End of an Era

By Mike Axisa

No not that Era, the Wil Nieves Era – the Yanks granted Wil his free agency this week. Guess that leaves Raul Chavez as the third catcher. Sheesh.

I didn’t catch the press conference, is there a transcript anywhere?

Ben K. says:

I feel like maybe the Yanks have more pressing things to worry about than their third catcher right now.

Stephen says:

I guess we’ll just have to wait ’til old Wil’s number goes up in monument valley. (I forgot what his number was)

This is (or should be) also an end to the Posada-Rivera(-Jeter?) era. Now that Joe is fired, they might as well shed some serious payroll and go with new blood (ala RAB’s strategy). They could also blame inexperience in case the team crashes next season without Joe Torre’s steady steering (despite occasional strategic goofs).

Alex says:

Who exactly is going to replace Posada at the moment? Terrible move right now.
