Six years ago today…
ByThis completely slipped my mind until just now, but today (Wednesday) is RAB’s sixth birthday. The time just flew by and I speak for myself, Ben, and Joe when I say none of us expected the site to turn into what it has. We’ve met a ton of cool people and made many great friends during these six years, and we owe it all to you. Thanks for reading and hopefully there are many more years to come.

Happy Birthday 100+ more!
Ben and Joe, like, disappeared off the face off the Earth. I understand people have lives, but regardless Mike deserves props for posting everyday.
So when’s the party? We must have meet up!
Happy birthday. I remember a few years Bach when I had to remind you guys it was RABs birthday
I remember the good old days. Bexarama, Rebecca, TSJC (was that his handle? I honestly can’t remember), Moshe, Imbrogno. Those were the days. While the site has kept it’s great content, the comment section has really gone down hill. Now, the trolls are immeasurable. The Lenny’s and Sal’s outnumber the Bexy’s and Matt’s. Less golf clapping, more heart attacking. Still, RAB remains the best sight when it comes to the actual content. Even the comments are still way better than ESPN/MLB/SI etc. Keep up the good work guys!
” tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside the Elder “
He went through a few, if i recall correctly.
The AKA switched around from time to time. As for the “why,” I assume it was pretty inside stuff.
He’d be fighting off trolls left and right if he were still here with the frequency with which he commented and all the inside-y stuff that was around back then.
This is still by FAR the best comments section I’ve ever seen. Perhaps it’s declined a bit, but I don’t think as much as you say.
Well half of those you mentioned have gone on and do their work for other sites so obviously the commenter quality ain’t what it used to be.
And needless to say, ESPN/MLB/SI comment section is full of idiots who only know about mainstream sites and only listen to what mainstream media tells them to do.
Here’s to RAB, mainstream enough to have all comers, but pristine enough to be relatively free of the World’s Dumbest People on Internet collection.
What happened to all those people and where did they go?
Seattle. Damn you, Jack Z.
Go look at LoHud or NoMaas comments section and come back to me… You’re welcome.
For all the trolling and Doomsday prepping, some good conversation still lives here.
FWIW, you still have the all-time champion of screen names.
Happy B-Da!. The site you guys created remains the best by far.
Still trying to figure out when I first started coming here. Maybe 2008 when I lurked, but now I wondering if I might have showed up in late 2007. Time goes by quicky
I swear my computer is dropping letters and characters. It can’t be user error. It can’t be!
I think I was on the same timeline.
I remember the old layout for sure, and I remember the four sites I checked daily being this, LoHud, Canyon of Heroes, and Bronx Banter.
I’m not quite sure when I began posting under my actual real first name….possibly 2009 or 2010, but I spent most of my time, definitely dating back to 2007 (as I remember sitting at my old job, which I haven’t been at for five years now, laughing my ass off at my desk), just lurking and scrolling through comments. That old guard was certainly hilarious.
The regular folk here do a good job of keeping things alive, and there’s a good mix of commenters who actually give a damn.
Yeah, 2009 was definitely when I started commenting, but I can’t remember which handle I was using.
Obviously no one can replicate TSJC, but the community here is still solid for the most part. We all could probably do a better job not feeding the trolls and avoiding the debates we’ve had 400000 times, but such is the life of a blog.
Six years of a great site.
Six years of dalelama.
Can’t win them all.
Congrats to all three of you for making it all look easy. May there be at least six more.
LOL
One week of you = Six years of dalelama
Insufferable egotist
Ted, tell your mother to shut the fuck up. Really.
No need to thanks us Mike. So glad I stumbled upon RAB. You and the RAB Team do a phenomenal job.
if only save the big the three would have worked! thanks for the many hours of reading, counting down for you guys to get your HOF votes.
Awesome job RAB dudes. Thank you very much for so much excellent content.
Congrats guys. Keep banging.
Now if we can only get a podcast…..
Joe has stated via email and twitter multiple times he’s done with the blog. The podcasts aren’t coming back.
Unless we get Big Member and pablos ham samwich to do them.
I have a fantasy now of this happening… except Big Member sounds like Paul Reubens and pablos ham sandwich just repeats him in a Lil John voice…
BOOM
Can we make this happen? I will front the initial money for production and iTunes Podcast fees. I need this in my life…
Best Yankees blog on the web, bar none. Nothing else comes close IMO, in either content or comments section.
Happy Birthday, RAB!
Well happy birthday, RAB! You guys are responsible for taking my fandom to a level I never thought I would be at. Keep on keeping on, boys. Best Yankee blog in existence.
Congratulations and keep up the amazing content!
Many combolations, Elizagerth! I hope you get all my…particles.
As a former reader of PinstripedBible, NoMaas, TYA, IIATMS and more, I totally agree that this is by far the most enjoyable Yankees blog around, with excellent interaction in the comment section, articles that are quite intelligent yet still comprehensible by the average guy and high accessibility.
Thanks for all the hard work, Mike (and Ben and Joe and the whole gang).
Congratulations guys!!!!
Still the best site to get Yankees information IMO
you are welcome.
Congrats, Mike! Tell the truth… Between RAB, MLBTR, CBS, and the rest… Is this a full time job for you?
Nice to have a Yankee blog to share a b-day with. I knew I liked RAB for a reason, heh heh. Cheers!
Thanks for making a New York ex-pat enjoy the Yankees even more.
Happy Birthday RAB!
I discovered RAB in June 2010, but didn’t start commenting until the beginning of the 2011 season. The content has remained great throughout the years (though I do miss podcasts) and the comment section is still great and I enjoy it very much. In addition to that, I also have RAB to thank for 90% of my knowledge of sabermetrics and other advanced stats. Big thanks to Mike, Ben and Joe, and all fellow commenters for making RAB what it is.
Congrats on a great site and thanks for all the work you do. Glad to share my birthday with RAB unfortunately I am much older.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY RAB!
I have been reading this site since I ran across it in 2007, I never post but I am a crazy yanks fan in Illinois ( because my my dad made me a Yankee ) I really appreciate all your work, I would be far less of a baseball fan in general without it, and I miss Tsjc
RAB’s birthday, my wife’s birthday and my son’s birthday – all February 20th. What a great day!
Thanks, Mike and the gang, for all of your hard work!
Congrats. I don’t post a lot but I read pretty much every day. Thanks for being here every day for those six years.
Thank you Mike – Love this site!
Congrats Mike!
Also, bleacherreport quoted you from a CBS article your wrote about the A’s. The link was on CNN’s website. Congrats on that too.
Agreed to most of the above, and a special callout to Mike for his consistent flow of thoughtful, thought-provoking posts. It’s a hell of a lot of work… and a hell of a lot of quality. Kudos!
Congrats, guys. Best Yankee blog out there.
Mike , you and the guys take the job seriously without taking yourselves too seriously. Cheers !
Did the site go out for dinner with the Yes Network and Pinstripe Bible for its Birthday?
Congratulations! Great site. Before you came along I was all over the place for Yankees news. You put an end to that, especially for the minor league/prospects stuff. Most days I don’t need to go anywhere else besides RAB, except for stats or to follow the occasional link. Not to mention an extrememly knowledgeable and funny group of posters.
congrats. This is by far my most favorite Yankees blog. Keep up the great work!
I have to say, before I found this site I knew like one minor leaguer, now I feel I have a pretty good grasp of the minor leagues, All because of RAB, thanks for everything guys.
And now that you see how barren the farm system is, you’re taking up goat farming?
hehehe… always with the zings, R-Tills.
Happy birthday RAB, you amazing sonuvabitch.
RAB, best site ever.
***opens an Old Pinstripe Ale***
Skol!, Prost!, and Cheers!
Cheers RAB!
Congrats Mike! Never miss reading the blog every day!
Been a fan since day one. You guys have kicked some serious ass. Thanks.
Happy Birthday RAB!
I stumbled across RAB a couple of years ago and it is now my first-stop-morning-coffee-website, no day is complete without a visit.
Thanks for keeping an Aussie Yankee Fan very well infomred.
