Marte has a “cranky” left shoulder

By

Via Marc Carig, lefty setup man Damaso Marte what he called a “cranky” shoulder, though he thinks he’ll miss two or three days at the most. The problem, or course, is that Marte had a shoulder issue last year that he classified as minor, yet he ended up missing four months. If he has to hit the disabled list for any length of time, you can all but guarantee that Boone Logan will make the roster.

    You cannot be serious.

Lovely, and by lovely I mean damn it

  3. Hughesus Christo says:

Marte requires four to five months of intense study and physical training to prepare for Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, and Postseason RoboPapi. If this is what it takes, so be it.

They have a wack medical staff. And the players aren’t kept in proper shape.

          FACT

Jose Reyes is completely healthy but is unwilling to play. He is afraid that if he plays, he may play poorly causing a member of the front office may challenge him to a fight.

Marte is the biggest P.I.M.P in baseball. He chills for 6 months watching Yankee baseball. Then when the post season comes around he fucks shit up, deposits 4 million bones in his bank account, and goes back to chillin.

Clemens aint got nothing on Marte.

Marte said it’s sore, but nothing like last year’s injury.

    Encouraging if true.

  7. Chris A says:

Wow, this is pretty much what happened last year like you said. Except last year it was kind of blamed on the World Baseball Classic. Let’s hope this isn’t nearly as serious as last year, we can only hold our breath.

  8. James says:

how bout we just scratch him till the postseason rolls around…

    ::sarcasm::

  9. Accent Shallow says:

Honestly, if this is the price for him killing everyone in the postseason, it’s worth it.

    Wish we still had Gaudin…

I think now it is imperative to option out Hughes and put Marte on the DL and bring up Logan and Melancon to start the year. No reason to be disadvantaged to start the year. Especially when this is the time of year most likely when starters get knocked out early.

    • Agreed.

      Logan and Melancon have
A.) already been added to the 40 man
B.) already had their options burned this year anyway
C.) already made their big league debuts and thus already had their arbitration/free agency clocks started
      D.) pitched well this spring

I’d much rather go north with an Opening Day bullpen of Mo/Joba/Robertson/Park/Melancon/Logan/Mitre and give both Aceves and Marte an extra week of rest for their back/shoulder rather than push the two of them and risk aggravating a minor injury.

If they don’t make their first pitches until April 14th, nobody’s going to remember/care come October.

  12. Riddering says:

I’m hoping this is as serious as Johnson’s back tweak earlier in ST. No reason to get panicky yet.

  13. mryankee says:

I think we are jumping the gun a bit if the injurt is modest and it sounds as if it is he will be ready for this week. If not its ot like he is Steve Carlton we will be fine.

  14. Hughesus Christo says:

Your regular season is not worthy of Damaso’s gangsta.
