Yankees scouts bearing down on clubs with excess pitching

Via Joel Sherman, the Yankees have their scouts bearing down on teams that they believe will have pitching available during the summer. Those teams: the Cardinals, White Sox, Braves, Athletics, and Angels. We’ve covered every one of those teams at some point this winter except for the Braves, and there’s still plenty of time to do that.

This isn’t a surprise, of course the Yanks were going to have their scouts looking at teams with pitching. It’s good to see exactly what teams they’re focusing on though, and as long as it’s not Kyle Lohse, I’m cool with it.

Please don’t tell me Braves = Lowe, or Angels = Kazmir.

    • FIPster Doofus

      Lowe is solid.

      • Midland TX

        Lowe is solid.

        Fixed.

At $15mm per for his age 38 & 39 years, plus what we’d give up in a trade, things would have to be pretty dire for this to look like the right move.

hoping Angels = Joel Pineiero, and yeah Braves probably means Lowe and White Sox probably means Buehrle. Also hoping Athletics means either Gio Gonzalez or Dallas Braden.

    • 42

Dallas Braden would sure make for some interesting team chemistry.

      • Pasqua

If Braden ever came to the Yankees I believe it would take about 1 day before YES films a commercial with he and A-Rod standing on the mound together and saying something like, “This is OUR mound, now.”

        • Pounder

What about a Clemens/Piazza commercial? For acne cream perhaps?

  • MikeD

    The Cardinals have excess pitching?

    • radnom

Mike’s wording, not Shermans’ or the Yankees’.

“teams that they believe will have pitching available during the summer.” is what he meant. And yes, the Cardinals are part of that mix.

Kawakami could probably be had for just money at this point.

  • RobC

    what about the Reds?

  • felixbanuelos

Why aren’t the giants in this list? Jonathan Sanchez would be that great impact lefty to neutralize Boston

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Sanchez is pretty much a lefty A.J. Burnett. Walks too many guys, gets away with it because of strikeouts. AL East lineups might eat him alive.

When the Dodgers are 15 out in June…

maybe the angels will do something stupid like they did in the Well trade and make Harren available. Its just a dream but with the moces they ve made u never know.
