The 2018 Futures Game rosters were officially announced earlier today. LHP Justus Sheffield will be the Yankees’ only representative. OF Estevan Florial might’ve gone had he not gotten hurt.
Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (3-2 win over Pawtucket)
- CF Clint Frazier: 0-3, 1 BB, 1 K
- SS Abi Avelino: 2-4, 1 R, 1 RBI — he’s back up here now that Tyler Wade is in the big leagues
- 1B Billy McKinney: 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K, 1 E (missed catch) — third homer in his last nine games … second straight game at first base, though I suspect that has to do with 1B Tyler Austin (back), 1B Mike Ford (oblique), and 1B Ryan McBroom (foot) being banged up more than anything
- RHP Chance Adams: 4 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 3 K, 4/5 GB/FB — 58 of 95 pitches were strikes (61%) … 4+ walks in three of his last four starts … 24.6 K% and 11.6 BB% this year after 22.3 K% and 9.6 BB% last year

High-A Tampa Tarpons (4-1 loss to Lakeland in five innings) completed early due to rain
- SS Diego Castillo: 0-2
- 1B Brandon Wagner: 1-2, 1 K
- LF Isiah Gilliam: 0-2, 2 K

- 2B Kyle Gray: 0-3, 2 E (fielding, throwing)
- RHP Matt Sauer: 6.1 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 12/3 GB/FB — 58 of 85 pitches were strikes (68%) … only a 15.7 K% so far, though I suspect that’ll come up in short order … more importantly, he’s pitching very well
- RHP Rodney Hutchison: 2.2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 3/2 GB/FB — 22 of 27 pitches were strikes (81%) … pro debut for this year’s sixth rounder
Rookie Pulaski Yankees (6-5 loss to Bluefield in ten innings, walk-off style)
- SS Oswald Peraza: 2-3, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB

- RHP Justin Wilson: 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 3/3 GB/FB — 26 of 44 pitches were strikes (59%) … pro debut for this year’s 23rd rounder, who returned to the mound following Tommy John surgery with Vanderbilt earlier this year … he’s got a chance to be a nice little prospect if the stuff bounces back all the way
The Rookie GCL Yankees East had a scheduled off-day.
Rookie GCL Yankees West (4-2 win over GCL Blue Jays)
- DH Estevan Florial: 0-4, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K — second rehab game following wrist surgery
