I read them
Me too! :..(
I only skim them.
I never read any of them, including this one.
I’m Brian of Nazareth and so is my wife!
Well done sir
If nobody reads them, why is there injury news?
I ready these things.
Also, Marcum sucks against the Yankees.
You know what makes catching routine fly balls hard to catch? Being high during the game
http://www.sportspickle.com/vi.....jer-morgan
There are…no words.
/TyroneBiggums’d
It tastes just like it smells.
I read every post by Mike, Joe, and Ben. Tonight will determine whether or not we sweep. We have a favorable pitching matchup tomorrow, AJ needs to not give up the long ball.
And he needs to use his hook more. Last start he kept throwing fastballs to Giambi. Throw him the hook in the dirt! Throw it to Fielder.
and a changeup or two in the first inning.
great news on Phil
Yeah I am sort of surprised more people aren’t going nuts over this, because I totally am.
I ready them, Jeter at Trenton will be insanity
from rotoworld:
There is a “good likelihood” Bartolo Colon (hamstring) will be activated from the disabled list to start Saturday against the Mets, according to Yankees GM Brian Cashman.
Colon tossed 60 pitches Tuesday in a simulated game and practiced bunting drills Monday in preparation for taking the mound in a National League park (i.e. Citi Field). The big right-hander has been sidelined since June 12 with a left hamstring strain and will return to a stellar 3.10 ERA
Please God, let Hughes come back strong and healthy.
Stronger, healthier, AND much better than he was the second half of last season, when he was awful.
I am so rooting for Hughes. I hope he’s back adn strong next week, hopefully with a new fire that will finally let him harnass that potential.
Ryan Franklin released. Is he worth a try?
Nope. Wasn’t working in the weaker league, not going to work in Yankee Stadium.
Yanks will have the best rotation in the MLB besides Philly…which is hilarious since everyone was uncertain/panicky about it before the season started.
well it kinda helped the question marks all seemed to work out, some to a higher degree than others.
Every day I look at the little smiley face at the bottom of the page, and it makes me feel a little better about the world.
Only one day left to vote for the All-Star game
You can Vote Early – Vote Often on line.

I DO read this everyday and then I read all of the Yankees’ fans posts on Facebook as they all re-post it. Btw, who’s leading off tonight? LOL!!
I think it is funny that Red Sox would sacrifice defense just to get Papi in the line up. DH is a worthless position – pitchers should hit.
I beg to differ.
Most don’t fill the position above league average for hitting and then provide nothing else to the team. Lot of money to pay a guy to hit .270
Pretty sure .270 is above league average right now by a lot.
Yep, .254 in the AL and .251 in the NL.
I’d rather see a guy who can hit than a pitcher who can’t and is being paid a lot of money to PITCH.
They’re playing Ortiz at 1B and A-Gon in RF. Should be fun.
If Ortiz has to dive he may explode.
PastadivingBlackSantaClaus
AJ walked Nyjer Morgan?
Let the chaos begin.
AJ Burnett-esque
Here we go.
Throw the hook, damnit! Enough with that fastball on 1-2!
AJ has such a great pick-off move
Take your time AJ.
Nice DP to limit the damage.
Well, just like last start, AJ avoids the meltdown.
He should step off the mound more often to gather his thoughts.
Lol @ Fielder sprinting
The Mets scored 4 runs off Phil Coke in the top of the first. Base clearing triple by Scott Hairston. Damn, they are rolling
It was still a bad trade for the Yankees!
The Tigers made a grave mistake by converting him to a starter.
I wouldn’t go that far.
They had to throw too much cut on him to stretch him out that far.
He limited the damage. He’ll give up 2 more runs max in the remainder of this game.
I find your love of AJ fascinating.
nice AB by Curtis
Wow, that was some take by Granderson.
Yeah. That was a Bondsque take by the Grandyman.
I wish Teixeira took like that.
Was that Phil Nevin I saw in the Brewers dugout?
Tex and change-ups: As friendly as Bartolo and vegetables.
Slow ass game man.
Where’s Alex’s power gone?
Long time passing?
Nice one.
Don’t worry he’ll still make it to 30 HRs, 100 RBI in the last game of the season by hitting 4 dingers and driving in 9.
He will be way past 100 ribbies if he stays healthy.
The only reason he didn’t lead the MLB in RBI last year was because of the 2 weeks he missed on the DL. And even then, Miguel Cabrera only beat A-Rod out by 1 RBI.
Epic fail, Hart.
Epic win, Curtis
what a catch! Curtis is amazing.
Great play by the Grandyman!
Holy shit Grandy
Does Hart not realize that everything left of center is going straight to a vacuum cleaner.
Great play by Granderson!
That was pretty!
Fine play by Curtis, but Hart had no business being anywhere past 2nd.
The Grandy Man is amazing! Well worth the spare parts we unloaded for him!
AJax & IPK were not spare parts.
So often I see polarized opinions on this trade, either that it never should’ve been made, or it was just highway robbery.
Neither one of those, IMO, is accurate.
Well, I realize you can’t read tone but I was being sarcastic. Earlier in the same thread I made the exact opposite statement, that the trade never should have been made.
Real talk for one minute here: it was a great trade for the Yankees. Granderson in the prime of his career likely to be worth more than what they gave up. That doesn’t mean the guys the Yankees gave up have no value, but IMHO they have less value than Granderson.
A ha, interpretation fail.
& I agree, great trade for the Yankees. If Curtis was putting up an analogous season to ’10, then it looks a bit closer.
I loved the trade when it happened, and I love it more each & every day we get to see Curtis do his thing.
Haha, wouldn’t it be great if there was a universally agreed upon sarcasm font for the internet?
I imagine this is the first usage of “Real talk” on RAB. I approve.
So long as it’s not Intentional Talk.
Wow what a play by Granderson.
I just love our defensive OF
Cano’s relay was ridiculous. Caught it, turned, threw the ball chest high to Tex in an instant. Wow.
GRANDY!!! CANO! TEX! Damnit, this team. This. Team.
This. Team?
Will. Not. Be. Stopped.
Periods.
I enjoy leaving them in places they don’t need to be in.
Who is the long man tonight for the Yanks? I don’t see AJ being long for this game.
Buddy Carlyle
Brian Gordon, maybe. But probably not.
1 run and 29 pitches in 2 innings? That doesn’t scream early exit to me.
“A-rod told me earlier this year hed like phil coke back in pen for yanks. Maybe he gets wish. Coke miscast as starter” – Heyman
http://twitter.com/#!/SI_JonHe.....1960256512
huh?
Heyman being Heyman.
Heyman’s not too bright.
Maybe ARod’s idea of keeping Coke in the bullpen was in reference to the same way Tim Raines did.
Brandon Morrow perfect through 3 against Pittsburgh, Dan Haren perfect through 3 against Washington
They should do a poll question right now who has the better chance of actually throwing one
Because we need more toyota plugs?
Morrow had that one start last year which was just amazing. I’d pick him.
I jinxed them both, I have magic powers
The Force is strong with this one.
Please Michael, never compare Jeter to Yuni ever ever again.
OK, Reyes is 2-2 for with his 30th SB.
This is Adrian Beltre in his last year with the Dodgers. Just an epic contract push. Amazing.
(I know he’s still an elite talent outside of his results this year, but this year he’s putting up one of the best half-seasons for a lead-off hitter that I can remember).
I wouldn’t want to touch Fielder or Reyes with a 30 foot pole considering the contracts they want.
Reyes has been on a tear for the ages. However I do think he is playing way over his head.
Looks like Burnett is settling down a bit.
Now can the lineup that has hit Marcum to a .303/.380/.674 line please show up?
Mo Vaughn!
im happier when i see yanks putting up some runs. it be nice to see some hits ad
We seem to do this when AJ is throwing a gem. We dont score any runs. I read on here that we have lost two 1-0 games from AJ this year.
By the way, I’m convinced you’re really Wallace Matthews.
Why would I trash ESPN so much if I was Wallace Matthews?
Excellent cover.
If I wasn’t Jamaican, then why would I have this hat on, hmm?
finally a hit!
Brett Gardner: Platoon left fielder
Nobody will remember [why should you] all the rotten stuff i said about Gardner in April. Maybe I was wrong.
Not said by me.
the home plate ump in Philly called a total of 22 balls on the 22 batters in the first 3 innings. isn’t that kind of weird? We should get that guy behind the plate for Colon’s start on Saturday. He’ll throw an 85 pich complete game.
How was that a strike? Is this umpire even paying attention?
Doesn’t matter now. Grandyman walks again.
Marcum can throw that curveball anywhere and this ump will call it a strike.
Granderson the walking man
Curtis Granderson is a walk machine. Wasupwitdat
He’s not paid to walk. He’s paid to hit home runs!!!!
Call him Curtis Bonds.
Someone teach this man how to hit a fucking changeup!
mark teixeira, hits: 70, HR: 24
That walk brings Granderson’s OBP to .365 matching his career high.
Flash and Kay are distracted by everything.
What were you saying?
OK, Grandy’s new found patience is quite impressive. Also, 55 pitches for Marcum.
Tex CAN NOT hit those changeups
Which is a problem considering he can’t not swing at them.
I assure you, baseball isn’t as easy as it looks. By time his brain realizes it’s a changeup, he’s already started his swing.
I know it’s not easy. I’m just getting peeved at his Darrell Evans act this year so far.
Fuckin’ gingersnaps! If there’s ONE thing I hate watching more than Jeter’s awfully routine ground balls, it might just be Texeira’s piss poor approach (or lack thereof) against the changeup.
trade the bum!
I know it’s only 3 innings but I’m already annoyed.
We are Yankee fans. We get annoyed more quickly than anybody else. Be proud of it.
Yeah, it certainly has that shitty air to it thus far. Burnett just can’t catch a break . . .
Dot dot dot? Burnett rarely gets run support and it’s infuriating. Marcum isn’t even that great of a pitcher.
Also, I am sick of Cano grounding out to second. And when was the last time Arod hit a HR?
June 11.
Thankyou. It seems he hasn’t been hitting many HRs this year. Or especially as of late.
RISP fail. They can’t do anything against Marcum’s changeup.
ump’s a joke.
Yeah that strike 2 to Arod was bullshit. Totally changed the at-bat.
This is getting ridiculous for marcum
http://www.brooksbaseball.net/.....evDate=629
ARod, Yount…
Greenberg and Musial
Shoulda known that.
So you didn’t want to stick with Markus Teixeiracus?
Naw…
I have to stick with Karl Krawfid. Carl was my first name but someone else uses it now.
I am disappoint.
As am I. Markus Teixeiracus is a plus-plus name.
Through 1/3 of the game, the offense has been utterly craptastic.
But AJ is pitching, so I’m not surprised.
Banks
wrong
Logical guess, though.
This is yet another ballgame AJ is gonna lose 1-0. Where is our offense? You know that Doug Davis guy who shut us down? Released today by the Cubs, one of the worst teams in baseball doesn’t want a guy that shut us down.
So if Colon and Hughes come back healthy and effective, who leaves the rotation? Gotta be Garcia, right?
No way. Nova will go the pen and be the long man. Freddy’s numbers are better than Nova’s and he’s a veteran.
why not send noesi down to AAA to get regular starts and make nova the long man in the bullpen.
This is what I would expect.
Probably Nova
Nova. I want Garcia to reach type B FA status. He’s been better anyways.
I’m hoping this doesn’t turn into one of those games where AJ pitches awesome and loses on this one run he gave up.
Braun is gooood.
that was the worlds slowest slide back to first
I wish burnett would get the calls that marcum is getting on those corners.
A running Jew. Ironic, no?
Kay and Flash are reeeeeally board
Now I know they can be wooden and all, but isn’t that an extreme comment?
DP = Burnett’s best friend.
Hooray for double plays
Love the DPs, hopefully the Yankees can figure out the change.
3 DPs for AJ. Now offense come alive!!!!!
Corey Hart looks like should be doing something other than playing baseball. I’m thinking either chasing dingoes in the Australian outback, or maybe posing on the front of a Lucky Charms box. Any ideas?
I like the Australian hunter idea. He doesn’t look Irish.
I’m going to have to go with the Australian outback thing. Good call.
Robbie!
LOL Morgan
Robbie Cano, dontcha know?
Ok get Robbie home!
Nyjer hit the wall harder than Cano hit the ball.
He ain’t gonna forget this series anytime soon.
Lolmorgan
There’s a wall there, Morgan.
I love the Triple! Gardner would of had an inside the parker
Nyjer! Nyjer!!
(it was a tough play I know)
the brewers announcers just brought up the fact that morgan was a hockey player. which is unusual, because he’s black
Did they really say that?
not the unusual and black part that was me,
Hmmmmmmm…………
It’s unusual that his family moved to Alberta. It’s not that unusual that a kid in Alberta (black, white, Inuit, or other) plays hockey.
He’s so batshit crazy, he might actually be a hockey player all this time.
I’d like to see a video of all his lols over the years
Just go to YouTube.
Reason No. 445 Why Hockey is Not a Sport.
Gymnastics are not a sport because Romanians are good at it.
/George Carlin’d
Swisher!!!
Swish!
hooray for Swish being Swish again
There you go Swish, there you go
That was a 3-1 changeup. But I was told Nick Swisher can only hit 2-0 fastballs. Or was that homeruns only?
Only 2-0 fastballs in garbage time
Sterling: you know Suzyn, next time we get a chance I’m going to go out there and find out how hard that wall is out there.
Me: head first, John. Head first.
He’s got a thick looking cranium. I can assure you there will be no change.
Wall: destroyed.
Ump is giving him inside braking ball
I still can’t decide if Nyjer Morgan is the best bad centerfielder in baseball or the worst good centerfielder in baseball.
I’d say the worst good center fielder. He has been worth 1.6 fWAR so far this year.
[I'm late on this] The heck was Nyjer thinking? He nearly hurt himself running into the center field padding.
Seemed pretty obvious he had no idea where he was.
Life is good. We are in first place and getting Colon, Hughes, and Jeter back.
76 pitches already, lets crack into that lolpen soon
That was a hanger.
You could put a shirt on it.
HIP HIP!
Hip Hip
Jorge Alpine Laced that one.
#productplacement
It must be that short in RF.
Jeez 228 for russ
Hey that helps russ
TWO TWENTY EIGHT THAT, BITCHES
I’ll take it like a man
This is a very stupid question, so forgive me. Is Robertson injured or unvailable? Because I saw him in the dugout. Aren’t relievers supposed to stay in the bullpen? I’m sorry; I’ve just never seen that before. Not sure if it’s a rule that relievers are supposed to remain in the bullpen. Stupid, I know.
They usually sit in the dugout until the fifth or sixth inning.
On of the advantages of having defined roles.
I think it can be either way.
Sometimes relievers stay in the dugout until they are called on to warm up.
Alright that makes sense. Just wasn’t sure. Thankyou everyone.
All the Posada haters can suck my cock!
Can, not must, right?
Can? Yes they can!
Wooo Russ.
Boom!!!!
MUSCLE.
RUSSELL!!!!!!!!!!
he needed that badly, happy for him.
RALLY: KILLED
Russell the Muscle!
She’s gone! Welcome back, Russell!
Thank goodness for the defense playing back.
Rusell with Muscle!!
Way to be Russell!!! Makes me want to give you my All Star votes!!!
Also that was on an 0-2 pitch
Also that was his change-up.
Tex wasn’t batting
Thank you offense for coming alive. It’s alive!!! It’s alive!!!
Granderson:Uncured
Geez lackey
seriously, he might be a better DH than pitcher
Lol that’s so sad.
John Lackey is just as ugly running the bases as he is pitching. Or breathing.
He got rid of that hideous beard
I think it’s more accurate to say that his beard escaped his face.
IDK if that beard was that bad, though. It helped cover up the ugly. Kinda like Youk’s. (seriously, Youk looks like such a creeper without the beard)
He looks Cro-Magnon with it.
He might not even be one of the 5 or 10 ugliest guys on that team, too.
It’s a Murderer’s Row. Of actual murderers.
Get the Criminal Minds crew after them.
Seriously, the Boston Red Sox clubhouse is full of mugshots that would fit right in on a post office wall.
OMG Corey Hart would totally be a lumberjack.
http://www.thesportsbank.net/c....._24_11.jpg
Picture him in that picture, except wearing flannel, one of those raccoon hats, and a hatchet.
Corey Hart cuts down trees, he skips and jumps, he likes to press wildflowers.
He puts on women’s clothing and hangs around in bars
He wears high heels, suspenders and a bra.
He wishes he’d been a girlie, just like his dear papa.
He’s a lumberjack and he’s ok, he sleeps all night and he works all day.
I need what you’re on.
Cruisin’
AJ shutdown inning after getting the lead, awesome
Seven pitch innings?
Very good, sir.
Those cigarette commercials are SO FUCKING DISTURBING!!!!!
I think that’s the point. Scare tactics.
I mean, no offense to anyone who smokes, but it seems like a smoker wouldn’t care about those if they spend $4-5 on a pack of cigarettes. Also it does nothing but gross out people who don’t smoke.
Also it does nothing but gross out people who don’t smoke.
Which, again, is the point.
They are also full of shit with scare tactics.
Was not aware that tomorrow is a day game. I approve.
I don’t; I have to work from 12-2.
I’ll be there with bells on.
LITERALLY.
Unstoppable.
I love how we have three pitchers that give Yankee fans paranoid, stomach-turning agita in the first inning, fears of imminent doom by the second inning, and then have turned in a sterling performance by the 6th/7th inning and nobody remembers what they were freaking out about earlier.
Nova/Burnett/Garcia have to lead the league in hyperbolic fan boverreactions.
Don’t you think other teams have batshit fans?
Bostonites must shit themselves every time that Matsuzaka takes the mound. Good for them he’s not doing that anymore.
And what about SF fans and Zito? Isn’t Zito just a west-coast AJ anyway?
Sure, but there’s more Yankee fans than Boston fans or Giants fans.
Touche
Am surprised how MLB acts like the Yanks are the scourge of baseball considering that their fanbase makes up so much of baseball’s fanbase.
But with Dice K their fears are legit because he actually sucks.
AJ and Freddy are pretty good.
Well of course they need not fear the DiceBB now.
Just John Lackey and Tim Wakefield and Andrew Miller.
Most feared aces ever
By the fans of the ace’s team, that is
Babe Ruth was not as respected by his peers as Tim Wakefield is by his peers.
I’m not always sure how I feel about games when the bottom half of the order is picking up the slack left over from the top. I mean, I love, love, LOVE the circularity that the lineup demonstrates from time to time, but it also disappoints me when the supposed big guns aren’t contributing the way one would normally expect them too. Again, though, I think it’s my issues with Teixera. I just expected far too much from him (power AND average). Do I seriously have to get used to his .250 BA? Is this just the player that he is? Color me sad
Tex has historically been a second half player. He goes on a tear post ASB and hits .300+, pulling his season line northward towards the .275 range.
I hope that trend continues but me thinks it may not. Does anyone know if he’s worked with KLong on his offspeed woes?
I hope that trend continues but me thinks it may not.
Any particular reason why you think it won’t continue?
He seems like a different player since his days in Texas/Atlanta/Anaheim. Maybe he’s never quite adjusted to the New York spotlight, I don’t know, but something just appears to be missing . . .
Sure, but that second half phenomenon has followed him to New York.
2009 First Half: .275/.378/.535
2009 Second Half: .313/.390/.601
2010 First Half: .254/.360/.465
2010 Second Half: .259/.372/.502
2010 was a tough year for him, but he’s still a second half hitter, he’ll probably be fine.
Perhaps that’s part of the mystery to me, his performance last year. He never quite found his stroke once summer swung around.
The Good Mo works in mysterious ways.
I think the Yankees as a whole are a second half team. Not just with Cano and Tex, but the team wins more during the second half.
The funny thing is that in 2010, the team fell apart the second half ( or at least didn’t win as much), Cano didn’t have a great second half, and Tex wasn’t as great the second half.
Hopefully last year was a fluke and not a change of patterns.
So I was driving and heard Sterling call the Martin HR. Russell the muscle and:
“Monsieur Martin e la!”
/I think
Yea, I’ve heard that. I had forgotten it. Now you’ve made me remember it.
Grrrrr…..
Big Fish Eye McGee is due up. Dang bro, do something about those eyes.
That was a hell of play.
Nice flip, Nunie.
Who are you and what have you done with Eduardo?
The Big Bopper is coming up? That would be interesting.
Braun GIDP please
Safe, barely.
Not a good spot for AJ…….
Randall Simon didn’t like the Sausage Race…
that’s trash
Wel that could have been quite a bit worse.
Still applies.
going to the game tomorrow – anyone know if that shopping center down the street from the stadium still offers the cheap game-day parking?? Thanks!
Could have been a lot worse.
Could of. Could of.
How dare you not get this right.
I would of done things differently if I could of done this again.
…you guys know the proper English grammar is “have”, right?
Lol jk
Stop ruining the meme!!!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inside_joke
I was joking around! I know the joke here. I was just immitating the people who don’t know the joke . (hence the lol jk)
yeah, a lot worse. Good job AJ. Just one more inning please so you can hand it to D-Rob and Mo.
Good job by AJ. Limiting the damage. I am so happy for him!
That’s not bad. First and second, one out, Braun, Fielder, and Hart due up. Didn’t hit a ball out of the infield.
Yay-J
Time to ravage their pen.
what the fuck? lol only Posada
Oh boy.
How the fuck is that not a HR?
It is, and Jorge will be vindicated.
Home run. It hit the fan off the bounce.
That ball is gone. HR Jorge.
Hit a fan. Its a HR.
Wow hip hip
ground rule double?
That should of been called a HR.
Yes it should of.
Should of kept it a single. ‘Nuff said.
That’s a HR.
Definitely hit the fan first. Homer
Heh, the guy’s kid has an Orioles yarmukle.
ZOMG TONY TARASCO ALL OVER AGAIN
Isn’t that why the top of the wall is deeper and thicker?
deeper and thicker?
John Hart, is that you?
Mmmmm….could be!
Obviously it’s not deep and thick enough
/whatshesaid
That was a home run!
home run! hip hip!
About time.
Wow, Michael Kay is dumb sometimes. I guess you have to fill empty airtime, but that’s no reason to debate an easy call with John Flaherty.
Does he have to run around the bases again to count as a run?
This Jorge-he’s a kippah.
/Hebrew joke
That took way too long to review. I’d rather it just be the wrong call than wait a minute and a half to get the call right.
I laughed.
Seileg’d
Bravo!
This happened about 2 months ago, but I’ve never told or here.
That annoying RS fan and his buddy that were in one f my classes are so dumb. This is an excerpt of one of our conversations.
Them: the RS are so good; they won 2 world series from 2004-2007z
Me: Umm the Yankees won 4 from 1996-2000
Them: it doesn’t matter. The Red Sox are the team of the decade. They won 2 WS in that decade.
Me: So did the Yankees!
I also went on to say that the Yankees were th team of the century, bla bla bla.
Are all RS fans really that stupid?
FTR it was in an Italian class, so there is a mix of stupid and smart kids.
Keep fighting the good fight.
I agree, Red Sox were the team of the first 2000′s decade. Won their first world series in a bajillion years, and another. They went from joke to contender. Yankees may have preformed better than the Red Sox, but the Red Sox became a legit team during that time. I base on growth of the organization rather than who played the best.
You don’t judge something as arbitrary as “team of the decade” by “growth of the organization.”
You go by the results on the field.
The Red Sox were the story of the decade. Were they the team of the decade? By most any objective measure, no, they were not.
Ok I can agree with that. Calling someone the team of the decade means “story” of the decade to me. That term is just too subjective.
story of the decade means they were the team that made hating the yankees cool for the decade.
Calling someone the team of the decade means “story” of the decade to me.
To me, calling someone the team of the decade means they were the BEST team of that decade.
The Red Sox breaking an 85 year title drought was the story of the decade. The White Sox breaking an 87 year title drought the following season was the second biggest story of the decade.
The best team of the decade was the Yankees, though.
No, the Diamondbacks ending the Yankees dynasty was a bigger story than the White Sox winning.
/Selig’d
You know what? The Diamondbacks winning that epic 2001 series over the Yankees, what with Mr. November and B.K. Kim and Randy/Schilling and Gonzalez’s squibber beating the best closer on the planet, all that might be the third best story of the decade.
Yanks are still the team of the decade, though.
The Yankees won 2 WS from 2000-09. So did the Sox.
The Yankees also made four World Series appearances and nine playoff appearances during that decade. The Red Sox made two and six, respectively.
The Braves were the Team of the ’90′s because they beat the Yankees in all criteria, except one very narrow criteria, World Series victories.
/Schuerholz’d
But the Red Sox did it on pure grit. Those evil, satanic Yankees buy all of their championships.
I’d love it if we won the WS this year with help from Freddy Garcia and Bartolo Colon and the Sox can’t win with AGon and Crawford.
I would laugh my ass off if that were the case.
That actually sounds pretty lucid for sox fans.
http://lucytheblog.files.wordp.....soxfan.jpg
Man-o-man-o-schevitz!
Apparently, Michael Kay doesn’t know the rules?
Swisher has been really good in rightfield the last few days.
Wow he’s got a 4.1 UZR this year.
Swisher is deceptively good. Always has been.
Curtis inflating his UZR numbers.
yea aj for a good game
Well done AJ. Nice quality start. And now your ERA is almost below 4.00
Oh my god STOP EATING YOUR ICE CREAM FROM YOUR MINATURE HELMET DURING GOD BLESS AMERICA YOU DISRESPECTFUL FUCKFACE
The things I miss by changing the channel…
I have a collection of all the team helmets, basically if you make a party foul at my place you have to drink a beer out of a helmet. You get to pick the team.
I used to have those, too. Wish I’d kept them since a lot of those logos are no longer in use.
ZOMG terrorists!!!!!!
If I heard correctly, Kay was commenting on how much the Yankees like interleague, because they have a 153-106 record – the best in baseball.
The funny thing is, that record works out to a 59.1% winning percentage. Over the same time period (1997-today), the Yankees are 1414-927, for a winning percentage of 60.4%.
So they’re actually 3 games worse than expected in interleague play.
I blame it on when they got swept by the Phillies in 1997.
That was when I knew they weren’t winning the WS that year.
Beautiful job by AJ. I am very pleased.
It’s because we believed in him.
Granderson will hit a home run.
YOU JINXED IT YOU MOTHERFUCKER!
I hate the Phillies as much as anyone, but man, they are helping us out quite a bit.
Why hate them? Because they stole the Yankee plan of buying championships?
Sox just lost
Sox lose
You magnificent Bastardo!
Red Sox lose to Vance Worley and the Phillies 2-1
As John Sterling would say……
if your playing the “you can’t predict baseball drinking game then take a shot bitches!!!
Am I the only one who thinks the Phillies’ offense isn’t really that good? They made Lackey look like a Major League caliber starting pitcher tonight!
they are old….everyone sees it
Yea, they’re not in Win Now mode, they’re in Must Win Now mode.
So is Tex a career .260 hitter from now on.
Haha, that’s what I keep on saying, although I’m a tad less generous as I deduct 10 whole points.
On SportsIllustrated, whilst giving out the midseason awards, Terry Francona was in the “running” for top manager . . . My question is . . . Why? Because his team underperformed for the first ten games and suddenly turned it on? On paper that team is ridiculous. What’s with the constant nut-sucking of “Tito”? I don’t understand it. Maddon, on the other hand, deserves all the accolades he receives.
Maddon! He’s the man!
Francona is overrated.
Yeah, that’s the point. WHY is he overrated? Because he won two series with two of the biggest juiceheads of recent memory? Because he orchestrates daily gang bangs with his boisterous band of kiddy rapists and drug thugs? As far as managing goes, I don’t see the difference he makes. He’s had a top-notch team since he became the coach and, naturally, he’s won with them. Joe Maddon, though, I love that guy. I’d love to see him manage the Yankees. (Not a particularly big Girardi fan)
because the red sox are a small market team who complete with the big bad yankees and are full of home town heroes
I’m going to assume this is sarcasm because Boston is hardly small market.
11-3 without Jeter
2 1/2 lead in AL East
16 games over .500
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves
I’m already far ahead of myself. Watching Jeter the past two years has been painful to say the least. I, for one, am definitely in favor of a Jeterless lineup. Not only does it seem more productive, but there always appears to be less “chaos” in the dugout and clubhouse. Honestly, at the moment, I don’t see what Jeter adds to this team. I think he’s been a distraction all season and plugging him back in at the top will be an inevitably painful and grueling experience. I am NOT looking forward to having him back in the lineup
I was referring to this game in particular since it’s not over yet. I agree with you on Jeter, this lineup is better off without him. Or having him bat ninth instead of Nunez.
Oh, haha, yeah.
but Noony always keeps it interesting.
more AJ? ok.
i live in northeast pa and over the last three years everyone here has become the biggest phillie fans, i hate them all, but it is nice that they are helping us build a cushion in the ale
i went to school in central PA…phillies fans are awful. second worst to you-know-who.
Philadelphia fans are terrible.
Their knowledge of any game is terrible at best.
i take it you mean psu, i went there as well, i hated the eagles, steelers, and phillies just because of the drunken fans and chants, even when it wasn’t during the season. obviously no one ever cared about the pirates
It was interesting going to Notre Dame. The campus was so diverse in terms of geography that you’d get a little of everything.
My hall rector was a big Red Sox fan, me and some other Yankees fans got into great arguments with him.
I really don’t remember too many other Red Sox fans. This was 1999-2001.
This way if anybody gets on, Robertson can do his thing.
Nunie’d
NuniEEEEEEEEEE’d actually, my bad
Go Nunez!!
nunez fan’d
God damnit Nunez
sweet throw!
Oh Nunie,
lol Nunez. Didn’t know if he should stay back or charge. Then almost killed the 1st base coach.
Red Sox with 6 wins and 8 loses in interleague.
Yankees with 9 wins and 4 loses in interleague. (Not counting tonight)
This just shows that the Red Sox can’t win in the world series and the Yankee can.
We didn’t play the Phillies though.
The Sox also lost 2 series to the Padres and Pirates
And the Yanks didn’t get a crack at the Padres or Pirates…
it wouldn’t be a real game unless nunez made his usual horrendous throw
i would say pena for a defensive replacement, but who the hell know what you are going to get? maybe when jeter comes back he can be a late inning defensive replacement for nunez?
Is Nunez that much of an offensive upgrade over Pena?
No…not when he’s producing negative value with defense
I’m starting to appreciate Jeter’s below average defense
John Wetteland 2.0
95 right by Braun, oh lord.
wow, that was some at bat!
Braun didn’t stand a chance against D-Rob.
c’mon D-Rob go after him!!!
Robertson with a first pitch changeup to Fielder. If he can get that over-fuhgeddaboutittt.
Should’ve went with the fastball again.
No the curveball was the right choice. It was just a hanger.
Well, he went with the fastball to put Hart away and it worked. But Hart was probably looking for the curveball because of Prince’s at bat.
Exactly. The psychology of baseball.
K-Rob
GOT HIM!
woooooow DRob sitting at 95 is just not fair. love it.
With our lineup, Bartolo and Phil back, and our back end bullpen we’re unstoppable.
Inning intermission: I’m in an 18 team keeper league. Somebody dropped Kendrys Morales. Debating whether to waiver claim him and stash him away in preparation for next year (I’m out of winning contention this year). My waiver pick is #3. Do it?
Absolutely not. His health is still very much in question
i really hope the mets cool off by friday
Damn, you really don’t expect to see 10 on the scoreboard when you’re facing Verlander.
That’s baseball, Suzyn….
Coke today, Verlander tomorrow
I really hope we don’t face R.A. Dickhead.
Francesa is going to have no problems hyping this series. He was starting on Monday.
Kay guessing along with the hitters. Dude did not make the Bronx Science HS baseball team.
I would love to see him throw out the 1st pitch someday. Has he ever?
Swisher with a higher average than Tex. Ouch. Didn’t see that one coming.
D-Rob is nasty. He’s like the biggest cock tease to opposing teams. Always gives them a glimmer of hope…..
Wow, Robertson sure looks sharp these days…
Great nights by Teix and ARod.
They’re saving their big hits for the Mets series.
Better be.
But isn’t it pretty awesome that we can win this even when our 3 & 4 hitters have a sucky night.
/obligatory deep and thick’d
Boy, Robinson is fun to watch these days.
Yeah, I’ve sadly lost the deep infatuation and carnal lust I once had for him. He’ll turn it around . . . I hope.
Show no mercy Mariano.
Finish them Mo
I swear to god I thought that was Rick Ross, then it hit me it was Mo Vaughn.
Hahahahaha, exactly what I thought as well. Awesome.
Oh c’mon, ump!
Where the Fuck was that pitch?!?!?!
Oh fuck this umpire. That was strike three to McGhee.
Mo still got him.
Mo with 4 strikes.
Hell yeah Mo. Let’s sweep tomorrow.
I wonder if Louisville Slugger sends Mo Christmas cards?
I really don’t know how i’m going to handle life when mo retires
I know… hands down the best part of the game is when you hear enter sandman come on
I will cry when he retires.
You won’t.
2 1/2 games up. With CC on the mound tomorrow, we can easily turn this into a sweep.
But Wolf has a better ERA……
Russel Martin: I don’t know how many at bats it’d been since I had an extra-base hit.
Kim Jones: Do you want me to tell you?
Russel Martin: Don’t tell me. Don’t tell me.
Kim Jones: It was 69 at bats.
Good listening, Kim.
Great effing win
The Yankees have been a joy to watch over the last three weeks. 14 -4 since the Red Sox sweep and won every series.
Do we achieve the elusive 5-game winning streak tomorrow?
Drum roll…
Nooooooo! Mitre! He will never die!
Great Mitre. Can’t wait till Guadin is back too!
He already came back last year.
Yes, I know. Three times the charm.
HA!!! Joe Girardi called Russ gritty.
he’s literally gritty after catching all of those balls in the dirt from AJ
Did he just say that meat-tray is back?!?!?
yup, freshly DFA’d
Mitre?! MITRE?! Are you kidding me?!
I’m surprised I haven’t seen someone defend him yet.
Next thread…
makes you wonder what they will do with gordon
