CC Sabathia exits start with right hip soreness

Game Eight: CC the Stopper
DotF: Avelino hits walk-off homer in Triple-A Opening Day win

CC Sabathia left tonight’s start with right hip soreness, the Yankees announced. He’s heading for an MRI. Sabathia threw only 58 pitches in four innings — he allowed three solo homers — before being pulled.

There was no obvious moment when Sabathia suffered the injury. He completed the fourth inning with a strikeout and walked gingerly off the field, but that’s it. Not sure when it happened or how long he pitched through it.

The Yankees have an off-day Monday, so Sabathia’s rotation spot can be pushed all the way back to next Saturday, if the Yankees decide to go that way. Luis Cessa and Domingo German are presumably the first fill-in candidates.
