In case you missed it earlier, the Yankees’ minor league deal with 1B/OF Nick Swisher is now official. He’s expected to be in the Triple-A Scranton lineup tomorrow.
Triple-A Scranton (1-0 win over Pawtucket)
- CF Ben Gamel: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 K — 6-for-13 (.462) with two doubles and a triple in his last three games
- RF Aaron Judge: 0-4, 2 K — first hitless game of the year … we’re still waiting for his first strikeout-less game of the year … he has ten strikeouts in 28 plate appearances so far (35.7%), which is obviously way too many … still early though
- LF Slade Heathcott: 0-3, 1 BB, 2 K
- 2B Rob Refsnyder: 1-4, 3 K
- DH Cesar Puello: 0-1, 1 BB, 1 K, 2 HBP — guessing he’s about to lose some playing time to Swisher
- RHP Kyle Haynes: 6 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 1 WP, 9/4 GB/FB — 58 of 88 pitches were strikes (66%) … the Yankees got him in the Chris Stewart trade with the Pirates a few years ago … I wouldn’t be surprised to see him take a trip or two on the shuttle this summer
- RHP Branden Pinder: 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K, 0/3 GB/FB — 32 of 48 pitches were strikes (67%) … eight strikeouts and no walks in five innings so far this year … this was his 12th outing of at least three innings in 159 career minor league appearances
Double-A Trenton (1-0 win over Portland)
- SS Tyler Wade: 1-3, 1 BB — he’s reached base in all six games so far
- CF Dustin Fowler: 1-4, 1 2B
- RF Lane Adams: 2-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI — the Double-A vet hit the go-ahead homer in the eighth
- 1B Tyler Austin: 1-3, 1 BB, 1 K
- LF Jake Cave: 1-4, 1 K, 1 CS
- 3B Dante Bichette Jr.: 0-3, 1 BB, 2 K
- RHP Brady Lail: 6.2 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, 11/1 GB/FB — 61 of 101 pitches were strikes … that’s about as good as Lail gets right there
High-A Tampa (4-1 loss to Bradenton)
- SS Jorge Mateo: 0-3, 1 HBP — he got hit by a pitch and didn’t revenge steal immediately? lame
- RF Austin Aune: 0-4, 2 K, 1 E (throwing)
- 3B Miguel Andujar: 1-3, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 CS — 8-for-21 (.381) in the early going
- 2B Abi Avelino: 0-3
- LF Michael O’Neill: 1-3
- LHP Ian Clarkin: 5.1 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, 3/4 GB/FB — 56 of 87 pitches were strikes (64%) … not great, but I’m still in “yay he’s healthy!” mode, so this works for me
- RHP Joey Maher: 3.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, 7/2 GB/FB — 24 of 37 pitches were strikes (65%)
Low-A Charleston (5-4 win over Asheville)
- CF Jeff Hendrix: 0-3, 2 BB, 1 K — the leadoff man is in an 0-for-15 skid with eight strikeouts
- SS Hoy Jun Park: 2-5, 1 R — 4-for-13 (.308) after a 1-for-10 (.100) start to the season
- DH Trey Amburgey: 1-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 HBP — he’s reached base in all six games so far, and he’s reached base multiple times in four of those six games
- RF Jhalan Jackson: 1-4, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 K
- 2B Kyle Holder: 1-3, 1 BB, 1 K
- 3B Angel Aguilar: 1-4, 1 K, 1 SB, 1 E (fielding)
- RHP Anyelo Gomez: 4.2 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, 6/2 GB/FB — 55 of 89 pitches were strikes (62%)
- RHP Andrew Schwaab: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 0/1 GB/FB — nine of 15 pitches were strikes (60%) … he has a 35/6 K/BB in 26.2 innings since signing as an undrafted free agent out of Missouri last year
