The new Collective Bargaining Agreement has changed the draft pick compensation rules dramatically. Type-A and B free agents are gone, ditto the arbitration system. Everything now comes down to qualifying offers, which are valued at $13.3M this offseason.
I’ll update this page as teams gain and lose draft picks this winter via free agent compensation, with updates made after the team announces the signing with a press release. Compensation picks gained for losing free agents are protected, as are the top ten overall picks and any picks gained for unsigned 2012 draft selections. A more in-depth breakdown of all draft rules can be found here. If you have any questions, you can email me at mike (at) riveraveblues (dot) com..
