Farnsworth OK after ‘hip pop’

With two outs in the ninth yesterday, Kyle Farnsworth pulled up a bit lame, and Joe Torre and the trainers rushed to the field. No one said much about it after the game, and the only word on his leg comes from Kat O’Brien. Farnsworth felt his hip pop and says he’s feeling OK. As any athlete knows, pop – shoulder, knee, elbow – happen, and the lingering effects are usually minimal. It’s all good.

Dammit, Farnsdearth is ok!!! ‘Ol well…….maybe he’ll return to his dominate form or rather his most consistent form. I’m hearing that Bronson Sardinha made the postseason roster. Is it true? Heard anything about the bullpen?

The Sardinha news is just idle speculation from other bloggers. The rosters won’t be announced for a day or two, and the Yankees will wait until after Clemens throws today before deciding anything, I would imagine.

This is really only tangentially related because it’s about other relievers, but I saw this on Rotoworld:

The Yankees told Brian Bruney, who pitched in three of the four ALDS games last season, that they won’t need him anymore this year and to go home.
“I was shocked,” Bruney said. The Yankees have decided to go with Ross Ohlendorf, Chris Britton and Jose Veras as bullpen options for the 25-man playoff roster.

That’s awesome. I’m doing a post on that right now.

If the injury had meant an end to Farnsworth’s season, the headline shoulda read: Hip-Pop Hooray!
