  • Broken leg

May I just say that Tyler Webb pitched very well for trenton today although he gave up the ‘winning run’. I was basically in the seats right behind home plate and the umpire was horrendous! Calls he made for the other team were unbelivable to the calls we got. Smfh

    • Tom Merritt

Thanks a bunch for your comments! I am a fan of Tyler Webb and live in Richmond, Va. I was following the game last night on the Thunder website and hanging with each pitch but could not tell about the umpire behind the plate.

  • Preston

The really surprising thing about Refsnyder has been the power. Last season he did everything BUT hit for power. Now he looks like he could have above average pop too.

  • nycsportzfan

O’Brien is a freaking stud. With guys like Murphy, Betances, O’Brien, we got plenty of ammo for trades. I could go on but the bottom line is we should have no problem getting a pitcher at the deadline if we want.

    • qwerty

If there’s a way to trade all those guys for another Pineda and Jose Campos then Cashman might be the only one who can pull it off.

      • LW23

Trade POB, Murphy, Betances for another Pineda??? Are you insane?

        • Captain Obvious

          You’re being trolled

    • ALZ

Overpay for a pitcher at the deadline. Instead of actually trying to fix the Yankees problems for the last several years, lets instead just throw it for another bandaid. Most of those players will wash out, but if one works out really good you got them cheap for 6 years. They can’t just buy everyone in FA anymore. You have to have a farm.

    • Tom Merritt

Just learning about Peter O’Brien. He hit a shot here in Richmond last week when I was at the ballpark. I hope they can find a position for him in the Bronx and not trade him away. Just hoping he can maintain this as it is exciting to follow for Yankee fans!!

      • pounder

        Shelly Duncan, come on down.

  • kidd

yes so lets repeat the broken plan and trade away all valuable young players for old players. I heard fat francessa agree with a met caller that trading murphy and another decent prospect for bartolo colon was equal value trade!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    For who I ask???????????????
Definitely not my Yanks. I don’t trade Murphy for any rental players especially a 40 yo washed up met!

    • Wolfgang’s Fault

Wouldn’t be looking to deal those three guys, & certainly not for Bartolo Colon.

  • Wolfgang’s Fault

Free Zelous Wheeler! Bring him up to the Bronx & make him a NY Yankee!!!

  • Wolfgang’s Fault

Could someone explain to me how Refsnyder goes 2-4 w/two doubles & no BB’s, AND he gets picked off 1st? What am I not getting here?

    • Yanks

      Reached on an error.

      • ALZ

        Or fielders choice.

    • Paisa

      error, I’m guessing

      • Wolfgang’s Fault

Of course! That’s what it had to be. Dementia has set in. Thanks to the both of you.

    • Adam from Bay Ridge

I didn’t see the game but in his particular case, he probably reached on a fielder’s choice only to be picked off afterwards.

      • Adam from Bay Ridge

Scratch that, just saw the above comments.

  • Wolfgang’s Fault

Jose Pirela quietly having himself a very nice 1st half. Teammate Corban Joseph had a lousy April but a very nice month of May & is back in the land of the living.

Would be a real good time for Bryan Mitchell to get it together so he gives himself a chance to help the big league club out this summer.

Zach Wilson 1-4 and Mike Ford 1-4. Two guys who just give you an honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay. Suddenly, two of my favorite guys in the system regardless of what labels get placed on them, & I have no idea if they have (labeled them), & if so, what those may or may not be.

Wow, a lot of guys named Tyler in this farm system, but I’m not complaining. IMO, All three are quality prospects. Hope Austin’s wrist is ok.

    • Jorge Steinbrenner

“Wow, a lot of guys named Tyler in this farm system, but I’m not complaining. IMO, All three are quality prospects. Hope Austin’s wrist is ok.”

If this were the WWE, one of them would have had their first name changed to “Garrison” already.

  • qwerty

I wonder if someone gave O’Brien a talk about his lack of walks because he’s practically walking every game now. Also congrats are in order for getting his 20th homer. Most minor leaguers would call that a good year. It’d be pretty amazing if he reached 40.

    • rainbows

yes i agree . they must have sat him down and said “mr obrien you are hitting too many home runs and driving in too many runs , lets stand at the plate and look for walks . dont you see how thats working out for the mets and thier system. make sure you get into bad counts and stop hitting so many home runs.”

      • Preston

If you don’t understand why a guy taking zero walks is cause for concern you should spend less time typing and more time thinking. His 18 home runs is probably the reason pitchers aren’t throwing strikes anymore. It’s important that he doesn’t continue hacking and starts taking walks. a 4% walk rate speaks to a guy swinging out of the zone a lot, because High A and AA pitchers certainly aren’t throwing strikes that often. He’s not Vlad Guerrero, he’s not going to make a living at the MLB level hitting would be balls.

        • rainbows

he has hit for power at every level, he has the most home runs in all of pro baseball, since the end of the steroid era power is limited , a guy that can mash is very valuable . i dont need obp from those guys, i need him to drive in runs, you guys are the ones that sound stupid with quote ” i like the walk better than the hr” , look at the yankees now , no home runs they cant score. you can teach guys to be more selective , you cant teach power

    • Bo Knows

if by every game you mean two days after not walking once in since the promotion then sure

  • Andy e

Wheeler is 10 for 34 in his last 5 games? That’s almost 7 ab’s per game

  • Dave in Sunny Jax

De La Cruz 81/27 K/BB ? I wish that was true…. Stat page says 30/16

  • LW23

Love what DBJ is doing! Any word on why Mason was pulled? jagielo update?

  • Smart Guy

seems like Omar luis pitches after severino all the time and stinks it up

    • Bo Knows

He’s pitched behind Clarkin a few times and has fucked that up too. Guy was a huge waste of the $3 million the yankees gave him.

      • Preston

He’s 21 and he has thrown 44 Milb innings. He has great stuff and is lefthanded. He has plenty of time to figure it out. Even if he only ends up providing some useful innings as a LOOGY he’d be worth the risk.

        • Preston

Just look at what Betances has done, the guy was drafted out of high-school and didn’t get to MLB until 25. Bichette was terrible for two whole seasons and has put himself back on prospect maps. Hell even if he doesn’t figure it out it’s worth the risk, because developing young talent is definitely a crap shoot. The only way to do it is by acquiring large numbers of high ceiling guys and hoping one or two pan out.

          • Wolfgang’s Fault

Agreed, but patience, even when it’s painful at times, can be a virtue. Knowing when to cut bait is, as well.
