Update: Kuroda has sore left hip flexor, won’t start on Friday

By

11:32pm: Kuroda has sore left hip flexor, Girardi announced after the game. He first felt a little tenderness warming up on Sunday. The MRI came back clean and Kuroda’s unlikely to go on the DL, but they will skip his next start as a precaution. Nova gets the ball on Friday.

10:37pm: Waldstein says the early indication is that the leg issue isn’t too serious. Joe Girardi will address the situation after the game.

10:17pm: Via David Waldstein: Right-hander Hiroki Kuroda is back in New York having tests for a possible leg issue. He might not be able to make Friday’s scheduled start. Ivan Nova has been doing his usual between-starts stuff and is lined up for that game just in case. The team will provide more information after the game, so stay tuned for updates.

somehow, with the yankees’ luck this year, i could totally see this becoming tommy john surgery.

They’ll need to replace a tendon in his leg with the one from his non-throwing arm, but the doctor will mix up the arms and end up taking out his pitching arm.

It’s a good thing Chien Ming-Wang’s suddenly available.

Kuroda might be my favorite Yankee these days, and I’m going to the game on Friday and I love watching him pitch, but if this is something minor, it’s not the worst thing in the world.

He older, and has been ‘flat’ lately…for whatever reason, so perhaps some rest could be beneficial.

Get well soon HIRO! (HIROK! HIROKSTER! HIROKAMANIA!)

At least it’s nothing more serious.

Time for Nova to put some pressure on Phelps.

A spot start? Better call-up another long reliever.

Just in case, we can run with a bench of just a back up catcher for today a month.
