Spring Training Game 5 Thread
ByThe game is live on YES and/or ESPN at 1 this afternoon. I’ll update this post if I notice anything of particular note. But for now, here are the lineups:
1. Johnny Damon, LF
2. Derek Jeter, SS
3. Bobby Abreu, RF
4. Alex Rodriguez, DH
5. Jason Giambi, 1B
6. Jorge Posada, C
7. Robinson Cano, 2B
8. Wilson Betemit, 3B
9. Melky Cabrera, CF
Tossing for the Yanks:
Ian Patrick Kennedy: 2 to 3 innings
Joba Chamberlain: 2 to 3 innings
Jonathan Albaladejo
Ross Rock ‘n’ Rohlendorf
Update by Ben: Good news as we await the start of this game: The results of Bobby Murcer’s biopsy have come back negative. The tests revealed scar tissue and not another cancerous tumor.

kennedy and joba back to back should be worth watching
the eyes will be on the first two pitchers, but the brains will be focused on the last two
And IPK looks sharp in his first inning of work.
He wasn’t throwing anywhere near 100% effort either.
Michael Kay just said that the Twins traded Santana to the Red Sox.
Still awaiting a self-correction on that one.
Kenny finally noted that Santana landed with the Mets, a half-inning later.
giambi flashin some leather
Kennedy’s not hitting his spots today.
Good news about Bobby.
Randy Keisler? I thought it was more likely that he’d be more likely to show up on the “Where are they now” segment. Next up for the Twins it’ll be Ed Yarnell.
Since I don’t live in NY, I’m forced to watch the game on espn, holy hell Peter Pesaerili just said that Yankees would win the east, and after he said that Rick Suticliff almost had a stroke when he said the red sox rotation with there kids and dice k being somewhat of a bust. And on that note lets watch the red sox win the world series during a YANKEES GAME, thanks for the stellar coverage
Ohlendorf is beast.
ohlendorf is daddy
will someone please tell Kay to stop saying ‘Generation Trey’. it’s an AWFUL nickname.
I agree!!!!
didn’t see it all but….
a. IPK was really only able to seriously locate his 2-seamer. but that location was damn nasty
b. Joba was clearly trying to work on the curve / change . not working too well yet
c. I’m pretty shocked that Giambi might be serious in that trying to hit the other way again thing. that’ll be REALLY interesting to see. if it works he might lose some HR but hit for a much higher average as all those singles go through the other side. also surprised at how good he looked on the field so far
d. watched the espn interview with Giradi was hilarious, he keep taking jabs at Rick Sutcliff (the first Major league pitcher he caught)
e. Melky had a icky day at the plate but boy did he schooled Carlos Gomez in the field
