The final BA Hot Sheet of the season highlights the players who had the best overall seasons in the minors this year (as opposed to the best week). IPK & Joba come in at numbers 4 & 5 respectively, which is just insane. Yankee farmhands had 2 of 5 best seasons in all of minor league baseball. Ridiculous.
Evan Longoria (#6) & Wade Davis (#12) of Tampa Bay are the next highest ranked pair of organization-mates. As a bit of gravy, Red Sox prospects had 2 of the most disappointing years.
Triple-A Scranton was off, and will take on Richmond tomorrow in Game 1 of their first round, best-of-five matchup. Chad Jennings has the potential pitching matchups, and notes that Austin Jackson & Eric Hacker were sent down in favor of Frankie Cervelli (that’s one hell of a surprise) and Sean Henn.
Double-A Trenton was off. Tomorrow they will take on Portland (who beat New Hampshire in a 1-game playoff today) in a rematch of last year’s first round. I don’t know if this how they’ll keep the rotation in the playoffs, but right now the staff lines up Chase Wright-Alan Horne-Dan McCutchen-Jeff Marquez-Tyler Clippard. Having Kevin Whelan, David Robertson & Eric Wordekemper in the bullpen is just showing off.
High-A Tampa is done. Season over, no playoffs, no more mention in DotF. Ditto Low-A Charleston.
Short Season Staten Island (5-4 win over Brooklyn, walk-off style) no Sublett again…

Jose Gil: 1 for 5, 1 RBI, 2 K, 1 PB – walk-off single off the Mets’ first pick in the ’07…by the way, the Mets are going to regret drafting all these mediocre college guys just because they’ll sign for slot…you’re the Mets, roll the damn dice, and use your financial advantage to cover your mistakes if need be!
