For one night, everything goes according to plan

Andy-Joba-Mo supported by six runs, three of them via the long ball. You couldn’t script a better game before Fenway. The Yanks knocked out 12 hits and held the Royals to one run en route to a 6-1 victory. The Yanks now head into Boston at an even .500, tied with the Red Sox, and we are all spared the agony a three-game sweep at the heads of the Royals would have brought upon Yankeeland. And how about that Melky Cabrera kid? He sure can hit, no?

Yes, that was a very nice win. It’s nice to see Pettite pitching well. Wang is lights out right now. Ian is gonna come around, and Phil just needs some more starts under his belt. Mussina will brush off the dust and be good too. Hopefully they can see the hidden gems (Alaberado (or however you spell it, Edwar, Patterson, even David Robertson in AA)

A solid performance from Andy, and a real boost to get the team back to .500 leading to a Boston Sux series. Love to see Melky bat at the top. The Yanks need energy from the top two batters to distract opposing pitchers with Arod, Giambi, Matsui at bat.

Will pitching more than an inning a game wear Joba down for later in the season? In the seventh we need someone else to step up, or the lefty-righty combo to fill in.
