Game 103 Spillover Thread III
By Mike AxisaI’d really like to see Melancon at least get a chance at something more than mop-up innings.

no shit, michael kay
“Because the rotation is the priority. If Hughes was the starter tonight, the pen likely wouldn’t have been overexposed.
Good starters make relievers better.”
I agree with that but who would be left out there, coke and mo? girardi wont use melancon other than mop up, Marte is throwing 88 at scranton and D-Rob is fine for 1 inning at a time.
Kei Igawa will be in the bullpen.
Both Robertson and Aceves looked good for one inning. They looked much less good pitching two.
Had Hughes gone, say, 6 innings, that’s 3 for the pen. Coke, Aceves, D-Rob, and Melancon could easily make it through two innings to hand it to Mo.
i wouldnt say Ace looked good for one, but he got through one clean. I also said Ace is probably going to the dl looking at how he looked. if he was healthy then its easy.
Perhaps.
Bottom line is, even if it weakens the pen considerably, it’s still the smart thing to do. Even if we have no solution to the bullpen problem, fix the starting rotation problem first.
if they believed that we never would have had the mitre experiment in the first place. im just saying i think they will use all the other stuff as the excuse to leave phil where he is.
And they’re wrong. Perhaps they’ll realize that soon.
i certainly hope.
I still can’t believe Tony Bernazard actually showed up in our game thread and posted all those comments as “Mets Fan 260″. That was weird.
I guess he’s got more time on his hands now.
just wait…next time he will challenge the server to a fight.
Better on his hands than in ‘em, I always say.
It’s too bad Bernazard never had a chance to scout Matt Bush.
Oh my god. There would be freshmen flying everywhere.
Los Yankees suckers
I’m gonna Hulk smash yo ass

Look at all that talent he assembled! What a savvy GM he must be.
Hey, look who learned how to use a reply button.
(golf clap)
Just ignore him, guys.
Wait, I got one more, lemme do it:

Where the hell was that mound even at?
Spring training. The only place the Mets are any good.
Thanks Derek
such a rally killer. what is he on the all-time DP list?
lmgtfy.com
wouldnt be a yankees game without a late inning rally killer
I just hope our guys remember how to play baseball tomorrow.
I hope we remember how to comment tomorrow.
Is Buerhle pitching tomorrow…?
sunday.
danks vs aj tomorrow
buerhle vs cc sunday
Too bad Sabathia is going to give up 5 runs because he sucks.
Danks is pitching for the ChiSox vs. A.J. Burnett
maybe if girardi gets thrown out of the game we can come back and win it
Thome better hit a fuckin homer; hes on my fantasy team. this game is done.
DL Bruney and Aceves
Again, you have a really, really appropriate name.
Wait, the lone baserunner was a rally?
Damn, even the rallies on this team suck. We’ll never see October again!
tomorow on espn your gonna see a story like this
“bronson arroyo goes on waivers”
“Red Sox break Curse, finally win Trading Deadline Day World Series Championship”
What’s your point?
[...] Confidence Poll « Game 103 Spillover Thread III Jul [...]
Bah, I hate AJ Pierzynski and his glow in the dark hair.
ESPN: “Yanks fall as Red Sox creep closer to first place”
They would do that.
Doesn’t Melancon remind you of Roger Clemens?
They’re both pitchers.
That’s all I got.
I thought his profile looks like Roger Clemens, though the latter was a bit bigger than the former.
Nice work by Melancon
NICE WORK MELANCON!
i smell a double play
Melancon has retired 14 of the last 17 batters he’s faced, and one of those three reached on an error.
Tex just missed that one. Damn.
i love how cano is smiling in the dugout.
duh! he’s still gettin his cash money
C’mon Arod! Think!
[ facepalm ]
Seriously, Alex… Did it really matter? If Matsui hits a two run homer here, it’s gonna look even dumber.
Selfish A-Rod, trying to pad his stats and get home earlier.
My 12-hour procrastination is wasted. Michael Kay can STFU.
Just another great play to finish a great game.
yearg!
i feel like im watching the mets now
Cashman better have something huge to pull out of his ass in August or I’m gonna have to choke a b*tch!
Kei Igawa count?
Igawa will be called up to start in place of Mitre.
Fans of teams who can’t spell “socks” are dickheads.
why do the yankees have to wait until after the trade deadline to play like this. if this was happening a week ago we would have roy halladay starting tonights game.
No, we wouldn’t have.
I wonder if Mitre gets another start.
Probably, yeah.
You’re a masochist.
Nope. Masochists enjoy pain. I just resign myself to it as a part of life.
Oh yeah, I hope so. Who wouldn’t want to see another loss?
List of people I blame for this loss:
1. A-Rod (given), 2. cashman 3. posada 4. girardi (for not letting shelley come in and hit a 10-run bomb) 5. that lazy bum cano 6. did i already say a-rod 7. damon’s noodle arm
You left out Swisher.
I can’t BELIEVE you left out Swisher.
Yeah, him and his off days! If he wasn’t such a pansy, he would have played and single-handedly won us the game tonight!
well since the yankees didnt make a move im pretty sure someone will get injured now. so our rotation could end up with igawa and mitre
Who says they won’t make a move?
and im pretty sure the whitesox have more 2 out hits in this game then the yankees do all season
clever, i like. the fact that they’ve got “sox” in their name makes them gritty.
Seriously, if Brubey remains ineffective and Aceves can’t get the job done, or if he’s hurt(that’s 2 bad appearances in a row), coupled with no 5th starter to speak of, this team is in big trouble.
The team isnt in big trouble. However I do believe the pitching staff is in alot worse shape than most people here want to believe.
Cliff Lee no-no through 5. That’ll be over soon. Mitch Williams is salivating.
zOMG THE SEASON IS OVER zOMG!
Oh, wait. When we wake up tomorrow, the Yankees will… be in first place?
we cant beat gritty teams
the mets and the bluejays were in first place at somepoint in the season. so really not sayin much that were in first place in august
