They are making room for Francisco Cervelli, Steven White, Scott Patterson, and Jeff Marquez! Cashman is a GOD!

This site really is the best. I meant to thank you three during the season and afterwards but never got around to it… I’ve been reading and commenting (not too intelligently I might add) since the Off the Facade days and this blog is my first check in the morning – and whenever I open the browser – and I’m proud to let you guys know.

Thanks again Mike, Ben, and Joe. Keep up the great work!

I was over at Lohud and one of the credible commenters seems to have the inside track on this. The trade will apparently be part of a large revamping which should include the acquisition of Coco Crisp and Delmon Young along with the three or four players te Yankees would have to send. It makes sense if you take into account that Young should be had straight up for a pitcher and Crisp the same. If the Yanks send three and get back one how many spots would the Twins need?

To takeit a step further if the Yankees send three and get back one that makes three (four if they bite the bullet o Pavano) open spots for the free agent signings we have yet to announce.

there’s such a thing as a “credible commenter?”

Why would the Twins outright players before announcing a deal that would rest on a negotiation window? Presumably any team that finalizes a trade is going to be fairly confident they can sign him, but what does Minesota gain by dumping players before the deal is sealed?

By the way, I’m not being a smart ass, I can imagine such a reason could exist, I just can’t think of one.

Maybe the Twinx don’t feel that those guys are worth protecting with rule 5 coming up? Just a guess, but I can understand your suspicion.
