i can’t believe i am skipping homework for this game
but i just love the yanks too much
“I wish I knew how to quit you.”
Yea, I got a shitload too. I guess Im staying up til 3 again.
Repost from the bottom of the last thread:
If the Seahawks are ever allowed to wear this:
http://blog.thenewstribune.com…..15;400.jpg
during a game against the Texans wearing this:
http://www3.pictures.gi.zimbio…..W8VoDl.jpg
The NFL will spontaneously combust.
i love those battle red jerseys by the way
i have an andre johnson one
XFL, where have you gone.
your links no worky
Links not working. Assuming you’re talking about the crossing guard outfit the seahawks dawned, I’m with you. I understand they do it to sell more jerseys but who the hell would buy that shit?
Sorry, try these:

The goggles…They do nothing!!!
I was kinda hoping this game would go into extra innings with the score 0 – 0. Then some scrub would hit a HR for the walk-off win. Oh well.
well, now it can be 1-1…
wow
mark teahen?
really?
Are they really booing?
Man, those psychos at It Is High It Is Far are right, Anthony McCaron does sound just like Ed Norton.
I want to know how those nutjobs got linked to a good site like Sportspyder.
I know right, i got there every so often for a laugh but they shouldn’t be lumped in with the other more informative blogs.
Oh well, good for them tho.
At least NoMass mixes in some analysis with their goofy pics.
John Sterling-”Teahan is ‘teeing off’ on the Yankees!!”
wakka wakka wakka!
I really feel bad for the Royals, and the Pirates. They’re my two favorite non-Yankee teams.
Good, solid histories, beautiful uniforms, amazingly sweet ballparks, great, loyal fans, and they’re cursed with horrible management. (Although Huntington is a big improvement over the past regimes).
I want those clubs to start winning again. I’m tired of the Twins and the White Sox and the Cubs and the Cardinals.
/rant’d
how are their fans loyal when they don’t show up to the games?
less than 3000 people saw the pirates beat the reds last week
Yeah, but that was extenuating circumstances, there were some hardcore protesters out and about that day.
Meh, some of that is protest.
Hard to fault Pirates fans, they haven’t won since the first George Bush administration.
And the Royals haven’t seen the postseason since the Reagan Administration……Yikes!
Ever since I,ve been interested in sports, I,ve never seen these teams in the playoffs
Lions
Pirates
Royals.
Ewing Kauffman was one of my favorite Baseball owners. The Kauffman Foundation supports entrepreneurship all over the country, and if you’ve ever watched any PBS, he sponsored many of those shows as well. Good man.
Kaufmann Stadium was a palace even before the renovations; now it’s even more stunning.
Waaayyy ahead of its time.
Does anyone think Kotchman will ever blossom? He is only 26 but I doubt it.
Hes a defensive replacement on a team with 3 1b.
Is it just me or is Kay incredibly…let’s say ill-educated on the financial side of baseball?
Is it just me or is Kay incredibly…let’s say ill-educated on the financial side of baseball?
Fixed
Tag fail.
WTF man?
Is it just me or is Kay incredibly…let’s say ill-educated on the financial side of baseball?
Fuck it.
You can’t use the “s” tag, you’ve got to use the “strike” tag. (s)(/s) doesn’t work.
Oh, gotcha
Salty, you’re better than that.
Apparently not.
/Jacoby’d
kansas city defense fail
Melky >>>> Ho-shaver
(Interpret that however you like.)
Replace your divot dude, this is NOT Kansas City.
Small ball fail.
So I guess no one told Cervelli that being fast for a catcher still means he’s slow.
Pena>>>Big Papi
OMG what did i just seeeeeeee
I don’t know who, but somebody here called that shit.
Me
Ramiro Pena? WOW
RAMIRO PENA?!?!??!?!??!?!
The CatWoman Suit MUST have something to do with that.
Yay Ramiro. Congrats.
RAMIRO PENA WITH THE SMASH!!!
HAHA! I totally called that Pena HR in the last thread!
Al had that shit under control.
Juicing.
The silent treatment!
Hahahah!
RAMIRO!
Pena?!?!? REALLY?!?!?!
Never in a million years did Sterling think he’d need a Ramiro Pena HR call.
What was it??
Please tell me he didn’t say Ramiro rammed one.
that’d be cool if he did.
I CAME TO BRING THE PENA! HARDCORE FROM THE BRAIN-YA! LET’S GO INSIDE MY ASTRO-PLANE-YA!
Congradulation Pena, now ur tied with Jason Tyner.
lol
I love NoMass, but this was unnecessary
http://www.nomaas.org/images/ouch.jpg
jajajaja
“jajajaja”?
What are you, Popeye?
j = h in spanish
“jajajaja” is “hahahaha” in Spanish.
oooooohhhhhhhh. . gotcha.
+1
GEICO MONEY!
Bring back memories?
OH!!!!!
I love the photoshops at NoMaas
The Yanks have no chemistry
/MSM
dang aceves lookin like a gangsta in the all grey suit
Cowboys goal line offense FAIL.
Did we just see Jorge smile ?!?!?!
He’s thinking about his wife.
Or possibly urine. Or possibly both.
Did YES just show Alex and Jeter and say that some Yanks dont need to like each other?
BOOOO.
Then explain this: http://assets.nydailynews.com/.....bhouse.jpg
Self-defense. You can see the fear in Jeter’s eyes.
Gardy really loves to dive.
Diving is ok as long as he doesn’t let the ball skip by for extra bases.
“jajajaja”?
What are you, Popeye?
ooops reply fail.
ooops reply fail.
Mike Pop’d
damn gardner, no need to dive man
Brett’s gotta learn to get around more balls that he’s probably not going to get to.
Rephrase that, please.
“…balls that he’s not going to get to while they are in the air.”
Thank you.
I had images of his getting shot down in a Chelsea night club.
Brett’s gotta pull it back correctly and get in front of those balls so they don’t shoot up and blast him all in the face. That’s how you end up with stains all over your uniform.
Better?
He left early.
/Morgan’d
wow duncan has a cannon for an arm, no?
yea he does i believe he used to be a catcher before too.
Doesn’t matter when the throw’s that far up the line.
/buzz kill
Doesn’t matter when
the throw’s that far up the line.it’s attached to the torso of a sub replacement level player./sad truth’d
Heh, I like it. I wonder where Shelley lands in ’10.
Don’t worry, he’ll be in Japan soon, challenging Tuffy Rhodes’s records.
Duncan has a rocket
..in his pocket.
See that Jacobs sac-fly? THAT’S why I acquired him. Can Kila Ka’aihue do that? (Don’t answer that.)
Sincerely,
Dayton Moore
I wonder why Dayton didn’t called up Kila Ka’aihue this season?
Well, to be fair, he was kinda “meh” in AAA. .252/.392/.433.
Still, though, he’s gotta be able to do what Mike Jacobs does.
Have they called Kaaihue up? He didn’t exactly tear it up in AAA this year, but can’t understand why they wouldn’t be taking a closer look at him in September. Oh, wait. They’re the Royals.
wow hochevar is at 58 pitches through 5 innings
holy crap that’s efficient
wow what a play by betancourt
What -17.7 UZR/150?
The mound slowed it down
Jorge is NOT treating this like an exhibition.
Every game is game 7 of the World Series to him
Alright, boys, season’s on the line, time to moisten up!
(ducks into restroom)
hahahahaha what a noodle arm by the LF
johnny damon is laughing
Maier’s arm makes House Party 2 look like House Party.
Nope, it’ll look like House Party 4.
OR HOUSE PARTY 3!
I’ve hit paydirt. Out of ketchup, then I remembered the old stash of ketchup packets, soy sauce and duck sauce in the back of the ol’ fridge!
Score one for the home team.
Score one for the home team.
You watchin yesterdays ‘skins game on DVR?
What can I say… The lions were due?
Just like the Washington Generals.
/KrustyTheKlown’d
heh, even the sun shines on a domed dogs ass
Hinske’s due for a HR too.
maybe next time
shelley hits the walkoff
nvm
Jorge’s OPS is up over .900 on the year after that double.
Speaking of twitter.. Michael Kay, your twitter is the shit.
Does Kay have ANY idea about this?
http://twitter.com/yesmichaelkay/status/4458987218
Shelly looks completely lost.
Nevermind.
can i has a shelly single?
YES I CAN!
I think Im going to send Coney a message (if I could find his number) and ask for a baseball signed by the Yanks.
its on a game thread during the seattle series
i forgot which game though
pass it on if you could find it.
SHELLEY SMASH!!!
Oh well, nighty night peeps. Long day tomorrow.
But before I go, if ‘yankeefan91 Arod fan’ is still around, I’d just like to say this:
JAJAJAJA!!!
http://riveraveblues.com/2009/.....ent-605167
Just let jorge steal home for shits and giggles
that works too
Didn’t Ho-Shaver strike Duncan out with a fastball earlier in the game?
I guess Shelley can’t even hit fastballs
Here comes the Homer Bush reference.
damn freddy guzman went quick!
http://www.edgepsychotic.com/s.....mockup.jpg
time for Miranda to hit his first homer?
maybe next time he can
chad to teh 7th?
we’ll see
Do we see Robertson tonight?
robertson is going to available tomorrow
lol cone is hilarious
Aweosme answer Coney. Mo’s cutter = Best weapon
What kind of stupid poll is that? Or should I say, stupid responses.
great job by gaudin
this guy has been 10000000 times better than i could’ve ever imagined
What didn’t make sense was they originally kept Mitre in the rotation and had Gaudin in the pen/6th starter even though it’s pretty obvious he’s better than Mitre.
It wasn’t all that obvious at the moment.
I love how Kay is surprised by that. Young people use text messaging, Mike. They weren’t around for those other things. Those games mean very little to me because they happened well before I was born. I was at A-Rod’s 500th game, and even if I wasn’t, I would’ve watched it on TV and it would’ve meant a lot more to me than games that happened before my birth. I’m pretty sure most of the people sending in those texts feel the same way.
Should read “500th home run game” but you get the idea.
Whats that? A-rod is the 1st one to greet Gaudin? What is this world coming to?!!!
But ARod is not teh team playah!
/alex gonzalez’d
Marte’s ERA in single digits! woooo
My favorite Yankees-Royals moment:
When the Yankees created the Royals by setting up an illegal insider-trading deal (that helped sustain our dominance in the 1950′s and 1960′s) with Arnold Johnson, forcing the Kansas City A’s to be sold to Charlie O. Finley who then moved them to Oakland, creating a void to be filled by the expansion Royals.
Chambliss’s homer isn’t the best KC/Yankees moment?
The Pine Tar game was fantastic – I can hear Rizzuto yelling “Holy cow, here comes Brett” or something like that
Not a super KC lineup – but a nice job by Gaudin
Do we get a little IPK tonight after Marte?
Wasn’t it Murcer doing the play-by-play?
Yeah it was Murcer with Frank Messer
http://armchairgm.wikia.com/Ge.....r_incident
The Chambliss HR is easily the most important (and best and most signifcant) moment in Yankee/Royal history. Yet I think the poll was phrased poorly. If it’s asking for “your” favorite moment, then it pretty much chops out those under 40 who didn’t see the Chambliss HR or the Pine Tar game. Not to mention (although one of the other posters did), teens/20s are probably more likely to be participating in a text poll.
Girardi won’t use Hughes or Rivera tonight, right? I would sure hope not.
I doubt he would. We can win this without the two of them.
So Hochevar went 6 innings while giving up 3 ER, 8 Hits and a walk while getting only 2 K’s. Technically, thats a quality start but that came against the Yanks F lineup, so is it still a good outing?
bust
Let’s see if he improves
I just heard pena hit a bomb, what was the sterling call?
he didn’t have one–just said “how do ya like that??”
I wonder if tonight’s outing makes Gaudin’s FIP better than Mitre’s? (It was a third of a run worse coming into today IIRC)
what does IIRC mean?
if I recall correctly
ahhh ok…thanks
Kay totally pays for his little “fan” club
I thought that was only legal in Nevada?
Who, Kim Jones and his mother? =)
damn cervelli missed a HR by thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis much
lol?
By the sound of sterling’s call i thought it was a no doubter, apparently not
Man, if Franky Cervs had more experience catching our pitchers he’d be the backup come next week.
aight pena, swing now
Don’t make the kid bunt. He just hit his first career homer. Let him swing away.
Agreed.
Side-note: If I were Jeter, managing the final game, I’d sac bunt like every inning. Sac bunt at the drop of hat. Just to make a point to Girardi not to bunt during the postseason.
We’d break the record for most sac bunts in a game. Just another meaningless but fun record that we would break this year.
Nah, Jeter would bunt because he actually likes it.
I agree.
Wait, you said “bunt”? Nevermind, I thought you said something else.
and that’s why you don’t bunt
Damn Cervelli looks intense when running around
I think the world was 2 feet away from ending. Pena and Cervelli HR in the same day?
Nice job by them there though.
No Kay, they actually just look like Puma cleats.
Cone with the My Cousin Vinny reference. Love it.
Cone has his A game tonight
PENA THANKS FOR COMING THROUGH!!!
Cervelli should be on the postseason roster. He has thoroughly out played Molina this year and can provide far more off the bench than Molina in the postseason with his speed alone…too bad it wont happen.
i completely agree
molina would give his left nut to hit and run like cervelli
Think about it…late/extra inning game, Posada on 2B, 2 outs, no position players left, would you rather have Molina or Cervelli on your bench?
I’m on board with this idea.
Eh, what’s more important, having a guy who’s caught 50 games and all of our pitchers, or having a catcher that is fast and can hit better? Mind you Molina most likely won’t have an AB in the playoffs.
Olivo faaaaaaaaail.
Muhahah Pena putting on a clinic for these Royals fools.
Pena padding his stats today
Another first and goal turned into a field goal.
The Cowboys are setting this game up perfectly for a heartbreaking, last minute, 14-13 home loss.
man maier sucks big time balls as a LF’er
Well, they can just move him to 1B or DH, there’s no logjam at those spots—
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW, TOO SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON???
hahahahahahahahaha
i really can’t stop laughing at this
Our scrubs putting on a clinic.
I hope they score 7 runs just for fun.
Mitch Maier is just a big bundle of fail in LF tonight.
the shaver of hoes is losing command
Everyone has a hit tonight except for Miranda and Guzman
still waiting on a Miranda homer.
i like where this inning is going
http://episteme.arstechnica.co....._GOING.jpg
BOOM I KNEW THIS WOULD BE A GOOD INNING!
http://www.hiyoooo.com
BANGWAGON
seeeeeeee yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
yay cano!
DONT CHA KNOW!
Can we get a Mike Dunn appearance?
Dunn, IPK…
Love it.
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH WHADDYAAAKNOWWWWWWW
CANO GRAND SLAM!!!
HOLY SHIT!!!!
CANO BITCHES!
Yanks bust it open on Robbie’s granny.
Its Robbie Cano, A Dont you know?
Pfft … and you people say Cano can’t hit with RISP.
lol i totally knew he’d deliver, but i never thought grand salami
He was just waiting for some Ho-shaver.
Yay Yankees.
I’m finding myself kinda feeling bad for Kansas City fans right now. They’re getting beat up by the Scranton-Wilkes Barre Yankees plus Cano, Melky, Gardner and Posada.
That will help my fantasy team, (and makeup for his off day tomorrow)
8 runs with the mostly scrub lineup
But we’re going full-bore, and the Sox aren’t trying!
haha yeah, we’re on the verge of going 9.5 games up, which would be a season high
They’ve clearly got the strategic advantage over us at the moment. They get to line up their rotation for the playoffs, we’re busy chasing individual achievements like the selfish bunch of team-lasters that we are.
IPK tonight?
3 wins away (after today) from being the 2nd most winning team in the Steinbrenner Era
Rick Sutcliffe picked the Royals to win the AL Central, btw. (He also had the Yankees out of the playoffs and the Mets and Cubs in, but so did a lot of the MSM.)
Rick Sutcliffe molests collies
Sutcliffe is one of the most annoying announcers going (I’ll take Morgan in a second if faced with the choice) and clearly he also can’t pick teams.
You know.. This is weird, but I don’t find myself so annoyed by Morgan anymore. He’s just such a complete joke that now I just find him kind of entertaining. If he’s on TV and he’s not bringing the crazy it’s almost disappointing.
Kay: “Guys that went: Alex Rodriguez, Ramiro Pena, ….more names…., and Alex Rodriguez.
Abe Simpson: “My Homer is not a Communist. He may be a liar, a pig, an idiot, a Communist, but he is NOT a porn star!”
Haha for some reason in the background of the radio broadcast you can hear someone yelling “MIIIIICHAEL KAY” I’m waiting for him to drop a “Fuck You” or something.
But it was funny because Suzan acknowledged it
She acknowledged it only after she read that I brought it up here on RAB
Come on, Juan!
HOMER!
HOMER!
HOMER!
lol. I wonder if Boston is sitting in their clubhouse watching the Rangers game.
Wait, did Boston have to win and Texas lose or just the latter?
boston’s magic number was 2 i believe
so they would have to win and texas lose
but now texas is one loss away from being out of it
Boston win + Texas loss = WC Clinch
Yeah, and one or the other will clinch at least a tie of the WC for Boston.
hahaha prolly
7-0 Angels in the 3rd…. could the Rangers suck any more than this?
So will the Red Sox “go crazy” and have a champagne celebration when they clinch a tie, because that’s “what this team does.”?
I love how they were planning to have a party at Yankee Stadium for finishing second, and then got swept.
That’s just how they roll, man.
Heh.
Carlos Rosa >>>>>> Luke Ho-shaver
Damnit Miranda, hurry up and hit a HR someday.
He’s no Ramiro Pena.
yay new meaningless but fun record!
Robbie Cano has more GS (at least baseball…) than Jeter so he is more clutch
/dont know anything’d
Ace makes sense here – probably he was shadowing Gaudin in case he didn’t go far in the game.
Gardner – UZR FTW
Gardner’s UZR is 6.1 and his UZR/150 is 11.1 for those of us who don’t know it off the top of our heads.
And Ellsbury you wonder? -15.6
But a UGR* of +100
(Ultimate Grit Rating)
If they were the Yanks, ESPN would have “Yanks go down to the Jays in effort to clinch,” as one of the items on their homepage. Either that or, “No champagne popping for Yankees, Bluejays pop Yanks”
oh god
is this lead mitre-proof?
I’m assuming Mitre is warming
yes, it is. I would rather see IPK though
I’d guess that IPK is shut down for the year.
Against this team, this shit is Veras proof. Okay, maybe not.
The Yankees actually haven’t clinched yet.
/Joe Morgan’d
So now that the season is basically over, what do you think the biggest series of the year was? We always talk about what’s a big game or big series and what not, but now we can look back and say with some certainty.
For me, has to be the 4-game sweep of Boston. They had a small lead in the division, but blew it right open and made a statement that series.
+1
That would be my pick, too.
Series? hard to say. Game? Al comes back and goes deep. That was by far my favorite moment and I think it may be what tipped the scales in our direction.
Also, that was the first time this year I literally jumped out of my chair.
Definitely that one. The series win in Anaheim was pretty big too
i know this sounds crazy, but the series in atlanta was the biggest series of the year in my book. The yanks were faltering, no one was hitting, and then the cashman shows up. All of a sudden they are a hitting machine and after losing that FLA series, they never looked back.
good one.
I have to agree with that, but i think the series in boston after that was my #2 because it all but eliminated any hope of a Boston takeover of the AL east, and #3 was the series in Atlanta.
The game that sticks out was the 15-inning Friday night win – the ARod walkoff HR… after the Drew spearing of the Hinske line drive the inning before.
Biggest series of the year will be the Rays series this weekend.
Three straight playoff previews. Means everything. All the marbles.
have we been eliminated from the 2010 playoffs yet?
Let’s not discuss it. You’d rather not know.
Has to be the Boston series. That was where the competition with Boston tilted back in our favor, definitively and irrevocably.
…although, I’m also tempted to say the NEXT Boston series, in which we walked into Fenway and took 2 of 3, including that 20-run game. To do that against a team as dominant at home as the Sox is huge in my book.
Agreed. You could even look back a few days before the start of that series, though, and call that week the most important “stretch” of the season. Entering play on August 4, with the Yanks starting a 2-game set in Toronto against Roy Halladay and the Sox starting a 2-game set in St. Pete, the Yanks were 0.5 games ahead of Boston. The Yanks beat Halladay and swept the short series in Toronto while Boston got swept in their short series against the Rays, then came home and took 4 straight from the Sox. That stretch of 6 games has to have been the most important stretch of games this year for both the Yanks and Sox, as far as the AL East was concerned.
It was all over after that. We knew it, and they knew it.
ESPN figured it out, eventually.
ESPN figured it out, eventually.
yep, it was yesterday
ha
(no I’m late, but my fam is from Druidia, and I just got home.)
Funny – you don’t look Druish
/mel brooks’d
It’s the nose job.
/Vespa’d
the one where we swept the sox in four games or maybe the one after that with the big trophy
Twins back in.. June was it? With all the walk-off wins. We were hovering around .500 back then, and then just took off
Jake Delhomme: EPIC FAIL.
Seriously, just quit already. Because they’re going to kill you in North Carolina. Don’t bother showing up for the Week 4 home game.
And Triple-A Scranton with a rehabbing Robbie Cano beats the Royals…
Cano’s and Joba’s celebration was kinda cool
Hey Joe, will you still have the game recap up by midnight or sometime around then?
So what do we do with this Chad Gaudin fellow?
CROWN HIS ASS
This one’s for TSJC:
Pencil him in as the 2010 fifth starter so Phil Hughes can start the season a bit late in AAA before taking over the 5th starter spot a month or two in, pushing Gaudin to the reliever/spot-starter role.
Philly should be good for about 180+ innings. I don’t think we need to start him in AAA.
Yeah, I hear you, and I know what the Verducci Correlation says about it, but the kid is still coming off a relatively (for a starter) light workload, out of the bullpen, in 2009. I wouldn’t mind seeing them give him a little more time in the beginning of the season to (1) work his way back into the starter’s role and routine and (2) keep his innings down without possibly having to either slow him or shut him down down later in the season.
Tommie: Don’t worry…. Don’t worry…. I’m not gonna DO, what everyone THINKS I’M GONNA DO, and FLIP OUT, MAN!.
All I wanna know, is, who’s coming with me?
Come on, who’s coming with me?
(sees Mondesi raising his hand)
Thank you, Mondesi! YEAH! FULLY!
Tashard Choice tries to overcompensate for his nervousness being interviewed on camera by focusing and being really intense. It’s funny.
He’s like Shannon Sharpe, without the gigantic, lisp-inducing, word-fumbling lips.
that was the quickest post game show i’ve seen.
i like that Melky and Cano played, they have a history of slacking off on their off days and going clubbing when they have a game.
History is fun when you make it up, isn’t it?
World War II was won by Atilla the Hun
Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
Just before the French invaded Australia
Let’s hope he was being sarcastic.
