Update: We have a former Yankee sighting. I’m chillin’ out watching the Little League World Series on ESPN, and guess who’s the head coach for the squad from Chandler, Arizona? None other than Clay Bellinger. Awesome, just awesome.
There’s a rumor floating around that the Yanks and first round pick Andrew Brackman have either agreed to, or are close to agreeing to a deal worth $3M, which would be $2.1M over slot. Again, this is just a rumor.
Triple-A Scranton (4-1 loss to Rochester)

The Ghost of Kei Igawa’s Ghost: 6 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 6 K, 8-3 GB/FB – well, at least he’s smiling in his SWB mugshot
Brian Bruney: 1.2 IP, 0 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 0 K, 1 WP – king of the 3-ball count
Chris Britton: 0.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K – in other news, Kyle Farnsworth has a 1.59 WHIP
Double-A Trenton (3-1 win over Reading)
Reegie Corona: 1 for 3, 2 R, 1 BB, 1 SB – OPSing over .800 with Trenton
Cody Ehlers: 2 for 3, 1 2B, 1 BB
Gabe Lopez: 1 for 3, 1 R, 1 K
rest of lineup: combined 0 for 18, 2 RBI, 4 BB, 5 K, 1 HBP – Juan Miranda drove in a run and walked once, his daily minimum
Dan McCutchen: 6 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K
Scott Patterson: 2 IP, bunch of zeroes, 1 K – 77-13 K/BB ratio, 0.80 WHIP, 0.99 ERA in 63.2 IP…the 6’7″ 230 pounder is a beast in more way than one…
High-A Tampa (6-0 win over Palm Beach) that’s 2 straight Tabata-less days
Eduardo Nunez & Austin Jackson: both 0 for 4
Edwar Gonzalez & Chris Malec: both 1 for 4, 1 R – Edwar swiped a bag…Malec drove in 2
Marcos Vechionacci: 3 for 4, 2 R, 1 3B, 1 K
Jared Greenwood: 2 for 4, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 2 K – oh, and Frankie Cervelli hasn’t played in 2 days either
Anthony Claggett: 5 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
Low-A Charleston (5-3 loss to Lexington)
Hit Streak Hilligoss: 2 for 4, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 SB – 132 hits in 106 games
Seth Fortenberry: 1 for 5, 1 R, 1 RBI, 2 K
Kevin Smith: 2 for 4, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB
James Cooper: 1 for 4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 3 K – only 37 K in 233 AB coming into this game
Mike Dunn: 4 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, 1 WP, 6-3 GB/FB – Yanks’ best LHP prospect has issued 20 walks in his last 31 IP after handing out only 22 in his previous 93.2 IP…this is the time of year when guys get tired, so this isn’t entirely unexpected
Brady Martinez & Luke Trubee: combined 4 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K
Short Season Staten Island (4-1 loss to Jamestown)
Justin Snyder: 1 for 5, 2 K, 1 SB – still sporting a .479 OBP

Austin Krum: 2 for 4, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 2 K, 1 SB – Opening Day cleanup hitter is batting .181
Zach McAllister: 6 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 5 K, 1 HB, 3-9 GB/FB – most of the time, a team would consider a kid like this to be the best pitching prospect they picked up in a draft year, but he’s only the third best of the Yanks’ 2006 effort, and that’s awesome
Ryan Zink: 3 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K
Still no GCL updates, but they were supposed to play two today. In case you missed it, Abe Almonte went 4 for 4 with a double and 2 jacks yesterday, while Jairo “don’t call me Felix” Heredia got beat around to the tune of 5 IP, 9 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, but he did sport an 8-2 GB/FB ratio.
