahve used 1 reliever so far……

    there offense is offensive…….

  237. Awesomo says:

I would say nuke this team boston style but Jeter deserves better than to be left with a bunch of scrubs.

    • stuart a says:

bull.. the yanks owe jeter nothing.

      blow it up….

      young, athletic, and cheap…

      homerun lugs adios….

      • Pat D says:

You’ve already said how they can’t dump Teix and ARod, so please tell us how you’d blow it up?

  238. Big Member says:

wow….big member thinks he can strike out these yankees too…all he has to do is throw the ball far away….

kuroda needs to be blamed aswell however. he is not pitching to win. cc was pitching to win in game one and we won the game. if your not picthing to win, your team is not going to score runs. thats where the losses come from

  239. pistol pete says:

Yanks should have no runs, Jones should have easily caught Jeter’s fly ball triple, our offense is absolutely pathetic to this point.

  240. Chris says:

I will say it now. O’day pisses me off the most. Someone explain his motion and how by rule it is not a balk? Honestly. Isn’t it a balk? You can’t come to a set and then start rocking.

  241. youngmanalex says:

i accept defeat. our pitching was amazing, far better than what I thought. But we’re just not ready to dominate like we used to.

  242. Mike N says:

Kuroda has been outstanding this game. NOW SCORE SOME MOTHERFUCKING RUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  243. Need Pitching & Hitting says:

    Score some fucking runs please.

  244. youngmanalex says:

  245. Bartolo's Colon says:

hirok is not a playoff pitcher, he doesn’t know how to win

  246. Knoxvillain says:

Awesome job for Kuroda. I love that guy. Too bad the rest of the Yankees can’t carry his jockstrap this season.

  247. Eddard reboot v.1.0 says:

We’ve been saying all year, you are not going to hit 4 solo home runs a game in the postseason against good pitching. You just ain’t. You need to get contact hitters like Jeter. Anyone notice how Jeter is still hitting? Granderson swinging for the fences, Swisher swinging for the fences, Teixera swinging for the fences. They need to blow up this whole damn team.

    • Alexh says:

I agree. Yeah swisher gets on base but what good is a 2 out walk with a runner on 2nd so the 8th hitter can strike out

  248. Awesomo says:

Too many egos not enough eggos.

  249. Alexh says:

I’m so tired of the lackluster atmosphere at the new stadium. Can’t believe taxpayers paid for this shitty stockbroker palace

  250. Dan says:

Where’s the patience? Can we work some at bats? Is everyone trying to hit a fucking home run?

Terrible body language. Swisher shakes his head after STRIKE 1!, then sits there and lets a hanging breaking ball go by. Fucking man up pussies. Honestly that’s how i feel about this right now.

    • Pasqua says:

Gonzalez wasn’t missing. Movement and control. I’m not saying the Yanks have to “tip their cap” because they’re better than this, but you have to be realistic about the way Gonzalez pitched.

  251. BigBlueAL says:

Yankees this series so far have used 4 pitchers (3 SP and Robertson) and are 6 outs away from being down 2-1 in the series. Unbelievable.

  252. Pete says:

I have the feeling, as much as his name has been thrown around on TV, that Kevin Long will take the hit for this one. Should our offense continue at this pace and we lose the series, that is…

  253. Big Member says:

Giarardi is a stupid if he doesnt pincht hit ibanez for arod….

  254. Yankee SP ERA is now down to 2.74 in this series.

But as that number dips, so does this team’s own offensive stats. Kuroda made two first-pitch mistakes – those should not net him an L.

  255. sdjohn says:

Yup, just keep in mind there are many on here that will argue the same next year. We will pound mediocre pitching and everyone will saw, we score 800+ runs a season, offense is fine. But in reality, we were best when Bernie, Paul, Tino would lead a team with 25-30 (excluding Tino’s ridiculous 98 season) , but we could actually move runners over, get a key base hit and score runs without hitting home runs. Joey A, don’t waste your time trying to convince this group, because all year long, just like last year, and the year before, they don’t understand the game.

  256. Starks says:

Lol im laughing at u fans acting stunned that the yankees cant hit in the playoffs. What a surprise jeter is the only one. This offense is a pretty decent regular season offense but come playoff time when facing good pitching and more pressure on you they are crap. Save yourselves some frustration and expect them to lose this series and if they win it would be a pleasant surprise.

    • Dan says:

I agree with most of that, but you can’t expect them to lose to an inferior team! If we had pressed our advantage in game 2 and won it, there’s no way Gonzalez shuts us down tonight. Front runners.

    • Mikhel says:

If you saw Yankee games during the regular season, you’d know that they were one of the worst teams with men on base. Good when hitting homeruns, but really really bad when trying to score with singles and doubles.

  257. Eddard reboot v.1.0 says:

The results of next inning are already in-

    Martin – Single
    Chavez – Strikeout
    Jeter – Single
    Ichiro – Groundout
    Alex – Strikeout

  258. Dale Mohorcic says:

the tying run is at the plate.

  259. Chilango says:

Did anyone really expect a different outcome from the same overpaid, overhyped guys that choked lat year?

    • The Real Greg says:

Then how did they win in 2009?

And as I did, you shouldn’t be disappointed if you expected this.

This is why you never expect in sports.

  260. Dan says:

If we lose this series, Girardi gets 1 more year.

    • Mikhel says:

Nah, he’ll get at least 4-5 years. Torre’s last 5 years were awful and yet he kept “managing” the Yankees.

  261. Bartolo's Colon says:

i know that it is possible the yankees can score some runs, i just can’t see it happening. hopefully a new pitcher will turn our fortunes. arod-grandy have literally never looked worse in one game together

  262. Pat D says:

This board is ultra depressing during games like this. Especially when it’s the playoffs and so many new posters show up and do nothing but troll and/or bitch.

Then again, I’ve been bitching all night so how could one tell the difference.

    • Miguel Gonzalez, a AAAA schmuck his entire career, shut this team down for the third time in this ballpark this year, and this time in a crucial Game 3 of the playoffs.

Everyone has the right to bitch and moan. I’d be concerned if we weren’t.

      • Pat D says:

My point was that some people who do nothing BUT bitch and moan only show up at these times and it’s a tad annoying.

  263. Chris says:

    Balk. Un freaking real.

  264. And look at this: another one-run ballgame.

Would be shittingly appropriate for the Orioles to win again.

  265. Mick taylor says:

It is only a2-1 game so I really think arod should give his protege machado some more tips on how to beat the yanks. Say what you will about. Roger clemens but does anyone believe he would help opposing players in off season workouts especially in his own division

  266. Blaise says:

    5 more outs. Fuck.

  267. Bartolo's Colon says:

the o’s are 75-0 after leading 7, that would be cool if that could be changed tonight

  268. Hummingbird S. says:

5 outs to go… I don’t think we’ll see another baserunner. What a pathetic overpaid bunch.

  269. Blaise says:

Pop Up. 4 more outs. Fuck.

  270. BJ says:

Interesting – Chris Davis is out of the game. Is this defensive replacement and don’t score any more runs, or was there an injury?

  271. Cy Pettitte says:

I don’t even know why I’m watching this bullshit. they haven’t hit one ball hard all night.

  272. BigBlueAL says:

At least Arod cant make the last out of the game.

  273. Chris says:

Wow I didn’t know he was hurt that bad.

  274. cjc says:

I hate to admit defeat but they sure as shit don’t make it easy. Remember when O’day was released by the mets yeah that guy

  275. 101010 says:

What a bunch of fucking bums. The offense is an absolute embarrassment.

  276. Bartolo's Colon says:

yeah! the game can’t end with arod. by the way, please sub nix in for jeter at ss

  277. Dan says:

Yo guys we have fucking sucked this game LOL!

  278. Joe says:

Hurt jeter still better than worthless arod and swisher

  279. Tom says:

    Frisbee! Everyone drink.

  280. Blaise says:

  281. Dan says:

Was there only one inning with a RISP?

  282. Hans Moleman says:

I am starting to feel physically ill.

  283. Pat D says:

Let’s hear it for Dennis O’Bell!

  284. The Real Greg says:

They did go 1-2 with RISP, I think.

  285. Mike N says:

    Oh, man.

  286. Andy Pettitte's Fibula says:

    You heard it here 1st.

Arod redeems himself with a game tying 9th inning home run off Johnson.

  287. Eddard reboot v.1.0 says:

The results for next inning are already in-

    Ichiro- Weak pop fly
    A-Rod – Strikeout
    Swisher – Strikeout

    If anyone gets on-

    Teixera – Pop up
    Granderson – Strikeout

  288. SammySosasBleachingCream says:

Blow up this whole fucking team.

  289. The Real Greg says:

I think in this series they’ve gone 6-18 with RISP which is a .333 average. So that’s not the problem.

  290. Kevin G. says:

Are they even trying? Do they want to go home?

  291. Dan says:

I’m just glad I didn’t pay $3000 for a seat to this crap.

  292. BigBlueAL says:

    Nix is in at SS.

  293. Cuso says:

Jeter is in a lot of pain.

    We’re in real trouble.

  294. Alexh says:

i’m sorry but I have no faith in Hughes tomorrow

    • TheSaint says:

Hughes is the least of our concerns right now. At this point what’s the difference if he gives up 1 run or 99 tomorrow.

  295. Chilango says:

How many times does this have to happen before the FO changes the plan? I’d rather wait a few years for a young team to start contending than watch this pathetic shit.

    • The Real Greg says:

So you would accept some 72-90 teams in the next few years?

I will remind you of this if it happens.

      • CS Yankee says:

If it happened, I wouldn’t be reading this site for anything other than farm reports for the next three years.

Give Hamilton a one& done Boras special to redeem his worth & save NYY from the 2014 budget target. 1 year, 30M$. Book it, Cashman.

  296. Rich says:

I can’t wait until next year when the Orioles lose 90 games and be in last place again. This is a joke

  297. Blaise says:

I remember the good old days when the Yankees won World Series and Geico made awesome with motherfuckin cavemen. Not this banjo shit.

  298. Mike T says:

200 K’s this year for Granderson and Cashman will rush to sign him to a 5 year/$100 million deal.

  299. Awesomo says:

This is pretty much how last postseason went. Pickup grandys option, trade him, let swish go and go from there. I want to puke.

  300. sdjohn says:

Well at least everyone is taking their “A” swing tonight eh Mike? I mean, why cut down and try to string a couple base hits together? What’s the sense in that? Oh, to score runs and get a rally going? Doh. Oh maybe we can swing for the fences and hope to hit the HR like we’ve done 2 games in a row? How’d that work out?

  301. Eddard reboot v.1.0 says:

And now our best player can’t even play the field. He’ll have to DH tomorrow which means Nix will play and not Nunie.

  302. David N says:

And Jeter is out of the game. So…yay for that.

    This just flat out sucks.

  303. wow says:

this team’s dead. and it’s not getting any better. only older and slower. screw this team.

  304. Blaise says:

    CC on short rest tomorrow?

  305. aarpyanks says:

if soriano comes in he is going to blow up…i guess we can just turn the tv off.

  306. Big Member says:

    buttom of 9th

    Ichiro the Warrior- SINGLE
    A-Choke- K
    KANO- K

  307. Eddard reboot v.1.0 says:

Runs were at a premium tonight and Russell Martin called for a 1st pitch slider to Manny Machado after he had already seen Ryan Flaherty hit the slider out of the ballpark. Game over. Series over. Phil ain’t gonna win tomorrow and they wouldn’t score for him even if he pitched decent.

  308. CJ says:

Beautiful pitching performance by Kiroda marred by non-existent offense again!! A-Roid and Granderson have strained bats going back to the regular season!! Pretty sad that your pen has only thrown 17 pitches all series and your on the verge of being eliminated!!!!

  309. And Kuroda is probably going to get an L for this. This offensive shit the bed huge tonight.

  310. Andy Pettitte's Fibula says:

Cashman definitely needs to try and bring back Kuroda next year.

  311. Cuso says:

    Nice job, Hiroki.

I’m sorry (on behalf of the offense).

  312. cjc says:

Arod walk off who feels it

  313. Hans Moleman says:

    inb4 Thome homer

  314. Alexh says:

    2009 all over again?

  315. Tom says:

Not sure this is the spot where you just want to have a guy get work in.

    This should be Soriano.

  316. Pat D says:

Here’s a prediction for the bottom of the 9th.

    It will happen.

  317. Mick taylor says:

If I were the yanks I would move the fences backout right field and maybe left to force these hitters to stop swi ging for the short porch and learn how to hit again. Look what has happened to
To grandy and Tex batting averages since joining the yanks. I also blame Kevin long for this and I Would move the fence back out in left like the old stadium but not as much and load up on lefty pitchers who ev er signed offOn. This new stadium is an idiot. And Kevin long is partially to blame for not correcting these hitters swings

I would move the fences back in right field

  318. David N says:

Nice job, Hiroki. Too bad your offense is in the dictionary next to “impotent”.

    • JobaWockeeZ says:

I wonder how Cash fixes this. Offense has declined since 2009 but I don’t think he can throw many 100 million dollar contracts this time around.

      • David N says:

It’s not a matter of money. By numbers, the offense has been fine. It’s just been absolutely crap in big spots. That should be inexpensive enough to fix if you swap a couple of pieces. The problem is knowing which pieces to swap.

  319. Dan says:

And the season comes down to…..*Phil Hughes*!!! :))))))))

  320. MannyGeee says:

    LOOGYWin! Eat shit other leftys!

  321. Awesomo says:

If martin were further up the lineup, or maybe if Raul was in I would have faith. Maybe pinch hit Raul for Grandy?

  322. Eddard reboot v.1.0 says:

You’ve just seen Kuroda walk off the field for the last time as a Yankee. He wanted a shot at a WS and now realizes he can’t get it with this team.

  323. CJ says:

All season long it’s been a choke job by this team where the offense is concerned!! A 1-60 record when trailing after the 8th inning!! Do they even take batting practice, instructional hitting and look at the scouting reports before the game??? This 28 year old career minor leaguer looks like the second coming of Cy Young against the Yankees this season!! PATHETIC, PATHETIC, PATHETIC!!!

  324. Tabbert says:

If we have learned anything from the last two games, it’s that our pitching needs to get better. :)

  325. JLC 776 says:

I knew the pitching wouldn’t be the worry this postseason….

I hate to be thinking this right now, but short of miracle, this might be the most heartless showing I’ve ever seen the Yankees put up in October play. And I really want to blame this crowd on it.

    • Awesomo says:

Yeah it’s the crowd… Can you blame them? I would be anxious and nervous too. Hell, I am! The team has shown nothing to get excited about in this series. Short of a miracle martin HR were done in 3…

    • Mike T says:

Nah, the crowd isn’t flailing away trying to yank every ball out of the park. Let’s have Cashman bring in some more one dimensional players. God, how I miss guys like Matsui and Damon, guys who could get on base, hit in the clutch, work counts as well as hit the ball out of the park.

  326. Alexh says:

Its just bad managing to not hit Ibanez for A Rod against Johnson

  327. MannyGeee says:

    Soriano looks…. Rested…

    Now #untuck! Oh wait, I mean….

  328. Mike N says:

  329. Big Member says:

way to burn the pen Joe…what if Ichiro hits a HR and the game goes into extras?

  330. 7 ER in 26 innings for Yankee pitching in this series.

This series should be over by now, with those numbers.

  331. Pat D says:

Did they even mention Jeter was out of the game?

  332. BigBlueAL says:

We are 3 outs away from the possibility of David Phelps starting Game 2 of the ALCS.

    • Eddard reboot v.1.0 says:

Ha! More like we’re 3 outs away from going home in the 1st round for the second straight year. Phil ain’t winning Game 4. This game was the series. The only game Phelps is going to pitch in is tomorrow’s when Phil gives up his 2nd HR to Mark Reynolds.

  333. Andy Pettitte's Fibula says:

It’s funny to think how so many people on this blog went nuts against Randy Levine when he overruled Cashman and signed Soriano. He might have been the Yankees most valuable pitcher this year.

  334. pistol pete says:

Three outs to go and the captain hurting, if we don’t get to Johnson the season’s on Hughes probably without the captain.

  335. asdf says:

This inning might be the season. Need to scratch a run.

  336. BigBlueAL says:

Sherman tweeting that Ibanez is on deck to pinch-hit for Arod.

  337. Chris says:

If Ichiro gets to 1st or 2nd you MUST bunt A-Rod. At least let him help the team.

  338. Dan says:

Which team seems like a “team” and which like a “collection of ballplayers.”

  339. Joe says:

I hope ichiro gets on so arod can dp him so I won’t get my hopes up.

  340. CS Yankee says:

These are the NYY…and therefore I fully expect them to either win this game in the 9th or run the next two with W’s. The table is set as a easier than typical chance to get #28.

Get some positive thoughts going and quit being bitches! Go Yankees

  341. Adam says:

Holy crap, Ibanez is in on deck circle.

  342. Dan says:

    Pinch hitting for Arod?

  343. Bartolo's Colon says:

i don’t like the ibanez thing here

  344. For, like, a 1/4 of a 1/4 of a second, I thought that had a chance to reach turf.

  345. David N says:

    Wow, Ibanez hitting for Arod.

  346. Tom says:

Wow. I’m pretty stunned at this.

  347. cjc says:

    boy that tells you everything

  348. Joe says:

    A game too late clown

  349. Pete says:

    Wow, Girardi….

  350. Chris says:

Wow. A-rod. How far you have fallen.

  351. MannyGeee says:

Holy shit. They really are hitting for A Rod…

  352. Andy Pettitte's Fibula says:

Damn Girardi, Arod was primed to hit one out.

  353. 101010 says:

    Ahahaha enjoy the view, Alex.

  354. Adam says:

  355. Eddard reboot v.1.0 says:

    JOE’S A GENIUS!!!!!!!!!! RAUL!!!!!!!!

  356. Mike N says:

  357. Blaise says:

    MF Ibanezzzzzz!!!!!!

  358. Captain_Turbo says:

  359. Stratman9652 says:

Seriously how fucking great was the Ibanez signing?

  360. Psy says:

    LORD VOLDEMORT!!!!!!!!

  362. Tom says:

    Holy shit!!!

  363. Kiko Jones says:

  364. ArchStanton says:

He did it. Girardi really did, it and paid the fudge off!

  365. VT Yankee Fan says:

    So coooooooooooooooool.

  366. Andy Pettitte's Fibula says:

Holy shit. Girardi is a genius.

  367. CS Yankee says:

Raul for president…Joe is manager of the playoffs!!!

  368. David N says:

  369. ItWasaThing says:

Damn Girardi and his binder…oh wait…what happened?

  370. CJ says:

  371. pistol pete says:

Our $27m player gets pinch hit for and Ibanez hits an HR, you can’t make this stuff up. I’ve said it before but there is truly only 1 Rivera.

  372. Psy says:

  373. Robert Heenan says:

  374. Jack says:

Raul Ibanez is the clutchiest clutch that ever clutched.

  375. Pete says:

Little awkward seeing Mariano high-fiving A-Rod, who just got pinch hit for. It’s like Mariano was saying in his head, “YYYEAAAHHH, you *DO* suck!!!!”

  376. MannyGeee says:

    Wow…. I am she’ll shocked right now

  377. Mick taylor says:

So how do all you fuckers who attacked me earlier today when I said bat I banez 3rd feel now

  378. VT Yankee Fan says:

    I think that broke RAB.

  379. Tom says:

I believe it is Garbage Time (TM)

  380. xnyles says:

    wow what a horrible strike.

  381. Pat D says:

    Gotta leave Soriano in, methinks.

  382. The Real Greg says:

Well, now they have to do something that they haven’t done in awhile. Beat Baltimore in extra innings

  383. Dan says:

    There is a God

  384. Awesomo says:

He benches Raul the hottest hitter in the end of the season to play swisher the clown, and bats the second hottest batter 8th in martin. Girardi needs to go. Ride the hot bats.
