Just a heads up, the minor league regular season ended today, and the postseason doesn’t start until Wednesday, so there will be no minor league update Tuesday. No games on the schedule.
Triple-A Scranton (5-4 loss to Syracuse in eleven innings, walk-off style) their season is over … they went 81-63 and won the division … their first round postseason matchup with Indianapolis begins Wednesday (best-of-five)
- CF Jake Cave: 3-5, 2 R, 1 2B, 1 3B, 1 BB, 2 K — finishes the season at .276/.335/.357 with 25 doubles, two homers, and 17 steals
- 2B Ali Castillo: 5-6, 3 2B, 4 RBI, 1 K — he’s been a beast since getting bumped up
- RF Aaron Judge: 0-6, 3 K — threw a runner out at home … finishes the season at .255/.330/.448 with 26 doubles and a system-leading 20 homers despite the rough finish to the year at Triple-A
- PR Ben Gamel: 0-0, 1 R, 1 SB — pinch-ran late … finishes the season at .300/.358/.472 with 28 doubles, 14 triples, ten homers, and 13 steals … led the system with 52 extra base hits
- LHP Chaz Hebert: 5 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 2/4 GB/FB — 46 of 70 pitches were strikes (66%)
- RHP Jonathan Holder: 5.2 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, 4 K, 6/4 GB/FB — 46 of 83 pitches were strikes (55%) … got bumped up to help out the bullpen on the final day of the season … he was the 75th different player they used this season, tying an International League record according to John Sadak
Double-A Trenton (8-1 loss to New Hampshire) their season is over … they went 71-71 and did not qualify for the postseason
- SS Tyler Wade: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 K — finishes the season at .262/.318/.333 with 14 doubles, three homers, and 33 steals
- RHP Jaron Long: 5 IP, 9 H, 6 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, 9/3 GB/FB — 63 of 89 pitches were strikes (71%) … finishes the season with a 4.24 ERA in a system leading 154.2 innings
High-A Tampa‘s season ended yesterday. They did not qualify for the postseason.
Low-A Charleston (2-1 win over Augusta in ten innings) their season is over as well … they went 66-74 and didn’t qualify for the playoffs
- SS Angel Aguilar: 2-4, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 SB — battled injuries this year and finished at .226/.279/.328 with 22 doubles, three homers, and a 27.1% strikeout rate in 87 games
- DH Vince Conde: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 BB — hit .265/.351/.414 with 30 doubles and six homers in 89 games at this level and .103/.204/.141 in 25 games at the other three full season levels
- 3B Donny Sands: 2-5, 1 R, 1 E (fielding)
- CF Alex Palma: 1-5, 1 K — the 19-year-old finishes the season at .202/.249/.257 with four doubles, four triples, and one homer in 80 games
- RHP Matt Wotherspoon: 6 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 10 K, 1 WP, 4/5 GB/FB — last year’s 34th rounder finishes the season with a 3.84 ERA and 112/32 K/BB in 106.2 innings
Short Season Staten Island (5-2 win over Brooklyn) their season is over … they went 41-34 and clinched the division title with today’s win … their first round postseason series with Tri-City begins Wednesday (best-of-three)
- CF Jeff Hendrix: 0-3, 1 BB, 1 K
- RF Trey Amburgey: 1-4, 1 R — this year’s 13th rounder finishes the season at .346/.399/.523 with eleven doubles, six triples, five homers, 21 steals, 16 walks, and 33 strikeouts in 58 pro games … in other words, that’s one helluva pro debut
- 2B Thairo Estrada: 0-4, 1 R, 1 RBI — 19-year-old finishes the season at .267/.338/.360 with 17 doubles, two homers, 23 walks, and 30 strikeouts in 63 games
- SS Kyle Holder: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K — this year’s supplemental first rounder finished at .213/.273/.253 in 56 games, though he did finish strong, going 13-for-45 (.289) in 13 games after coming off the DL
- RHP Derek Callahan: 5.1 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 K, 5/3 GB/FB — 58 of 85 pitches were strikes (68%)
- RHP Michael Schaub: 2.1 IP, zeroes, 3 K, 5/0 GB/FB — 17 of 21 pitches were strikes (81%) … 24/7 K/BB in 26.1 innings for the minor league free agent signee
Rookie Pulaski‘s season is over. They were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.
The season is over for both Rookie GCL Yanks affiliates. Neither qualified for the postseason.
